☆F/N - Friend's name - ☆

The wind blew hard, rattling the trees around me as I stepped carefully through the snow. The forest seemed dead, strangely empty. Snow fell around me as I walked, giving everything a softer look to it. I smiled to myself, trying to push away the strange feeling I felt deep in my heart.

A strange feeling of dread I couldn't put my finger on.

I kept going, the snow slowly becoming denser as I got closer to home. It didn't take long until I was facing my house, its windows tinted with light from inside. I stared for a second before I turned my attention to the rustic little shed. Something seemed wrong, it didn't look like how it normally did.

I felt my stomach drop as I approached, getting closer to the little shed.

I could feel every heartbeat resonate in my chest as I walked closer to it. I put a hand on the door, touching its weathered surface. It calmed me down a little bit, bringing me back to reality. I slipped my hand in the crack, the door seeming a bit more ajar than it did when I had left.

I drew in a small breath, my hand gripping the door's edge. I pulled it open, its hinges squeaking loudly as I did, echoing through the empty little space.

I looked into the small room, my eyes peering through the strange light fog. I glanced around, no sign of Cubic. I stared, taking in another breath before entering. I stepped inside, the floorboards creaking under me. I looked around, the feeling of dread in my heart only getting worse.

"H-Hey Cubic? Y-You there?" I managed to call out, trying to hide my nervousness.

No one replied, the silence was deafening.

"H-Hey? This isn't funny." I spoke, my heart pounded in my chest as fear coiled around me.

The room looked much dustier than it had before, footprints ingrained on the floor near the door. I carefully stepped over the prints, trying not to disturb anything. Soon enough, my attention was drawn to my left, towards the gardening equipment. I couldn't help but feel like everything was slightly out of place somehow, none of it looking quite right.

I could only hope my mind was playing tricks on me.

I continued inwards, my eyes glancing to anything that could be a clue to where the small corrupt went.

My shoe soon hit something sharp, causing me to look down at it.

A part of the floorboards was broken.

I bent down, looking around the area. I touched the shattered floorboards, their wooden splinters threatening to cut me. I looked closer, pink threads littered around the edges.

They were the same color as his jacket.

I froze, everything feeling like it was starting to fall apart. Fear rushed through my mind as I continued to stare, more questions coming up than answers.

Then, I saw the shadow looming over me.

I felt my heart drop, causing me to panic more.

I tried to turn around, fear coiled around me, almost suffocating any thoughts I had.

I was stopped, a strange force throwing me into the wall behind me.

I now faced the figure, their pinkish hue staining the walls around them.

That's when the sudden pain hit, bleeding through my side. I touched the area with my hand, instinctively holding it. I felt my blood pool out around the strange needle lodged in my side.

The corrupt slowly approached, a small smile on their face. Shadows covered their form, the glistening of their eyes being one of the few things I could see.

I growled, trying to pull myself up. My legs felt shaky, like I wasn't standing on anything. I pulled myself together slightly, readying myself for a fight.

I couldn't let them win.

I summoned my weapons, quickly throwing them at the corrupt.

The corrupt froze, their expression dropping. They reached up, touching the new wound. Blood dripped to the floor, staining it. Worry stretched across their face before they looked up at me.

They grinned.

I froze, fear pounding in my chest. I backed up as much as I could, the corrupt approaching quicker.

Their smile... was familiar.

I couldn't put my finger on it, and I didn't want to.

I don't wanna die...

I felt my legs get weak, everything slowly feeling hazy, unreal.

The corrupt stepped closer, their smile growing the closer they got. I backed up into the wall, fear coiling around me as they got face to face with me. Their features blurry as whatever they injected into me kicked in. I tried to hold my balance as they kept me there. Their smile grew as they grabbed me, their hand resting under my chin, forcing me to look at them. Their smile was strangely comforting.

Then, they pushed me to the floor, not even really having to try.

As I laid there, they pulled out the needle that was lodged in my side, its tip was blue, glowing slightly in the dark.

I felt myself slowly slip away, the corrupt smiling happily to itself.

Everything became a blur, dark and empty.

My eyes fluttered open as I quickly pulled myself up, my panicked breath lingering in the air. I looked around frantically, my eyes adjusting to the new surroundings. As I looked around, my heart slowed, I remember this place....

F/N's home...

I looked around, my eyes darting to everything. The home was destroyed, ravaged. It hadn't changed from the last time I saw it.

I pulled myself up off of the ground, pieces of broken glass falling from me as I stood, my legs shaking a little.

