You wake up early enough to have time to prepare and eat a nice, healthy breakfast. You make your way downstairs and see your father, who is already at the kitchen table, eating breakfast, and watching the news.

"Hey Dad," you tell him as you sit down at the table. He huffs before he adjusts his glasses to look at you.

"Heya, N/N. Enjoying your vacation, so far?" You roll his eyes at him, working is not really an enjoyable way to spend a vacation.
"It's fine, it's fine..." you look at the TV for a moment and smile, "still watching the TV, are you Dad?"
He smiles at you, "Yep. May be earlier than usual, but old habits die hard, kiddo..."

You slightly nod in agreement as you bounce up to get some food to eat. You overhear on the TV that the culprits of the drive-by last week had been caught, but that they had been given a slap on the wrist and had to do community service, or something.

"Can you believe that!?" Your dad looks at you in disbelief as you come back with your food and sit back down, "The police let 'em off easy! This is the reason why crime is so rampant around here!"

"Yeah, it's upsetting, but, unfortunately that's normal..." you sigh, eating the leftover (bkfst/f) your dad left.
Your dad turns off the TV, grumbling in frustration, "If I were there, I would've given them the death sentence, I tell you!" You giggle as he shakes his fists in a goofy manner. He talked about joining the police force since you were a kid, but your mom always persuaded him from doing so. As much as it paid, it was a very dangerous job.

The two of you eat in silence until he speaks again, "Say, kiddo, I know that you'll be off to college in a few weeks, but I gotta ask...what do you plan to work as, exactly?"
You softly smile at him, "I've always wanted to be a writer. I want to write my own stories and publish them for people to buy."
Your dad nods thoughtfully, "I see...but why should you go to college for that? Not that I'm complaining, but I'm just wondering why you can't just start now."
"Well, there's more to writing a book than just sitting down and writing pages and pages of words, there's gotta be thought put into it. I think I'm going to major in English or Creative Writing," you smirk at him, "besides, don't wanna put that full scholarship to waste, now do we?"

Your dad laughs, "No, of course not, and you'd be stupid to do so," he pulls you into a tight hug and makes you giggle as you look at the clock.
"Oh, I gotta go, Dad. Love you!" You kiss his cheek and stand up as he lets go. You make your way to the door as he calls after you, "You go tell them customers who's boss, my girl!"

You make it to work and open the door, Nami showed you the key code to get in. Speaking of which, you don't see any of your coworkers as you make your way to the changing room. However, you do see a tall man, a very tall man, a frighteningly tall man.

Maybe it's because you haven't seen many tall people around, aside from Garp, but the gruff man before you, who is smoking indoors, is on a whole other level. He seems to sense your fear, although it's probably written all over your face, and speaks up.

"Oi, you, you must be one of the new kids from last week," his very deep voice throws you off a little, but you manage to answer.
"Y-yeah, I am..." You look up at him and notice the visible, stitched scar the man has across his face.
"Good. The name's Smoker," he crosses his arms, "I'm the manager of this place. You've got a problem, you take it to me."
He motions towards a room, "Come into my office, real quick, I need to talk to you for a moment..." his angry expression made him more intimidating, so you just quietly nod and follow him inside.

As you sit down in a chair in front of his desk, Smoker suddenly lets out a frustrated sigh, "Tashigi reported a few incidents with me, most of them involving someone named Monkey D. Luffy...she says that you know him?"
You look away as to not show your embarrassment from Luffy's behavior, "Um, yeah, we're friends, actually..."
"I see," Smoker takes out the cigarette he was smoking and grounds it off on an ash tray on his desk, "I'm trusting you to keep that kid under control, then...he will be fired if he keeps this up."
"Yes, sir, I'm working on that," you nod, still looking away.

Smoker nods as well, leaning back in his chair, "Now, get out of my office. I've got work to do." You frown a bit as you get up and quickly go the changing room, as originally intended.

Nothing much happened during breakfast, surprisingly. With the new cooks in the kitchen, more orders were made a lot faster, which was a very nice thing, since today was more busy than usual. Smoker also came out to observe things, sometimes, although you noticed that he kept an eye on Luffy more than anyone else. Luffy managed to behave, though, only struggling to carry orders to tables, on occasion.

However, during the transition to lunchtime, you see yet another new face: a tall, tanned man with messy black hair, which was slightly contained by the hat worn as part of the uniform, and covered in tattoos. He quietly takes his place at the cash register as you watched, and although you were never really fond of people with tattoos, you find him quite attractive.

You didn't notice you were staring until Nami walked over and bumped your arm with her elbow. You snap out of your trance long enough to look at her, noticing a smirk on her face.
"Hey, Y/N, you alright? You've been staring at the guy for a while, now..."
You feel your face getting hot, "I-I wasn't staring! What are you talking about?"
"Sure, you weren't," Nami rolls her eyes, "I practically saw you drooling..."
Shocked, you quickly wipe your mouth as Nami laughs hysterically, "I was just kidding! Jeez, Y/N, you need to calm down."

You pout at her, turning red from embarrassment as you notice the man looking over at you two from the corner of your eye. However, Nami takes your attention away by firmly placing her hand on your shoulder.

"That's Law, by the way," Nami turns your whole body to look at him,"he's usually the cashier during lunchtime."
You shyly wave at Law as he looks at you, poker-faced, "N-nice to meet you, Law, I-I'm Y/N..."
Law simply blinks at you before he goes to take cash to the back. With him gone, Nami turns you back to face her, "Listen, I wouldn't try pursuing him. Unfortunately for you, he's already taken."

Well, that was unfortunate for you, but it wasn't too surprising. It would've been more shocking if such beauty of a man was single...
You sigh as Nami looks at you with sympathy, "I know, I know, it sucks, but you've got to move on."
You look at her puzzled, "Hey, I'm fine, don't worry. I wasn't really planning on, dating him, really...I just found him cute, I guess..."

