Chapter Twenty-Two
Huh?
"Beg me."
You see I wanted to have sex but there was no way I would 'beg' for it, especially not with Vladamir. I turned around so I could see his face. As usual he had a smug look on his face and his eyes sparkled with lust.
"Yeah, no. I don't think so." I pushed his chest softly and he stepped back.
"No?"
"Nope. I'm not going to beg you." I crossed my arms and his eyes darted down to my chest. Typical.
"Hmm, I see."
I had anticipated a different reaction from him than the one I got. Instead of arguing or pushing for it he simply shrugged and moved away. "Goodnight Leanne."
"Good night?" I whispered as he walked away from me. My body was still hot and in dire need of being touched.
I needed to stop being so horny all the time!
The sound of my phone vibrating pulled me out of my dirty thoughts and I grabbed my phone. Skimming through the messages, I saw some messages from a couple of group chats, a message from Nina wanting to catch up and a message from my mum.
I fired a text to Nina letting her know that I would see her tomorrow and told my mum I would do the same. I also informed her that we would be having a guest over, I knew my parents wouldn't stop pestering me until they officially met Vladamir. If he hadn't turned up that day when I dropped off my documents I wouldn't have bothered to do this but since he decided to be a pain and interfere in my life, I had no choice.
After a few months, I'll just tell them that we broke up and hopefully by then I'll have my own place. I knew Vladamir wouldn't be on board with me moving out but it's not like I could stay with him forever. Well- eighty odd years in my case.
I was aware that he had enemies, he probably had too many to count however I couldn't put my life on hold for his actions. It's a good idea to stay with him now because a) I'm broke and b) I had no idea how my life will change now that he's marked me.
It would probably be a good idea to read the family book he sent me and delve deeper into his past. I barely knew anything about it, now that I think about it I knew nothing about him at all. Other than his name and that he's a psycho Lycan there was nothing else I could say I knew about him.
A psycho Lycan that you've been fucking.
I grimaced at my thoughts, what we were doing was risky and I couldn't help but shake the feeling that by the end of it all I would be the one that would be hurt by this the most.

The following morning I woke up feeling a little under the weather and completely horrified at myself. I thought back to the night before and remembered the stranger that Vladamir had killed. Yes the guy was a creep but that didn't mean he deserved to die and what made the situation worse was how easily I had forgotten about that when Vladamir was touching me.
Whenever I would watch a movie or TV series, I would despise the girl who forgive what her toxic partner did. They always made excuses or justified their actions and at times forgot the horrific things they did. I swore I would never be one of those girls, I would call people out on their bullshit but here I was completely forgetting that he killed a man and wanting to fuck him.
There was something wrong with me. Maybe it was the mate bond, it had to be that. I didn't want to believe that I was changing into one of those girls that I used to cringe at.
After I had showered and looked somewhat presentable, I grabbed a crisp before heading over to Nina's place. I hadn't seen Vladamir since last night and I was happy about that. I did however send him a text to let him know that we were going to go over to my parent's house for dinner. There was no response and I didn't bother to follow up with another message.
Once I arrived in front of Nina's house, I got out of the car and brushed the crisp crumbs off my clothes. The place was still heavily guarded by Shifters and Werewolves even though nothing had happened since Nina had given birth. The radical Werewolves had seemed to calm down afterwards when they realised that it's just a baby.
I barely rang the doorbell when the door flew open and someone grabbed me.
"Hi Leah, god I've missed you." Nina's voice was comforting to hear and I wrapped my arms around her.
"I saw you a few days ago." I reminded her as I pulled away and entered the house.
"I know we did but everyone was here and I didn't get the chance to actually talk to you." We headed over to the living room which was unsurprisingly filled with baby toys.
"Where's Riya?" My eyes wandered over to the empty bassinet. I wasn't a huge fan of babies but it was different with Riya, maybe it was because she was Nina's baby? That would explain why I don't think 'hell no' every time I see her like I do with other babies.
"She's upstairs with Gabriel. She's been a little fussy today, I'll bring her down later." Nina took in a huge deep breath and stared at me dramatically. "Tell me everything! What is going on with you and Vladamir? I still can't believe he marked you."
"Where do I even start?" I muttered as I laid down on the sofa. Nina was waiting patiently however her eyes and body gave it away, she was desperate to hear what happened between.
"Well, it all started the night you ditched me." I sent her a mock glare to which she smiled sheepishly at me.
"Sorry, it was the first time I had been away from Riya for so long."
I waved my hand dismissing her apology. This wasn't Nina's fault, she had done nothing wrong. The blame was on both me and Vladamir. I briefly explained what happened that night, skimming over the details and then going over everything that happened since then including the fake kidnapping, buying my house, moving in with him and also sleeping with him.
"Is it the bond? What is wrong with me?" Hearing back everything that had happened, it sounded way worse than it did when I thought about it. After hearing my own words I was horrified at both of our actions.
