Rank 1.1 : Beginning

By Clairounette645295

Butterflies. The upper class. The elite.

All those words described the Butterflies. They had access to pretty much everything and got high position only. They represented about 10 % of the population. It wasn't a lot, but their presence was overbearing.

So overbearing that rules had been created by the government to keep everyone in check.

Every job of importance was theirs.

Every luxuries was theirs.

I looked outside my office and sighed. My name is Melody Prim. A Butterfly in her early twenties. I owned a jewelry company that I built from scratch. I could have accepted the Head Manager Job that my father had advised me to take, but it had no sense for me.

If I couldn't built something for me, from me and have people that recognize my hard work, it had no sense.

"Head, can you sign this? It is the agreement with Mr. Ming about the sapphire mine from last week." My secretary was a circle

Circles were the average people of the society. Only a few of them had job of importance and the job as my secretary should have been a butterfly.

Nonetheless, I had chosen Hana for a good reason. She was a flawless secretary and understood things before I even had to ask her anything. She accepted working for me when I started the company at only 18 years old. She was damn perfect for the job and helped me getting the company to function properly.

"Leave it here, I need to read the contract again please." I said

"I already said that you shouldn't say please Head." She scolded but the kind smile on her face made me smile back at her

"Being polite has nothing to do with Rank Hana and I already told you numerous time to call me Melody." I reminded her

She shook her head simply and walked out. Sometimes I wished that rank didn't exist. Of course, it made my life easier to be a rank. However, it didn't mean that I didn't care about the lesser ranks like Circles or No-Marks.

A Shiver ran through my spine as I thought about No-Marks. They represented about 20 percent of the population at first, but then they were almost entirely exterminated. No-Marks were practically slaves. They were 'recruited' during auctions and signed contracts with Butterflies.

Most of the time, they were contract where the No-mark didn't even gain any money and was barely fed.

"Dark thoughts?" a familiar voice called out

"Jay." I smiled looking at the Creative Director. A butterfly and my childhood friend.

"You looked lost in thoughts?" he wondered as he stepped inside "Are you worried about the autumn collection coming out next week?" he asked curious

"I'm not. You know that a lot of our products were already checked out and bought by the elites." I whispered leaning my head back "I was thinking about No-Marks." I said honestly

Typically of a butterfly, Jay sneered at me. Butterflies shouldn't concern themselves with inferior beings that was the sentence my father kept repeating to me. Jay didn't say anything knowing full well what I thought about this kind of thoughts and just shrugged.

"You can't change the world Lady Melody." He said with a sigh

"Again with the Lady Melody." I pouted

"You are of the noblest Butterflies. Of course I need to call you Lady." He sighed "That's what is normal and that you refuse to comprehend."

I wouldn't enter this argument again. I found the rules stupid and despite being of what Jay called the 'Noblest Butterflies' I didn't feel like one. Unlike my parents and my brother, I didn't take advantage of my situation.

My little brother who was 18 and already CEO of a tech company.

He had pride in the Prim name and in our status. I didn't have pride in my name, but into my company and the hard work I furnished to keep it going. A cough fit took me again and Jay rushed to my side.

Hana was quick to come by and handed me a white handkerchief. As I wiped my mouth, droplets of bloods colored the piece of cloth.

"Again?" Jay worried

"You should take a rest Head." Hana worriedly added "You've been working on the next summer and spring collection while we haven't even launched the autumn collection." She added

"Hana is right. I will have to inform the Council if it continues." He sighed

"It's just some droplets." I argued

They gave me a long look and I sighed. Something that was uncharacteristic of a Butterfly and that was my flaw, was my extremely weak constitution. It seemed idiotic, but I easily got sick and fevers. Even the most talented doctor couldn't find a remedy or something to get me to be healthy. While, my health didn't deteriorate if I didn't push myself, I couldn't work like I wanted.

"You have a party to go to tonight. Go home and rest for today." Jay pushed me out of my chair "We got the rest. Don't make your employees worry too much."

I sighed and nodded, packing up my laptop and walking out already dreading the party which I had to attend in the evening.

"Really?" I wondered looking at myself in the mirror

The dress in the mirror looked like a child dress. My little brother was trying hard not to snicker at the pink dress with lots of frills and decoration. I usually didn't attend parties as I didn't want anything to have to do with the liars and fake smilers of the upper society, but I had promised my father that I would accompany him and my brother to the inauguration of the Kang's family new building. Jay would hopefully be there too and I wouldn't have to die of boredom.

"Mom outdid herself." My little brother Blake so kindly remarked

"I'll make you wear a pink tie if you keep talking Blake, just heads up." I warned him

He raised his hand in surrender.

"Just do your usual." He advised

I grabbed scissors and took the dress off as he smirked. I began cutting off all the frills from the top of the dress and then it looked kind of decent. Still a teenager dress, but that was what my parents wanted me to look like. The eldest daughter of the Prim family who had started her company on a whim, was just a child. Unlike her genius like brother.

"He just wants to marry me off." I groaned as I looked at the small file my father had left me with tons of marriage candidate

"I looked at the stats of your company. It works great, would be a shame for you to marry now." Blake said and his honest smile made me smile back at him as I threw the file across the room

I lived in a penthouse on the top of one of the nicest building in the city. Blake came all the time and we practically lived together. I had learned from our nanny how to cook and homemade meals were sometimes a hundred times better than some five star Michelin dinner with sponsors.

"How's it going with your new surveillance company?" I asked

Blake's smile faltered as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"The Min have taken over again." He gritted

The Min Family. I had never met the genius son of the Min family, but there were only praises and mysteries on him. However, one thing was sure. Min Yoongi was a smart lad. Incredibly smart. Even as a Butterfly, he was something else. He started his first marketing company with the Kim family and since then it was the most influential company on the market.

"Kim Namjoon is a damn headache." Blake added "Let's not even talk about the Parks." He sighed

Park. A family of Butterflies with a rank similar to ours. They owned every material, every school, every hospital and just everything. Managing and hearing the good advices of the Kim's was enough to make them unreachable.

Blake had made numerous contract with them, but he didn't like being overruled. On the other hand, I was mostly independent. My company wasn't of enough importance for business men like them. I hoped it would remain this way.

"Are you ready?" my father called out

"We're coming." I screamed back

My father was dressed in a tuxedo and it suited him. My brother escorted me to the car as it drove through the streets. My father handed me the pink diamond. A necklace I had made myself and that he bought unknowingly from my company again.

He didn't put his nose in my business. He checked my income each month nonetheless, but at least I was at peace.

"Behave yourself tonight. Smile." He reminded us

Blake and I exchanged a knowing look. This evening would be boring as hell. The Kang family was famous for doing everything in excess and I could already see the huge venue that was made for the opening of their new hotel line. It was funny, because the hotel line was controlled by the Kim family behind the scene and they still presented it as if it was theirs.

"Kim Seokjin worked hard." Blake remarked

Seokjin wasn't from the same Kim family that Namjoon. I knew neither in my case, but Blake dealt with Seokjin a few times already. I hadn't gone to a party like this in years and wasn't excited to have been finally convinced to go.

"Let's go." My brother gave me his hand

As soon as we stepped out of the car, heavy security surrounded us. Most of the bodyguards were No-Marks. No Marks were known for having a superior body strength and superior senses in general. But, for some weird reason, they were unable to harm a butterfly and listened to their every words once a contract signed. I had no idea if that was in their genetics or not. None of my employees were Non-Marks. At least not in appearance.

"Smile Sis." Blake urged as we entered the all too grand hall

"It's too much." I grimaced looking at the golden flakes and petals on the floor

"Who said the Kang's were humble?" my father hummed "Oh Dimitri!" he greeted all to fake

"Prim, thank you for coming." Dimitri Kang answered with a similar fake smile "I see that you brought your children." He wondered "Where's your wife?" he asked

"She caught a cold unfortunately." My father sighed "But you didn't go half way uh?"

"Yes, you see..."

As they began their long exchange I rolled my eyes and dragged Blake towards the buffet. I could already see some harpies eyeing my brother like he was a damn prize. My father remained with the host of the party and that showed everyone that the Prime family was still important.

While our place in the business department wasn't too big, the advices and insight of the Prim family was everything the other families researched. Every advice that my brother or parents gave came with a hefty price: loyalty and recognition.

"You look like you want to jump out of the window." Blake chuckled

"Sadly but we are on the first floor for now then..."

As I finished my sentence, Dimitri Kang invited everyone to the last floor where the dinner and the numerous speeches about how great the company was would happen.

I waited for everyone to get in the elevator first, knowing I could enjoy the buffet a while longer. Numerous Circle waiter and waitress were standing there ready to serve anyone that would call out to them.

I sighed.

Life was really unfair for them.

"Stop staring at them Melody. Let's go." Blake ushered as he pulled me forward

I shrugged and we stepped inside the non-crowded elevator.

"You really can't jump out of the window now." Blake snickered as he took my hand

We stepped inside the dining hall the Mr. Kang was already making his welcoming speech. Talking about how wonderful and amazing this company would be. It was easy to spot the Kim's influence in his speech because it was so well made.

My father kept snickering at the pretty and well-turned sentences the man proudly told as if a child was reciting his lesson. Once the dinner was over, it was discussion time. I carefully escaped towards one of the balcony with a flute of champagne and looked at the view of the city.

"Ah..." someone grumbled

It was a guy with raven hair and pale skin. I had never seen him before and it looked like he wanted to take a smoke.

"You can come here, I was about to leave." I called him out as I grabbed my flute not even looking at him in his eyes

He didn't even thank me but that was typical Butterfly behavior. I didn't even take a good look at his face. Once setting the glass on one of the servants carrying plate, my father reached out for me. Unlike what it looked like, Michael Prim didn't like to socialize that much.

"Your daughter is a true beauty." A business man said "I heard that you have your own company." He snickered at that

Butterfly woman were just woman that were sold to Butterfly men. I was wholly against this vision. So was my father that was the main reason why he didn't stop my mother from working and didn't stop me from trying to grow on my own.

"I do. It works great." I answered before raising an eyebrow at him "Who are you again?"

The man coughed and I raised an eyebrow at my father.

"You know him?" I whispered out loud "Someone so unrefined that can't even answer a lady's question?"

