The moment you've been waiting for! Here is the story behind my new kitten.
It's already been a little over a month since I said goodbye to my former cat of 15 and a half years, Sprinkles. It was a very difficult transition for me to live in a pet-less household and I felt extremely lonely. My dad works afternoons, so on the days I didn't have work, I would be by myself for most of the day and it would just be so lonely.
It was so weird not having another presence in the house when my dad would leave. Even if it wasn't a person, having a cat around was comforting. My mental health took a toll and honestly I was not having a great time.
I was on PetFinder to look at pets just for fun. I've been on there a few times but every time I'd show my dad a cat, he'd be like "no it's ugly" or "no I don't want two" so it was A Struggle🙄 Then, on Thursday morning, I just happened to show my dad a kitten and ask if I could put in an application for her. To my surprise, he said yes! So I did it immediately before he could change his mind LMAO.
I received a call back that very night to meet her, which I did today! And she's currently in one of our bathrooms, exploring and living her best life. She is 8 1/2 weeks old and so tiny!! She will be spayed in July and that's when she'll officially be mine in terms of paperwork.

Cut off my face there because I look Rough, but aahh!! She's so sweet and affectionate— she's literally climbing on me as I type this. It only took her about 45 minutes to come out of the carrier on her own, which shocked me. She's very brave. I love her so much already.
Peaches is pawing at my thumbs right now so I will let her say something.

Peaches has spoken.
Her original name was Starfire since she and her littermates were all named after superheroes, which just proves that she was destined for me. However, I decided to change her name because I think Peaches is just really cute. Plus there are orange calico markings on her fur, so the name fits!
