☞︎ THIRD-PERSON POV ☜︎

Mrs. Moskowitz then grabbed y/n's hand and pulled her into the kitchen.

"Is your uncle home? Let's invite him over too!" Mrs. Moskowitz said. "No, he's probably still working. Besides, he's usually too tired to do anything after work." Y/n chuckled lightly, and so did Eli's mother.

"I feel that." She said, pulling out a pan from the oven. "Speaking of work, my husband should be home from work any minute now."

Mrs. Moskowitz took a stack of plates from out of the cabinet and turned towards y/n. "Honey, do you mind setting these on the table for me?" She asked, holding out the stack towards y/n. "I don't mind at all!" She responded.

"Oh, wait!" Mrs. Moskowitz exclaimed. She jogged over and grabbed the appropriate silverware for the meal. "Bring these over too?" She asked, placing them on top of the stack of plates. Y/n nodded, before walking over to start setting the dining table.

While the ladies were setting up for dinner downstairs, Eli was upstairs getting ready for dinner.

Eli had taken his shower, washing the sweat and stink he acquired from practice today. Now he was in his room getting dressed. Except... he couldn't decide what to wear.

He's tried on 5 different shirts, 3 different pairs of pants... He would look at the clothes on himself for a few seconds, before deciding it didn't look good.

"Come on, Eli! It's just dinner!" Eli spoke to himself quietly. He pulled off his shirt and put a new one on again. He shook his head and pulled it off again.

"Just wear what you usually wear!" He said to himself again. He looked into his closet, his eyes scanning over all his clothes. "What do I usually wear?"

He took out another shirt and pulled it on over his head. He looked in the mirror for a moment, before letting out a quiet groan. He didn't want to let anyone know about the dilemma he's having while trying to find something to wear.

"This shouldn't be this hard!" He frustratedly whispered. He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he knew why he couldn't decide on an outfit. It was because she was there. He wanted to impress her.

"Eh, fuck it." He said, walking to the door, leaving on the last shirt he put on. He opened his door and took one step out, before stopping in his place. He stood there for a moment, thinking, before he ran over to his dresser and changed his shirt one last time. Then, he finally made his way to the kitchen.

Y/n and Mrs. Moskowitz finished setting the table for dinner. Mr. Moskowitz had arrived home from work about 10 minutes ago. Now, the three of them were sitting at the dinner table, waiting for Eli.

☞︎ Y/N'S POV ☜

"My goodness, where is this boy..." Mrs. Moskowitz wondered, before Eli turned the corner into the dining room. "Well thanks for deciding to finally join us." Mrs. Moskowitz said to Eli.

"Sorry! Sorry!" He exclaimed, sliding into the available seat next to me. "What took you so long?" His mother asked. "I was, uh..." he hesitated to find the right words.

"Well I was..." he looked at me for a quick moment. Everyone had their eyes on him, waiting to hear his explanation. It was silent at the table for a moment, before Eli spoke up again.

"Wow, mom, this food smells delicious! I'm hungry. Let's eat!" Eli said in a quick jumble, trying to change the subject. He grabbed one of the bowls that sat on the table and started scooping some food onto his plate. "Well said, son. Well said." Eli's father agreed, digging into the food as well.

Mrs. Moskowitz and I scooped some food onto our plates as well. Everyone started taking bites of their food.

"Eli, y/n..." Mrs. Moskowitz said, grabbing the attention of Eli and I. We both looked over to her. Mrs. Moskowitz looked to her husband, then back to us. "We are so happy that you two are back together again." She said.

Eli and I looked over to each other awkwardly, then looked back to Eli's parents. We both opened our mouths to speak, but Mrs. Moskowitz kept talking.

"You two are just so cute together." She continued. "Mrs. Moskowitz, we're not-" I started, pointing between Eli and I. "Oh, don't be so humble, Dear." She waved me off.

"Mom." Eli said, trying to get her to stop. "He always talks about you. The boy is head over heels!" She smiled, looking at me.

"Mom!" Eli demanded loudly, causing his mom to stop talking this time. The table went quiet all around. "We're not together." Eli told her.

Mrs. Moskowitz looked between Eli and I for a moment. She gave an understanding nod, now focusing her attention on the food in front of her. I looked down to my lap in embarrassment.

This dinner is turning into something worse than a disaster...

The next several minutes went by in silence, with only the occasional sound of silverware hitting against the ceramic dinner plates.

