Chapter Nineteen

It was Unity Day. I have to admit, even I was happy that it was. Jaha was talking on the screen, which everyone was now watching, but I wasn't interested. I wasn't a big fan of Jaha, and all he was talking about was the fact that they were coming down. They left us to die, therefore I didn't care what he said.

Miller voiced my thoughts. "Right, after we did all the work. Someone shut him up."

I have to admit, that was probably the first time I actually agreed with that idiot.

"You shut up Miller," Raven said, with as much attitude drenching her voice as before. "No one's forcing you to watch."

I walked over to the tent that Jasper was in, only to stop as a weird mist flowed out of the entrance way. He suddenly walked out with a small barrel, a grin on his face. "Woo! Yeah! Monty strikes again!" He ran down the hill, and I laughed at how excited he was. I wasn't a big drinker, so I didn't really want any.

"Call this batch unity juice!" He began to hand it out to everyone, including the guards that had been at the entrances.

"You first," He grinned as he ran up to me. I smiled and grabbed a cup, waiting as he filled the cup about halfway. I took a long drink, almost taking the entire thing back in one swallow.

He laughed loudly, then continued to distribute the moonshine.

The day went by quickly, and everyone was happy. Even Clarke and Bellamy were getting along well. The only person that didn't seem to be enjoying themself was Raven. I did feel bad for her, seeing how her boyfriend was screwing/possibly in love with Clarke... But then again, I also wanted to beat her senseless. Those burns still hurt like hell.

I decided to go into the drop ship and rebandage myself. I didn't need Clarke. I knew enough about health to know that Raven had burned through almost a layer and a half of my skin. Another few milliseconds with those damn wires on my body and I would have bled out.

I stayed in the corner of the second floor of the drop ship, where one of the tables were. I replaced the small amounts of cloth that I had tied to my wounds, which I was now only using to prevent infection.

When I was done, I was about to leave, but heard someone else come up the ladder. They walked over to the opposite side of the drop ship, and I heard the rattling of metal. They were taking the guns.

I spun around to face them, narrowing my eyes a little. "What are you doing?"

Bellamy turned to look at me, his eyes widening as he did a double take from me then to the guns, then back to me. "I'm going hunting."

"You said we couldn't use the guns for hunting," I said, beginning to get even more suspicious. "We can only use the knives and spears."

"Yeah, well, plans change," He said coldly, walking towards the hatch while carrying the guns.

I moved in front of him, and he glared down at me. "Where are you really going?"

He stared down at me, and I saw his eyes dart to the hatch. We both bolted for it, but unfortunately, he got there first. He was down the ladder in seconds, and he slammed the door shut before locking it.

"Bellamy!" I yelled, trying to yank it open. But it wouldn't budge. He either locked it, or he put something down to hold it. "Damn it! Let me out!"

"Octavia is already going," He yelled. "I'm not putting you at risk too!" I heard him talking to someone, likely one of the people that actually listened to him. "Don't let her out, no matter what she says."

I heard him walk away. I kept trying to open the door, but it didn't work. He left me here, locked up in the drop ship. He was up to something. And I had a horrible feeling that he was going to get hurt because of it.

*

I was in the drop ship for hours. The most frustrating part about this situation was that I had nothing to do but think. I had a horrid sinking feeling that thinking too much would eventually be my demise.

I had thought about him so much. Murphy. I missed him more, more than I should. I barely even knew him. But even so, I wanted him to come back.

I had tried so hard to convince Bellamy, but we weren't on the best of terms are this current moment.

I had tried so hard to convince Bellamy, but we weren't on the best of terms at this current moment. In fact, we were now on the worst of terms. I was angry with him and he had finally accepted it, which meant that he didn't think pur friendship was worth saving. I guess we agreed on that much.

I needed something, someone. Bellamy was the only reason I didn't slice my wrists open and let myself bleed open while I was in that damn cell. He was my saviour, and I had hoped so much that Murphy was my saviour too.

I had contemplated going to him, trying to find him in the woods. But doing that would only get me killed. I had seen what the grounds were capable of; Octavia was lucky. Lincoln saved her. However, I knew that the other grounders were not nearly as kind.

Somehow, every time I thought of Murphy or Octavia, my mind always went back to Bellamy.

A guard knocked on the door of my cell, then pushed it open and came inside.

The guards were lenient towards me. They knew that I wasn't necessarily difficult prisoner, unless they touched me. Then they knew to run. I think that they were only lenient because they felt bad for me, since they knew what my father was doing and didn't tell anyone.

The guard was carrying a metal tray of food. He was tall and well built, with short black hair and tanned skin.

He glanced at me once before setting the tray down on the desk and turning around, ready to leave. But he froze when he heard me speak.

"Thank you," I said. He turned his head to look at me as I continued. "What's your name?"

"Bellamy," he said, and a soft smile formed on his face.

"I like it," I grinned. "I'm Venus."

He chuckled. "Like the planet?"

I smiled and nodded. "Yep."

We simply sat there, staring at each other before we then ended up bursting out laughing.

"Forgive me, I don't usually speak this much."

He nodded. "I've heard about you; you don't speak very much. And you definitely don't laugh either."

I smiled softly at him. "What else have you heard?"

The smile slowly faded.

"You've heard that I'm an abomination, the thing that parent's tell their children to keep them from wandering to other stations."

He bit his lip a little.

"Do you think it's true?" I asked, curious to know his answer.

"No."

That one simple word had given me so much hope. That hope was slowly vanishing.

I heard someone climb up the ladder, but I didn't do anything. I stayed still, staring at the wall.

The hatch opened, and Bellamy climbed up the ladder. He stood at the hatch for a few moments, waiting to see if I would look at him. But I didn't.

He walked over, kneeling down beside me and staring at me silently. He stayed like that for a while before he finally spoke. "Ven, look at me."

I didn't turn to face him, and I didn't say a word. I didn't feel the need to.

"Ven, please... I did something bad today. I need you. Please, just... Talk to me."

I still stayed quiet.

"Tell me how I can fix this. Tell me how I can fix us," he begged.

Finally, I turned to look at him, my expression blank. "You can't."

And with that, I stood up, and walked to the hatch. He didn't move an inch, but I could feel his eyes on my back. But at this point, I couldn't care less about what he thought.
