|Creeping in the shadows|
Going back to Seoul changed a lot of things, for one Chanyeol seemed to be fine with her sister being her new boss, Taehyung is acting way too suspicious and Jennie has Lisa Manoban's number on her speed dial while Jisoo and Chaeyoung are still on shaky grounds.
Chaeyoung decides to go back to work - it's not like her investigation is heading anywhere and her work is piling up besides Jisoo is keeping herself busy with work too, it's like there's a civil war between them and it's derailing her investigation
Lisa comes in her office instead of meeting in the cafe, she takes one look at Chaeyoung and she shakes her head, "Just tell her"
The lawyer gives her a glare, "Trust me - it's better this way"
"I don't think so - you look like a zombie who just wants to die"
"Zombies are dead"
"Exactly" Lisa proves her point
Chaeyoung exhales loudly, all of this is driving her crazy. Of course she can't tell Jisoo - her bestfriend, her partner, her fiance and technically speaking her wife - what she's going through because no matter how much she rephrase it or whatever - saying that she's 9 days from the future to solve her murder case and that she ran out of suspects which is why she's pinning on Taehyung, her brother. She groans when she hears it in her head.
"What's so hard about this? just tell her" Lisa is getting frustrated too, "Think of me as Ms. Kim and then tell me that someone is trying to kill me"
Chaeyoung stares at the detective undecided whether to punch her in the face or actually go with the suggestion, "Okay, fine" She relents
"Great!" Lisa smiles
"Jisoo, you died - 9 days from now you died-"
Lisa falters for a moment, "That's not-"
"And some crazy dude who happened to be the angel of death brought me back 14 days from when you died to save you and solve your future murder. I ran out of suspects so I think Taehyung - the brother you love and cherish and trust is the one that killed you" Chaeyoung paused to think about it before adding, "In the future - 9 days from now"
Lisa Manoban's mouth hangs open, her eyes wide. She's working for a crazy woman
"And the Angel of death is Korean - weirdly" She continues to ramble on, "So?" Chaeyoung asks Lisa
"You're - uh... You're crazy"
"Trust me, it feels like that sometimes" Chaeyoung laughs but it was hollow, "So what do you say detective Manoban? How do you think Jisoo will react to that"
Lisa faltered at the serious look on the lawyer's face - she was once one of the best detectives in the big city of New York and she knows when someone is lying - it scares her that she can't see any traces of lying on Chaeyoung's face.
"Fine - I'll play this game as your P.I." She exhales not quite believing what came out of the lawyer's mouth, "If you are from the future as you claimed then you must know something that we can use - tell me about the scene"
Chaeyoung closed her eyes trying to remember anything from the scene, "Jisoo...she was about to leave the office - no, wait. She did leave the office and went to get coffee from the cafe across her building and then a car came out of nowhere after she left the cafe"
"Plate number?"
"There was no plate - the driver was wearing a ski mask which is the main reason why we knew it was a murder and not an accident"
"If you don't mind - how did...Ms. kim you know"
"The cafe owner called the ambulance but the impact was way too strong that her ribs punctured her lungs - she died 3 minutes before the ambulance arrived"
"I'm sorry" Lisa feels weird for apologizing for a murder that haven't happened yet but the pain in Chaeyoung's face made it feel more weird for not apologizing
"Don't be, technically it didn't happen yet"
"And that happens when? 9 days from now? from the coffee shop we used to meet"
"Yep"
"Why, Taehyung? according to Jennie - Ms. Kim have a good relationship with her brother"
Chaeyoung raised an eyebrow, "Jennie? since when did you know Jennie Kim?"
"Since Japan" Lisa shrugs
"Ah, so I'm guessing she wrote and I quote, "Chanyeol Park seething in anger as her baby sister named as the next chairman and his future boss" in the gossip column of the business magazine she works on"
Lisa smiles sheepishly, "She might've said something about your brother being a big baby and she needs a story - it's either that or Taehyung being with Jungkook the whole night"
"She could've written about the 50 million dollars donated to child care facilities" Chaeyoung points out
"Yeah, whatever - but from what she said it seems to me that your brother is honestly more of a suspect than Taehyung Kim"
Chaeyoung shrugs dismissively, "Sure since we're already here - let's throw out the fact that we're family. What would my brother want from Jisoo - enough to kill her"
"Did you ask that same question about Taehyung? cause it seems to me you just jumped ship"
"First of all ouch - and I'm being objective as much as I can, if Jisoo dies - Taehyung gets the corporation and that's a billion dollar corporation"
"Yeah but according to Jennie, he doesn't even want to be in the business scene"
"He doesn't have to be - if he becomes chairman he's set for life"
Lisa hums not missing a beat, "Correct if I'm wrong but aren't they already set for life whether or not they work for their parents? The Kim's are old money I'm pretty sure all four of them combined is worth way more than that corporation"
Chaeyoung hates that the detective has a point, "Yeah but what about Chanyeol? what does he have to gain in killing Jisoo?"
"I don't know - hurt you?"
Chaeyoung chuckles, "I've known my brother since forever and he's not the type to do emotional damage - if he wanted to be Chairman he'd kill me and as much as a jealous asshole he is like everyone seems to think he's wouldn't do that to me"
"And you think Taehyung could do that? To her own sister?"
"No! of course not, Which is why I'm so frustrated about this"
"So...Jisoo dies 9 days from now?" Lisa asks again
Chaeyoung mindlessly said yes but she paused for a moment to think, "NO! there was one week for mourning and it took me almost two days to respond to death-" she looks at Lisa, "She dies today"
With that in mind, both her and Lisa jumps off their chairs and race down to the parking lot where their cars are. The lawyer is pretty sure she broke the speed limit twice before she parked hastily and slammed the elevator keys - once she was on Jisoo's office floor Chaeyoung runs to find her, Lisa following closely behind her
She takes an abrupt halt when she sees Jisoo in her office, looking like she always does when she's working - stoic and calm. She walks hastily to the office without as much as knock practically barging in and pulling Jisoo into a hug
The CEO barely had time to register Chaeyoung was there before she was pulled into a bone crushing hug, she looks over at the private investigator that seemed to be out of breath silently asking if anything happened - Lisa shakes her head no
"Are you okay?" she asks Chaeyoung cupping her reddened face in her hands - "Did something happen?"
"No" Chaeyoung cries out and buries her face on Jisoo's neck
"Are you sure?" The CEO was getting worried, Chaeyoung rarely cries if it doesn't involve good food, "This is the second time you cried this week"
The lawyer sniffles, "Yeah - I'm...I'm just happy you're here"
Jisoo laughs, "This is my office, of course I will be here" and right after she says that her door opens revealing an unknown man - well unknown to her
Beside her Chaeyoung's eyes widen, this is the first time she's seeing Death since their deal.
"Oh. Sorry for intruding your secretary said I should just enter" Death says in a cool tone - not the same grim one she used on Chaeyoung
"Mr. Kwon - please sit down, I'm just...uh" Jisoo fails to finish her sentence because Chaeyoung shamelessly stared at the guy
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Chaeyoung asks and Jisoo almost fell over
"Chaeyoung"
"Oh - I know him" the lawyer says, she looks at Lisa and motions at the guy.
"You do?" Jisoo asks
Chaeyoung ignores her, "I'll be going - you better not try anything funny" she tells the guy who was just grinning at her.
Jisoo gets a whiplash on how fast Chaeyoung changes her mood - that and her confusion on what just happened. "I'm sorry about that" Jisoo says to Mr. Kwon after Chaeyoung and Lisa left
"No - worries. Although I'm confused about what just happened"
The CEO chuckles and blows out a deep breath, "Yeah - me too"