My father shook his head and walked away. It was someone from a corrupted company anyway. We made our way towards the refreshments were my brother was hiding.

"Didn't we do enough socializing for tonight?" Blake whined

"It's too early for us to excuse ourselves unfortunately." My father answered after checking the time

My brother let out a long sigh as I gave him an encouraging pat.

"Excuse me."

The voice was unlike anything I heard before. There was a pointed interest in that voice. Something that made me tense and glance at Blake who had a similar reaction. This man whoever it was, had a certain confidence and could carry himself. "Kim Seokjin." My father greeted

The name all too familiar. My father wasn't stiff but relaxed. Kim Seokjin was one of the Top Butterfly. Owning a chain of luxurious restaurant and hotels, he was almost 28 years old and yet more successful than most of men twice his age and at least thrice as rich.

I looked at Blake. I didn't want to meet someone like that. I grabbed the wrist of my brother and spun him around.

"Here is my son, Blake Prim. Owner of Prim Tech Company. You must have heard of him..."

The conversation continued to flow as I remained back to the man. I had no interest in turning around and look at this man. An instinct in me told me that it wasn't the right thing to do. I tried walking away.

"And will I have the pleasure to see your face Young Lady?"

The time seemed to stop as Kim Seokjin himself asked that question. There were a few whispers around us and I cursed the male mentally again and again. I slowly turned around, but to my surprise my brother was standing in front of me, his huge back covering me.

"That is my sister Mr. Kim. She's undoubtedly extremely shy and embarrassed. Her makeup is all smudged, I wouldn't want you to offer you such a pore image of her." He explained elegantly

There was a moment of silence. I took a deep breath and even I could tell that my voice was translating how nervous I was.

"I'm really sorry. Sir." I squeaked

"That is understandable." Kim Seokjin brushed it off and I never thanked my brother so much "I understand that I will then see you at the afternoon tea party, my little sister is organizing. She's been craving for a good friend and I'm sure you fit all the criteria. Sunday at 2 pm." He added at the end

I heard him walk away and I couldn't even comprehend what had happened. My father's shoulders relaxed as he turned to me.

"If you don't behave yourself on Sunday, you'll create the absolute ruin of this family."

Thus, on Sunday early afternoon, I sat in front of my closet completely lost about what to wear. Nothing else except a tea party was mentioned. I was sent an invitation and most importantly I was told to dress nice. Dressing nice in Butterfly language was similar to dress classy. However, I had no will to meddle in the gossips of the young lady butterflies who were spoiled brats. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Having a hard time?" my brother chuckled

"Explain me why I gave you the key to my place?" I sighed not wanting to talk with him at all

"Because you love me as your favorite brother." He blinked

"You are my only brother Blake." I looked at him bewildered

"That is the point. So..." he skipped through my closer avoiding the mountain of clothes on the floor "How about this?" he showed me

The dress was a sweater dress with a high neck. All pastel pink, it was perfect for an afternoon tea in early autumn. I grabbed the dress and put it on as my brother hummed approvingly. I styled my hair accordingly with a brooch, wore jewelry of my company of the spring collection coming the year after and arranged my face however I could. When I twirled in front of my brother, he was speechless for a moment.

"I guess it works." I smiled teasingly

He cleared his throat as he nodded and handed me a pair of black angle boots that would complete the look. It wasn't as classy as it should probably be, but at least I would be comfortable.

"Let's go then." I smiled at him as he nodded

Blake was to be my escort to the tea party and would also drive me back. I had no idea what we would be drinking there. All I knew was that every butterfly girl wanted to be invited at least once to Kim Chaeyoung's afternoon tea party. It was the place to be on Sunday afternoon. I was already regretting the comfort of my couch as we stepped inside the Mercedes driving us to the hot spot.

"Don't do anything." Blake said

"What do you mean? Should I just stand there and do nothing?" I chuckled

"Yeah."

I looked at him and he was dead serious. I groaned. It would probably be the best actually. To stay put. Not do anything at all. It was also important for Blake to be there, because first of all he could meet his friend but also make new relationships.

It was much more an opportunity for him than for me. As we arrived, the place was really secured and it looked like we went in some celebrities' home, which was the case. Stepping inside, we were just on time as ladies began moving to the magnificent garden.

I let my brother join the male side of the party as I begrudgingly walked to the ladies' side.

"Welcome to my tea party."

A stage.

A stage for an afternoon tea party.

So Butterfly.

Chaeyoung Kim was a beautiful lady.

She was dignified and refined. Around 25 years old, she was probably one of the prettiest lady I ever met. However, she looked like she had a strong character. From the little information I got, she owned quite a few hotels and managed them extremely well. She walked down the stage and soon enough sat at the huge table.

There were approximately 50 girls and I was on the opposite end of the table. I was very happy to be there but the lady facing me didn't look as pleased. Some ladies were throwing her pitiful glance.

"How can she sit there?"

"I thought there were like sisters."

"Did she lie?"

"The hostess didn't come to the inauguration party so..."

It was Kang Felicia that I was facing then. A real pest from the gossips. I leaned against my chair and carefully sipped on my tea thanking the circle maid who gave me a beautiful smile in answer.

"Who are you?" the question was asked loudly as Kang Felicia looked at me with disdain

I carefully took my time to look at her from head to toe. I didn't want to talk to her. Really didn't want.

"I'm Melody Prime, Lady Kang." I introduced myself "A pleasure to meet you." I added with a business smile

"Prime?" she wondered "Never heard of them though..." she giggled along with a girl beside her

My eyes slid to her necklace that was from my company. A customer. I shouldn't be rude then. I smiled at her awkwardly and looked down. Acting pitiful was the best right now as it seemed to please her even more. She continued babbling as I nodded and looked down when needed. But at one point, I couldn't help it anymore. I yawned. The lady facing me froze as she looked at me.

"How dare you...?" she was getting redder and redder

Enough. I sighed and relaxed my posture.

"Since you have such a big mouth and want to talk bad about me, then tell me something useful. Do you know where your necklace comes from Lady Kang?" I smiled sweetly

"It is from a renown-"

"It is from my company. This is the Star Ice necklace that I made for my winter collection exactly two years ago. I'm so grateful that you have taste. Unfortunately it is only for jewelry and not for etiquette. Bad mouthing the guest of Lady Kim, you have guts that I didn't expect you to have Lady Kang." I put my cup down and stood up

"As interesting as this party was, I will now excuse myself. Here." I handed the present I had prepared as I looked at the woman at the top of the table

"Are you busy?" Lady Kim wondered

"I am not. But there's no gain for me being here." I smiled sweetly at her

"Then sit beside me and maybe you'll gain some of your curiosity back." She continued not losing her smile

Denying her would be the same as offending the whole Kim Family. I looked at the boy's side and saw my brother widen his eyes at me mouthing a silent question.

I took a deep breath and walked towards the woman and I stood next to her. The last thing I expected her to do was to pull me on her laps.

"How old are you?" she asked "You are so very cute." She sighed as she cupped my cheeks

Taken aback by the show of affection and I wasn't the only one from the few gasps I heard.

"I'm 21." I whispered

"I see that Lady Kang has bothered you. I heard that she felt faint and that she wanted to go home." She said a bit louder

Speechless, I looked at the other end of the table to see a pale Lady Kang looking at her. I shook my head surprised by the turn of the situation. However, Lady Kim wasn't one to be impressed. Another lady on her right, which reminded me furiously of someone because of her ethereal look. She stood up and walked over the seat of the said lady.

"Haven't you heard?" she said

Silence.

"I'm truly sorry Lady Kim. I didn't mean to insult anyone. I just wanted..."

"What you wanted doesn't explain why you insulted Lady Prime, the guest my brother took time to invite."

She knew. I felt even more self-conscious as I looked on the other side of the garden at my little brother who was pale. He couldn't walk over. If he did then, it would be a mess. I could see his jaw clenching as another male asked him what was wrong.

Soon Non-Marked bodyguards appeared and dragged Lady Kang back to the gate.

"Ah, soon enough."

"Lady Min." Lady Kim called out

So she was the twin sister of Min Yoongi. Big shots. I remained very still as Lady Kim continued talking with Lady Min.

"What do you think Lady Prime?" she asked at one point

They had been talking about the input of a new hotel in the center of the city near a mall.

"I don't think it is a good idea." I whispered fidgeting "The mall is made for Circles and Non-marked people, having a luxurious hotel nearby would certainly pleasure the Butterfly customers of the mall, but it might be unaffordable for most of the Circles.

Or something like a big present. Most hotels are already concentrated in the center of the city and I believe you already own a few there. Maybe, for once, it would be more interesting to settle a hotel near the seashore. Something with an affordable restaurant for the Circles enjoying the beach, with a more luxurious part for the..."

I hadn't realized I rambled until I raised my eyes from my laps and noticed that all ladies attention was on me. I stopped talking and closed my mouth embarrassed.

"Continue." Lady Min ordered

I looked at her and she gave me a nod. I bit my lips refusing to even take a look at the lady who I was literally seating on.

"What misses in hotels right now, is a different of classes. Rooms should be ranked by prices. The lowest one on the lowest floor and the higher one on the upper floor. Hotels nowadays only offer one range of price." I didn't want to criticize the Kang Hotel Line "I'm not saying that it is necessarily a bad thing. However, everyone should have the possibility of experimenting luxury. The highest price should not be more than 150 dollars a night or so..." I let the gasps be heard

In fact that was more like pocket money for Butterfly.

"It will raise benefits. Circles will have the possibility to experiment luxury and it will be attractive. They will want to come back if they are treated the same as we are." I whispered the end

"That is a huge risk." A lady said

"But it will generate a high profit. Maybe not right away, but with time it would be extremely popular. That's my thoughts. However I'm not a businesswoman that is merely a thought that I nourished."

At that time, I had no idea that I would be the source of success of the Min and Kim Hotel line. That my idea was the reason why they became even more famous than they already were.

However, Lady Min and Lady Kim had well remembered the concept and the ideas enumerated by the young girl. And the thing that they thought was that this girl would be of extremely good advice.

"Give me your number." Lady Min and Lady Kim said at the same time

"Uh?" I said widening my eyes

"I think that you might be a good friend in the near future." Lady Min said "Your ideas are...unexpected to say the least." She locked eyes momentarily with Lady Kim "I'm Wheein Min by the way."