Nami slowly nods as she understands you, "Ohhh, I get what you mean," she grins, "yeah, he's a bit of a cute mystery. Kinda scary, though."

Law returns to the register, and Nami suddenly walks to the back, leaving you alone with Law.

Should I go talk to him? Might as well, he's now a potential friend after all. You slowly walk up to him as he seemingly doesn't notice you approaching.
"Hey, Law.." you begin, "I'm actually new, here. Have you been working here, long?"
Law doesn't say anything for a while, but you still stand there waiting for a response before he finally answers.
"I assumed you were, I've never seen you here before," Law doesn't look at you as he's finishing setting up the machine, "I've been working here for a few years, now"
You nod in response, trying to think of another topic, "Okay...well, what do you think of this job?"
"It's okay," Law turns and walks away from you. You quickly follow him as he makes his way to the back.
"I'm actually just here for the summer. Then I'm gonna go to college. Are you gonna do anything special after the summer is over? Or are you just gonna keep working here?"
Law stops at the door and turns to glare at you, "Listen, just go away, I don't want to talk to you." You stand there a bit stunned as he walks through the door.

Okay, guess he just isn't one for socializing. You sigh to yourself, going back to where you were before.
He could've been a bit nicer, though...

As you deliver orders, you can't help but glance at Law every once in a while as he stood there quietly, collecting payments and working the cash register. At one point, the both of you make eye contact, but Law just narrows his eyes at you and continues with his job.

You frown to yourself as you set down a couple drinks. What problem does he have with you? Sure, you got a bit nosy earlier, but it's like you committed a criminal offense towards him, and it's really bugging at you.

You try and push that aside as you walk to the window to get more stuff. Sanji is there to greet you, delivering plates of food for you to take.
"Here you go, Y/N-chan," he smiles at you politely
"Thanks," you glance back at Law before taking the plates.

Sanji frowns at your attention being directed away from him, "Why do you keep looking at Law? Did something happen?"
"It's nothing. Although, he does seem to have a problem with me..."
He shrugs, "Yeah, he's weird, I don't know why you ladies like him," as if Sanji didn't simp for every young woman in his sight, "besides, he's just mean to everyone, anyways..."
"Really, now?" You ask curiously, leaning against the window.

Although Sanji isn't one who let work slow down, he doesn't think twice about talking with a young lady, "I haven't known him that long, but he's always been grumpy since he first got here."
He frowns at the next part, "Although, he was able to make friends with Nami-san..."

"What? Really?" you're eyes widen a little at that. You didn't really expect for Law to be friendly with anyone, let alone Nami. You sense someone looking at you from behind.
Sanji nods, noticeably mumbling, "Yeah, they would talk all the time, at one point. However, I've seen that, sometimes, she will be too close to him..."

Huh, some workplace romance. Is that what Nami meant by Law being taken? Are they dating?...

You ponder this new information when Law walks up to the both of you, "Hey, Black Leg-ya. Could you stop spreading rumors about me?"
Sanji proceeds to glare at Law, "Hey, I was just telling some information to Y/N, here. Besides, it's obvious you and Nami-san are friends."
Law frowns, "We're not friends..." he looks away, as if he was offended by what Sanji said.

Sanji was about to answer when Luffy comes up to the window next, hyper as always, "Sanjiii! I need you to get me two Raspberry Lemonade Specials, please!"
"Sure, sure, I'll get them for you..." he sighs as he walks away.
"Great! Thanks!" He turns to Law and grins at him, "Hey, there! I'm Luffy!"
Law stares at him awkwardly before looking away, "Hey..."
You smile at the two, "Hey, Luffy, that's Law. He's a cashier guy."
Luffy looks at him a bit surprised, "Ohhh, I see! Well, I'm sure we'll be great friends, like with Zoro!" He laughs as he suddenly wraps his arms around Law.

Law looks uncomfortable and tries to shake him off, "Hey, get off me!" he eventually pushes Luffy away and dusts himself off, "you're so noisy, I swear..."
You watch Luffy laugh nervously before you frown at him, "Hey, don't yell at him like that, he's just being friendly."
Law looks at you, "Well, he's too friendly. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if a complete stranger had their hands all over you."
You think about it for a moment, and...damn, he's right, you wouldn't have liked that.
"Well, at least be nice about it, next time. People don't like you because you're rude."

Law just rolls his eyes, "It's called being honest. If you don't like it, it's not my problem," he motions for you to shoo, "now go, you've been here too long."
You pout at him before taking the plates to their table. If he's going to insist on being a jerk, then fine. Not your problem.

While you're picking up some dirty plates to take to the kitchen, you hear some commotion. You turn to look at the area near the window, and Luffy is still there trying to chat with Law, who has gone back behind the cash register.
As avoidant as Law is, Luffy is just as stubborn, as he continues to ramble on about stuff. It's only after Luffy laughs, quite loudly, that Law seems to snap, suddenly grabbing at Luffy's shirt and yanking him up to eye level, mumbling something to him. You leave the plates and rush over to calm him down, only for Law to drop Luffy and continue his job like nothing happened.

You go to check on Luffy, who looks a bit dazed, "Luffy! You alright?" you whisper to him
"I'm okay," Luffy mumbles back, "jeez, talk about anger issues..." Luffy fixes his lopsided shirt and pouts at Law, who doesn't even notice.

You walk over to him, next, "Law, what the hell was that about?? You can't do that kind of stuff with customers around!"
Law rings up another person before he slowly turns to you, "Hey, blame Luffy. He's the one trying to talk my ear off and can't understand social queues."

Nope, that's it. You're taking this straight to Smoker, now.
