I stood with the phone barely touching my ear. I felt the warmth of my breath against the receiver.
"Why did you leave so suddenly?" Boris asked, after a few moments of silence.
"I, uh.. I had to do something. I'm sorry." I replied, looking down.
"I have to tell you something, potter."
My heart pounded. "What?"
"Please don't be upset.." he started, and took a deep breath.
"I promise.." I whispered.
"I love you potter, I always have.."
"I love you too boris.."
"You are my best friend."
I smiled. "You are mine too."
"Which is why this is really hard.." he said, and swallowed.
"Hard?" I asked, becoming confused.
"You see.. I haven't been able to tell you this, but I think I like girls potter.. ever since I saw Pippa, I've gotten feelings for her. I know I acted jealous yes, but that's because I was jealous of you being around her.. I know this is horrible and I am sorry. Maybe we should break up.."
i paused.
Silence.
"..what?" I asked.
"I like Pippa, Theodore.."
"But.. but you couldn't-" i stammered.
"I've been thinking about it.. I know how you must feel, and I'm so sorry. I am truly the worst boyfriend. We must break up."
"No, Boris, please.. please say you are kidding.."
"I'm not kidding, Theo. I'm so sorry. I love you as a best of friend. I would like to remain friends with you.. Is that okay?"
I choked on tears.
"Potter..?"
I dropped the phone, sobbing, and fell slowly to the floor.
"I'm sorry potter.. Thank you for everything. You'll always be my best friend."
