You and Ash managed to defeat the first frontier brain and now it was time for you and may to participate in the contest.
📍 Saffron City.
After checking out the arena you and may would be battling onto, everyone decided to have their lunch in the Pokemon center only to find Harley dressed up in a white coat doing the work of Nurse Joy?!
"Harley! What are you doing here?" May yelled first making you and Arlo spit out the orange juice you both were drinking.
"What the hell- Harley's here too?!"
Arlo got up followed by you to Harley, seeing him working as Nurse Joy's assistant?
"Don't tell me you're nurse Joy's orderly"
"Not officially, I just volunteered to help her out during the contests" Harley replied calmly shocking everyone there
"You volunteered?" "Pika?"
"I bet Harley's upto something" you whispered to Arlo
"He's probably going to plan something to defeat May" he whispered back
"My cacturne was running a fever so I brought him here" he said by dramatically putting his hands to his chest and closing his eyes "Nurse Joy was so wonderful to me and seeing how unselfish and giving she was made me feel ashamed for the kind of person I've been"
"Is he bring serious right now?" You asked Arlo not believing your ears
"I don't know what to believe in anymore"
Harley explained how he wanted to help others and how he wanted to change himself now.
"But what about the contests?" May asked worriedly
"Oh I'll still enter it----which reminds me! Did you hear about the rules?" He asked getting closer to May
"Hear about what rules?"
"You can substitute pokémons between the first and second rounds here"
"Hey! Don't listen to him May! It's probably a plan of his to bring you down just how he did before!" Max argued stepping in between them
"Oh what a jokeeeee" Harley patted on his back making him also trip
You narrowed your eyes observing Harley 'i never heard of a rule like that'
Everyone glared at him suspiciously until Nursey Joy came in
"Nurse Joyyyy" Harley held her hand and started crying dramatically "isn't it true that here coordinators can switch pokémons between first and second rounds?"
"Oh, yeah, of course they can" she replied confused about Harley crying
"Huh?" Everyone was surprised to hear Harley actually speaking the truth
"So he was right?"
"Now, I guess there is a change in my Pokemon team then" you murmured to yourself
"You're gonna switch teammmmm?"
"Heh- n-no! I mean I decided to use one pokémon as prior to the previous rule I was following since Hoenn, but hearing about this new rule, I gotta look over on my team and create a new plan"
"So what pokémons are you gonna pick?"
'telling Harley the actual pokémons I'm gonna be using might not be the best idea...' "uhm let's see I'll decided that a bit later" you nervously laughed stepping back 'even if he's a friend of mine and Arlo, Harley would do anything to win'
"Anyways, Harley, i believe you and your friends have a lot to talk about, so why not take your break now?"
"Oh thank you Nurse Joy! That would be a great idea!" He said as Nurse Joy turned around and left "oh speaking of which you both entered in the contest already, right?"
"Oh we forgot about that!" You gasped almost running back to immediately register with May
"I told you both to do that when we came here!"
"oh it's nothing to worry about, May and....Y/N" he looked at you a bit nervously even though he was smiling

"You both still have your passes from the Hoenn right?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Well that pass would get you in this contest too and the registration's open till 11 tomorrow, so there's no big rush"
'Hoenn pass is still allowed in Kanto..? I mean it might be but when Harley looked at me like that while speaking....could he possibly thought that I knew about him lying about the pass- wait so this pass thing is probably a lie made up by him so we won't have to register?' You looked at Harley one last time before grabbing Arlo and running to the place the registration was going on
"Hey! Y/N, why are you pulling me like that-"
"Arlo, I just realised that Harley might be lying that Hoenn's pass is still allowed in Kanto"
"How do you know about that?"
"When Harley was talking about the pass thing, he looked at me nervously, which made me highly suspicious of him"
"But he said he changed"
"Arlo. I don't trust him anymore.... something about him is not giving me the old Harley vibes I got when we both started becoming friends with him back in Hoenn before Ash and everyone came"
You both made it to where the registration was going on.
"Excuse me, but is the registration still going on?"
"Ah, yes it still is, do you want to participate now?"
"Yeah! Here's my contest pass" you handed her the Hoenn pass from your pocket
"Uhm, I'm afraid this pass is invalid"
"Invalid?" Arlo repeated her words
"Uhm by any chance do I need a new pass for Kanto?"
"Yes because this is the pass of the Hoenn region and it doesn't work here"
Arlo gasped in surprised as you smirked knowing that Harley was actually upto something.
"So can you get me a Kanto pass for my registration?"
"Yes of course, here fill up your details and we're done"
"Thank you" 'tch, Harley I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to destroy your plan'

"What do you mean that my pass is invalid and the registration is over?!" May started crying as Arlo tried to consol her
"Ugh I knew that trusting Harley was not a good idea!" Max shouted angrily
"Seems like my plan worked!" Harley laughed from behind a tree, watching May cry forgetting that you weren't there with them
"Oh Harley." You interrupted him and smirked getting beside me "i think you forgot that I actually don't trust you anymore when you're telling something to May" you said showing him your Kanto pass making Harley gasp in surprise
"Oh no you didn't"
"Oh yes I did" you replied walking in the middle of the room "hey guys! May! There's nothing to be worried about" you grinned showing everyone your kanto pass along with another pass?
"Y/N?" May wiped her tears
"Harley here" you pointed at him hiding behind the tree "lied to you all yesterday and I kinda guessed that he lied so I immediately went to register my name and found out that he indeed lied about this pass thingy. So I decided to get a Kanto pass for you too yesterday, May" you smiled handing that pass over to May.
"Really?! Thank you so much Y/N!" May hugged you tightly as everyone looked at Harley in disgust who was angry about all these
"Oh just you wait Y/N, I'm gonna defeat you in this contest" he said storming off towards the arena.
"Let's see what you can actually do, Harley"

