Chapter Sixteen

His game?

For some minutes Teresa stared at Jacob, for once not snapping her gaze away from him. She stared at him like he was beginning to lose his senses. The first moment she heard his statement she had thought he was only joking. But the seriousness on his face proved otherwise.

The entire surrounding around them became silent. If a tiny drop of sand had touched the floor at that moment it wouldn't go unnoticed by them. The tension in the air stinks really hard.

Her chocolate brown eyes locked on hard to his emerald green ones. Her eyes searched for any hint he could be joking, but he gave nothing away but pure seriousness.

"Game?" She asked, frowning at him in confusion. "What game are you talking about?"

Jacob stood up from where he knelt from. Straighten his shirt from an invisible rumple. His face was completely unreadable for Teresa to understand whatever he meant by playing a game. "It's a hunting game. Whereby I hunt and you run." He said in a nonchalant tone, like he was just talking about the beauty of the weather.

Teresa's frown only deepens even more by his word. Now it was certain he was beginning to lose it. "I don't think you know it, but if you can see and notice clearly. We aren't in a jungle. And if you think yourself to be an animal, well I'm not." Her voice raised as she spoke.

Jacob only let out a chuckle, before strolling ahead of her, where she had knocked his groin some moment ago. Both his hands were linked behind him, as he ambled towards a bar by the corner of the penthouse living-room. "Would you like a drink?" He asked, already pulling out two glasses before she'd decline.

Pouring some drink in it, he headed towards her offering her a glass, which she slowly accepted. She raised it to her nose to have a smell.of what it could be.

A vodka.

There was no way she was going to drink or consume any alcohol while she was still in the presence of someone like Jacob. She prefers to be clear minded of whatever they were about to discuss. She gently dropped the glass in the small center table opposite her.

"Jacob." She called out to him, as he took a seat on a vacant couch by her right hand side. She watched him cross his left leg on top of the other, while sipping from his glass. "Can you just undo whatever you did to my friend? She did nothing for you to tamper with her like that." Teresa pleaded, already getting a sense of him having a superiority over a situation such as this.

He kept his eyes on her while taking another sip of vodka. "About that sponsorship. It has all been returned back to the movie the moment you stepped your legs into that elevator." He clarified pointing to the elevator that led her to his penthouse.

Stunned by his words, it left her mouth agape. To say his statement didn't take her by surprise she would definitely be lying. Teresa wasn't stupid enough not to know that he doesn't do things for free. They were definitely a catch.

"Why until I'm here?" She scowls at his chill posture, not liking what his answer is going to be.

Jacob gave her a smug look after gulping the entire vodka down his throat, then dropped the glass to the ground. "To play my game."

Having enough with this game discussion. Teresa stood to her feet, pushing her brunette wavy hair off her shoulder to get a good look at him. "I don't give a damn about this so-called game of yours. Since the main reason I came here has been solved. I'm out of here." She strides to the elevator, already irritated by the still smug expression on his face.

"I'm afraid you can't live here." His words brought her to a halt. She swiveled at him where she stood, muddled by his word. "If you step out of here without agreeing to anything I say. You'll have to pay me twenty-five thousand dollars."

Teresa swore her eye bulged out at the amount of money he just mentioned, "t-twenty-five thousand dollars?" She stammered in surprise, before gathering herself together. The last thing she'd want to do is show him any weakness. "I don't owe you any money." She said, raising her chin up to appear composed.

He quirk his left brow, his lips curl up in a smirk. "Are you sure?"

Raising her chin more up she finalized. "Hundred percent sure."

He averted his gaze from her, lowering his eyes down to chuckle. He averted his gaze back at her, shooting her his familiar smug look. "I wouldn't be so sure if I were you."

Teresa could feel herself already shaking on the inside, but stiffen herself to avoid it showing physically. She knew somehow along the line she'd messed up real big. "What do you mean?" She asked him skeptically, already conscious of her surroundings, and of him.

"Well, what can I say? Didn't you sign a paper before walking into the elevator? And must I add a very legal paper. It says in exchange for your friend's sponsorship you're to abide to my rules. "

A legal paper? His rules?

Teresa froze immediately she recollected signing on a paper the security by the elevator had given her to sign. She was being set up? By Jacob himself?

She gritted her teeth, matching where he was seated comfortably. She stopped just a few feet away from him and pointed a finger at him. "You and that security of yours tricked me?" She sneered at him, totally forgetting about the whole composure deal she had tried entailing on herself.

He shrugged his wide strong shoulder at her, while carefully standing on his feet. "I only did what was necessary to prevent you from taking without giving."

