Things have been going smoothly for Luz and Amity. Well they weren't dating but you could tell that there was some tension there. You could also tell that they like each other. Shocker.
Luz had woken up earlier than usual since she got a job. Yes, she is now making money and not having to work with Eda 24/7. The job wasn't the best but she got paid a lot which was worth it. She was working at a dance studio downtown. By working, she was cleaning.
She had a uniform which was black pants and a dark blue shirt, followed by a nice black hat that she obviously wore backwards. "Okay blight I'm going to work", Luz said shouting to the girl. "Finally, please drive safely", amity replied from the bathroom.
Luz got her licenses not too long ago with amity's help. Eda and Lilith bought her a pretty nice car which she was thankful for. When she got to work it was a good amount of cars there. She heard that there was a performance coming up for the dancers in a few days.
Luz walked into the building and went to get the key from the janitors closet. She never actually saw the dancers. Well only sometimes when they would leave but she's never actually been in the studio at the same time as them.
Luz got the supplies out the closet and put her headphones in. She had a rag in her pocket and spray bottle in the other. She started with the bathroom which didn't take that much. Luz got a little into the music, getting distracted from her cleaning.
She started to sing and dance. "Don't you know now, is the perfect time", Luz sang. "We can make it right, hit the city lights". "Then tonightttt, ease the lovin pain" "LET ME TAKE YOU TO THE MAX, WOOOOO!".
Little did Luz know, someone had walked into the bathroom. "I WANT TO LOVE YOU. PRETTY YOUNG THANG. YOU NEED SOME LOVIN. TENDER LOVIN CARE. AND I'LL TAKE YOU THERE!". "Oh will you now?", a female voice said. "SHIT", Luz jumped and took out her headphones. "I didn't know you were there", she said embarrassed. "How long have you been standing there?".
"Long enough to know that you've gotta be a descendant of MJ or something with those moves", the girl laughed. "I'm Avery Jones", she said sticking out her hand. "Luz Noceda", Luz replied, taking the girls hand and shaking it.
"You dance?", Avery asked. "No, well as a kid I did but nah", Luz replied. "Idk there Luz, that looked like some classic Michael moves to me", Avery said. Luz shook her head. "Whatever you say Jones", instinctually calling her by her last name. "Well I gotta go finish my shift". Luz saluted to her and walked to the empty studio to clean the floor and mirrors.
Avery caught up to her. "Wait, don't clean the floor yet". Luz looked at her. "Uhhh it's kinda my job", she said. "Well yeah I know but I wanna see you dance more", Avery replied. Luz was confused. "Why?". "Because you're good", Avery said. "How about you dance?", Luz said crossing her arms. "Fine I will", Avery said going to put on the song Luz was listening to.
Luz put her stuff down on the floor and leaned on the wall, watching the girl dance. The way she moved mesmerized Luz. She motioned for Luz to come join her and despite not wanting to, Luz did anyways. "There you go MJ", Avery laughed.
"I'll show you MJ", Luz said, moonwalking. "Okay now you're showing off". The two were having fun. Luz went and grabbed her cleaning stuff and started to clean the mirrors off while still dancing. She looked over and saw Avery helping her. They cleaned and danced together.
When the song ended, they are done and tired. They walked out the building and to Luz's car, agreeing to go get food. "Do you get into the cars of people you just met often?", Luz asked driving down the road.
Avery shrugged. "Nah just the ones who look like they're gonna take me away and murder me". Luz scoffed. "I do not look like a killer. "Mhmm I disagree", the other girl said."How do I look like one?", Luz asked. "Look at you. The clean killer. Or the janitor killer", Avery said. "Do I kill janitors or is it because I'm a janitor?", Luz asked to clarify. "...both", she got as a reply.
The two laughed and Luz turned the music up. They sang along to Billie Jean when they pulled up to a Chick-fil-A. After ordering they sat outside at a table. Luz ate pretty quickly. "Damn, I didn't know homophobia tasted that good", Avery said laughing at the girl.
Luz almost choked at that comment. "What's your sexuality", she asked. "I'm Bi, with a huge preference for girls", Luz said. "How about you?". "I'm a "straight" up lesbo", she said. "Wow, couldn't tell", Luz said sarcastically. "Yeah says you. You literally dress like a raging bisexual", Avery said.
"Whatever Avery", Luz said throwing a fry at the girl. "Got a nickname?", Luz asked. "Well my friends and family call me AJ", she said. "And that's what I'm gonna call you too, assuming we're friends now", Luz said. "Even though we just met".
AJ got an idea. "So we have a performance tonight-". "I thought it was in a couple days?", Luz asked confused. "No, it's tonight. Anyway, I was wondering if you would dance with me.", Avery asked. "Dude I literally know nothing and I'm not a pro like you", Luz said chewing on her straw. "It's literally one performance. The rest will be done by me and the other people in my class", AJ assured Luz. Luz thought for a moment. "You literally just met me".
Aj rolled her eyes. "Well yeah but you're what I need". Luz got up to throw their stuff away. "Okay. Say that I do help you. What's in it for me?", Luz said. "Whatever you want I guess", AJ replied. Luz agreed and they made a deal. They cleaned up after themselves and went to go rehearse back at the studio, which Luz would probably have to clean again.
~Time skip~
Amity was sitting in Boscha's dorm room with Willow. "Boscha hurry up", she called out for her friend. "We're gonna be late to Skara's performance. After a couple minutes, Boscha finally came out of the bathroom and was ready to go. They left the room and went towards Boscha's car. "Is Luz coming?", Willow asked.
Amity hadn't talked to the girl since earlier so she didn't really know what was going on with her. "Well I'm not sure. I would assume so", amity replied shrugging her shoulders. The drive there wasn't that long. The three got their tickets and found their seat. "How long is this thing anyway", Boscha said.
Amity rolled her eyes. "We just got here". "Yeah and I wanna know how long I'm gonna be here", Boscha replied. The lights went dim and the dance instructor came out to speak. "Thank you all for coming out to tonight's performance. Please turn cell phones off as there will be no flash photography or filming. We will however have a video recording of the performance for purchase. These dancers have worked really hard. Thank you and enjoy the show", she finished.
The Audience applauded, waiting for the first performer to come out. A couple people went and amity was pretty impressed. Skara was up and there was still no sign of Luz. "I'm gonna go out and call her ", amity said to her friends. She got up and went to the lobby to try and call Luz. She rang her a couple times and she didn't answer. "Where is she?".
~Meanwhile in the dressing room~
"I can't do this", Luz said sitting in a chair. "Yes you can now suck it up and shut your trap", AJ replied. They were up next and Luz was having second thoughts. "Luz just imagine that thing that makes you feel free, that makes you wanna keep going and you don't care who see's", AJ said.
Luz closed her eyes and a special someone came to mind. She smiled and opened her eyes. "Okay I'm ready", she said. "What did you think about?", AJ asked curious. Luz sighed. "This girl. Her name is Amity. She's like the best thing that's happened to me". "Aww Luz has a crush", AJ said making kissy noises. "Oh shut up", Luz said laughing. They heard clapping and knew it was their time to go. They took a couple deep breathes and proceeded to head to the stage. "Next up we have a dancer who has been with us for a while and has showed incredible improvement, along with a new special guest", the dance instructor said. "Give it up for AJ!". Everyone applauded as the music started and AJ walked out. She was wearing a mariachi style outfit with sequins.

