I woke up alone as the plane began it's descent. She wasn't next to me, and I felt unsettled about it.
I got up from the bed making my way to the other cabin and found her. I felt the smile immediately form on my face, she'd fallen right to sleep while watching a movie.
Her computer screen was black as her eyes were closed, curled into the couch. Her hair was a mess as her face was smooshed against the seat. She was beautiful as she slept
But why did she leave the bed?
Moving myself over to her she opened her eyes to look at me surprised, as if I was some intruder
"Good rest?" I raised my eyebrows in confusion
"Good enough, I couldn't sleep but guess my mind was playing tricks on me" she shrugged at me and I could tell something was off
"We are landing" I said sitting next to her and she nodded her head, she was acting strange.
But she didn't know the surprise I had planned for her. I pulled the blindfold out from my pocket "put this over your eyes"
"Excuse me?"
"I said put this over your eyes"
"Why the fuck would I do that" she looked at me irritated, I hated this attitude she was giving but I had to keep myself in check

He held the red blind fold in his hand as I stared at him more lost than ever "a surprise?"
I hated surprises, but I had been getting a lot of them recently
"For our honeymoon, please let me do something nice for you. Let me surprise you"
What could he possibly have in store for me? I've done everything there is to do in Italy
"Why should I trust you?" I whispered
"Because I'm your husband"
"By arrangement, if you could be with someone else you would and we both know that. So why bother preten-" he placed his finger on my lips
"I don't have a great way of expressing my emotions or how I feel Tesoro, so please I beg of you. Let me show you" I sat there in a freaking debate but I could tell I was ticking him off
"Fine, but if your about to murder me I don't suggest disposing my body in the canal please?" He rolled his and handed me a sundress
It was actually quite beautiful, I was surprised
"Surprised I can actually pick out something in good taste?" I sucked in my lips and nodded slowly which seemed to annoy him further
"Go change and come back out before we land and then I'll place this on you" he handed me the dress as I accepted it "it's the fall won't I be cold"
"That's why I brought you a shall amor" he smiled his Italian accent seeping out sending shivers down my body
I went to the bathroom and changed into the sundress and smiled, it accented my body perfectly. I smiled and wiped it off my face as I went back to the main cabin to see him staring at me
"You look beautiful" he whispered
"Save the sweet talk for later, you're taking me on a hostage trip... remember, don't put the body in the canal?" He nodded and pulled me onto his lap as I screeched
"Let me go!" I begged
"safety first Miss Bartlett we are landing!" He strapped us into a seatbelt and tied the blindfold around my eyes, I couldn't see a thing
"How many fingers am I holding up?" He waved his hand in my face which I could not see
"Mmmmm 36?"
"Exactly" as he held me tight in his arms, squeezing me close. I could feel himself harden against me and he put his head at the crook of my shoulder