He spoke like it was his to take in the first place.

At this point Teresa was very enraged by the words pouring out from his mouth. She has never known anger this much. She felt a strong urge to take something really hard her hands could find to smash on his manipulating head.

She disconnected her eyes from his, quickly searching around her for something really hard. Her eyes caught on the bag on the floor she had tossed at him earlier. She walked towards it to pick it up, but felt Jacob hand held her wrist to stop her.

In reflex she whirl around to give him a slap with her free hand, but he was quick to react. He caught a hold of her hand raised up to smack him on his cheek, taking her by surprise and irritating her that both hands were cuffed by his hands holding them tight enough not to injure her.

He spun her around bringing her back straight to his front, her hands crossed on her stomach while his hands were still enclosed to hers. She immediately stiffened by the close proximity between them. "Let me go you asshole." She swore at him as she began fidgeting in his arms for him to release her, but he was too strong for her.

Being this close to him, Teresa felt every hard, ripped warm body of his. His manly cologne filled her nose, making her head a little hazy and messy. This close to him she could feel his heart beating too fast to call normal, just like hers was beating.

Teresa's breath was heavy enough even for her ear. She could almost hear the sound of her breath echoing around the room if that was possible. There was nothing she wanted more than to ignore the sparking pull between them. She wasn't a fool, she knew what exactly the magnetic pull between them was.

Attraction.

But she certainly wasn't going to act on it. It would only complicate things between them more than there already was.

Jacob's warm breath caressed her ear with how close they both were together. "Just listen to me." He ordered but she was hearing no more from him.

She struggled more hard in his arms for him to let go. "Never! Let me go!" She yelled at him almost shrieking out in bewilderment and rage.

"I won't release you until you listen. Now stop moving. You're only giving me dirty ideas of what to do to you."

She stopped fidgeting when his words sank in. A blush immediately found its way to her face. "You pervert." She sneered in disgust. But she was far from feeling that. She couldn't deny hearing him say those words almost gave away her feet in pleasure. There was no way she was ever telling him that.

Jacob chuckled, his body vibrating as he let out a short laughter. She couldn't see his face, but she knew he had an amused look on his face. "Wow Teresa. I didn't know you had such a dirty mind." He mocked her, his voice suddenly deep and raspy as he spoke.

"Jacob!" She warned him, while still in his arms.

"Yes, Teresa?" His lips grazed her earlobe when he spoke. Teresa couldn't deny that he had done that intentionally.

"Talk or let me go this instant." She instructed him, she was already getting tired of the whole situation.

"Here's how it's going to be. I need you to play hard to get, while I chase you. It's a game of cat and mouse. I try to seduce you for one month and you try resisting me. If you're able to resist me and not fall for me, I'll let you go and you'll never see me anywhere close to you for as long as you live." Isn't that what she has been doing? But somehow hearing him say those words, saddens her a little bit. Just a little, if she was lying to herself.

"And if I do?" She asked, already feeling absurd even asking such a question. She couldn't even believe she was already considering such a thought.

He continued from where he stopped, not before placing a kiss by the back of her ear, making her shudder in ways she didn't know was possible. "If you fall for me, then I've no such other than to make you mine in every single way possible. It's as simple as that." Jacob said the word like he meant every single line. He said it like he wanted it. Like he wants her.

Teresa's heart beat impossibly fast enough to probably kill her. All this while she'd thought maybe he was just being his devilish self, or he just likes messing with her. Maybe that's just what he's still doing. Or maybe he really wants her. She swallowed her saliva as if it were a hard thing to do. "What if I don't want to?"

He released her from his caged hold, spinning her around to face him. A gasp left her lips when she saw how the orb green of his eyes darken in an impossible way.

Teresa couldn't read what she saw in his eyes. Jacob was that hard to read and understand. He still held onto her wrist pulling her to an open balcony that showcased the beauty of New York City at night. She was in awe, but it was short lived when he spoke his next word.

"The only way out of this deal is if you jump down away from right here to down there." He let her go pointing down over the glass railings.

Curious by his word, she headed to where he was and stared down. She instantly shrieked at the high height of the building, she immediately dashed backwards in fright, till her back touched the large transparent glass door of the balcony, as she breathed hard, completely startled. She knew they were at the top of the floor and had expected the height of it would be shockingly high, but somehow the sight frightened her greatly.

Throwing him a glare she swore. "You're an asshole."

He only smirks a twinkle of satisfaction boldly written in his eyes. "I guess that's a yes then."
