Goh: finally! Yes!
Ash: finally what?
Goh: I just got an email from project mew.
(Y/N): (talking to himself) DAMMIT!!! I still can't find pawniard and there's been no reports! I've searched all of Kanto and some of Johto! (Sees them) oh hey. You seem happy, what's the deal?
Ash: he got an email from project mew.
(Y/N): cool.
Ren: hey what's that about?
Chrysa: didn't you know? You see, Goh applied to become a member of a team that's doing some serious research about mew.
Ren: oh!
Cerise: he got a glowing recommendation from professor Oak so then the next step is to take the test to become a member.
Chrysa: so what does the email say? Did they give you a trial mission?
Goh: all they say is to go to their research facility at the foot of mount coronet in Sinnoh.
Chrysa: huh?
Ren: since when was there a research facility there?
Ash: we'll know soon enough.
Goh: yeah. You're coming too Ash?
Ash: of course I am. I promised I'd cheer you on, didn't I.
Goh: oh, thanks. Are you coming too (Y/N)?
(Y/N): I'd like to keep searching for pawniard.
Goh: That's okay, I understand.
(Y/N): but I made a promise to support you and there no way I'm gonna break that. Besides Chloe has been helping me cope and manage and she's right about pawniard being okay and that it won't be okay if I keep being sad all the time. So I'm coming with you.
Goh: thank you so much! I know how much pawniard and your Pokémon mean to you. Well, what are we waiting for
Ash/Goh/(Y/N): let's go!
(At mount coronet)
Ash: are you sure this is right?
Goh: the map says we're on target but it doesn't look much like a research lab.
(Y/N): at least it's not invisible like an invisible building or ship because we all know an invisibility cloaked ship or building is bad 80-90% of the time.
Ash: hey it's Gary.
(We see Gary talking to the blue haired girl that we saw on his phone as Gary walks away)
Gary: well, well I wondered who'd show up. It's Ash, (Y/N) and uhhh...
Goh: it's Goh.
Gary: (chuckles) I hear you're gonna take the test
Goh: and that's why I'm here.
Gary: hey even a total loser can take the test. All you need is the professor's recommendation, right. (Goh is not happy about that statement) but this is where the rubber meets the road.
Goh: and what does that mean.
Gary: this won't be a cake walk, project mew is serious business, so just give it your best shot (walks past them)
Goh: (irritated) THAT GUY GETS ON MY NERVES!
Ash: (laughs) that's so Gary.
Ash/Goh: hello?
(Y/N): anyone there?
(The door opens as a mime jr pops out as it runs away into the ship and comes back)
???: what is it mime jr?
Goh: excuse us. I... got an email instructing me to come here
???: huh? Perfect.
(We see them carrying boxes)
Goh: this thing must weigh a ton.
Ash: (also struggling) yeah.
(Y/N): what is in these?
(They stop as they see the man staring at the door)
Goh: is everything all right?
Man: it needs just the right touch (kicks the door gently a few times as it opens as he ducks his head and enters the room as they all put their boxes in their)
Man: it's heavy and takes so much space. I loathe that research comes in paper form.
Goh: (remembers something as he takes out a picture of mew that was on the box he was carrying) could this be... mew?
Ash: wow let me see.
Man: everything here is research on mew. (Cracks his back)
Goh: you're saying all of this?
Man: right. It's not nearly enough. I've looked it all over at least a dozen times but wind up with more questions than answers. Searching for mew is like getting lost in a labyrinth, there's something about it that's so bizarre and familiar at the same time. We still haven't introduced ourselves have we. Name's Amaranth. I'm the leader of project mew. Hi. (Holds his hand out for a handshake)
Goh/Ash: leader?!
Goh: I'm Goh. (Shakes his hand) I hope we can work together.
Amaranth: I've heard about you from professor Oak, take it from here.
(We see the blue haired girl from before)
Girl: sir.
Ash: you were talking to Gary awhile back.
Danika: I'm Danika. As you must know by now project mew's primary goal is to conduct intensive and thorough research on mew and the sight for that research is one this island at a place called table mountain. This is a massive rock that began forming 2 billion years ago, it encompasses nearly 2500 square miles, that's a world record, nearly 11,500 feet above sea level.
Ash: awesome! I wanna see that.
Goh: so where is this island located?
Ash: and is that where mew is?
Danika: I'll take questions at the end.
(Y/N): talk about strict.
Danika: be quiet.
Goh: (looks at Ash and (Y/N)) let's just stay quiet.
(Y/N): fiiine. I'll try not to purposefully annoy her.
Danika: the project takes the place during the week the rainy season changes to the dry season then it's back to rain. The thick mist covers everything, it's at this point searching becomes impossible, do you have any questions?
