She told me that her mother would've loved me to death and how her dad would've made me play chess to test how smart I am. Her little brother wouldn't care less about me unless her feelings get hurt. They fact that the whole family includes the pets all killed off sounds off. But than again, a lot of people lost their love ones in this war. Sarah never told me what happened to our mother.
"I miss them Dill." She said again.
Without saying anything, I moved up to her as she held onto me closer as she bury her face into my chest. Laying side by side to each others as the wind outside brought me back to reality from out little world. Death is around us as any day our life can be taken. Yunnie seeing death in front of her makes me feel uneasy as if I should've been there to shied her eyes from the horror. To hold her as she seen the people to come to care for all dead around her. I wish I was there to comfort her when she had to walk into her home to see her family all gone after being gone for no more than a hour.
I didn't have nothing to lose except for Y/N. I made my whole life about them, to protect them from this world. Yet, they still didn't see what I was giving them. What I made myself into for them to see how much I loved them. I don't even remember the last time I had a moment to cry. Having a moment to cry out is a luxury now since we don't have the energy while trying to find warmth and food. But I know for sure Yunnie needed this. I cant give her a lot, but I can give her want she needs more than anything.
"Shhhh...I'm hear Yunnie...you can let it all out." I softly whisper as she continues to cry.
Was she ever was able to yake a moment like this for her family? Maybe with Strade possibly but she seen the only friend she trusted dead in front of her. Her will yo live is actually stronger than anyones because she's still here and she didn't change her morals of herself for anything. Even if she was starving to death. Here I was, ready to end my life over someone who didn't see my values nor my undying love for them.
But it's definitely worth it now. I finally have someone who can feel my love and see that I love them as they love me back. Even if Yunnie love for me is small at the moment, I'll make sure to let our love grow as strong as a cedar tree. I know I'll love her even more than ever after this day as we finally became one.
For now, I'm gonna hold onto my small summer night as she cry out all her sorrows. As she dose, my mind left to think.
