☾︎ Maeve ☽︎

I leave the shower, drying my long brown hair with the towel in my hands trying to hurry up when the guys and Leah arrived 10 minutes ago.

My gaze falls to the bed where I today again woke up with no one besides me.

I seriously don't understand why Silas is obsessed with his paperwork all of a sudden.

The last time I checked he once lit his paperwork on fire because he didn't want to do it.

Yeah, crazy right?

I analyze my figure in the reflection of the mirror as I slip my long black coat over my arms as it finishes off the look I chose.

I grab my high boots, dragging my feet inside of them as I adjust them so that they would feel more comforting for me.

I fix my wavy hair, some of the strands falling in front of my vision as I drag them away from my face like I always do.

I put on some clear lipgloss before grabbing my purse and walking out of the bedroom.

I stroll down the stairs, rushing into the kitchen as I see breakfast lying on a plate for me on the kitchen counter.

At least Silas made breakfast for me.

I sit down on a chair, sighing as I start eating my breakfast in the kitchen. Alone, like I did the past few days.

I wake up, alone just like I did the past few days.

Silas tells me he had to do stuff at the Ludovico building but that's now the same excuse he told me for the last 4 days.

I didn't do something wrong, right?

I finish half of my breakfast, saving the rest if I get hungry again. I make my way out of the kitchen towards the front door.

The guys and Leah are most likely playing basketball at the back of the house like they always used to do.

I step outside, heading to the back of the house as I indeed see some of them playing basketball, the others talking to each other.

"Hey," I smile, crossing my arms over my chest as their mouth lift up in smirks, what's their problem?

"Hello," Xavier smiles, rotating the basketball in his hands.

"Where is Silas?" Leo asks and I overhear a chuckle leaving his mouth.

My face turns into a frown, my eyebrows creating a crease as I shrug, "Probably at the Ludovico building, he spends quite of his moments there."

Leah gives me a comforting smile in the distance and looks away again.

"Haven't you guys talked to him?" I raise a question, tilting my head to the side.

Their heads snap toward me as they shake their head repeatedly, "We haven't, he has been busy with paperwork and stuff." Max smiles.

Something is certainly strange here.

"He is?" I mumble, slowly nodding my head as I let out a heavy sigh.

I shrug the feeling off of me, rotating my head in Max's way, "Did you find out about Ethan's location?" I question.

Max's mouth falls open like he had just remembered that he still had my phone with him. He nods, pulling my phone out.

"I forgot to tell you, this is what I found out." He hands me a small piece of paper, words written on it with black ink.

He hands me back my phone too as I examine the words on the paper.

It's the name of a street and the address of a house not too far from here, no one probably lives there so it would be a good hiding place for that fucker.

"Then what are we doing here? We should go," I frown, catching the attention of the rest.

Elias' eyes expand as they shake their heads, "No, we can't go without Silas." Mason tells and I roll my eyes.

I hum, raising my eyebrows at his words, "Silas is busy if I remember it clearly?"

"You know he would surely kill every single one of us." Nico states and I groan, he's right.

We can't go without Silas but we also can't waste so much time.

"Okay." I sigh, not wanting to talk about this much longer.

I veer around wanting to head back towards the front of the house, I think I'm going to pay a visit to my art studio today.

"Where are you going?" Rowan and Nico speak up at the same time, probably thinking that I'm going after Ethan alone.

Don't worry, I'm not making that mistake again.

"Art studio," I call out, not sparing a glance at all of them as I instantly make my way to the car, approaching the vehicle.

I unlock the car entering it as I adjust myself in the driver's seat, trying to be comfortable.

I buckle myself, getting out my phone as I look if Silas sent me a message telling me when he will be coming back.

I instantly regret doing that when I don't see any messages from him.

It's almost like he forgot I existed once he had his paperwork in front of him.

Perhaps he's tired of spending whole days with me, I mean I am kinda annoying sometimes...

