"The things that I've seen are so terrifying, even I get scared thinking of them..."

It had gotten much colder by the time they were up and walking to Avara's house. The deadbeat Utah town had already reached thirty degrees. But then again, it was midnight after all.

Simon said that he would help Avara find her way home. He was glad that she knew her own address, but was upset by that fact because that meant that she had to go home, meaning he wouldn't be around her.

Keep her near the voices spoke.

Take care.

Following the directions from his phone, he saw that they were ten minutes away from her house. They had already been walking for about forty minutes so far, and his heart hurt when he figured she was lost for almost an hour, scared and cold.

"You come from a long way, sweetheart." He whispered into the air, his breath being seen from every word that came out of his mouth.

He hadn't expected a response, but he was sure hoping for one. Simon frowned as he looked back to check in on her, but his face turned to one of worry when he found her standing ten feet away from him.

Despite the small distance, he jogged up to her and put his hands on her shoulders, slightly shaking her a bit. He realized that she was asleep with her eyes closed.

"Avara, wake up baby."

Avara woke up to the comforting voice of Simon, and was a bit surprised to see him standing right in front of her.

From the little fright, Avara dropped her strawberries.

Avara suddenly became overwhelmed with everything happening to her. She was freezing, exhausted, and her legs had started to hurt fifteen minutes ago. Now, she had dropped her strawberries that she had saved for her parents.

Avara's eyes become teary, not being able to handle the things that were happening.

"I-Im sorry, I c-can't" She sobbed, letting her mind fog over completely.

It was just too much for her.

Her parents would always tell her that she needed to try harder to clear her head faster, but right now, she couldn't do it. She needed someone, anyone to care for her.

At that moment, Simon was going to be that person.

"Oh baby." He cooed, wrapping his arms around her waist before picking her up into the air, releasing all the weight from her legs.

He felt her lazily wrap her legs around his body immediately, like a sleepy koala. Simon held Avara close as he stood there for a moment, letting her get used to him.

Looking down at her, Simon could see her teeth chattering under her chapped lips. Avara's hands were by her chest, almost like she was praying with fists to get warmer. He brought his free hand up to her face and brushed the loose strands of hair away from her face.

So precious he thought.

Simon pushed her face into his neck. Simon had always been able to provide body heat no matter the circumstance, so it was never a problem for him. But now? He was going to take advantage of this fact for his precious girl.

Simon almost flinched when Avara's cold nose hit his neck. She was so cold that he was almost tempted to pull away, but watching Avara become comfortable because of him, using him didn't seem to bother him as much.

Simon frowned at the dropped strawberries on the floor, knowing that Avara would be upset about it.

Fuck that. I have money. I'll buy her a whole fucking farm. He thought.

He knew that he was getting ahead of himself, but he couldn't help but think about spoiling this girl to no end. He didn't know much about her, but he knew that she deserved it.

Holding her close, Simon followed the directions on his phone to Avara's house, letting his precious girl sleep in his arms the entire way there.

-

He definitely noticed that her family was bound to be rich. The neighborhood just screamed wealth, dollar bills painted on the sides of the house. He had never seen so many columns on just one side of a house, any at all.

By now, Avara was fast asleep, still clinging onto him as if her life depended on him. He could feel that her skin had become warmer now, no thanks to him.

Her soft breathing near his ears made him happy. She was safe and comfortable, which is all that he wanted. The smell of her strawberry scented hair was becoming his new favorite thing.

He was glad that she was in better shape, all because of him.

As he reached her house, he went to the top of the steps, standing before the front door. It was a pretty wood stained door, which complimented the white exterior surrounding it. Looking around, he could see that the front of the house had a ton of plants, and he somehow knew that his little girl had put those up.

Simon turned off his phone before putting it on silent mode, making sure that nothing would interrupt his time with his girl.

He'd be pissed if some fucker tried to call him while he was trying to spend time with Avara.

Simon started to bounce Avara's body in his arms, trying to wake her up in something more comfortable for her.

When Avara woke up to find Simon bouncing her in his arms, she giggled at the sight and feeling. Who knew that such a grown and scary man could be so childlike?