A waiter brought my purse and my phone was snatched away from me once I unlocked it. I was surprised as Lady Kim entered her number herself before handing it to Lady Min. I tried to stand up, but the lady was unexpectedly strong as she kept me there.

"Let's chat a little bit more." She grinned "Everyone can go home. I think the tea party for you as lasted long enough."

She stood up finally and I almost couldn't feel my legs anymore.

"Sis!"

My brother gathered all the attention. Blake was a gorgeous young man. Despite being only 18, he was extremely good looking and his light brown hair identic to mine were flowing nicely on top of his head. His tall build and well-endowed nature also helped. I could see a few lady blush as I managed to lean on him as he rushed to me.

"Are you alright?" He asked

"You shouldn't be here." I hissed looking at him in worry "Everybody is looking at-"

"Blake Prime, I presume?" Lady Kim said

My brother stiffened at the venomous tone. He stood in front of me and I could see the eyebrows of Lady Kim twitched. I tried taking back control, but one thing that my brother inherited from my mother was his stubbornness.

"I'm really sorry Lady Kim. My sister is weak of constitution and her pale look alerted Me." he explained truthfully

"Oh, oh." Lady Kim wasn't buying it

"Blake" I called out pinching his side, but he didn't react "Blake, for god's sake." I grumbly said

Then I felt it coming. A cough fit. I tightened my grip on him and he finally turned around. Then before I could hold it back, I began to cough. A true cough fit. Feeling the wetness on my hand, I didn't move as it finished and I covered myself with him.

"Handkerchief." I whispered

He hurried and handed me one as I wiped my mouth and my hand taking a deep breath in. And slapping him.

"STUPID LITTLE BROTHER." I said out and loud "You dare bother Lady Kim's tea party with a mere sore throat that I caught this morning. I know that you are much attached to me but still. I ought to teach you some manners." I grabbed his ear and he whined as he bent down to my level "I'm really sorry about this lady Kim, Lady Min." I said as they were both watching me in astonishment "I got to teach him some manners. I'll scold him very well back home. I refuse to importune you any further."

I bowed and walked away dragging my brother behind me. As the car arrived, I dived inside and after that I fainted.

"She needs to rest. I will visit her tomorrow."

The doctor's words were formal as I sat in the king size bed. Blake was standing there as Hana was worriedly looking between me and the doctor. I had another cough fit when I snapped out of my unconsciousness and threw blood again. I had Hana report the rumors of the outside world and it was a real mess. However, neither the Kim nor Min's expressed themselves on the subject.

"I'm dead tired." I said looking at Hana "How did the launch go?" I wondered

"Amazing Head. All the products are sold out." She praised "However, you shouldn't bother with such thing for now and focus on your health." She added

"You can go Hana, I will deal with my sister." Blake said politely

As she gave me one last look and a slight nod, I watched her walk through the door with an appeased heart. Truthfully, I felt tired. My chest was hurting and while the painkillers gave me momentary relief, it wasn't enough. I closed my eyes and I felt Blake sit on the chair just beside my bed.

"You have work little bro. Your older sister can take of herself well-enough." I ushered

"Yeah. I know." He didn't move an inch though "Lay down Melody. You avoided the scandal only partially. It is better for you to be resting right now." he added

I decided to listen to him for once and laid down, medication soon taking the best of me.

The next morning, I managed to save enough energy to shower while Blake's maid changed my sheets. I had no personal workers in my penthouse, but when Blake came he always brought two or three people to clean my place and make everything easier.

I had been against it at first, but then slowly I felt thankful to these people. We were familiar with each other now and their unwavering loyalty was enough to make both Blake and I comfortable.

"You should be resting Lady Prime." Tara pushed me gently towards the couch

"I can very well take breakfast at the table." I whined

"Sure." The old maid sighed as she pushed me down on the sofa

Soon a very soft blanket along with pillows cocooned me and Blake nodded satisfied at Tara who grinned at me. The Circle woman had been with us for a long time and we trusted her like a mother. The sound of the doorbell had Mira the second maid set my breakfast aside.

She was a quiet girl, only 16, but hard working. She was a No-Mark that Blake saved from the slums. I had recognized my brother as worthy even more after that. She was a very strong girl and could carry me with ease.

"How are you this morning Sis?" Blake asked

"I'm feeling better. I coughed a little yesterday, but I'm feeling better." I whispered "I went on our website and the launch was really successful, it made me all fired up for the coming collections." I clapped my hand

Moving and getting excited made another cough fit raise and I couldn't help myself but cough heavily. Tara patted my back as she handed me a handkerchief. Only small droplets of blood fell from my lips, but it was still very painful for me.

"Tara, a glass of water please." Blake said reaching out for me "I thought the doctor..." Blake not ending his sentence made me raise my head and look behind us.

A man.

Beautiful brown and golden locks with hair perfectly styled.

Brown eyes reaching deep into the soul. Eyes translating interest.

"Oh my."

Lady Kim hurriedly stepped forward as I kept my eyes locked with this man I soon enough realized was Kim Seokjin. I began feeling tingles and a burning sensation behind my ear and I reached out for my mark hissing and breaking eye contact with the handsome male.

"What...why is one seventh of your mark golden?" my brother whispered to me as Lady Prime pushed him aside and patted my back gently

"Uh?" I wondered "Lady Kim, how did-?" I wondered as the lady soon smiled at me

"You escaped me last time and it took me some time to reach out for you." She revealed "You must have seen my brother already, he is-"

"Kim Seokjin."

Butterflies in my stomach.

This voice.

I couldn't even look at him in the eyes as I nodded.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Kim." I whispered

Blake on the other hand didn't move his eyes away from his sister's mark. He had seen it shine and then partially become golden. Once Kim Seokjin spoke, Blake felt shiver through his spine as he finally looked at the imposing male who was looking at his sister like...like what?

He couldn't find the words, but he didn't like it at all.

As he looked at the Butterfly mark, usually a dark black, it was entirely golden, glistening on his skin. Lady Kim followed Blake's eyes and she noticed that unlike usual, her brother looked...amused. Intrigued even. Blake finally snapped back to reality as he saw his sister struggling under the powerful aura of both people.

"My sister is still unwell." He spoke getting both people's attention

"We won't bother her." Seokjin answered

"Young Master, the doctor arrived. Should I tell him to come back later?" Mira spoke

"No. I think he will enlighten us on more than one thing." Blake spoke locking eyes with Kim Seokjin.

Minutes later, Doctor Mang was still speechless as he looked at both young people and saw their mark. He had heard of it happening in other countries.

People's whose mark changed color and were bounded for life. From the worried look on the lady's face and the unworried look on the other concerned, it was clear that one of them was aware of the situation and yet the other wasn't.

"I must inform you that this is the first case ever observed in this country." He told Blake as he eyes Kim Seokjin sweating and slightly trembling

"The golden mark." Kim Seokjin smiled

He didn't expect this. When he w as at the Kang's new hotel, the last thing he wanted was to come. However, his attention got swayed by a beautiful lady with a beautiful pink gown. A bit too much, but it suited her nonetheless.

He had watched the way she sighed at the Kang's speech and was exchanging looks with Blake Prime. He had gathered that she was either his fiancée or his sister.

He had hoped for the latter and had been good to do so. He remembered watching her smile and thinking about it days later.

Kim Seokjin wasn't a man that needed women. Women came to him like bees for honey. It was as easy at that. He had power, wealth and connections. The last thing he missed and that his mother was being so annoying about was a spouse.

He didn't understand why the golden locks and bewitching smile of Melody Prime had him obsessed. When she had refused to face him, too embarrassed or not, he almost wanted to tap his foot on the floor like a kid. Fortunately, she had also picked his sister's interest. So the tea party was the perfect excuse.

When he heard the commotion and saw her discreetly cough covered by her brother, he had seen the reddening piece of cloth and his mind had frozen.

Was she sick? He had gathered no information that she did!

He had been furious against the men he sent, but fortunately his friend Min Yoongi always got his back.

He lived with him and three other males from the wealthiest Butterfly families. And another one, but that's another story to tell. Now that his attraction was his 'Link' he had no worries. Except the little brother who looked oh so reluctant.

"Link is the name of a phenomenon who touched two people or more and bound them forever." The doctor explained under the piercing gaze of Blake Prime "Lady Prime is Mr. Kim's link." He muttered

"Link can't stay away from each other for a long time, especially after they first met. Moreover, the male are usually more possessive over the female link. As Lady Prime has a...fragile nature, it will only strengthened." The doctor explained

"Oh, are we becoming family then?" Lady Kim explained

I widened my eyes looking at the motivated sister of Kim Seokjin. I looked at my brother speechless, not knowing what to say. He looked pale as he looked back at me, overwhelmed by it.

"You will just have to move in with me." Kim Seokjin said as if it was the most usual thing "I also have an inkling on why your mark isn't entirely golden." He hummed

"Wait, isn't that a bit sudden?" I said panicked

"Lady Prime you shouldn't panic. Your heart-"

"Silence." Blake cut of the doctor

The atmosphere tensed as I looked at Blake. Kim Seokjin stood up and raised an eyebrow at my younger brother. I stood up and stood in front of him.

"No." I warned

"No?" Seokjin was even more amused now as he looked at the little girl in front of him

"No." I pushed

"But we are linked sweetheart." Seokjin retorted

The pink dust growing on her cheeks made Seokjin's smile soften. He grabbed the blanket that had been tossed aside and wrapped the girl in it, before swiftly picking her up. Her gasp and the flinch of her brother who took a step forward was enough for Seokjin to guess that they were close.

"Chaeyoung, take the brother with you. I will take care of her." Seokjin ordered

"Put me-"

A cough. Seokjin watched the white night wear get reddish and he could feel his heart slam in his chest. He was worried. He looked at the doctor sharply, who inhaled.

"I will get her, a better doctor." He hissed "Blake Prime. I know you don't trust me. But, I take what's mine." Jin warned

"I'm not a belonging." I said voice rough

"Of course not sweetheart, but you are mine nevertheless." Seokjin gave me soft eyes and I couldn't even retort anything

"Come on little bro." Chaeyoung Kim pushed the male forward "Let's get your sister to someone's competent." She added

I looked at the penthouse we just arrived in and it was a thousand times different from mine. It was a mansion. On top of a building. Seokjin walked in, always carrying me. He had refused to let go of me. I had try arguing but only had been warned to shut my mouth or I would have been kissed.