I looked around, standing in the emptiness. Sunlight shone in my eyes, peeking in through the broken window. I turned my attention to it, my gaze now turned to the street outside.

The sky was blue, peaceful. No sign of the corruption.

Was it all a bad dream?

I looked back to the home again, time standing still. I faintly heard something, it sounded like crying.

I went up to the stairwell, looking up into the second floor. The sounds became louder as I got closer to the source. I carefully ascended the stairs, each step creaking softly. I eventually got to the top, the hallway leading to each room felt longer, much longer than it was before.

I slowly walked down it, going up to the only door I really ever went into.

F/N's.

I carefully opened the door, trying to be as quiet as possible. On the floor laid a broken photo of me and them, the two of us happy. I looked past the photo to see F/N, their form curled up, facing away from the door.

I stepped inside, approaching them carefully, trying not to scare them.

I got down, lightly touching their shoulder.

They quickly jolted around, staring at me with their scared eyes. They froze once they realized who I was.

Their expression changed to one of happiness.

"Y-Y/N?" They managed, tears still in their eyes.

I hugged them tightly, a smile forming on my face "Hey F/N..."

They hugged back, their grip tightening. I fell to my knees as they pulled me down to their level, not letting go. They cried into me, their choked sobs echoing around the two of us.

I couldn't help but cry a little, too.

We sat like that for a moment, neither of us wanting to let go. When they did, they looked me directly in the eyes. Their eyes sparkled, happiness shining through them. They soon pulled away, their attention focusing on outside. I looked out there, too, the sky a shade of grey as storm clouds moved in.

"I wanna go home, Y/N." They spoke softly, their voice echoing in the silence.

"But- but you are home?"

They sighed, looking away from me "No. This isn't home. Not anymore..."

"O-oh... right..." I looked away, looking to their destroyed room, all the memories of their childhood shattered around them. "I-I guess it's not anymore."

Silence echoed between us for a moment before they turned to me, "I'm glad I got to see you again, Y/N." A small smile formed on their face.

"I-Im glad I got to see you too." I smiled gently.

Silence filled the void for a second, causing me to look at them. I felt something turn in me as I stared at them. They hadn't changed from the last time I'd seen them, they looked like how they did before-

"Y/N? Why are you crying?" They spoke, their voice still as soft as ever.

I froze, my hand touching the tears. I looked away, "O-oh, it's nothing," I tried brushing it off, "I-Its just, I've missed you after all this time!"

"We both know that's not why you're crying, I can see it in your eyes." They sighed, worry on their face.

"I-I just- I-I'm sorry about how I caused all of- '' I began.

I felt them hug me, their form tightening around me "Y/N, It wasn't your choice, you shouldn't blame yourself." They spoke softly.

I looked away, wiping the tears away.

"But- B-But i do, because it was my fault."

"I don't blame you." They reassured me.

"Y-You don't?..." I looked down, guilt still twisting inside of my skin.

They held my hand gently, trying to comfort me. I held back, my heart slowing down slightly.

Silence cut between both of us, a strange silence. Despite what they said, I couldn't help but feel guilt coil around me, refusing to let go. I felt my friend grab my hand a bit tighter, making me look at them. They smiled at me, their eyes sparkling like gemstones.

"Hey Y/N?"

"Y-Yeah?" I spoke, my voice echoing.

"Promise me, after everything, you'll finally forgive yourself?" They smiled.

I froze for a second before smiling at them, "promise."

I felt myself get pulled into a hug, my friend not letting go. I closed my eyes for a second, their warmth soaking up into me.

But it changed, their body starting to feel... colder.

I opened my eyes again, their form changing hues. Pink, deep pink. My fingertips changing a similar, but lighter hue.

I felt a sharp pain hit me in my side.

"Don't blame yourself, Y/N..." They managed to speak, their voice sounding hoarse, different.

I jolted up, breathing heavily. I tried to move, my body feeling strangely trapped against whatever I was laying on top of. My eyes slowly adjusted to the dark, letting me see the true situation I was in.

I was somewhere new, somewhere I hadn't seen before.

A hospital.

I looked down, trying to move. My eyes gazed upon the 3 binds, one around my chest and two around my hands, keeping me still. The wound on my side was visible, blood from it soaked through my shirt. I began to struggle, fear wrapping around me. I couldn't let this be the end.

I froze, the sound of a voice echoing through the dark room.

That familiar voice.

"You don't know how long I've been waiting for this, Y/N."
