Announcer: the first match if the 4th round is Steven Stone, the Hoenn region champion against the very first Alola region champion Ash Ketchum!
Meowth: now it's twerp time, rock and roll!
James: batting someone with panache and power!
Jessie: (eating some food) I'm not even so sure if the twerp has half a chance.
(With the gang)
Goh: Hop, would you mind moving down a bit please?
Hop: got it.
(He picks up his wooloo and moves a little as does (Y/N) as Iris approaches)
Hop: (sees Iris) the Unova champion!?
Iris: hello there Hop (sits down next to him) I hear you're Leon's brother, it's nice to meet you.
Hop: nice to meet you too.
Iris: (rubbing her cheek against wooloo and rubbing wooloo's fur) so cute! And fluffy!
Hop: why are you sitting here, in this stand?
Goh: she wants to feel the energy if the stadium first hand.
Hop: that's just like ash and (Y/N).
Referee: for this round each contestant gets 3 Pokémon with no limits in time or switching. The one who leaves all of their opponent's Pokémon unable to battle wins! Also, a contestant can only use dynamax, a Z move or mega evolution once per match! (We see Ash has all 3 on his hands well one on his hand and the other two on his wrists)
Hop: check it out Ash has got all 3!
Goh: the result of lots of adventures.
Hop: hey don't you have all 3 too (Y/N)? I'm pretty sure I saw them all in your match against Lance
(Y/N): yes, I do.
Ash: okay Steven, I'm the one advancing to the semifinals.
Steven: you don't say huh. Then I expect great things , I love forward to see what kind of battle you'll bring. (Looking at all of Ash's mechanics)
Referee: now both of you, please send out your first Pokémon out to the field in 3,2,1 go!
Steven: go Metagross!
Ash: dracovish I choose you!
(Both the shiny metagross and dracovish come out their pokeballs)
Announcer: each of the first Pokémon have been revealed. First match up will be a collision beteeen dracovish and metagross
(Backstage)
Leon: show me what you've got, rookie.
Referee: battle begin!
Ash: hydro pump!
Seven: use agility!
(Dracovish fires hydro pump as metagross uses agility to dodge and get in close quickly )
Ash: (grinning) use fishious rend!
(Dracovish uses fishious rend)
Steven: use psychic let's go!
(Metagross' X on its face glows blue as Dracovish hits fishious rend first dealing major damage)
Ash: oh yeah!
Steven: hmmm.
(Metagross manages to use psychic hand sends dracovish flying back as metagross skids back itself and is shown to be hurt as dracovish lands on it's butt and feeling the psychic from Steven's strongest Pokémon)
Announcer: and fishious rend holds off the psychic attack!
(We see both Pokémon are still standing)
Steven: he predicted that.
Hop: Ash sure has some moves.
Goh: yeah fishious rend is even more powerful if it lands first.
Iris: Dracovish's strong jaw agility is amazing it's giving it even more power.
(Y/N): though I'd still say they're about on equal footing still.
Ash POV
Ash thoughts: Paul, my battle with you is already paying off.
(Flashback of when Paul's metagross used agility)
Ash thoughts: closing in with agility and then using psychic. I had a feeling you knew how Steven would battle then you helped me train for it (we see Paul and Reggie watching the TV as they're watching Ash's battle)
Steven: metagross return! (Returns Metagross) aggron let's go! (Sends out aggron)
Rotom phone: aggron, the iron armour Pokémon, a steel/rock type. Aggron has a sharp horn that can pierce through thick iron. It rams opponents with its horn to stop them in their tracks.
Steven: let me tell you, the thing is, I am considered the most powerful trainer in the Hoenn region. (We see Birch, Harley, Drew, Katie, Kelly, Morrison and Tyson all watching the match in Hoenn) but that's not nearly enough for me. The Pokémon world coronation series, it is only when I dominate this event I can trust say that I'm the strongest and the best!
(Backstage)
Diantha: I've never seen Steven this fired up before.
(Back on the battlefield)
Ash: and the same for us! (Ash and Pikachu look at each other and nod as they look back at Steven) for all the people who cheered me on up until now (we see Cerise, Chloe, Chrysa, Ren, mimey, eevee and ponyta) for all of my Pokémon (we see Ash's Pokémon along with Tracy, Delia and Oak) I'll win this, for sure! Dragon rush go!