"Taehyung!" Seokjin called

"What?" the voice was rough

My eyes locked with dark night blue eyes and I was momentarily stunned as my mark began acting up again.

The male stood frozen as his hand reached over to his mark. Different expression ran through his face, too quickly for I too decipher. Moreover he walked over and stood way too close for a stranger. When his forehead met with mine, I clutched my eyes close and held in my breath.

"39" he whispered "Give her to me."

I snapped my eyes open as I felt myself being carried from one arm to another. I looked at the male whose eyes were staring at me, shutting me up. I couldn't help but look away. He didn't say anything as he kind of stopped moving.

"Jungkook!" he called

"Coming Hyung!" I heard back

The sound of steps being gone down. I looked at the stairs and the man there just froze as we locked eyes. He had an arm full of tattoos and several piercings...an eyebrow piercing? My eyes widened as his got golden. My mark burned again and I hissed. He stepped back, feeling scared.

"Oh fuck." Taehyung curses "Jungkook...calm down..."

The man called Jungkook actually ran away. He climbed up the stairs so quickly I had a hard time following him. I looked at Taehyung bewildered. I was rolled like a burrito, probably blood in the corner of my lips and I just met three men. Three who would probably be part of whatever my future would be made of.

Taehyung didn't look as fazed as he climbed up the stairs and we arrived in what looked like doctor's cabinet. He set me there gently and I couldn't help but smile a little at being finally set down. He did a full check-up on me and I had another cough fit. When he saw me coughing blood, he couldn't help but slightly widen his eyes.

"Are you aware of your sickness?" he asked in a professional tone

"I am not. I was told I had a weak constitution from birth so...yeah." I hummed

I felt like I was out of the place. He looked at me and sighed.

"Do I have to call on someone for you to shower and dress up?" he asked

I looked at him stunned for a second. Then it hit me that most of the Butterfly girls were treated like little princesses. Something that didn't happen to me and that I wouldn't have want to experience. While I felt slightly offended, I shook my head.

"No, if you show me the bathroom and maybe gave me a change of clothes, I'll be fine." I smiled

He looked unsure, but still guided me to an empty bathroom. My eyes roamed around the huge marbled bathroom and he handed me a hoodie, shorts and female underwear. Which were my size. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"One of your-"

"Lady!"

Tara cut Taehyung off and stood in front of Taehyung shielding me from him. Taehyung didn't say anything and just left the bathroom not even looking behind him. Blake stepped through the bathroom, uncaring about Taehyung halting his steps and looking at him with a frown.

"Who are you?" he asked

"Blake Prime." He just said "That's my sister that you left in there." He added before slamming the door shut

Blake and I exchanged a long glance as he raised his sleeves and pointed to the bath. I shook my head and pointed to the shower.

"No, we have to talk. Take time. This doesn't make sense Melody." Blake spoke as Tara helped me out of my clothes

"It doesn't make sense but my mark is still very much partially golden Blake." I snapped feeling the little bit of nerves I had left running thin

"The bath." Tara raised her voice "We have to wash that blood of." She added

We both straightened and nodded as Blake leaned against the opposite wall. I had seen Taehyung left for a about a minute, but it was clear that he wasn't that quick. I stepped inside the bath, the bubbles covering up my chest as I closed my eyes.

"So Kim Seokjin, Kim Taehyung and one called Jungkook." Blake resumed "If his eyes turned golden that means..." he trailed off

"That he is a Non-marked." I took a deep breath in at Tara's word

"But that isn't the problem. I don't care if he is a Butterfly, a Circle or a Non-Marked. I didn't...I didn't even get to truly talk to any of them. Mr. Kim was quiet during the whole ride, then I looked like I was annoying the fuck out of Doctor Kim and thirdly Jungkook ran away from me." I rambled

"And your mark isn't fully colored." Blake ended

I peered into the class and true to my brother's word my mark wasn't even halfway golden. I could feel a lingering burn there, but I decided to remain quiet about it. I washed myself and got rid of the blood.

"Did you contact Dad?" I wondered

"Lady Kim was oh so nice to take my phone away from me." Blake gritted "That girl is...particular."

The twitch of his eyebrow was characteristic of him when he was deadly annoyed. I smiled a bit feeling the situation was really out of hand.

"If we are both out of reach." I started

"Dad is going to search for us." Blake completed "But I don't think that they will try to cut of communication. This issue is too big for not being openly addressed. You are linked to two Kim's. And I got an inkling that's not about it." Blake sighed

"I'm tired." I whispered as I got dressed

My brother looked at me. I was still feverish and still needed to rest. Leaning my forehead against Tara's shoulder, I closed my eyes. I had no energy to deal with this. With whatever the hell was going on. My company was finally working. I finally had everything going on well. I just had to find something to fight against my poor health situation and then it would be fine.

"It's going to be alright Lady Melody." Tara hugged me

I offered her a sad smile and the three of us stepped out of the bathroom.

Surprisingly, Jungkook was standing there. Tensed. I looked at him and it felt like it was just the two of us. His golden eyes were truly stunning. But I noticed that their light's had dimmed down compared to before. He was quiet. So quiet that it scared me. I didn't really know what was going on.

"My sister is tired. Do you know a place she could rest before...you all talk please?" Blake asked politely

Jungkook snapped his head towards Blake in surprise. He pursued his lips and nodded once. Blake looked at me and slid his arms under my knees as he picked me up.

"You're going to faint at this rate." He whispered

"I'll carry her."

That was the first sentence Jungkook said to me. Blake didn't have much of a choice as Jungkook pulled me to him. I stumbled, but he caught me effortlessly. We walked towards the living room we just came in and there were other men there. Men I didn't recognize and right now the last thing I wanted was to lock eyes with someone.

"Take her to the guest room." Jin's voice was calm "I think that she got enough ups and downs for today."

I woke up the next morning feeling like I was watched. I opened my eyes and almost screamed of surprise as Taehyung was looking straight at me. I gulped as he sat there silently.

"Who send you?" he asked

I widened my eyes to look around the room and Seokjin was also standing there, quietly. Anyone could have guessed he was asleep, but I would bet on the fact that he was listening to this intently.

"I'm sorry?" I said throat sore

"I asked who send you." Taehyung's tone was menacing and instantly I backed away

He looked hell scary.

"Taehyung calm down." Another voice said

The same voice from the balcony. I forced myself to not turn around. My phone was then tossed on the bed and I reached out for it. Not really paying attention to the men around me, I checked my emails. I had completely forgotten that I had a meeting with Mr. Ming today. A sponsor of quality.

"Shit." I cursed seeing the time

"You didn't motherfucking answer my question Melody Prime." Taehyung groaned

"And I don't remember owing fucking anything Kim Taehyung." I snapped my head to him "I don't have any idea what is going on and the least of my goals was too approach one of the big Butterfly. I don't know what the hell is wrong is you." I stood up the bed "I have work, instead of being a pervert and watch a girl sleep." I walked through the door and to the entrance

"Where do you think you are going right now?" Jin said his voice a hint of authority in it

"I have a meeting with a sponsor aka Mr. Ming and I can't miss it." I said grabbing shoes I recognized as mine "I'll manage to contact you later on." I put my hand on the doorknob and tried opening it but the door was slammed making me shriek.

"No." the voice was warning and I felt sweat run down my spine "First of all, you are still sick. Secondly, you can't stay away for you link when you just form them-"

"I don't want to stay here. Even if I have to." I swatted his hands away from the door "I didn't build my company and my life away from high class Butterfly like you for it to be ruined. I'm sorry, but this thing whatever it is-"

"Is it because of Jungkook?" Seokjin interrupted

I took a deep breath in.

No, Melody. You don't use violence on people. You are better than that. You have a place to be, on time. Deep breathe in. Deep breathe out.

"Actually, it is not. It's because Kim's freak me out."

And I closed the door on his face. God it felt good. A tiny hint of guilt, but enough to forget to call Hana and to fetch a taxi.

It's been 2 hours after the meeting with Mr. Ming which surprisingly was exceptionally fast and went really better than expected. I sat in my office and my mark was burning. Hell hot burning. However, I had work to do. Jay stepping in, made me force to look up from my laptop. The simple movement got a wince out of me.

"Kim Taehyung-"

"I'm busy Jay." I cut him off "Tell him no."

Jay widened his eyes at me. I had never been this short with him. He was about to reply when the door to my office slammed open. There stood Kim Namjoon in all his glory and when his eyes met mine, I felt like part of my skin was being burnt off. From his similar hiss, it must have not felt great either. I could also see Jungkook, dressed like a bodyguard or at least it seemed like it was his job.

"Jin wasn't wrong." Namjoon murmured but I heard him

"Get out of my office." I snapped "You have no right-"

"I have every right. I can buy this building like it is nothing." Kim Namjoon's voice towered mine "You will come with us and we will deal with this like adults Melody Prime." He gritted

"No." I smiled at him "Out." I pointed the door

"Or we can do this here." Seokjin and Taehyung stepped inside making me groan "Oh, I was right then." Seokjin smirked at Namjoon who scoffed

"Jay" I called out "How is my security so low?" I asked

At the same time, Hana came running into the office.

"Head, all the security guards suffer from injuries, they...oh." She cut herself off

I looked at the men in front of me.

"They weren't being nice." Seokjin smiled "Now...where were we?" he plopped down on the sofa

"Hana, Jay step out for a second please. It seems like I have to deal with these gentlemen for a few minutes." I said to my employees

"Do you need me to call little bro?" Jay questioned as I opened the door for him

"No. It'll be fine. It's just assholes to deal with." I waved him off and he gave me a curt nod

I turned around and the fire I felt on my neck had dimmed down. The four men sat there silently watching me as I plopped down on one of the sofa chair.

"So?" I questioned

"First, I want to apologize about this morning." Taehyung spoke up first

"Apology rejected. Then?" I said looking at the other three men

Namjoon stifled a laugh as Taehyung's got so shocked that he couldn't say anything. I saw Jungkook snicker in the corner of my eyes and Seokjin smiled indulgently at Taehyung.