"What are you laughing at, sweet girl?" Simon's rough voice asked, his words drilling into her head like a soft lullaby.

Avara didn't know why, but she felt...nice every time Simon would talk to her that way. It wasn't in a mean, harsh, or teasing way. It was just firm yet soft at the same time.

Simon watched as Avara titled her head while scrunching her nose at the same time. His look immediately softened at the girl in front of him.

Such a precious baby. My precious baby.

"Y-You're so silly." Avara squeaked out, lifting her tiny finger and gently reaching to touch his face. She couldn't help it. She wanted to know if it was as rough as it looked. It was different from what she had normally seen. Her father had been pretty good about skincare all his life, and Avara hadn't really seen anyone else with what looked like such a rough texture.

Avara lightly pushed her finger into the man's cheek, digging her finger into his skin, not forcefully, just lightly. She realized that his skin was actually quite soft, but just looked rough. It didn't really surprise her, since she knew that looks could be deceiving.

Obviously, the scary man holding her like a baby was a perfect example of this.

"Boop." Avara said with a smile after her finger was pushed into his cheek.

Simon smiled as well.

right before trying to chomp her finger off.

Avara squealed before giggling, lightly hitting Simon's hard chest in retaliation.

"Put m-me down." She calmly said, and even though Simon didn't want to let her go, he reluctantly did.

Avara brushed herself off before facing the door. Not wanting to wake her parents up, she tried to open the door as quietly as she could, but she realized that wasn't needed.

The door was already unlocked. When Avara lightly put her hand on it, it immediately opened.

Avara was confused. Her parents always locked the door, that was the one thing that they were adamant about.

"Mama a-and papa a-always lock t-the door." Avara whispered. She looked at Simon, hoping that he had heard her so that he could help her.

He did.

Simon had seen things like this before. Hell, he has been the reason for things like this before. He never once felt any pity towards anyone dealing with this situation, but now? Now, he wanted to hurt whoever made his baby scared.

Simon took a step forward into the house, reaching his hand behind him for Avara to grab, just so that he knew that she was right behind him.

He needed to know that she was always with him.

If he wasn't so focused on making sure there would be no harm to Avara, he would be smiling over the fact that Avara's hand was so tiny in comparison to his that she was only able to hold his pinky and ring finger.

Walking into the house, he could see all the decorations out of place. Flower vases were knocked over, picture frames were shattered, it was chaotic.

Simon heard a gasp behind him and turned around.

Avara was behind Simon, holding his large hand tightly, when she looked to her left, which was the family room. The room had two couches facing each other and a small coffee table in the middle. The fireplace was vacant of any wood or fire. But, on the floor, were her two parents.

Lying dead with bullets through their heads.

"S-Simon." Avara whimpered before running over to her parents.

Avara dropped to her knees and started crying for the third time today. She looked to her dad, seeing his eyes closed, head tilted to the side. She remembers the times where he would throw her up in the air when she was a little girl.

Avara cried harder.

She looked to her mother, but this was worse. Her mother's eyes were wide open in fright, but lifeless. Avara looked deep into her eyes, but she shouldn't have done that.

Avara started to sob. She cried and cried, much harder than she had ever cried in her life.

Simon went down on his knees with her, and again, with no hesitation, she took the crying girl into his arms, letting her cry until she couldn't no more.

Simon was furious. He was angry at whoever caused his Avara any pain, whether mental or physical.

And making Simon Drake angry?

You might as well go to the devil himself, for the punishment would be much more graceful than facing Simon Drake.

"...but don't worry, I'll always protect you from them."

First chapter! I posted this really fast, but I also had a ton of free time today so that gave me a lot of time to write and I just couldn't help but post.

I realize that this story is moving kind of fast, but I feel as if that's okay. I do have in mind some other stories that I plan to write that will definitely not be as fast paced as this, but you know what, yolo. I kind of like the fast pace, and it makes sense that a psycho and a naive girl will be together a lot faster than normal couples.

I love the little support I've gotten. Even if it's just a simple comment or vote, it takes something small to motive me :)

Anyways, a new chapter is coming out soon!

Until next time <3