(Y/N): why are you so strict?
Danika: any other questions?
Goh: um... so about mew.
Danika: all mew research information is classified, you may ask about anything else.
(Y/N): why are you acting strict?
Danika: stop that.
Goh: well that's all I have.
Danika: then regarding your membership application there are trial missions to be performed and each and every one must be performed successfully.
Ash: that's the thing we saw Gary do!
(Y/N): we get to potentially look for legendary Pokémon?
Danika: the missions test your skills, the Pokemon trainer, your skill at catching Pokémon is one. They also include giving battle commands, alone and in combinations and working with other trainers
(They hear a sound)
Ash: huh?
Goh: what was that?
Danika: please reframe from talking
Ash/Goh: yes ma'am.
(Y/N): I don't like you very much.
Ash/Goh: shhhh!
Goh: please don't jeopardise this for me.
(Y/N): oh right. Sorry. Shutting up.
Danika: once you've completed a trial mission you will receive a special token on your rotom phone (pressing buttons) the one who collects the most tokens during the trial period will be admitted to the team. This time three applicants will be admitted combined with two previously selected, a total of 5 will be sent on the search. They're called chasers.
Ash: chasers?
Goh: so two people are already selected? Say, could it be you're one of them.
Danika: yes, I'm one. There's another and the other's name is Quillon.
Goh: Quillon.
(Meanwhile (Y/N) is picturing a quilladon with human features)
(A/N): inspired from Nico Robin at Thriller bark, another reason I love Thriller Bark apart from introducing my favourite straw hat that isn't Luffy. anyway back to the story.
Danika: questions?
Ash: yes ma'am! Are we allowed to come and help. (Referring to him and (Y/N))
Danika: teamwork is an important skill. It's also being tested in this trial. I will allow it.
Ash: alright!
(Y/N): so you're not all bad after all.
Danika: it's that time (presses button as the back opens up to reveal they're in the air)
Goh: we're flying!
Danika: we're in a glacial region in the northern section of mount coronet. Goh, your mission is to catch an alolan ninetails from this location.
Rotom phone: ninetails (alolan form), the fox Pokémon, an ice/fairy type. Ninetails has a tranquil personality.
Goh: doesn't that mean it doesn't live here in Sinnoh.
Danika: your mission has already begun. What happens from here on is yours to decide.
Goh: I'll catch it, no doubt!
Ash: that's the spirit Goh.
(They are outside now as the thing has landed)
Danika: you have a 6 hour time limit. Make sure you're back by that time.
(We see them in big orange coats to keep them warm)
Ash/Goh/(Y/N): ma'am.
Ash: let's go.
Goh: right.
(Y/N): we're going on a fox search, we're gonna catch a big one.
Goh: please stop singing.
(Y/N): well you're a mean one Mr. Goh.
(They head off)
(Y/N)/Goh/Ash: everybody we need your help!
(We see gengar, aerodactyl, (Y/N)'s Dragonite and Tropius as they're looking somewhere, next we see them in another area where we see Noibat, Dragonite and flygon. We cut to them looking somewhere skews with misdreavous and honedge until we see Goh sit down on the snow)
Goh: I never thought it was gonna be this hard.
Ash: I wonder where it could be hanging out.
(All the Pokemon fly back in)
Ash: you guys doing good?
(They shake their heads no)
(Y/N): oh you poor things, you must be cold.
Goh: I guess it was no good. Return for a little bit.
Ash: thank you.
(They are all returned to their pokeballs)
Goh: the only one left is scizor.
(Y/N): I have (feels for pokeball to feel nothing until a pokeball is handed to him) oh thank you. (Sees it's croagunk) croagunk! When did you get out your pokeball?
(Croagunk draws in the snow signalling it was ages ago)
(Y/N): and you're not cold!
(Croagunk shakes it's head)
(Y/N): I guess your dry skin really helps with this cold environment of snow since it's just frozen water huh.
(They hear a noise)
Goh: that's scizor calling!
Ash: let's go.
Goh: yeah.
(Y/N): alright.
(They head down to see scizor as it's in a stance ready in case it needs to battle as they see alolan ninetails)
Goh: there it is! Incredible scizor!
Ash: it's beautiful.
(Alolan ninetails turns around snarling at them as it leaps back and fires an ice beam at them)
Ash: Goh, (Y/N) are you okay?
Goh: yeah (Grookey is cold and hides in Goh's coat)
(Y/N): (gets up) I'm golden.
Goh: but what's wrong with ninetails. My rotom phone said it had a tranquil personality.
Ash: it's really angry.