"I think we need to talk without any animosity." Seokjin offered

I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Without any animosity? When you suspected me to have been sent by someone to swindle you? When you thought that I have anything against Non-Marked while employing them? When you menaced buying my company because of your arrogant ass?" I chuckled "I think that you have a strange vision on non-animosity Mr. Kim." I smiled sweetly at him

Seokjin's smile faltered for a second as he looked at Taehyung and then at Namjoon.

"So Jungkook is fine." Namjoon hummed

"If he wasn't tensed like a wood stick right now, he'll probably be." I offered

The said male flinched as he tried to relax but it didn't work to well to not say that it didn't work at all. Seokjin looked at Jungkook and sighed.

"Namjoon." He said

"Jungkook, at rest." The latter said

Jungkook slightly relaxed and I understood slowly. My estimation for these guys just dived down. Jungkook was Namjoon's entitled Non-Marked. Basically, it meant that Jungkook was Namjoon's slave. The disgust I felt towards him didn't seem to reach him more than I thought. It made me think that there was something else behind it. However, I didn't ask. Meddling too much in their business would get me swayed and I couldn't have that.

"Mr. Kim" the three men raised their head making it quite comical but as I was addressing all of them I held back smiling "Do you know how to get rid of this?" I pointed to my golden mark

"Yes." Seokjin spoke "Dying." He answered with that same business smile

I widened my eyes. Nothing was telling that he just said the truth.

"We wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't so important." Namjoon sighed

That misogynist attitude would have to change. Fast. Everyone and not just Kim Namjoon was busy on this planet. Although, I had to admit that the Finance sector was mostly controlled by him.

"Then, do you have an idea working it out?" I offered

"First of all, I have an idea of two other people who are also part of all of this." Namjoon said "Min Yoongi and Park Jimin."

When I heard those name, I almost groaned. Especially at the last one. Park Jimin was known for being a fuckboy who didn't give a care about women and had the coldest attitude on planet earth. Something that was unfitting his personality. He dealt with problems quickly: meaning that he would erase them. However, I being a problem linked to his friends, he couldn't erase me. Result: he would just plainly avoid me.

Min Yoongi was someone I met twice and I barely exchanged a word with. Otherwise, I knew that he was a man who gave nothing but problems to my little brother. Hence, having both of those men included didn't seem like a good news.

"Jimin won't take a step near her." Taehyung mumbled loud enough "She's not of his standard and neither of ours..." he added

I heard all of that. I must admit that it was quite a shitty thing to say. To a woman. I leaned against my chair and closed my eyes. What was the most efficient way of dealing with all of this? From what I understood, the Link or whatever was between us, would settled down after a week of time or a dozen of days at least. After that, it would be the same as usual. Except the mark being golden. Then.

"Since you have more important position than I do and are probably busier than I am, I'll spend a day with each of you during the next week or so. It'll give the Link whatever it needs to settled down. After settling down, we would have to meet every month or so...let's say for lunch or dinner. It could be at an inauguration party of some sort..." I kept speaking while thinking "That way, we won't have to deal with each other." I clapped my hand "How does that sound gentlemen?"

One Week later

"I'm beat." I whispered

I had to accompany Seokjin to all of his meetings and although I learned a lot, the man had a stamina I didn't expect. My body had really suffered during this week. The four men, of course, gave me no consideration at all. Ignoring my existence, purely and simply. Rumors had been spreading, but except labelling me as a Butterfly hoe, nothing else really stood out.

Blake had been giving the cold shoulder since I hadn't talked to him about everything that had happened. Tara was staying with me for a while and her massage were really live saving. The most awkward day was Wednesday. I spent a day with Jungkook. It was his rest day and he basically stood in the room where I was while working. Not a glance and not a word. I had been able to work, but not even politeness and greetings had been exchanged.

"Did it settle down?" Tara wondered

"It did. It doesn't burn anymore, we will just have to see what happens next." I sighed relaxing in the perfumed bath

"You sure look exhausted." Tara added

"I am." I whispered "This few days showed me exactly what I needed. Butterfly men are just arrogant and selfish businessmen." I added

The doorbell ringing made me whine as Tara left. After some minutes, I frowned since she wasn't coming back. I put on a robe and put order in my wet hair. As I stepped inside the living room, I was greeted by the sight of a man I didn't know. Yet his reputation preceded him. Park Jimin looked handsome. There was no denying to it, there was nothing else to say expect that he looked exceptionally good. I finally understood why so many women feel for him. As his eyes met mine, just as Seokjin had predicted, the mark burnt me. I hissed and looked around for Tara.

"Your maid is polite. She was serving me tea. Unlike her master, she got manners." His smile was sweet but his words were icy

I closed my eyes and Jimin's phone rang. It was obviously Jin on the other side.

"We couldn't have fallen worse I agree." Jimin said finally to the other side of the phone

I decided to brush aside these painful words and went to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror and for the first time in a long time, I let my tears fall down. I hadn't asked to be linked with those men. I had qualms about them at first. I had even admired them, because they achieved so much. I smiled at myself in the mirror. I looked like a wreck. Tara stepped inside.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly

"I'll be fine. Once they are out of my life for good, I'll be fine." I offered a small smile to the old lady as she gave me a wry nod

"You want to what?" I questioned

I had been yet again surprised as Min Yoongi had appeared on my doorstep. As both men had linked with me, I had to spend time with them.

"We'll stay here for the weekend." Jimin said "You have guest rooms don't you?"

"I do, but-"

"Then what is there to discuss?" Yoongi said as he strolled through my penthouse "I'll have the left wing guest room. Jimin will have the one next to mine." He looked at Tara.

I looked at him incredulous, before just nodding at Tara and both men walked away. This was hell pure hell. I didn't even realize that Yoongi had chosen the rooms the furthest away from the master bedroom until I stepped inside my room. The furthest away from me, the better I guessed. I plopped down on my bed in a sigh.

"What do you want for dinner Melody?" Tara asked as she stepped inside

"Ask my father for a chef. A good one and serve them a correct meal. I won't eat with them, I'll get sick. It won't hurt as long as we are on a 200 meters radius. It'll be more than fine." I told her

"When we'll you be eating then?" she asked frowning

"With you, I'll make dinner tonight." I clapped "It'll take my mind of things."

Tara smiled and gave a small nod. This evening wouldn't be so annoying after all.

After Hana informed me that they had gone back to their respective room for dinner, I excitedly stepped down the stairs and hurried to the kitchen. I was excited to cook in a while. Following these guys took all of my energy.

"So what are you making me tonight?" Tara wondered

"Surprise, surprise." I smiled at her

I would something simple and delicious. Marinated chicken with several greens and some toasted potatoes sounded right. I began cooking carefully manipulating the ingredients as I exchanged gossips with Tara.

She didn't ask me anything about the men and I couldn't be more grateful for that. I settled some music, not to loud to not bother our annoying guests and began dancing and singing to the songs I held dear in my heart.

"You are beautiful Lady Melody." Tara said with a big smile

I offered her a smile, while the boys' words appeared in my head. I brushed them off. As I finished to cook everything and settled the plates, I froze. Park Jimin and Min Yoongi were standing there eyes focused on me. Their mark slightly shining.

I cut the music off and Tara furrowed her eyebrows before swiftly standing up.

"Did you need something sir?" she asked politely

That made both of them snap out of their trance. I turned around and took my apron off and stalked up to them.

"The hell do you want?" I gritted

A sharp look.

"We heard noise." Yoongi offered

"That's my home. I can make as much noise as I POSSIBLY wish for." I snapped back

"Do you have to be so unpleasant?" Jimin rolled his eyes

"I don't know do you have to barge in someone's eyes and criticize them as soon as you come in?" I smiled at him

He flinched and narrowed his eyes at the open attack I did on him.

"Just go back to your room. At the end of the weekend, it'll be the end of this bothersome situation for all of us." I said turning my back on them

"You cook?" Jimin ignored my words

I glare at him.

"Tara. Take it home with you. I'm not hungry anymore. Matteo will probably love it." I added smiling sadly to the old woman

"Thank you Lady Prime." Tara bowed and began packing

I accompanied her to the door as she told me she set some aside for me. It was important for me to eat. I had wished for her to have her weekend with her husband and not to come for the weekend. Matteo was the head gardener of my parents' mansion. He was the nicest dude in the whole universe. A Circle who didn't care about social ranking. A golden soul.

"See you." I waved her off

"Monday, I'll give you my best relaxing bath." She winked

I walked back to my living room and saw the two men eating. My plate. I stared at them.

"It's good." Yoongi said

"Really." I said "I'm sure that you already ate though?" I pinched my nose bridge and they looked at me

"Doesn't mean we can't appreciate good food." Jimin shrugged

His behavior was much more carefree than I had been expecting. Before I could say anything else, Jimin pulled me by the wrist to him. I looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"I also know how to cook." Yoongi said "I'll make it up to you."

"What kind of trickery is this?" I wondered

"Jimin and I decided to have a different approach from the other four. While they want to keep the relationship strictly professional, we think that we can trust you. That we can hopefully have amicable relationship." Yoongi explained "A quiche does sound good." He stated

"You want to be friends?" I looked at Jimin suspiciously "You?"

He grimaced. No. He didn't.

"I want at least to get to know you." Yoongi got my attention back "I observed you during the last week and you are quite different from the other Butterfly girls I met before. The guys' problem for not realizing it."

I didn't expect this at all. I kept staring at him. He came to me and I almost took a step back. However, Yoongi didn't pay mind to my actions as he carefully picked me up and set me on the kitchen counter.

Standing between my legs, his night blue eyes staring deeply into mine. I didn't know what to think so I just did what I wanted: I brushed my finger against the golden mark. That had been still and melt as he settled his arms around me.

His warm embrace was different from the hugs I got from my brother or Jay...it felt different and a good way of such.

"Stop hogging her." Jimin said

"Oh?" Yoongi turned around and unconsciously I pulled my arms around him

Before I could take them away, he held on them and leaned against my chest more. It felt extremely relaxing to have him like this. It was strange, because we didn't know each other at all. However, he felt like he belonged here. Even if it was a trick, I wouldn't regret it. It felt great.

"I...I..." Jimin stuttered.

Park Jimin stuttered. I couldn't help but giggle at the absurdity of the situation and he turned around embarrassed.