(Dracovish charges in with dragon rush)
Steven: use heavy slam!
(Aggron has this iron like aura surround it and kales at dracovish as the two moves clash as tney hesdbutt as dracovish is sent flying as aggron doesn't move as dracovish lands on it's back but we see it get back up)
Ash: dracovish can you go on?
(Dracovish weakly nods)
Steven: aggron heavy slam one more time.
(Aggron charges in with heavy slam once more)
Ash: dracovish hydro pump!
(Dracovish uses hydro pump hitting aggron but it powers through and hits dracovish once again who lands on it's back but gets back up but when it goes to make a sound and move its fins it falls back down and is unable to battle)
Referee: dracovish is unable to battle!
Announcer: a matchup of power vs power goes to aggron, though dracovish did land a hydro pump before it went down.
Iris: poor dracovish, it sure fought hard.
Goh: I'll tell you, Steven is really strong.
Jessie: (angrily eating) I told you, the twerp's completely outclassed!
Meowth: have you lost it?
James: are you mad?
Jessie: I'M TOTALLY NOT MAD!!!
Wobbufett: (scared) Wobbu- Wobbu- wobb (we see Meowth and James are scared too)
Ash: dracovish return (returns dracovish) thanks for your hard work. (Gets out another Pokeball) gengar now, I choose you! (Sends out gengar as gengar is laughing) let's go, will-o-wisp!
(Gengar uses will-o-wisp as they are launched and hit aggron as aggron is now burned and it's phycial attack power is cut in half as aggron falls to one knee)
Steven: a fire move.
Announcer: now that aggron is burned it can't recover its strength!
(We see Ash's Pokémon celebrating)
Steven: use smart strike!
(Aggron charges in with smart strike as its horn glows blue hitting gengar and knocking it away like it did dracovish as gengar bounced and rolls across the floor as aggron is hurt by burn once again)
Announcer: the burn is stealing aggron's strength!
Ash: gengar here it comes (we see gengar getting up slowly at first but then it just gets up)
Steven: quick rock tomb let's go!
(Aggron uses rock tomb and fires them at gengar)
Ash: use dazzling gleam!
(Gengar uses dazzling gleam as the rock tombs land all around it as it acts like a shield before gengar keeps expanding the dazzling gleam out destroying the rocks and hits aggron knocking it back as aggron skids back but is still standing)
Ash: (he and gengar are surprised) it still hasn't fallen?!
(Aggron roars as it's hurt by burn once again as Steven grits his teeth)
Steven: aggron. (We see the burn stop as aggron falls forwards and is unable to battle)
Referee: aggron is unable to battle!
Ash: yeah! You didn't it gengar! (Gengar celebrates with Ash)
Announcer: even it's steel armour couldn't protect it against the nasty burn. (We see his old Pokémon celebrate at Oak's lab)
Oak: (grinning) that's my kind of training.
(Back at the stadium)
Goh: great going Ash! Gengar!
Iris: although it does seem they just squeezed through for the win.
Steven: now aggron return (returns aggron) many thanks. I should've known (gets out another Pokeball) crazily let's go! (Sends out cradily)
Announcer: Steven's third Pokémon is cradily!
Rotom phone: cradily, the barnacle Pokémon, a rock/grass type. After grabbing food with it's tentacles it gains nutrients by digesting the food whole.
(We see gengar has its tongue out and seems to be taunting it of sorts)
Steven: now power whip!
(Cradily uses power whip as 4 of its tentacles glow green and extend out as gengar flies about trying to avoid them but they follow and starts to get whacked by them as Ash is surprised)
Announcer: cradily is making use of its tentacles with power whip! Gengar has no place to go! (We see gengar getting smacked around as we see it's trapped and stuck as cradily as gengar's arm and feet in it's power whip stopping it from moving freely)
Ash: no! (We see Steven smiling)
Jessie/James/Meowth: entrapment!
(We cut over to the gang as Iris gasps)
Goh: so that's the reason he went with cradily
Hop: it's so scary.
(Meanwhile (Y/N) stays quiet as he looks at Ash intently)
(Y/N) thoughts: come on Ash, you've got this.
Steven: use ingrain!
(We see cradily's feet as these vines come out of them and dig into the ground)
Diantha: it can't switch out when ingrain is used meaning Steven plans to stop gengar right here and now.