I drop my phone on the seat beside me, starting the engine as I look into the rearview mirror.

I deliberately start to drive out of the driveway, stepping on the gas carefully as I drive towards the gate.

The gate opens when I approach it, letting me get through.

I rush past the streets, my eyes fixed on the road as my hands clasp around the steering wheel tightly.

After a couple of minutes of driving, I notice the figure of two large buildings, one of them being my personal mall and the other my art studio.

After all the drama that happened, I kinda forgot about painting, I didn't have that much motivation anymore.

And honestly, I still don't have the motivation to begin painting the whole canvas but I needed to be in a quiet place for a while.

I drive into the parking lot, turning off the engine as I pick up my phone from beside me.

I slide my phone into the pockets of my coat before opening the car door.

I stride out of the vehicle, getting my keys out as I lock the door before I walk to the entrance of the studio.

The wind rushes on my legs which are covered by thin fabric, making goosebumps appear on my skin.

My hair blows back as I enter the studio, looking around the building.

I think this is my first time coming here, I didn't have much time to go here but now that I see how it looks from the inside I regret not coming here sooner.

My eyes trace over the huge hall in front of me with multiple doors on either side of the white wall.

The walls are covered with pictures of all sorts of art, and the room is peaceful but also chaotic at the same time.

My face eases into a frown as I try to decide which door I'll be walking through.

I simply just choose the first door that's placed close to me, my hand touching the door handle as I open the door unhurriedly.

My gaze lifts up and my eyes instantly expand when I see canvas lying on a table, and art equipment on the other side of the table.

The walls are all white in this room and it's probably so that I can hang my creations on the wall.

I enter the room further, closing the door behind me as I walk toward the tables.

I trace my fingers over one of the canvas, a little sad that I forgot about painting so soon while I would paint 24/7.

I pick up the canvas before placing it down on one of the easels in the room, my other hand already grabbing the paintbrushes and the paint.

I start preparing the equipment, ignoring the way my eyes trail over my phone now and then to see if Silas had texted me.

I'm seriously getting worried about him now. What if he has problems with other clans?

I force myself to stop thinking about it as I start painting, distress proceeding to grow inside of me.

~ ~ ~

I position the painted canvas against the wall, hanging it against the not-so-empty wall anymore.

My lips curl into a satisfying smile seeing the canvas hanging on the wall.

I didn't have much motivation to paint anything in particular so I just painted a landscape in rare colours.

I sigh leaning my lower back against the table as I pick up the phone that's sitting on the table behind me.

I turn on my phone, my eyes snapping up towards the screen when a message pops up.

-FROM LEAH
Maeve, you should come back.

I frown at the message, turmoil fogging my mind as I observe the message over and over trying to understand why I should come back.

Cayden texted me this too when our parents came from that mission. When I found out that my so-called father was supposed to be dead.

Did something happen? To Them, or Silas?

I gather all my stuff, rushing out of the room without hesitation. My legs lead me out of the building as I approach my car again.

I yank my keys out of my purse, hurriedly unlocking my car as I basically jump inside.

I don't even buckle myself and turn on the engine, driving out of the parking lot as I step on the gas.

I drive away, speeding towards home again.

Maybe I'm just overreacting. But it seemed quite urgent...

What if someone got hurt?

I groan getting annoyed by my thoughts as I keep my eyes glued on the road, speeding past the other cars.

I'm shocked when I arrive at the front gate not even 5 minutes later. I didn't go that fast, right?

The newly replaced guards open the gate for me and I instantly drive in, parking my car in the driveway as I exit the car.

I close the car door with a loud thud, speed walking to the back of the house.

My mouth slightly falls open at the sight of an empty basketball field.

The others are nowhere to be seen as I spot the basketball from earlier placed on the ground.

Rowan always takes that basketball with him. He never forgets to take it back with him.

Basketball is practically all he ever does besides staying in his office, also doing his paperwork.