"Eli, can you pass the salt, please?" I asked quietly, breaking the silence. He nodded and reached for the salt. He brought the salt to me without looking in my direction. He didn't watch where he was going, and ended up knocking my plate of food off of the table.

The plate didn't fall on the floor, though. It fell right in my lap, smearing the food all over my clothes. I gasped, not expecting it.

"Shit-" Eli cursed. He stood from his chair and lifted the plate off my lap. "I am so sorry, y/n..." Eli apologized. Eli's parents watched the situation unfold. I scooped chunks of food from off my pants and shirt and put it back on the plate.

"Come here." He said, putting his hands in mine and pulling me up off the chair. He pulled me out of the dining room and up to his bedroom.

"Holy. Fuck." He exclaimed as we entered his room.

His room was a mess. He had clothes laying around everywhere.

"I am so sorry about my mom. She gets so excited sometimes, it's like she doesn't just think things through..." he explained.

"Sounds like someone else I know..." I teased. He playfully glared at me.

"I hope those clothes weren't too important. I just didn't want to be there any longer..." he said, before he walked over to his dresser. "Wait... so you meant to pour that food all over me?" I asked.

He pulled out a shirt and comfortable pants from his dresser. "Yep." He confirmed, walking over to me. He held out the clothes to me, but I just stared at them, before looking back up to him. "You're not mad, are you?" He asked.

"Eli," I said, grabbing the clothes from his hands. "You're a genius! God bless you and your brilliant mind."

He chuckled. "I'll let you change in here. I'll wait outside. Then, I'll help sneak you out of here." He said. "Yes, please." I spoke.

He left the room and waited outside the door. I changed quickly and met him outside his room again.

He looked me up and down. "Nice getaway outfit." He smirked. "Thanks." I smirked back, smoothing out the creases from the clothes. "Let's get you out of here." He whispered.

We started walking quietly down the hallway and towards the stairs. "Ironic, isn't it? You used to be sneaking me in." I whispered. He chuckled lightly and looked left and right.

We snuck to the front door and quietly left through it. We let out breaths of relief once we made it out.
"Thanks again, Eli." I thanked.

"No problem." He replied. "Y/n, can we just... forget this whole night?" Eli asked.

"Absolutely." I nodded.

"Alright. Good... Perfect." He said.

"So... I'll see you tomorrow for Miyagi-Do training?" I asked, taking a few steps backwards towards my car. "Of course. Tomorrow should be... interesting..." Eli said.

"That's for sure." I chuckled. We stood staring at each other in silence for a moment. "Ok, bye, Eli." I said. "See ya." He replied.

I walked to my car and got in. I turned it on and looked over to Eli's house. Eli and I exchanged one last glance, before I drove away.

The drive back to my apartment complex was normal, quiet. I kept thinking about how terrible the night had been. Mrs. Moskowitz really didn't hold back...

I pulled up to my complex and exited my car. I walked through the courtyard and towards my apartment, when I heard another door open. I looked towards the sound and saw Miguel.

"Y/n! Where were you? I thought we were gonna watch the new episode!" He exclaimed, referring to a show we like to watch together. "Oh my god, Miguel, you wouldn't believe my night. Believe me, I much rather would've been here." I told him.

"Oh, I have to hear this... What happened?!" He asked, encouraging me to continue. "I'll tell you in a minute. I'll be right back." I said, opening my front door. I wanted to drop off my dirty,
food-covered clothes before I explain the catastrophe that was my night.

I entered my apartment to see Uncle Bucky making something in the kitchen. He looked over to me. "Hey, Bug." He said, before looking back down to whatever he was making. "Hi." I said, jogging to my room. I put my dirty clothes in with the rest of my dirty laundry.

I left my room again and made my way back to the front door. Before I could leave the apartment, Uncle Bucky spoke, "Where were you tonight?"

"I was just... having dinner with Eli." I replied.

"Eli? Eli Moskowitz?" He asked, squinting his eyes and furrowing his eyebrows.

"Yeah." I stated, but it sounded more like a question. "Hmm." He huffed. "Are you wearing his clothes?" Uncle Buck asked.

I looked down to my outfit, then back up to him. "Why are you asking so many questions?" I asked defensively. He stared at me for a moment, before shaking his head and turning back around, continuing to make whatever he was making.

I narrowed my eyes at him and furrowed my eyebrows. I stayed in my spot for a moment, before slowly turning around and leaving the apartment.

What was with all those questions?

He said Eli's name with such poison...

I never told him about anything bad Eli did.

So why did he sound so hateful towards him?