(Back to the battle)
Ash: use sludge bomb and get out of there!
(Gengar fires sludge bombs out of its mouth hitting cradily in the face as we see it's gaining health from the roots from ingrain as it seems just fine still as it has gengar trapped)
Iris: now it's stronger!
Hop: no matter how many attacks gengar lands it's just wasting it's own energy.
Goh: now what Ash, what will you do.
(We see Ash gritting his teeth in frustration)
Steven: meteor beam.
(Cradily begins charging meteor beam as gengar is still stuck as there's a bright light as Ash, Pikachu and gengar shade their eyes to handle the light better as he gets an idea from this)
Ash: that's it, fight light with light. Gengar use dazzling gleam!
(Gengar starts to use dazzling gleam as it expands out and cradily fires meteor beam as the two moves clash as the moves Edson out and get bigger as they clash as both trainers shade their eyes so they can see as there's an explosion as the energy barriers appear to protect the crowd from the smoke as we see gengar is free)
Announcer: Ash used the collision of the two attack moves to free gengar from those tentacles! (We see cradily's ingrain as it begins to get health back)
Steven: good move Ash.
Ash: gengar use shadow ball!
(Gengar forms a shadow ball)
Steven: quick, power whip!
(Cradily uses power whip once again as gengar floats around them to dodge as it throws the shadow ball which hits cradily but it's hit loads by the three tentacles covered power whips as it falls to the ground)
Ash: gengar!
(We see gengar is unable to battle)
Referee: gengar is unable to battle!
Announcer: Ash has lost his second Pokémon (we see cradily getting more back from ingrain)
Ash: alright gengar return (returns gengar) you worked hard, that won't go to waste. Okay Pikachu, she's 'em how. (We see Pikachu nod and is so ready to battle as it gets onto the battlefield)
Announcer: and there it is! That explosive bolt of lightning Pikachu!
Steven: so your number one partner is up now.
Iris: Pikachu give it your all!
Hop: electric type attacks won't work very well
Goh: not only that, metagross can still be used. Ash is in a very difficult spot.
(Y/N): is that doubt I'm hearing Goh?
Goh: huh?
(Y/N): Pikachu is Ash's strongest partner he'll know exactly how Ash is feeling and will turn those feelings into power. Basically, when they're in a position like this they're more dangerous than ever. After all, he wants to beat Leon or if I beat Leon then he'll have to face and beat me if he wants to be at the top, I won't hold back any punches. A Pokémon battle ain't over until it's over (grins) and this one, this one is just beginning. (Faces Goh as he's serious) Do you still doubt him Goh?
Goh: no way! I'm gonna cheer for him until the very end!
Iris: me too!
(Y/N): (grins) then we'll do just that.
(With team rocket)
Meowth: it's Pikachu time!
James: I smell a turnaround.
Jessie: Pikachu don't even think about losing! Do you hear me!
Wobbufett: Wobbu Wobbu!
(Back to the battle)
Steven: rock blast now!
Ash: quick attack let's go!
(Pikqvhu uses quick attack and hits cradily as cradily begins firing rock blasts at Pikachu)
Ash: jump on the rocks to get there! (We see Pikachu jumping on the rocks as it jumps high into the air)
Iris: what a jump!
Hop: but what's it gonna do up there.
Goh: cradily keeps healing, this battle needs a quick decision.
(Y/N): (grins) I think I know.
(Back to the battle)
Steven: use power whip!
(Cradily uses it's tentacles for power whip as they extend out but it uses all of them this time)
Ash: electroweb!
(Pikachu uses electroweb as it fires it and traps all of the tentacles)
Steven: what now!
Goh: alright it's caught it
Hop: was that what it was aiming at?
Iris: yeah, that's what Ash is all about.
(Backstage as Cynthia and Diantha look surprised as Leon smiles)
Leon: this is kinda fun.
(We see cradily can't get it's tentacles free)
Ash: use iron tail!
(Pikachu uses iron tail as it runs across the tentacles and jumps into the air and slams it down on cradily's head as the power whip stops as cradily falls unable to battle)
Referee: cradily is unable to battle!
Ash: alright! (Pikachu celebrates too)
Announcer: with the loss of Steven's second Pokémon each contestant has one Pokémon left.
Steven: that was just terrific, each one of your moves gets me totally surprised Ash.