I'm lucky that my brothers- Mostly Aaron help me with the documents, he does most of the work because he thinks that I'm stressing too much.

My eyes are fixed on my phone when it buzzes, seeing a message appear from Silas.

-FROM SILAS
Do you remember the place where I asked you to be my girlfriend? I'll meet you there, mi amore.

My eyes glide over the letters and my frown only worsens, what is wrong with everyone today?

Am I having a fever dream?

I sigh just accepting it as I walk past the basketball field, approaching the place that's surrounded by trees.

I twirl my moon necklace between my fingers unexpectedly feeling very anxious without a reason.

I wander further into the forest-like place, wandering past the big trees that surround most of my vision.

I halt in my tracks when I arrive at the same place that Silas was talking about. I look at my phone but see that he didn't send me another text.

My eyes are slightly bigger when a figure approaches me, their face covered by the shadow of the trees.

A deep sigh flees from my mouth when Silas steps out of the shadows and I thank God that it wasn't someone else.

"I'm going to murder you," I breathe, placing my hand on top of my racing chest.

I look over my shoulder for a split second when I hear a noise behind me, but no one standing there.

I turn my head back to look at Silas as I glare at him, "I thought you were hurt, where are the others?"

I only get a smirk in return, bringing me even more irritated than I already am.

"Amore," He mumbles, stepping closer as he pushes a strand of my hair behind my ear.

I lift my head to look up at him, "I thought you were busy with paperwork?" I mumble, not wanting to give in too easily.

"Mhm," He smirks, "I'm quite a good liar, aren't I?"

My head leans to the side as I try to comprehend his words. What does he mean, he lied to me?

"You're causing me a headache, what are you talking about?" I question him while he grazes my bottom lip with his thumb.

I try to suppress my smile when his dimples show up, he knows what he does to me.

"You remember what I said that day I asked you to be my girlfriend? About that, I wanted to experience everything with you?" He talks and I nod, recalling that moment.

"Happiness, life, love, I want to experience such things - with you,"

His hands brush over my arms, "I meant every single word of it." He mumbles.

"Before I met you I was reckless, I didn't care about life. But you, for fuck sakes-," He whispers, grabbing my face gently as he brings me closer.

"You made my life worth living. If I got the opportunity to get anything I ever desired, my mind would go straight to you."

He breathes heavily, "You were the first person to show me what love was, how it felt like and fuck... I don't regret a single thing."

"I don't regret talking with you that night on your birthday," He whispers and memories start evading my mind.

"I don't need friends." I look down at my lap feeling kind of hurt, "Why aren't you at your party?" He asks a tiny bit nicer than before.

"I don't really have that many friends so... I don't know anyone here." He looks at me and frowns.

"It's your birthday. Don't be sad." I secretly smile to myself and look back towards him again.

"And I don't regret stumbling into you in your old house." He adds and I laugh at the memory.

"Maeve Nystrom hm?" His brows were turned into a slight frown.

The way he said my name - it send a shiver down my spine. His eyes are actually really beautiful.

"You own my heart and I never want you to give it back." He lets out a shaky breath like he's deciding what to do.

I bring myself out of my thoughts, confused at why he's telling me this.

"You're wondering why I'm telling you this, aren't you?" A trail of laughs escapes his mouth and my lips form a thin line as I chuckle.

"I love you and-," He sucks in a quick breath but my eyes expand when I see him lower himself on one knee, pulling out a black box.

I think I'm going to pass out... This isn't really happening, right?

"I want to be yours forever," He breathes, opening up the box as I put my hand on my thumping hard.

My throat feels like it's narrowing as tears urge to drop from my eyes, my hand trembling in shock.

He opens the box entirely, allowing me to see a diamond ring in it. A red one.

He asked if red was my favourite colour... It was because of this?

As soon as the next words are leaving his mouth I'm already gasping for air, tears streaming down my cheeks.

"Marry me, mia vita." He grins, staring up at me.