She looked at Luz offstage. Luz was wearing her black button up and black pants.
"Your moves inspire me, to be the best I can be, not alone but in harmony, fearlessly"

That was Luz's cue to go on stage. Everyone was shocked to see her. Especially amity. "Is that Luz?", Willow asked. Amity had no words. "I think so", Boscha said shocked.

Luz and AJ did what amity assumed was salsa dancing. Luz must've taught her. Amity saw the way the two were looking, and she did not like it.
"The truth in every turn. 1-2 step, I have learned so much from you, and the way you groove. We got nothing to lose"
Luz circled around AJ with her hands behind her back and smiled. Then she put her hand out and grabbed AJ's hand, spinning her in.

Amity sat with her arms crossed. She hated how the girl looked at Luz. Her Luz. Well she knew Luz wasn't her's but still. Just as she was about get up and leave everyone started hollering so she turned to see why. She wish she hadn't turned.
"Turn the music up, the rhythm move your body. No more to discuss, go and grab someone"
Luz was behind AJ and had her hands on her waist as AJ swayed. Then they walked in a circle while getting closer to each other.
"Stranger or a friend, it don't matter in the end. Let this feeling take over your life"
The two got close, it looked like they were going to kiss. Amity dug her nails into her palms. Willow and Boscha looked over to her and had worry in their eyes. "Amity are you-", Willow tried to ask. "I'm fine", the blight replied quickly

At the end, Luz dipped AJ. The crowd went crazy. After the two stood up, they grabbed hands and bowed. The dance instructor shared a few words and dismissed everyone. The three girls went to the lobby to wait for Luz. They saw her walking up with that same girl.
"Dude that was way better than I thought", Luz said. "I told you MJ, always trust me", AJ said. Amity cleared her throat. "Oh hey guys, this is Avery, Avery this is Willow, Boscha and Amity. Avery waved at the girls. "Hey it's nice to meet you, Luz has said a lot about you guys".
"Did she tell you how awesome I am?", Boscha asked flexing. "Oh most definitely", AJ said causing Willow and Luz to laugh. "You guys did great though", Willow said. Boscha nodded her head. Amity however had other things filling her mind. She stared at the girl, looking her up and down. "So, Avery, how did you meet Luz?", amity asked. AJ and Luz looked at each and laughed at the memory. "Michael here was dancing instead of cleaning and then boom friendship", Avery explained in a brief way.
Luz shook her head. "I still don't appreciate that surprise pop in". "Well it was nice to meet you but we have to go, right Luz?", Amity said. Luz thought about it. "Uhh I don't remember-". Amity smiled at AJ and then pulled Luz along with her. Boscha and Willow just looked at Avery and shrugged. "Amity what are you doing?", Luz said.
Amity took a deep breath. "Nothing I just wanted to talk to you, that's all", she lied. "Oh well why didn't you say so? We can go chill and watch a movie. Ooo or watch more of that atypical show", Luz smiled. "Yeah let's do that", amity said smiling. "Okay! Let me go grab my things", Luz replied running back into the building.
Once she was out of sight, Amity's smile dropped. She hated the feeling. Jealousy. It bothered her that she cared so much. Her and Luz were just friends. But they weren't. Luz, Luz kissed her. She took her out. She put in effort to make her happy. She protected her. How could they just be friends?
Luz came back with her stuff in her hand. "Okay Blight, I'm ready to go".
"Luz", amity started, looking down.
"Yeah amity?, Luz replied curious of what was going on.
"What are we?"
Okay so sorry for the slow update. But the inspo for the dance is Sofia Wylie's amazing performance in hsmtmts. But yeah. :)