"Come here." I called the male over

"I...I am sorry. I think that I didn't take you feelings into account. Yoongi Hyung convinced me to accompany him here and I actually arrived before him. When we locked eyes, I just felt like you belonged by...my side. I never felt that way towards anyone." He blurted it all out.

Conclusion: Park Jimin was freaking adorable. Yoongi chuckled as he let my hands go and walked over to the oven to check on the quiche. I opened my arms and Jimin walked forward. He looked at me and for the first time in a long time I could see that he presented his bare mind in front of me. That he was purely honest. I couldn't help but smile slightly.

"You are so cute." I whispered as I hugged him closer "I'm also sorry towards you and Yoongi for my attitude. Since your friends and I started off on rocky grounds." I added

"You don't have to be sorry. I entirely understand your attitude, I was more pissed at the guys than you'd think." Jimin hugged me back

"Taehyung broke up with his girlfriend not too long ago and has been acting like a little brat these past few weeks." Yoongi continues "Namjoon has never been interested in woman, Jungkook neither and Jin Hyung...he just wants a spouse for his mother to stop bugging him." Yoongi listed with his hand

We continued talking and it was really nice. Jimin and Yoongi were really nice people. Jimin didn't lie about being a fuckboy, but we didn't mention it more than once seeing how uncomfortable he was with it. I ate a slice of quiche and it was delicious. Then, we decided to watch a movie together and fell asleep.

When I woke up, bothered by the sun, I didn't expect to find myself sandwiched in my bed by the two men I had met last night. Yoongi was spooning me and Jimin had his head nuzzled in my neck.

I felt extremely grateful and I really hoped from the bottom of my heart, that this wasn't fake.

That this relationship would work out.

"Up?" Yoongi yawned as he held me closer

"Yep." I whispered brushing my hand in Jimin's golden locks "How did you sleep?" I asked

"Very, very good." Yoongi said "I can sense that you are worried about something, mind telling me?" he asked

I shifted uncomfortable. Jimin groaned and whined as he opened his eyes. He had a pout. Park Jimin was pouting, god bless my heart. He looked at me for a moment and then a slight blush covered his cheeks.

"It's the first time I fell asleep next to a woman." He revealed

"You usually are an insomniac like me indeed." Yoongi stretched as he ruffled the boy's hair

"I slept like never before. Just might have to do this all the time." Jimin nodded "but that doesn't change the topic, what are you worried about?"

I felt my eyes get teary. Because this was too good. I knew how messed up the Butterfly society was. I knew that I should be on guard, but I didn't want to be. I wanted to be in that safe space without worrying. I wanted that bubble of warmth to remain were it was. I wanted...

"Baby, why are you crying?" Jimin's panicked voice made me snap out of my dark thoughts

I turned away from him and hid my face in Yoongi's chest.

"I don't want you two to leave me. I don't want this to be a dream. I'm scared." I whispered "I don't want to be abandoned."

I felt silly. I felt silly for crying and whining out like that. Both men didn't look surprised which only accentuated my fears. Yoongi's embrace loosened around me. I sat up and he looked at me. His eyes revealed something I didn't expect to be there. Fondness. A fond look full of...I didn't want to think about what words would be next. I eyed him carefully.

"You're not alone in thinking that way you know?" Jimin whispered

I looked at him surprised. Jimin was the man of all desire. He could get a woman tens time prettier than me and get her to marry her in just a breath. I didn't understand how...

"The first time I saw you, I felt like tearing my heart out of my chest and handing it to you. That is exactly how I felt. I have never felt so useless against my own feelings before. I had control on everything and then there's you." His look changed and he looked distant

"You. That I can't control. You that is linked to me and that I felt incredibly unpleasant towards. Because of that lack of control. Yoongi Hyung had warned me that you were a burning hot flame. That it wouldn't be easy to get a hold of you. That...you would be my obsession." He finished

The strength of his feelings was like a punch in the stomach. I didn't feel that strong towards them yet. The sparkling mark was surely the cause of his feelings. Yoongi didn't express it, but his eyes reflected the torment in Jimin's eyes.

"Then let's make a promise now." I said not realizing the power my words had at the moment

Both men sat in front of me. Promises between butterflies were something similar to an oath. Something that in your life couldn't break away.

"I, Melody Prime, Promise on the Butterfly Mark, that I will never betray or abandon my Link if they accept me back, care of me. I will cherish them like they cherish me. Respect them like they respect me." I ended

"I, Yoongi Min, Promise on the Butterfly Mark that I will never betray or abandon Melody Prime. I promise that I will pamper, cherish and take care of her until death sends us apart." He stated

The mark continued to shine brighter. I hadn't swore on death, but that showed how serious Yoongi was being.

"I, Jimin Park, Promise on the Butterfly Mark that I will never betray or abandon Melody Prime. I promise that I will pamper, cherish and take care of her until death sends us apart." Jimin repeated the same oath

I widened my eyes slightly as a golden butterfly entered my room through the window I didn't open and I opened my hands for it. Right away, I felt a warmth held me and a golden band appeared around my wrist as my mark stopped burning.

Yoongi and Jimin widened their eyes as the same thing happened to them once the Butterfly touched them, before vanishing into thin air. We stayed silent for a moment and I couldn't help but giggle. And we all laughed

"I can't believe this." I said between laughter

"The Butterfly God seemed to have recognized our promise I guess." Jimin smiled idly

Yoongi was quiet as he pulled me closer to him.

"Now you can't escape away from us."

Two weeks later

"Jiminie!" I called out "Breakfast!"

"Coming baby!"

I smiled as Yoongi sipped on his coffee before opening his arms to me. Jimin and Yoongi had come to live with me. I hadn't talked to Blake again and he blocked me. I was not sure about what got me so much ire, but I would be able to talk to him soon. Jimin arrived and his black shirt and pants really enhanced his now black hair. He had traded his golden locks, for a darker color.

"Stop ogling him." Yoongi teased

"Who is ogling?" I grumbled moving away from him and grabbing my glass of orange juice

"Oh, baby, you have all the right of ogling me." Jimin chuckled as he grabbed my hand and made me turn "We have an appointment with Doctor Kim this afternoon don't we?" he questioned

I sighed leaning against Jimin. In fact, Taehyung had sent me a text. I didn't even know where he got my number, but that wasn't important. The text was basically an appointment. A simple doctor's appointment. I had random meals with Seokjin and Yoongi and they were most of the times pleasant. I really felt like Seokjin or Jin like he asked me to call him was playing a dangerous game where I was just a gamble.

A pawn.

He hadn't failed to notice the golden band around our wrist and the lack of color of our marks as it had become black again. However, he hadn't even asked. His eyes just trailed longer than necessary on my wrist.

"I don't want to go. I haven't had a cough fit in...in a week." I stuttered as Yoongi narrowed his eyes at me

"Taehyung is the best doctor. I wouldn't have anyone else touch you or examine you." His voice wasn't looking for any argument and I raised my hands in defense

"It's not because of Taehyung. It's just that..." I didn't like being vulnerable.

"Seokjin had been searching for the seventh person if that is what is bothering you?" Jimin revealed

"I too have been looking, but nothing really stands out to me. With the 5 others it was evident, but right now I have no idea." Yoongi revealed

"That wasn't the case either, even if I'm quite curious on who the seventh person is." I whispered "I also want to get my relationship on track with Namjoon and Jungkook. Taehyung, Jimin and I are going on a cafe...outing after the appointment."

"If everything's fine." Jimin pointed out

"If everything is fine indeed." I added

We talked a while longer, but then it was time for them to go to work. A rapid kiss on the forehead and the two men were gone. I answered a few work calls before noticing that my father was calling me.

We had barely talked since the day were he actually learned about the Link.

An aberration as he said, but I didn't blame him for it.

Dad: Melody.

Mel: Papa.

Dad: We have an auction to go to as a family on Friday night. Your presence there is necessary. I will not tolerate for you not to go.

Auctions were the things I rejected the most.

Mel: I never go to auctions, what's this about?

Dad: I think that you will find what you are searching for there. I have an inkling it will be the case and that is partially the reason I require your presence there. But most importantly, you need to buy a slave at the auction. You are 20 years old and each Butterfly has bought a Non-Marked before. If they care or not for him or her, that isn't a problem. I don't truly care what you do with the said thing. However, you know it is a tradition.

Mel: ...

Dad: Friday night, 9 pm. Sharp. Don't be late.

He hung up. I sighed as I texted Blake to see if he would be there or not. I knew that he would certainly be there, but that didn't prevent me from trying to contact him. He had seen my texts, but answered none of them. I looked at the clock and it was almost lunch time. I got dressed into nice dark blue jeans and a flowy top along with a perfecto jacket. Light makeup and called for a driver.

"Prime Tech Company, please."

If my brother didn't want to talk to me, I would go talk to him.

"We arrived Miss."

I stepped outside and the guards straightened up, right away recognizing me. I stepped inside confidently as I made my way to the receptionist. She bowed her head and gave me a small smile as she told me that my brother was busy.

"I can wait for him in his lounge." I smiled

"But Miss-"

"Is there any problem?" I stopped

She opened and closed her mouth. Opposing a Butterfly wasn't going to give her a good reputation. She just guided me to the lounge and as we walked by my brother's office, I heard a voice I knew too well.

"I'm afraid to not understand your point. Mr. Kim."

"Blake, Blake, Blake." Seokjin spoke as if to a child

I froze in front of the door and shooed the receptionist away. What was Seokjin doing here? I remained in front of the door and listened to the conversation.

"You still don't understand how the world is working. Your society is soaring. Wouldn't be good for you to work for me and Namjoon? To get even more recognition? Instead of working on a deal with Min?" he pushed

Yoongi had talked about ongoing negotiations with my brother and I was glad that he didn't plan to overtake my brother's company. However, this conversation didn't exactly sound as promising.

"I want to be like my sister. I will learn from my mistakes and build a strong company. An alliance with Min Tech would allow me to learn more from people who share the same expertise as I do. Of course, you would be a wonderful ally. However, I don't think my company can use the help of the Kim companies for now." my brother politely rejected

"Your sister is not competent. Don't compare a woman to you." Seokjin spoke

I raised my head. That guy. I thought that our relationship got better.

"I don't understand why Yoongi and Jimin still allow her to work. She should just stay at home, moreover I overheard Taehyung talking about how serious her case is. Instead of making her work-"

I slammed the door open and raised an eyebrow at Seokjin. My brother was angry. Good thing.

