Every two days, one of the cats who knew the secret would go and visit Half Moon's den, hidden in the deepest part of the forest.
Two moons passed and all was peaceful, then one day Redpelt exploded into camp, then Jayfeather and Silversplotch left.
Half Moon lay on her side, panting. Her vision was hazy, but she saw Jayfeather and Silversplotch approach her. Jayfeather slammed his front paws down on her belly, and as Half Moon cried out, her first kit was born.
Again Jayfeather pushed her stomach and again Half Moon shrieked in pain as a tiny bundle slipped out.
Her last kit slipped out easily, small and wet.
"Wow, they're beautiful," whispered Half Moon, next to her, Jayfeather's whiskers twitched as he felt his kits.
"I think I'll name this one Eaglekit, because he has a gray eagle shaped mark on his right foreleg." murmured Half Moon.
"And this kit will be Fluffkit, for his fluffy pelt," announced Jayfeather.
"Can I name the last one?" asked Silversplotch tentatively.
Half Moon nodded and Silversplotch named the last kit Snowkit, for her snowy white pelt.