"You know I've been to Italy countless times, you probably won't surprise me" I felt my body being placed on a golf cart as he did not reply but still held my hand
"So is this the part where the talking cuts out so when you murder me it'll be less damaging?" He still didn't reply but I could hear him laugh softly
12 minutes have passed and not a word, but it was chilly as this golf cart drove "I'm cold"
How far could this fucker possibly go? Where the hell was I?
"Okay, where the hell are we"
"Almost there" he whispered into my ear shutting me up and I felt his hand on my thigh
But then the cart stopped and I was lifted off it and placed on what felt to be grass "telling you I am unsurprisable, you won't surprise me, I've been to Italy multiple times before"
"Good thing we are not in Italy" he whispered and removed my blind fold "unsurprisable isn't a word dear, you won't surprise me is more accurate"
I couldn't believe it, how the fuck did he know.
I felt my eyes well up in tears at the gesture, 20 fucking questions he remembered.
It was so beautiful, surrounded by thousands of tulips mostly pink, witnessing the windmill in the back and looked to my left to see a table for two set up "I can't believe you remembered" I looked to him and he shrugged
"Bet you've never been to this part of Italy?" He smirked "we are north of Amsterdam"
"It's beautiful" I took him in for a hug as he kissed my forehead and I began to cry in his arms
I cried like a little baby, I couldn't quite help it.
"Charlotte" he whispered as I did not reply "Charlotte" he cupped my face in his hands pulling it up to him
"Thank you, I sounded like such a brat about Italy but.... I don't deserve this" he stared at me and his eyes changed, I didn't recognize the stare he gave me
"You do deserve this, you deserve so much more than this Charlotte. I'm sorry I am unable to give it to you at this time, but I will spend as long as it takes to" he wiped the fallen tears and I leaned forward and kissed him
Wrapping my arms around his neck as he held me closely by the waist as I held him closely breaking the kiss "thank you, thank you"
"This is so sweet and thoughtful" I looked around the pink tulips "nobody's ever-"
"Nobody's ever done such a thoughtful thing for me, I know I sound quite spoiled but" I smiled once more "it's so beautiful"
After the rush of shock died down, we sat at the table and ate dinner as the sun set around us. Not a soul nearby, just the two of us
"You know I always wanted to come here, of course I never chose the vacations" I admired the windmill in the background "Amsterdam and Holland were such a dream to visit"
"We'd go other places but, me and Belle were shoved into a hotel besides the Hamptons" I shrugged "but Italy was when Aunt Lizzy and Emma would come and they'd take us everywhere sometimes" I smiled
"So do you not like Italy?" He questioned
"God I love Italy, it's just hard to go without Emma you know" he tilted his head
"You should tell me these things" he reached for my hand holding it "I do care for you, you know"
"I just don't ever want to burden people, I was such a burden to my parents growing up. Feel like one to you-"
"Don't say that" he reassured "I'm better off with you than alone, just a grumpy old man"
"I was destined to be a cat lady" he laughed softly, it was a genuine one
I rarely heard him laugh but when he did it was like medicine in the best way "my parents never really took us on trips either, we would always do our own things" he shrugged and sipped his wine
"As I got older I drifted more, I started up my own life when the time came. I spoke with Celine and my siblings on occasion, I'd always show up.... but my father was pissed at me for years"
"In Spain" he started but then paused
"In Spain?" I questioned
"I was arrested and he bailed me out, I don't know how he possibly did but he did it. I owe him a lot, we didn't talk for so long but he showed that. No matter how bad things may be with family, you always show" I nodded
"So what did you do?" I said curious
"Nothing to worry about love" maybe I should be more concerned but
He called me love and I smiled while sipping my water looking around once more "what's your favorite destination you've ever been to?"
"Besides here" he started "probably Egypt or Ibiza" I smirked
"In Spain?" I gasped

"This, this is it right here" I looked around taking a deep breath "it's been a dream since I was a kid, I love flowers, especially tulips and my late grandmother told me all about it when I was just 7, she promised to take me" I paused
"Unfortunately she passed before she could but... I know she'd be so happy I made it here" I looked back to him
His eyes were admiring mine, the blue green dancing around as they stared into my plain brown "did your grandmother love flowers like you do?"
"Not like me, I always found beauty in them with a deeper meaning. She loved them because of the way she saw I do" I could feel the tears well up about my late grandmother, but it's been 15 years
As the sky grew dark I looked to see a blanket and pillows laid out perfectly in the distance as a lantern held the light around it. I looked to him as a smile showed through and he took my hand in his

"You did" he began walking towards the ivory blankets and pillows setting me down on them

"Are we here illegally?" Nate shrugged as I looked at him wide eyed "are we trespassing!" He didn't answer me, just watched me start to panic as I sat up looking around the vacant field of tulips
"You made me commit a felony with you?" My voice was in hushed tones though we were alone, causing him to laugh
"Isn't that what married couples do?"
"Not the last time I checked!" He wrapped his strong arms around me pulling me down as he towered over my frail body. I ruffled his brown locks with my hands and he sent his hand up my dress placing it right on my upper thigh next to my core "Are you insane, we can't do that here"

"It was just an offer, but I know you hate your job and unfortunately had to set aside your dreams for family"
"I don't want to take about it" my voice coming out like some little child
"You deserve so much more than what you were given" he didn't dare my eye contact with me but I felt my heart race "you deserved that job at the New Yorker"
"Can't turn back time" there was no medicine that could fix my feelings

I woke to find myself in an unfamiliar room, alone in my own bed. I looked around for him but I was alone.
I was in yesterday's clothes, his sweatshirt filled with his scent confirming that yesterday was no dream. I slipped out of bed and immediately rushed myself to the bathroom

"I woke up and then came and heard you on the phone, you weren't the most quiet"
"So you were listening in on my private conversation?" His voice was snappy
"I literally didn't hear anything, just like you have to go back Monday" He began walking towards me and pushed my hands against the wall
"Never eavesdrop on my conversations" his voice was husk and scary. He dropped my arms scoffing as he exited the room "pathetic" I heard him whisper
