Sun was playing with the kids, noticing (y/n) coming and going every so often, and wondering when they were gonna get started with work the next day. The kids were surprisingly attached to Sun today and it confused him as to why but brushed it off as being just another day.
Sun. Moon interrupted.
Yes Moon? Sun responded.
Where did (y/n) go?
This thought lingered with sun, where did they go? The minute Sun had his eyes off of the children, they greedily pulled him back towards them, wanting his attention all for themselves. Time seemed to move slower than normal, with Sun's thoughts being flooded with an over awareness for (y/n).
Just then, Sun had a creeping feeling something wasn't quite right. Something was off and he didn't like it, as he stared at the quite part of the daycare. The kids were unrelenting with wanting his attention, so much so that he wasn't sure what to do.
Moon? What should I do? Something doesn't feel right. He thought.
Just keep the kids busy, they really want your attent- Moon paused.
Moon mumbled a small curse, but even if the children couldn't hear, Sun chastised him for his language in the daycare. Moon figured it all out, the reason why the children were relentless today, and why everything was odd. It explained the weird feeling in both of their minds.
Sun, we need to go find them. You need to find (y/n) now! Moon said seriously.
Sun came to a sudden realization of what was happening, the test had started and he failed to realize that the children were in on it. So he gathered all the children in a circle, and sat at their level.
"Alrighty kiddos, settle down, it's time for naptime!" Sun exclaimed.
All of the kids groaned with disapproval and began walking to go get their spots for naptime. But before they could Sun ushered them back in to whisper to them quietly.
"Are you guys hiding something from us?" He asked.
Some heads tilted as if confused and some looked shocked that Sun knew what was going on. Bingo! (y/n) got help from the kids.
That's a little too lifelike of a situation, but it fits the training... Moon commented quietly.
Sun agreed, it was very lifelike, and it was perfect scenario for what would possibly go on in the future. The longer he sat in that one spot, the longer (y/n) was where ever they were.
Moon. I'm going to handle the rest of getting the kids ready for naps, can you go look for (y/n) after the lights are off? Sun asked.
Sigh. Alright. Just hurry up. Moon exclaimed.
Sun hurriedly got all of the makeshift beds and blankets and handed them out to all of the children, and seeing as they got settled quickly, he walked over to the lights.
"Mr. Sun?" A kid asked.
"Yes?" He responded worried.
"Please find (y/n) quickly."
"I- We will, I promise."
With that Sunny made his way to the light switch and said a small good night before flicking off the lights. Moon made his entrance and blinked his eyes a couple times before thinking about all the places that the upset kids would run to first. He checked all around the play areas or areas that the kids didn't venture to very often. Getting a little more frustrated with all the places you weren't hiding in, he finally figured that the jungle gym was where you had gone.
Moon started with the left side, making sure to go through every slide, tunnel, and floor scanning the area for where you could be. He was grateful now for his night vision, as it allowed him to see into the darkest areas of the gyms. After the left side was thoroughly checked, he began worrying more. You had been alone for so long now.
Moon, you're getting frustrated, you need to calm down... Sunny chimed.
He sighed, Sun was right, he needed to calm down before interacting with you. You would be freaked out if he approached you that way. Glancing up from his spot he looked at the right side jungle gym, just one more to go. He started at the top of the structure, weaving his way through the maze of plastic, slowly making his way down. Moon reached the bottom floor and was able to pick up the sound of sniffling, quiet but sure. He started faster towards the sound, hearing his bells jingling as he tried to find (y/n).
He rounded one last corner and caught a glimpse of (y/n) seemingly running away from Moon, and they seemed super panicked. Moon decided to follow them, bells jingling along the way.
Moon they seem scared. Sun said.
I know, but why? Moon replied.
Do a scan, check their vitals. Moon, I don't think they're acting anymore.
"(y/n)?" Moon called out, with no answer.
Moon followed Sun's advice and did a scan. Normally they weren't allowed to do it unless there was an emergency, but this, this was an emergency in their eyes. When the scan finished doing its thing, Moon and Sun both gasped in surprise.
Hyperventilation, BPM; 115, tears, panicked... Sun said slowly.
Moon slowed to a stop to register what he just learned. This was a serious matter, this wasn't an act anymore. He started again to go after (y/n), realizing that the sound of his bells may not be helping, but there wasn't any time to do anything about it. Suddenly, there was a loud thud and the sound of someone shifting away, the situation has become more dire. (y/n) fell, and couldn't get up and start running again. Worry overtook Moon, and all he could think about was making it to (y/n).
Once he made it, he took in how bad the situation was. (y/n) was shivering, gasping for air like they couldn't get any in the first place, and crying heavily in a corner. He took one step closer to them, but stopped immediately after they freaked out even more.
"P-please, no n-no, d-d-don't .. hurt me." They struggled.
"(y/n), I won't hurt you, I promise." Moon tried.
He took another step and they let out a struggled yelp as if Moon was someone else.
Moon. They aren't seeing us. Sun realized.
What do you mean 'they aren't seeing us'? We're right here! Moon exclaimed.
Not like that, Moon (y/n) is not stable enough to see us. They are reliving an experience.
It clicked. Moon stopped trying to make an advance and sat down in the gym, thinking of the best way to calm (y/n) down. The thought occurred that they loved to listen to Moon's lullaby, the one he uses for the kids all the time when they have a hard time falling asleep or wake up from a bad dream. So he began hummin out the tune and working his way to the song as he noticed (y/n) starting to calm down.
"Welcome to wonderland, we've got it all.." He started.
"Potions and pastries that make you grow tall."
"Forests and cottages, castles and cards that can talk."
(y/n) seemed to be calming down, slowly bringing them back to the world they currently lived in. Their crying stopped and they became focused on the song.
"Welcome to wonderland look where you're at,"
Moon noticed (y/n) coming back, looking at him with puffy eyes and losing all tension from before.
"Maddest of hatters, the Cheshire cat,"
(y/n) moved closer to where Moon was sat, sitting now in front of him and shaking slightly still and heart rate slowly climbing down from its adventure.
"Magical cabins and lovely white rabbits with clocks,"
Moon noticed their eyes softening, relaxing with the tune. He opened his arms, inviting them to sit with him. They hesitated at first but accepted the offer, climbing onto and sitting in Moon's lap with their face placed against his chest and arms wrapped around his metallic body. He leaned his face in a way to imitate a kiss to the top of (y/n)'s head and wrapping his arms around you protectively as he continued.
"Dancing through a dream underneath the stars,"
"Laughing till the morning comes.." (y/n) finished before drifting into a calm sleep.
Moon, sighing, mumbles a small apology towards them for taking so long to get to them. And slowly he carried you out of the cramped space of the jungle gym and hoisted himself up to the balcony of his and Sun's room.

||Soooooooo, how did you like my angst?? I plan on the next chapter being back to normal like what I did before. I quite liked how this chapter turned out.