Lillian explained the rules and now everyone was waiting for the contest to actually start
"Are you ready squirtle?" "Tle!"
"Magnemite, this is your first contest too, so do your best!" "Mite!"
Harley was the first one to be called on the stage and he started blowing kiss towards the audience which only made Ash, Brock, Max and Arlo more angry
"I would never forgive for what he did to my sister!" Max said
"He's a jerk" Arlo replied sinking back into the chair
After Harley and Jessie in disguise's performance it was time for you and May.
"Alright, Magnemite! C'mon out!" "Mite mite"
Your friends cheered for you and magnemite who was kind of nervous
"Alright! Magnemite, use zap cannon and then use Swift on it!"
Fireworks covered the arena as the crowd cheered for magnemite and you
"What a wonderful performance! The crowd seemed to love it! Let's see what our judges have to say"

The match continued as Harley won against Jessiebelle, You and May won against a random trainer, and another random trainer won against another trainer.
The match moved on leading May to battle you in the next round.
"May's gonna battle me?!"
"What?! No way!!!"
"I hate when this happens so much" Arlo and Max whined sulking down
"Hey hey! On the bright side both Y/N's and May's pokémons are new to contest, so it'll be an even match!" "Pi pika!"
"But May is using a water type and Y/N said that she's gonna stick to Magnemite-" Brock immediately put a hand on his mouth "shouldn't have said that out loud"
"Go Squirtle"
"Magnemite, c'mon out!"
The timer immediately started as none of you were ready to attack each other
'if we don't attack, we're gonna get a yellow card like Harley and Jessiebelle' May thought with a frown on her face
'i guess I have to start to prevent us from loosing' "Magnemite! Use thundershock!"
"Squirtle, dodge that and use water gun!"
Magnemite took the attack loosing some points but not getting affected by it much.
"Alright, now use bubble!"
"Use swift on the bubbles and destroy them!"
The stadium got covered in sparkles when the bubbles got popped by swift
"Now, use zap cannon on squirtle!"
"Squirtle use water gun once more!"
Zap cannon was stuck with the water gun mid way unable to attack squirtle.
"Now Squirtle, tackle!"
"Dodge and use Zap cannon once more!"
This time the move attacked squirtle immediately fainting it.
"Squirtle is unable to battle! Magnemite wins! Meaning Y/N moves onto the next round!"
The crowd cheered while your friends figured out what to feel about this battle between two friends.
The next match started and Harley immediately won on it meaning that the final match will be between and you and Harley.
"No way you're going to loose this match Y/N!" May started crying threatening you that if you don't win May's going to beat you up to death.
"Calm down May! I'm not letting him win anyways" you said glaring at Harley who was smirking at you from the corner "let's see how you're going to win, Harley."
The match again started with Harley sending out his ariados and you sending out Magnemite.
"Let the match begin!"
"Ariados! Use string shot!" It immediately trapped Magnemite inside making it not being able to move. "Heh, now, Ariados lift it up and throw it onto the ground!" Your points immediately reduced a lot.
"Magnemite! Try to do something!"
"I'm sorry Y/N, but I guess you have to loose this time~"
"Not happening Harley! Magnemite! Use thundershock on ariados!" It almost hit ariados but still missed
"Awh poor Y/N, is the string shot too heavy for you to deal with?~"
"Honestly saying shut the hell up now!"
Ariados used string shot once more to get on the roof and lifted Magnemite up with it.
"Now cover the whole stage up with string shot!" This move surprisingly ended up making the whole stage look more pretty and the crowd also loved it. "And now throw magnemite on one of the webs!"
"Magnemite! Use Zap cannon in the way!" Magnemite nodded using the move before eventually falling on a web hitting Ariados right in the face. "Now get (fly) up and use thundershock to end this match!"
The thundershock travelled through all the webs and also attacked Ariados, lighting up the strings at the end, creating a beautiful ending to the match.
"And with that! Y/N and Magnemite won the match! Meaning today's saffron city's ribbon goes to Y/N and Magnemite!"
"Alright!" "Pi Pikachu!"
"That's what we wanted to see!"
"Let's go Y/N! You did it!"
"Finally Harley can quit being annoying for a while!"
Lillian smiled handing you the ribbon while Harley watched you all angrily from the sidelines.

"Congratulations on winning the match Y/N"
"yeah you did a great job!" "Pika!"
"Aw thank you guys-"
"Hey! Wait up!" Harley interrupted you stopping everyone from moving on
"What do you want from us again now, Harley?" May yelled clearly pissed off
"Hey hey hey, now don't have to be so grumpy, you lost the contest anyways so keep quiet" Harley rolled his eyes making May embarassed at his words.
"You don't have the right to talk to my friends like that Harley! What is it that you want?"
"Just wanted to talk to you about something....in private"
You didn't liked that idea but still nodded walking behind the contest hall with him.
"What do you want, Harley?"
"Oh it's nothing much, Y/N, just wanted to tell you that.....you have to back down Y/N. Quit helping out my enemies."
Your eyes widened in shock 'what is he trying to tell? Back down?' "back d-down? From what? And enemies..?"
"You know what I'm talking about Y/N. don't act dumb. We all could become friends like before if you stop helping out May like that. I don't mean to harm you but you're leaving no choice to me. If you don't stop befriending her, I'll make sure that you won't be able to participate in the grand festival. Remember that Y/N." Harley looked at you one last time before walking away.
'stop helping may or i won't be able to participate in the grand festival...? What will this guy even trying to do?'