"Who was that?" Lisa asks as they were outside
"That was death - angel of death, Azrael but he goes with the name Kwon Ji-yong"
"I'll bet" Lisa snorts not believing a word she just said
"No - for real, that is death"
"I don't know - he seemed like a normal dude to me"
"That normal dude sent me back 14 days to the past by just drinking coffee"
"Okay, fine but what do we do now?"
"Oh - we're not leaving we're gonna sit our ass down in that coffee shop where Jisoo is supposed to die and we're gonna stop that from happening"

While Chaeyoung and Lisa are going over other details of the future murder of Jisoo Kim - Taehyung Kim is being followed by unknown fellow and was even photographed entering a car - a 1963 classic Aston Martin DB5.
Way later Jennie Kim frowns as she was developing the pictures she took of Taehyung entering a car driven by an unknown guy. She knows this car from somewhere but she can't pinpoint the memory

"Okay - we have the place of the murder and the time but those are tangible since we already passed the time of the murder should take place - so...what's the brand of the car?'"
Chaeyoung takes a sip of her coffee as she sees death with Jisoo just outside the coffee shop 30 minutes after Jisoo was supposed to die. "It was a custom 1963 Aston Martin BD5"
Lisa coughs violently as she chokes on her coffee, being a car enthusiast herself. "that's the car that killed Ms. Kim"
"Now that I think of it - Jimin Park or his crew have no resources to get that car and I know exactly two people who has that kind of access to cars like that"
"Who?"
"One of them is my fiancé - guess the other one. I'll go ahead" Chaeyoung says and stands up, her face saying that she has one suspect and she is more than 100% convinced that he did it
Lisa knew what the lawyer was thinking but her guts keeps on telling her it wasn't right. One thing she learned about being a detective is that evidence doesn't always point to the right guy.