Ash: it's all because gengar set it up for Pikachu. (We see Pikachu is ready for more)
Jessie: talk about tough. Yep, that's out Pikachu.
Meowth: quite tenacity
Wobbufett: wobbufett.
James: do you have any idea what this could possibly lead to?
(Back to the battle)
Steven: cradily return. (Returns cradily) you did very well. Win or lose, this is the final showdown (gets out metagross' pokeball) metagross let's go! (Sends out his shiny metagross)
Ash: it's metagross.
Announcer: and so with the 4th match of the first round the question remains, which contestant will make it to the semifinals!
Steven: (gets his keystone out) sparkling stone give our bond form! (Activates it as the mega stone on one of metagross' front right leg activates as the blue energy connects up with the keystone's energy) now metagross, mega evolve! (Metagross mega evolves into mega metagross)
Announcer: Steven and mega metagross are ready to wrap up this match.
Ash: alright Pikachu use thunderbolt!
(Pikachu fires thunderbolt)
Steven: it's not gonna work.
(We see mega metagross pretty much disappear since it's so fast as thunderbolt misses)
Ash: Pikachu keep attacking with thunderbolt!
(Pikachu attacks with more thunderbolts as mega metagross keeps dodging with ease)
Announcer: none of pikachu's attacks are landing! Mega metagross is reading where each attack is heading and dodging every single one. (We see that Pikachu has fired off god knows how many thunderbolts but none have hit their mark as Ash is getting frustrated)
Steven: because this is mega Metagross it can anticipate all of pikachu's moves (we still see the thunderbolts fired off are not hitting as it appears right in front not Pikachu out of nowhere catching the electric type off guard)
Steven: alright meteor mash!
(Mega metagross uses meteor mash hitting Pikachu and sending it launched back)
Ash: Pikachu no!
(We see Pikachu land as it's got damaged a lot as everyone watches on)
Diantha: they say mega metagross has not only enhanced battling awareness but has excellent analytical skills as well. It's reading pikachu's movements, breathing, everything and instantly analysing them to dodge the attacks.
Cynthia: this has turned into quite a tough battle for Ash.
(We see Pikachu is feeling the pain but it's still standing)
Ash: use iron tail!
(Pikachu jumps and uses iron tail as mega metagross dodges with ease as Pikachu is left in the air unable to properly defend itself)
Steven: metagross use psychic,
(Mega metagross uses psychic as Pikachu is lifted into the air)
Ash: Pikachu!
(Pikachu is flung about while it's trapped in psychic and then slammed into the ground as it's even more badly damaged as it slowly gets back up but is heavily damaged as Ash is getting more frustrated)
Announcer: mega metagross' attacks are really putting on the pressure. Pikachu is doing nothing but taking damage but that's Steven for you, his calm decisions are putting Ash right into a corner.
(Ash is getting frustrated but stops as he smiles and takes his hat off)
Ash: Pikachu! (He throws his hat into the air as Pikachu jumps and the hat lands on Pikachu's head) alright Pikachu, here we go! (Activates his Z ring)
Iris: isn't that...
Hop: a Z move!
Goh: and not a moment too soon!
Steven: wow a Z move.
(Team rocket are amazed and are excited)
(Backstage)
Cynthia: a Z move!
(Back to the battle)
Ash: (gets into the pose as Pikachu lands and they high five hand to risk and fist bump as they both punch the air as the energy from the Z ring to Pikachu filling it with Z power) much bigger than a thunderbolt, 10 million volt thunderbolt. Yeah this is much, much bigger. At super full power! Pikachu, use 10 million volt thunderbolt!
(Pikachu jumps as electrify forms around with such high voltage we see loads of colourful volts if electricity surround Pikachu from the sky as they clouds go dark full of thunderclouds as it fires them)
Steven: metagross dodge it!
(Mega metagross begins dodging and appears behind Pikachu)
Steven: use flash cannon!
(Mega metagross begins ti charge flash cannon but the colourful bolts of electricity redirect themselves as the blue one blocks the flash cannon)
Steven: what!
Ash: yes!
(Mega metagross is then hit by all the other ones as it's struck with millions of volts worth of electricity as it falls to the ground and is hurt a lot)
(Y/N) thoughts: (sees this) controlling that electrical energy and power, this gives me an idea.
(Back to the battle)
Steven: controlling electricity at will.
