Cameron's POV
I sat on the floor of my cell thinking about the whole situation.
Suddenly the smell of pineapple and green apple hit my nose making my senses go mad.
'Mate!' My wolf screamed in my head and I quickly got up from my spot on the floor and stumbled over my feet to get to the cell door.
The elevator started to run and I waited patiently until the doors opened.
A woman was rolled before my cell in a wheelchair an eye patch covering her right eye. My eyes widened. She's wolf. But she's paralyzed. What can paralyze a wolf?
When she got in front of me her head snapped up.
'Mate! Mate! Brake down the cell door we have to hold mate!' My wolf frantically whined in my head.
Her brown eye scanned my face as she looked me over. Her eye wide as she watched my every giddy move.
"Tate." She called for the man without breaking eye contact.
"Luna?" He said walking up glaring at me.
My eyes widened. The Luna? She was so young. And she's paralyzed. They have her running the pack?
"Take me back. I need to go." She whispered frantically.
Wait! What?! Where is she going? I freaked out and watched her in desperation, speechless.
"But Kaylin. What about the rogue?" He said confused.
"I'll deal with the rogue later. First I have to take my daughter and Camille to get registered in school." She said pushing herself toward the elevator when Tate wouldn't.
She has a daughter?! The thought of another man's hands on her made my wolf angry and a low growl emanated from my chest. Tate turned with wide eyes and then glared. My mate doing the same.
"I knew you weren't an omega." He snapped. Grabbing my neck through the cell bars and squeezing. "What's your real rank?"
I saw no point in hiding it since he knew that I wasn't an omega anyway.
"Alpha." I snarled and his grip dropped from my neck.
He turned to my mate with a questioning look.
"What now? We can't keep an alpha in the cells." He said.
She sighed looking at me frustrated and confused.
"Bring him to the pack house and put him in one of the rooms. Put your best men to guard the door." She sighed rubbing her face before looking at me. "You won't run away will you? Or cause problems?"
I shook my head.
"Okay. Do that. I'll come talk with him after I get the kids enrolled in school." She said and Tate nodded.
She rolled into the elevator and went up. Tate glared at me before opening the door.
"Come on." He groaned and I followed him up the stairs hoping I'd meet my mate at the top but she was already gone.
"So the Luna, she runs this pack by herself?" I asked as I followed Tate.
"No." He snapped.
"Is there an alpha?"
He turned around and stepped right in front of me.
"You may be an alpha but that woman is like a little sister to me. If you ask anymore questions about her or her family I will bash your face in. You hear? You're in our territory now. So shut your mouth and hope she doesn't chose to kill you." He snarled in my face.
I have to admit that he is a great beta. But he doesn't scare or intimidate me.
As we got to the front doors my mate and 4 kids came through. A boy and 3 girls. The youngest holding her hand as the oldest pushed her chair.
"Mommy am I going to make friends?" The little girl asked jumping up and down.
"Of course baby." My mate said before looking up and glaring at me when she saw me.
All of the kids eyes turned toward me.
"Miss Kaylin, who is that?" The boy asked as he eyed me warily.
"He's no one. Come on let's get you guys enrolled and back by the time the ceremony begins." She said and they all got in the car and I watched as they all drove off.
"What ceremony is happening today?" I found myself asking.
"None of your business." Tate snapped as he showed me to my room that had two men waiting by the door. "Wait here until the Luna comes back."
Kaylin's POV
After enrolling the kids into school we came back and we helped Sadie and Carson move into the Carters.
I did anything and everything I could to avoid seeing that alpha upstairs.
'He's ours mate.' My wolf growled in my head.
'I know.' I sighed to my wolf. 'That's why I have to avoid him.'
'Why are you doing this?' My wolf cried.
'You're I my head. You know why.' I snapped before pushing her to the back of my mind.
"Kaylin. I think you should go see the alpha now. You've postponed it long enough." Tate said crossing his arms and looking at me. I stare him down but soon give up when his face softens. "He's your mate. Isn't he."
I nod and look at my hands not wanting tears to fall. I'm strong. I don't cry. And I'm not going to start now. I took a huge breath and sat up straight.
"Okay." I said nodding.
"Okay." Tate said before walking behind me a wheeling me to the alpha's room.
Cameron's POV
I waited for hours anxiously pacing my room waiting for my mate to come.
I have so much to say, to ask. Just so many questions running through my head.
The door to my room opened making me snap my attention towards it. Her smell hitting me like a ton of bricks.
"Alpha whatever your name is." Tate said wheeling in my mate. "Luna Kaylin is ready to speak with you."
I simply nodded.
She looked up at me and locked stares staying silent for a moment until she decided to break eye contact and look at Tate.
"You may go. I'll be alright." She whispered and he nodded and left the room after glaring at me once more.
It was just me and my mate. I felt giddy and I yearned to reach out and hold her but I know she wouldn't like that much.
She sat there silently staring at her hands with her brow furrowed. She brought her hand to her face wiping away an unshed tear before taking a deep breath and looking up at me.
"What is your name and what pack are you from?" She asked quietly trying her hardest not to cry.
It hurt to think that I could have caused my mate to cry and I wanted to comfort her but I know I shouldn't.
"My name is Cameron Woodrow. I'm the alpha of the Blood Paw Pack. " I stated proudly as I watched her every move.
"And why are you here Cameron?" She whispered as her uncovered eye filled with more unshed tears.
"I'm here to find my mate." I whispered as I slowly walked closer to her and kneeled in front of her.
She looked away from me mumbling to herself.
"I don't cry. That shows weakness. I'm not weak. I'm strong." She whispered to herself before gaining composure again and staring straight into my eyes.
"Do you have any questions Alpha Cameron of the Blood Paw Pack?" She said starring me down.
If I didn't have alpha blood I would've cowering away in intimidation.
"Just a few." I said.
She nodded.
"What might they be?"
I stood to my feet and went to sit on the end of the bed in the room.
"Are you with anyone?" I asked nonchalantly. She looked slightly surprised but shook her head.
"So you daughter's father isn't in the picture?" I asked crossing my arms across my chest.
"I don't know who Gracie's father is." She stated and it made me want to growl.
"Why is that?" I said trying to hold in my anger.
"She isn't biologically mine." She answered and I instantly felt awful for misjudging her.
"I see."
"Anything else alpha." She sighed.
"Are you the only one that runs this pack?"
"No." She answered straightening her posture in her chair.
"I see."
"Anything else? I would like to put my daughter to bed." She said impatiently,
"One last question for now." I said and she nodded. "How did you get paralysed?"
"That's none of your business." She snapped and started to roll toward the already opening door.
"Now if that's all good night alpha Woodrow." She said and before I could even respond she was gone.
"Good night, Luna." I said to the empty space in the room.