"What should I do then? Sit prettily and greet the guests like a doll?" I smiled at Seokjin "I do not enjoy acting and comedy like you do Kim Seokjin. And I think that my lack of competence isn't really relevant as I grew my company nicely without the help of any of the big three. I must admit." I walked forward to the center of the room

"That I'm greatly amused about how shallow you are. Don't even think about intervening in my brother's company if you have other intentions." I gritted "Moreover, using my health situation to guilt rip my brother is just low. Low of you Kim Seokjin." I spat "Blake."

My brother flinched and looked at me warily. I was furious. I was downright furious and Seokjin's blank expression didn't help in any way to lighten my rage.

"I came to get you for lunch. It's already half an hour past your usual lunch time." I grabbed my brother's arm and saw Seokjin's eyes narrow

"We were talking." He hinted

"No you were corrupting him." I answered on the same tone "Don't tell me it isn't personal when you hadn't even properly heard of my brother's company before. I don't have an ounce of an interest left for you Kim Seokjin. Tell your sister that I cancel our meeting next week. I don't want anything to do with you or Namjoon who was surely the one to have that idea."

I dragged my brother outside his office and he followed. He better had.

"Sis are you angry?" he asked carefully as we sat down in a private room

"Am I?" I wondered sarcastically "It's been two weeks that those men bug you and you didn't want to worry me since I've been settling things with Yoon and Jiminie and you are asking me if I'm angry? I'm downright raging Blake Prime." I slammed my fist on the table

"Calm down, I didn't accept anything." He urged taking my hand into his

"Miss-"

"Baby are you okay?" Jimin's voice resonated past the woman

I widened my eyes as I saw him and Yoongi appear. I looked at Blake and found my culprit. This boy.

"You called them?" I snapped

"I-I did." He stuttered as I scoffed "But, it's for you sister. I didn't want to make you this upset. I know that dad also pissed you off this morning-"

"Stop." I said cutting him off "I didn't discuss that with them yet." I eyed the two men who were trying to follow what had happened

"Discuss?" Jimin wondered

"Father wants us siblings to go to the auction on Friday. It is a tradition in every Butterfly family that at 18 years old you chose a Non-Marked." My brother explained "My sister delayed it for two years using her company as an excuse."

"It wasn't as an excuse. I was truly busy." I grumbled

"Auction." Yoongi wondered and I sighed as I put my head in my hands "We weren't invited though?" he looked at Jimin for confirmation

"That's because it's not a normal auction." I mumbled "Did you have to talk about it?" I glared at my brother who shrunk "Don't think I'm forgetting what you did with the Kim. Seokjin and Namjoon might be powerful, but I'm not allowing this, your hard work, to go into their global company."

"I didn't want to either, I was signing a contract with the Min Tech Company tomorrow anyway." He groaned "But I can't just say no to Kim Seokjin, Melody. He is someone that will play a role in your future and so is Kim Namjoon. You can't just avoid them forever." He added

"I had enough of his trickery and his underhanded way to reach me." I whispered

"Blake, explain from the very beginning." Yoongi ordered as he ordered some light food for us "You have an appointment with Taehyung in two hours." He pointed "Rest and let him talk instead of scolding him."

I was about to say something, but Jimin slid a hand around my waist gently and maintained me against him. I froze for a second still not entirely used to being so close with him in a situation where other feelings were taking places.

Blake explained everything objectively from the beginning.

That's when I kept my eyes on Yoongi. His gaze was serious and he was listening. He was intensely listening to my brother. Not disregarding his words and truly paying him attention. And somehow the fact that they also cared about my family, it felt different. It made me warm inside.

"Namjoon has a twisted way of showing interest that is for sure." Jimin said startling me

"Why do you say that?" I asked curiosity getting the best of me taking another bite of my food.

"He showed interest in your brother's company. Like you said it was a trick to get you closer to him. However, I'm kind proud of him for not directly investing in your company." He said

I stopped eating.

"Showing interest?" I wondered

"That's right." Yoongi sighed "Namjoon and Seokjin have been raised just like me and Jimin: Money is the way. Power is your strength. Feelings are nothing but a hindrance. That's what Butterflies are told once they start a business.

But we received this guidance from childhood. I heard from Seokjin's sister that he had been a warm hearted kid, but was entirely crushed by his parents' expectation and the pressure of society. The way he speaks, the way he reasons, the way he thinks...All of it is calculated and planned in advance." He said

"Namjoon Hyung is even worse for that matter. His parents want excellence. They want the best." Jimin added

"They are similar to your parents Jimin." Yoongi said with a half-hearted laugh

I wanted to ask about Yoongi's parents, but something prevented me from it. Blake and I looked at each other. Our parents were different. But not in a good way. From the start, our parents told us that we weren't supposed to be born and that we were useless being.

I because of my weak health and my brother because he wasn't planned. Our father acknowledged us on a later date, when we both became CEO. We didn't receive pressure and just got pure disappointment. I didn't blame them though. I wouldn't blame them for it.

"Mel." Blake called "Stop it."

I blinked and looked at Blake who was holding my hands. I saw the nail prints on my inner palms and sighed. Blake sighed as I looked away ashamed of my behavior. Habits die hard.

"Why?" Jimin looked at my hands and tried touching them

For the first time then, I pulled away. I stood up in a hurry.

"I need some fresh air. I'll be back in a minute." I said awkwardly

Walking out the restaurant I could finally breathe. Long intakes of breathe. Panic had washed over me in mere minute. I closed my eyes leaning against a wall.

"You."

The words had been blurted out as if by mistake. I snapped my eyes open to look at Jungkook who was standing there in his running gear. Unknowingly one tear had left my eyes, but before I could brush it away, he was there. Towering above me. I froze overwhelmed by his intimidating presence, but he just brushed his thumb on my cheeks.

"Jungkook, what are you...?" Taehyung's voice made me look away from the bodyguard "Melody?" he wondered as he stepped closer

"I'm fine." I raised my hand and pushed Jungkook a bit away from me "I'm okay. Nice to see you, Taehyung. Jungkook." I greeted "Didn't expect you there."

"It's almost the time for our appointment and Yoongi Hyung sent me to fetch you. You've been outside for half an hour."

I widened my eyes at the time I hadn't noticed had passed. Childhood trauma was still clearly influencing me too much. After all this time. I was glad that I covered Blake from it.

"You look pale." Jungkook stated

"Is that the first thing you notice after avoiding me for two weeks straight?" I asked the male

"Stop being snappy." Taehyung grumbled

We walked back inside the restaurant and went to the private room. Taehyung was carrying a bag with what looked like a laptop and I kept my thoughts for myself. Blake was the first to stand and look at me. He didn't have to voice it out. I didn't want him to voice it out either. We exchanged one look and it was enough.

"Can I have an inkling of what is going on?" Taehyung asked

"No." I answered with a smile

He gave me a glare, but I could feel he was worried which wasn't half bad. Then he started talking about what was wrong with me. Seokjin and Namjoon were on video call, but I paid them no attention as Taehyung explained that my heart was weak and so on. I half listened to him and leaned against Blake. Nodding when necessary. Answering when questions were asked. Blake was tensed.

"Melody. Snap out of it. That's not you. You are not her anymore." He whispered

I blinked once, twice and looked at the males who had stopped talking and were looking at me with unreadable expressions. I sighed.

"Were you abused before?"

The question was like an ice bucket. I looked at Jungkook whose eyes were serious. I opened my mouth and at my lack of words I sighed.

"That's not it." I said simply

"But that looks exactly like it." Jungkook retorted

"Shut up." I snapped at him

"No." his eyes were golden again

Jimin made a move forward but I shook my head. If he touched me I would crumble and I wasn't weak anymore. Yoongi looked at the situation like before, observing and I didn't want to know what he was discovering looking at us like that. That was what the Min's were trained to do. Look at people-... No. Those weren't my thoughts. Those weren't...

"Does my princess need a savior?" I heard a familiar voice speak

Seokjin was smirking there in the entrance his phone in his hand. He had come over. This man as detached and as manipulative as he was, did come over. I refused to read too much into it, but from his words and his cocky actions I could understand that he was trying to entice a reaction in me. To provoke me.

"Maybe I do..." I whispered looking away from him "I have matters to settle at the company. Email me the details later Taehyung please. I'll take whatever medications you prescribe, if Jimin and Yoongi trust you, I have no fear about that."

"Sister-"

"You are currently not in a state to work Melody." Yoongi interrupted Blake

"I need time to myself. That is what I need. I need to focus on something else than being here. In this mess. With people like you"

"You said that." Tara frowned

"I said that." I whined "But Tara-"

"You have to apologize Melody. Moreover, I'm sure that they are worried about you. You didn't even go to your company, you came here." She sighed

I looked at the family home of Tara and Matteo. People I treasured. Circles who lived with the bare minimum, but were meant to each other and truly happy. Matteo had been seating there listening to my story. He had seen once what my parents put me through. He had seen once and brought me to the only warm existence I knew at the time: Tara.

"Those young men seem really worried about you." Matteo said in his grumbly voice

I bit my lips as I twirled the straw inside the homemade carrot juice. Tara ruffled my hair and I watched her continuing to knit. If I wasn't born Butterfly, nothing of that would have happened. But that thought was too guilt tripping to be present. I looked at the old couple and sighed. My emotions were clashing. My head was hurting.

"Go watch some TV. TV makes you an idiot and that is what you need right now." Matteo showed me the TV with his head

"She's asleep Sir." Matteo's voice was relaxed

"Can I...Can I see her?" Seokjin's voice was hesitant

"Bring her back home." Tara advised

I felt myself being lifted in strong arms.

"Careful Kook." Seokjin ushered

"Hyung, she's so beautiful when she's asleep." Jungkook whispered

"I can't disagree with you on the fact that she is adorable, but you are going too...we are going to wake her up. If we do, Jimin is going to kill me because I let you come instead of him." Seokjin was rambling

It was the first time I heard the flirtatious Seokjin be so...parental? Caring would be more right, but he was really talking to Jungkook just like a child.

