Ava got back to her photography job that Monday while Happy arrived back at the clubhouse ready to hear of any news that may have happened while he was away. Jax was the first to greet him back. When the assassin asked if anything had happened while he was gone, Jax quickly told him it had been quiet on all fronts and everything was going good. It eased Happy's mind to know things were still as they should be even in his absence. Her coworkers welcomed her back and noted how tan she looked making her laugh and thank them. They spent the majority of their time outside so it was no surprise she was a little tanner than she had been. He was naturally tan so being out the sun like they were didn't seem to affect him like it did her.
"Hey man, good to see you back. How was the vacation?" Tig asked when he noted Happy had returned.
"Alright I guess. She seemed to enjoy herself so that's all that matters." Happy grunted before waving the prospect over for a beer.
"You didn't have a good time?" Bobby inquired.
"I should have been here. Something could have happened while we were gone." Happy stated.
"But it didn't. We were fine. I promise." Jax told him as he got in on the conversation.
"Oh, the in-laws want all six of us over for dinner tomorrow night." Tig informed the assassin earning a simple head nod in return.
Happy never had much problem with his in-laws. They seemed to overlook the fact that he was an outlaw and had been to prison before. They didn't look down on him for being covered in tattoos or in the local MC. All they really cared about was how he treated their daughter. Ryu even had him teaching him some about riding motorcycles which Happy found hysterical. He couldn't see his father-in-law riding a Harley. Regardless, he told Ryu all he wanted to know. If he truly wanted to ride, Happy wanted his father-in-law to have all the proper information he could. Gemma came in to get all the bikers back to work. She welcomed Happy back but got him working with Juice on getting a couple repos done.
The following evening, each couple arrived minutes apart from one another at their parents' place. Massika greeted her daughters with tight hugs. The girls followed their mother into the kitchen to help with dinner prep while the men entered the living room where Ryu was sitting reading the newspaper. He greeted each man with a handshake and told them to get comfortable. He asked how they were all doing and each replied that they were doing quite well. Ryu just nodded silently. Ava was setting the elongated table while Elise was filling glasses with ice for tea. Remi was starting to bring pots to the dinner table for her mother. When everything was ready, Massika called the group to dinner.
Tig was the first to tell her how good everything looked and smelled earning a similar statement from Chibs and a head nod from Happy. Platters and bowls were passed around so everyone could get a little of this and a little of that. Remi thanked her mother for having them over that evening earning a head nod from her sisters making Massika shake her head and tell her that it was their pleasure to host them all together. Most of the time, they hosted one couple at a time. Dinner was going good until Ryu asked how everyone had enjoyed their vacation. Elise looked over at Chibs who just looked back at her.
"Well, uh, Chibs and I have decided at some point we want children." Elise stuttered.
"Really?" Massika excitedly exclaimed.
"Yes, really." Elise chuckled.
"When are you going to make me a Grandmother?" She asked.
"Well mom, we kind of need to start trying first. Not sure when this will happen but we're hoping it'll be a natural kind of ordeal." Elise stated making her sisters giggle at the underlying statement.
Tig just raised his eyebrow at his brother hearing of his desire for more children for the first time. He figured after the ordeal with Fiona and Kerrianne, he wouldn't want any more children.
"How many are you blessing us with?" Ryu inquired.
"We're shooting for two. Hopefully a boy and a girl." Elise replied.
"Do either of you want children as well?" Massika hopefully asked.
"You know I don't, mom. Tig and I have talked it over and neither of us do." Remi replied earning a frown.
"And you two?" Ryu looked between his youngest daughter and her husband.
"We haven't decided yet." Ava replied.
"Well, at least we'll have some grandchildren to spoil." Massika stated making Remi huff which made Tig smirk at her.
"Mom..." Remi started out.
"I'm not saying anything. You live your life the way you want to. Having children was such a blessing to us I just hate you losing out on that is all." Massika told her daughter.
"I like my freedom. I like being able to just pack up and go wherever I want without responsibility. Tig likes taking me out midnight bike rides and that wouldn't be able to happen if we had children." Remi retorted.
"Ok. I won't bring it up again." Her mother stated.
The girls helped their mother put away the leftovers and clean up from dinner as the men sat back down in the living room. The group chatted about their vacations and where the family was planning on spending the Christmas holiday. Massika was hosting Thanksgiving in her house and expected her daughters and their husbands to be there. Happy wanted to be with his brothers like he usually was but now he had an 'ol lady who had a family. A nice family. And he would get to spend a little extra time with her two older brothers. He couldn't help but wonder how the holidays were going to go with three bikers at their family celebrations.
Happy was surprised when Ryu asked the women where they wanted to go for their Christmas vacation. Apparently the Colorado resort they'd spent two previous stays at seemed to be the popular answer. It made Ryu laugh and tell them he'd consider it when he was making their plans. Tig couldn't wait to get away from the club and spend Christmas with his wife's family. He wanted to see her with all of her siblings and her parents away from California and work and the club. Just the family all together. Chibs couldn't help but think of the conversation at dinner about their plans on having children. When would it happen? Around ten pm, Ava began yawning and stated they should get home. All had to work the following day. Massika hugged all the women while Ryu were shaking the men's hands. Each couple left to head to their own residences.
"Hey babe? I'm sorry if my mom was a little...enthusiastic...about us having kids. She's been bugging us about settling down and having kids since we were twenty." Elise told her husband who just laughed.
"It's ok, love. I don' mind all the questions." He stated as he slipped his kutte off and hung it up by the front door.
"I just...I feel like she's a bit too pushy when it comes to that and it bugs me." Elise confessed.
"Don't let it. We'll let nature run its course. If it's meant t' be, it'll happen." Chibs stated as he walked back over and engulfed her waist with his arms, "Now, let's head to bed. We both have to work in the morning."
"Sounds good." Elise smiledup at him.
As soon as Happy and Ava made it home, she headed straight for their bedroom. He slowly followed suit after locking the doors and shutting off all the lights. She was already dressed for bed when he entered the bedroom. As she was turning down the covers to get into bed, he began to strip for bed himself. She was channel surfing when he finally climbed into bed. He didn't know whether or not he wanted children. He'd never thought he'd have an 'ol lady so having children was never in his thoughts. But now he was married. She was his 'ol lady. They had a secluded house. Just what he'd have purchased for himself.
"Ava?" He asked.
"Hmm?"
"Do you want kids?" He asked taking her off guard.
She wasn't expecting that question from him.
"Maybe. Someday. I'm established at the studio already and there wouldn't be too much to baby-proof the house. I make good money so I can help support us and a child." She finally replied.
"I see."
"Do you?" She asked.
"I don't know. I love Jax's kids and will protect them like I would my brothers." Happy told her.
"We can talk more about having children later on down the road if you're more comfortable with that. We don't have to make a decision about it tonight. I mean, that is a very big decision to be making." She told him.
"Yeah. Let's talk about that later on." He told her before turning his attention to the TV.
