... Elizabeth ...

"When is she going to be up?" A voice I've tried to forget fills my head. Now they decide to show up? What about all throughout my training?

"In a little bit. She was staked, what do you expect?" Isaacs's cold voice replies.

I hear some shifting, and I feel Blaise's soft fur spike up. He hisses and cuddles closer to me. "I've never been one for cats." I hear Mom mumble.

"Why does she have a cat anyway?" Dad asks.

"She has a special connection with night creatures. They obey her commands. This one can speak back to her, and they're like best friends now." Mason informs them and I hear Mom sigh.

I open my eyes and look at my parents. "His name is Blaise." I tell them, and they all look at me. Mom and Dad smile like it's the best day in the world, but underneath, their emotions are as unsteady as a volcano about to erupt.

"Why'd you name him Blaise?" Dad smiles.

"A good friend of mine died on a Hunting. I named him that out of his memory." I reply coolly.

They have been pestering me for the past hour. Blaise grumbles and I rub him behind his ears. He starts purring and I smile.

I still don't know why they came. They've neglected me for the past... four or five years of my life. I sigh.

"So why did you guys come? You haven't visited me for about three years." I ask, and their eyes harden.

"Because we wanted to see how you were doing." Mom smiles gently, her blonde hair falling in her face.

"Even after I broke my arm a couple of years ago, you didn't come." I look at them skeptically.

"That wasn't as severe as this though, Lizzy." Dad frowns, his brown hair slicked back. With Moms golden hair and Dads brown, I got copper colored hair. One of the better things they've given me.

I don't respond, but I do click back my teeth and draw in my talons. They barely even spare me another glance.

"Your cat, Blaise, right? He's very sweet." Mom tries to ease the tension.

"He says you've been pestering him for the past hour." I reply without missing a beat.

Thank you, now they may stop bugging me. Blaise sighs.

Not likely. They'll probably just ignore me.

Worth the try.

"I'm sorry. I'm not used to cats." Mom says apologetically, but her eyes don't move off of mine.

I start getting drowsy again, even though I have no idea why. Probably from healing so much. I close my eyes and let the darkness take me.

Good night, Lizzy. Love you. Blaise purrs.

Love you to.