"Young man." Matteo's voice was strong in their home "Take care of this girl for us won't you? She didn't have it easy. She's not one of those spoiled brats you see usually. So don't hurt her alright?" his warm words made my stomach warm up

"I will take care of her." Seokjin said "I may not have the best start with her, but I will."

"I also will." Jungkook spoke earnestly

I felt ourselves move and the outside air made me shiver. Jungkook's grip tightened around me and I felt him lower himself and warm hands grabbed me. Jimin. Jimin without a doubt. I waited for the car to start.

"So you'll take care of me?" I said

Jin and Jungkook flinched surprised that I was awake and I had to hold back a giggle. Those guys. I would open up to them. Eventually. I would without a fail.

Blake scolded me. He told me that I shouldn't keep everything to myself and that running wasn't eventually the answer. I sighed several times and each time I received a glare.

On the other hand, the males were all seated around the open kitchen and watching the scene with fondness. The cute little pout, the about to retort expression and the apologetic glance showed how emotions were strong in a girl like that.

Jungkook couldn't help but be fascinated.

He had watched a lot of Butterfly girls and none were like her. Interested only by power, pleasure and money, they're only desire was to own him. That's the reason why he ran away from her the first time. Much obliged and much scared that she was like the other.

That she was the ruthless girl everyone described her to be. Nonetheless, he could tell now: Melody Prime was the Antagonist of the Perfect Butterfly Lady.

"She's amazing isn't she?" Jimin whispered to Jungkook

"She's special." Namjoon nodded

"That's the reason why she is with us." Yoongi added with a smile

"Cute." Seokjin blurted louder than intended

I snapped my head towards the men and raised an eyebrow at the red ears of Jin. I raised to my feet, unable to hold on to teasing him. He nervously watched me get closer.

"What?" he grumbled

"What did you just call me Jin?" I used his name and that seemed to take him by surprise even more

"I-I..." he stuttered

"He called you cute." Jungkook pipped

I eyed Jungkook who gave me a partner smile. This guy would be a great partner. I got closer to Jin and he tried moving away, but I put my hand on either side of him blocking him. His eyes widened slightly.

"I wouldn't use cute to describe myself. Sir." I whispered in his ear

"Sweetheart, stop teasing Jin Hyung he'll get a heart attack." Jimin reached out for me

Jin still stood frozen in shock as my brother seemingly had enough of scolding me and joined us. I sat between Jimin and Taehyung and the doctor kept glancing at my hand while the conversation flowed with ease.

I glanced at him and intertwined our fingers. His eyes popped out, but he just blushed profusely and didn't utter a word. This man was cute. They were all cute. Breaking their wall, their masks was probably the best thing my childhood trauma gave me.

"Let's talk about the auction shall we?" Yoongi said

"Kookie calm down." I warned as I styled the hair of the young male

Jungkook had been fidgeting all evening. In a few day time, I had become closer with all the male. Namjoon was still a though nut to crack, but when I sat beside him, he always had a hand on my thigh or around my waist. His charismatic presence was sure something that I enjoyed greatly.

"I don't want you to go to the auction." He grumbled

Jungkook himself had been bought at an auction. However, Jungkook was raised as an elite slave. He was raised as a Non-Marked made for Namjoon and his friends. Not someone that was the amusement of high society. Making Non-Marked fight for food or their family in arena was illegal but commonly spread for Circles and Butterflies enjoyment.

The authorities couldn't do much except a few chosen one. Jungkook had been unlucky as a child and then he had been noticed and picked out. I squished his cheeks and smiled as he reached out for my nape.

Jungkook's touch were always extremely careful with me. He didn't press me as I lowered myself closer to his lips.

"Did you deserve a kiss Kook?" Yoongi's taunting voice made Jungkook release me and groan

"Do you have to always interrupt?" he snapped at the older man

"I do. Because it is so much fun." Yoongi teased

Something told me that it wasn't the only reason, but as Yoongi handed out his hand I took it with a warm smile. Yoongi was charming. A charming man who stole my heart in a matter of days. He didn't know about it. He was waiting for me to confess, because he wouldn't tell me first. That was his pride. His wish.

"You look wonderful tonight kitten." The pet name made my cheeks warm

"You are a dangerous man Yoon." I used a similar pet name and he smiled

"I wouldn't do that to a beautiful lady." He pulled me chest against chest and our lips only inches apart "I care for you." He said

That strangely sounded like something more intimate, but I pecked his lips in response and Yoongi grinned as he put a hand on my nape maintaining the contact.

"Don't hog her." Jimin whined

"Jimin..." Yoongi groaned

I walked to the pouting male and pecked his lips. His hands right away sneaked around my waist and I grinned. Sly, sly Jiminie.

"You fox." Yoongi groaned

"Mel it's time!" Blake called out

I walked together holding Jimin and Yoongi's hand as Jungkook followed from behind. He was recruited as our bodyguard during the evening. My father was talking with Namjoon and my mother exchanging greetings with Jin. Jin that looked more annoyed by the second, but his face changed as he saw me.

"Finally there." My mother hummed "You don't look to bad." She complimented

"She looks beautiful." Yoongi snapped "Just like you Madam." He eased as I tightened my grip on his hand

My mother smiled, but she wasn't stupid. She watched the golden band on my wrist and sighed. Blake rolled his eyes and it was time to say goodbye.

"Be careful." Namjoon said "If you don't feel something with anyone, then it is not a problem. I'll have a talk with our parents again if necessary."

Watchful and caring. I smiled at Namjoon and nodded as he pecked my forehead. I looked at Taehyung that would also be coming with us as my personal doctor. It had been spread through society that I was sick and that Taehyung was my doctor.

Compared to Jin and Jungkook, we hadn't exchanged as much. However, he had apologized for his asshole behavior, sincerely this time and slowly he got better. Intertwining our hands, he smiled.

"I-I...glad to be with you." He saidfaking a cough to hide his stutter

"Me too." I smiled "Now, let's get rid of this gruesome party at once."

It was revolting. I watched people buy other people and I was at the highest possibility of tired right now. I didn't want to watch that anymore. I just wanted to get rid of those old men, drooling over women and men like damn objects.

Jungkook was at the back of the room, but he hadn't left. I truly wondered how he was able to stand it while the only thing I wanted was to get out of here.

"Now, to the main event of the night. This Non-Marked is the highlight. But careful of the one who want to buy him. Bring him forward!" the announcer exclaimed

I widened my eyes seeing a male all chained up. His dark hair barely covering his eyes as he was wearing black shorts. His torso was full of scars. Gasps were heard around the room. His eyes were something else. He was glaring into the room and yanking on his chain. Like an animal.

"Hoseok. Perfect condition. Best fighter of our special nights. He won many times and is as you can see wild. But he is knowledgeable somehow: license, writing and educated. Those are all of his traits. He ran away from his previous masters thrice. His scars are his atonement. Biding starts at 1 million-"

"100 millions."

My voice came out by itself.

I had raised the flag and bid all the money planned for this kind of occasion. People were gasping, flabbergasted at the highest bid of the evening. I raised an eyebrow to the Circle announcer who announced that Hoseok was for me minutes later.

The male kept his head down and I wasn't blaming him for it. However, the feeling I had was sure and when I saw Jungkook's expression it was even more confirmed.

"You bet everything." My father grumbled

"I did." I said as we stepped out of the room "That's how you wanted me to be recognizable right? By announcing loud and proud the wealthy status of the Prime." It was a low blow but my father took no mind for it

"Lady." A guard called

I beckoned Jungkook over and while he had an unreadable expression on. It was clear that he knew Hoseok. Taehyung hadn't said a word, but I knew that just like me he had felt something. We walked back stage, where the 'prizes' were given. I recognized Hoseok right away as he stood there, fist clenched and chains still tight around him.

"Hyung..." Jungkook whispered

Hoseok's head snapped towards our direction and I was right. They knew each other. Taehyung patted Jungkook's back for him to take over his emotion and Jungkook took a sharp breath in. He couldn't show his expression right here. I walked over to the announced and he repeated his speech and how grateful he was. Hoseok was the same as before.

"As you can see, he isn't quite tame. But as you got another one, I guess that you know how to do it right Lady Prime." The announcer laughed

I couldn't laugh at that. I offered him a small smile and signed the agreement. We walked out and I was holding a chain. A CHAIN! His hands were bounded behind his back and his eyes on the floor. I looked at Jungkook and we parted from my family. My mother had to comment and had to say her mind, but I just wanted to go home.

The ride home was silent for a long time.

"Is that your owner?" Hoseok's voice sounded rough and he was obviously not talking to me

"No." Jungkook shook his head "Melody's-"

"You call a Butterfly by their name?" Hoseok widened his eyes lightly

"Listen" Taehyung sighed "I think that we have all to talk. Together. We aren't one to exploit Non-Marked. Kookie has been a friend for a long time now." Taehyung spoke "I'm not asking you to understand right now, but give us a bit of time."

Hoseok was quiet and I kept looking at my laps. I looked at the chain in my hand and another urge to puke.

As soon as we arrived to our doorstep, I ran to the kitchen, the bathroom too far and vomited all my stomach had held since morning. Taehyung had followed me and patted my back. Silence was in the room as I coughed and calmed myself down.

"Master" Hoseok called out

I flinched and looked at Hoseok and right away his eyes became golden. He widened his eyes not understanding what was happening to him and looked around. I sighed and took a shaky breath in.

"Don't call my master." I said "Please." I added

He widened his eyes as he looked at me and back at Jungkook who was unlocking his chains and his collar. This was disgusting. How could human being do this thing to one another? I was pulled into a warm embrace as I felt my tears burn into my eyes.

"It's okay sweet girl. It's okay." Jin rocked me as he whispered reassuring words

I saw Namjoon take Hoseok aside, Jungkook by his side. Hoseok listened to everything carefully and Jungkook told him about his own experience. Hoseok truly looked confused. He looked confused and tired. He looked like he had been hit by a truck.

Tara had come and she gently pulled me away from Seokjin, something he allowed. This night had been something else. I wasn't entirely sure what was going to follow this night.

How our relationship would grow? But I would strive. Try harder. Make this world right.

Author's note:

That is the first part of Rank. Tell me what you think. Again a different genre and a ot7. How do you think Hoseok will deal with being linked to a Butterfly? What is his past with Jungkook.

Stay safe and Purple you people.

(Wish me luck on my exams (crying inside))!