"Yeah." Nina whispered sympathetically. She had remained quiet throughout all of it, listening to every word carefully. "It makes you feel things you've never felt before and also makes you want to be around them. It's like a drug, the one that makes you lose your mind but simultaneously makes you feel good."
"Well that's shit." I grumbled. "Vladamir thinks he can break the bond, he said-"
"That's not possible." Nina interrupted me. "It could have been possible when he first bit you but then you consummated the bond and he marked you again. You can't undo that."
"I don't feel any different. I'm still human, maybe we can still break the bond? I can't be stuck with him forever." I hadn't told her that he planned on killing me after I had 'lived my life'. I knew she would freak out and panic.
"It was like that with me too, I didn't feel any different. I just felt stronger and had weird cravings but that's probably because I was pregnant." Nina let out a short laugh before stopping abruptly. "Wait, you've been having sex with him."
"Yeah don't remind me." I grimaced, don't get me wrong I enjoyed everything about it but I shouldn't have teased and encouraged him. Now that I was away from him I was remembering how much of an arse he was and why I disliked him so much.
"Did you use a condom?" Nina was low as if she was telling me a secret.
"Yeah, I think so." My voice was slow as I was unsure about what she was getting at.
"Every single time?"
"Yea-" I stopped as I thought back to that night. I remember him putting on a condom, he opened the packet with his teeth and I remember how my horny brain thought it was hot even though every single sex education lesson we were told not to open the packet with your teeth. What I couldn't remember was if he used one for the other rounds.
"I'm on the pill and I take it consistently." I now knew what Nina was getting at but there was no way I was pregnant.
Nina stared at me with wide eyes. "Dr Montogomery told me that the pills most likely won't work with mated couples."
"What?" I screeched as I stood up from the sofa. "What do you mean they most likely won't work? Why won't they work?"
"I can't remember exactly what she said, Lycan sperm is a lot more...stronger than human sperm. The best option is to wear condoms or pull out."
"You're joking right? How is that even possible? Plus aren't all of them infertile, if they could reproduce they would have hundreds of kids by now, they've been alive for centuries!"
"Why would you think they're all infertile? Gabriel and I had a child remember." Nina looked worried and it was starting to freak me out.
"Be-because they've been alive for so long and none of them have had any kids. Victoria- may she rest in peace- was obsessed with babies. If they could have kids she would have had so many by now. That's a lot easier than stealing them."
"I think you should sit down." Nina pulled my arm gently and I did what she said. "It's hard for them to reproduce but it's not impossible. Whether you both wanted it or not Vladamir marked and mated you, your bodies are more compatible now."
To say I was annoyed would be a huge understatement. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and I couldn't believe Vladamir didn't mention any of this. I may not know Vladamir well but I knew he didn't want children and frankly that was a good thing considering what a nutcase he is. The poor child would be traumatised for life if Vladamir was its dad.
"Urgh, as if things couldn't get worse. I guess if we continue our...arrangement we'll make sure we're protected."
Nina suddenly gasped and grabbed my hands. "The prophecy."
"What?"
"Do you remember what Alexander said? About the prophecy?"
I nodded. "Bits of it. That was one lame prophecy, I expected something better."
"What if it's true? What if Alexander is right?"
I rolled my eyes. I couldn't remember exactly what Alexander had said but I knew it was nothing worth paying attention to. From the way everyone reacted they thought the same too, not one Lycan was interested in what Alexander had said.
"Things are changing." Nina continued ignoring the face I was making. "First Vladamir marks and mates you and now Luca is being strange. He met someone a few months ago and something is going on."
"Luca?" I questioned, not bothering to hide the disbelief in my voice. "I don't think he's going to mate with anyone ever, he's still in love with his mate."
"That's what I thought! But then I overheard him talking to Gabriel about how he can't stay away from her! Okay so you and Vladamir getting together I admit is very random and unexpected but there was a chance of something happening but there never was with Luca yet he's met someone who he can't stay away from!"
Nina was getting too excited with this, her eyes were twinkling and she sort of looked like a crazy person. "Alexander was right, one by one the Lycans will starting mating with someone and reproducing."
"Honestly, I think it's just a coincidence. I-"
"I think you're pregnant!" Nina yelled so loudly that she almost burst my eardrums.
"What the fuck? No I'm not." Jeez couldn't a girl put on a few pounds without everyone thinking she's pregnant? Maybe I should go on a diet?
"It's a possibility and the prophecy-"
"Oh my god, enough about the prophecy! It's not real."
"Fine, then take a pregnancy test." Nina challenged as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"I'm not taking a pregnancy test, I'm not pregnant!"
"Well let's find out. Why are adamant about not taking one? Is it because deep down you know it's true?"
Staring at my crazy friend in front of me, I shook my head. I knew some people get a little depressed after they have a baby but is it possible that they also lose their mind too? Maybe I should talk to Gabriel about this? When she was pregnant she was diagnosed with depression, after everything she went through I'm surprised she didn't completely lose it so maybe it's catching up with her now?
"Why are you looking at me as if I've lost the plot?"
That's because you have!
Suddenly a scary thought crept into my head.
What if she's right?