Ash: we're done. Use iron tail!
(Pikachu with Ash's hat still jumps and uses iron tail as the heavily damaged mega metagross looks only for Pikachu to hit it in the face with the very move Pikachu learned on its adventure with Ash in Hoenn delivering a powerful smack as mega metagross goes on it's back once again and it turns back into normal metagross as it's unable to battle)
Referee: metagross is unable to battle, Pikachu is the winner and the victory goes to Ash Ketchum!
(We hear the crowd cheer)
Ash: alright! (Pikachu is celebrating with him)
Announcer: and it's a win for Ash, the Alola region champion will now move onto the semifinals and his next opponent will be Cynthia!
(We see Cynthia smiling)
Cynthia: ready Ash? Our match is near.
Goh/Iris: (both celebrating) Ash won! Ash won!
Goh: that 10 million volt thunderbolt gave me chills!
Hop: Ash being able to work like that with Pikachu is incredible!
Goh: time for a party featuring Galar curry! Yay!
Iris: yay!
Hop: yeah!
(With team rocket)
Meowth: that's our Pikachu for you.
James: that's the twerp for you!
Jessie: talk about totally upsetting the game board! Hey do you think they could actually... you know...
Wobbufett: Wobbu! Wobb, Wobb, Wobb! Wobbu!
(We cut to the battlefield as Ash picks up Pikachu as they celebrate as Steven approaches Ash)
Ash: hey Steven.
Steven: you know Ash, the feelings you have for your Pokémon and the way they respond to you, they have their all in battle for that. They came together as one and as a result created greater power and that's the reason you were able to grasp your victory today and a spectacular win it was.
Announcer: and with this the 4 masters 8 tournament semifinal round contestants have been decided. We'll be bringing you Leon, (Y/N), Cynthia and Ash. Mark my words, the most exciting battles of the masters 8 tournament are still yet to come!
(We cut to outside the stadium)
Steven: your next opponent is Cynthia but still with Pikachu and your other Pokémon you can win, I believe in you Ash.
Iris: I can't wait for you to tell me all about it!
Diantha: we'll have to see, she's no pushover.
Ash: well that's just what I'm gonna do.
Goh: now don't let your guard down.
Ash: you can count on me, I've gotta be the one to battle Leon. Right buddy? (Pikachu agrees)
(Y/N): what happens if I beat Leon eh (smirks)
Ash: then I'll battle and beat you but nothing is stopping me from battling Leon again, no matter what.
Goh: that whole keep your guard up thing especially goes for you (Y/N), you're facing Leon next after all
Iris: I wish you luck too, he's the undefeated champion.
(Y/N): I may not be undefeated but I haven't lost a world coronation series battle yet so it's streak vs streak and me and my Pokémon are gonna give it our all!
Iris: best wishes, both of you give it your all!
(The 3 champions of Hoenn, Unova and Kalos respectively all walk away as we see Leon in the stadium still as he looks at the battlefield as the next matches are Leon vs (Y/N) and Ash vs Cynthia)
(Extra scene as we cut to Goh, (Y/N) and Ash as they stop as (Y/N) looks serious as his eyes are shadowed over)
(Y/N): Ash we're friends right?
Ash: yeah of course.
(Y/N): then I hope you forgive me for this but I need to get it off my chest. I think it's best you don't watch my battle.
Ash: huh! But why!
(Y/N): because we both need to get stronger and I'm your friend so I want you to succeed even if it leads to my downfall and elimination from the masters 8! I want you to train with your Pokémon while I'm having my match! Because whether it's me or Leon, we'll both wanna fight you at your best! Your Pokémon, Pikachu, Dragonite, gengar, Lucario, Sirfetch'd, Dracovish, they're all so strong yet can go even further. You're such an amazing trainer with a better growth rate and teaching method than someone like me! So Ash Ketchum, if I fail to defeat Leon, I'm putting my trust, hopes and dreams all on you, for you to be the one to beat Leon and show why you're the best and strongest trainer in the world, ok!
Ash: I will, I promise!
(Y/N):... thanks (we see he's smiling as he's crying a little) you two are some of the best friends someone like me can ask for (he wipes the tears away as he's grinning once again as he holds his fist out)
(In response Ash smiles and fist bumps him as they both look at Goh and the three nod to one another as Goh is smiling and fist bumps too as it's their three way fist bump)