(Y/N): probably because it's not supposed to be here but how did it get here?
(They dodge another ice beam)
Goh: hey Ash and (Y/N) what's effective against an ice and fairy type.
Ash: steel type moves.
(Y/N): pawniard would be great right now (remembers) oh! don't forget poison type moves too.
Goh: right scizor we're gonna use steel type moves! Use metal claw!
(Y/N): Croagunk poison jab!
(Scizor uses metal claw as ninetails dodges as Croagunk jumps off of scizor into the air and goes for a poison jab as ninetails hits it away with it's tail and fires an ice beam at scizor not only hitting it but freezing it solid too)
Goh: scizor!
(Y/N): it's not super effective but it's still effective use vacuum wave and block ninetails' sight!
(Croagunk fires a vacuum wave and hit the ground in front of ninetails as the area is covered in a snowy mist)
(Y/N): now poison jab!
(Croagunk goes in form behind for a poison jab but ninetails seems to predict it and jumps further back jumping over Croagunk who skids to a halt and goes to attack but to have to dodge another ice beam as it backflips back to it's trainer)
(Ninetails on a rock now let's out a loud cry. The sky begins to get darker and the hail starts intensifying)
Goh: scizor return!
(He returns Scizor)
(Y/N): Croagunk return! (Returns Croagunk)
(Ninetails disappears into the previously hailing and now blizzard weather)
Goh: ninetails just-
(It gets worse)
Ash: Goh, (Y/N) this is bad. If this keeps up we'll be-
Goh: but we gotta come up with a good plan! (Goh is then sent into the air as Ash catches him) don't let go!
(Ash begins being lifted into the air as (Y/N) grabs him)
(Y/N): I've got ya both.
(He uses his second hand to grab Ash's arm and pull him to the ground as they both help Goh down as they get low to the ground)
(They black out as they awaken by a campfire as Goh wakes up from grookey getting out his coat)
Goh: grookey.
(Ash wakes up as Pikachu is shaking it's tail)
Ash: Pikachu.
((Y/N) feels someone nudging him as he sees Croagunk)
(Y/N): hey Croagunk.
Goh: that's right. So that means-
Ash: we got caught up in the blizzard. Woah a weavile.
(They see a boy and a weavile peeking out a small gap in a cave)
Goh: did that person save us? Hello?
Boy: seeing the weak annoys me.
(They are got off guard by that response)
Boy: when the blizzard lets up go home.
Goh: wha! I got an important mission here to fulfill!
Boy: you failed. You'd be toast if I hadn't saved you. Both of you, all your Pokémon too.
Ash: wait just a second, what are you talking about failed.
Goh: hold on, he's probably connected with project mew.
(Y/N): oh god you're apart of project mew too! Why is everyone there except Amaranth so annoying.
Goh: isn't that right. Are you Quillon?
Quillon: that's a name you don't need to know anymore.
(Goh looks down)
Ash: hey Quillon, did he really fail?
(Y/N): how do you get to decided that anyway!
Goh: can I ask just one question. (Quillon looks up) what's an alolan ninetails doing here?
Quillon: Pokemon hunters. They captured it hoping to make a profit but they were forced to make a landing during the return trip, it escaped around here.
Goh: I see, that's why it acted up when it saw us. So if we catch it-
Quillon: we'll return it to mount lanakila.
Ash: woah is that true.
(It continues to blizzard outside and soon the blizzard passes as they leave the small cave)
Quillon: now as you promised go home.
Goh: I refuse.
(Y/N): yeah we made no promise.
Quillon: what's that.
Goh: my six hours aren't up yet. Besides Quillon you're looking for ninetails right.
Quillon: yeah what about it.
Goh: I wanna help ninetails get back to it's home too.
Ash: I do too.
(Y/N): yeah so don't count on us leaving.
Quillon: but how do you search for it without clues.
Goh: I thought of something. Since it was living on mount lanakila I figured it might try to go to a similar place.
Quillon: a similar place.
Goh: over there (points to a mountain as Goh shows how similar it and mount lanakila look)
Ash: it look just like mount lanakila.
Quillon: right, we're heading out.
(They head out)
Ash: no look huh.
Quillon: eyes ahead.
(The snow clears away to reveal ninetails)
Quillon: it's adapted to it's environment
Goh: ninetails! I want to help you get back to your home.
Ash: so please let us catch you.
Goh: pokeball go!
(Ninetails avoids the pokeball and fires an ice beam as they dodge it)
(Y/N): Croagunk poison jab!
Goh: cinderace let's go! (Sends out cinderace) use quick attack!
(Cinderace uses quick attack as ninetails uses dazzling gleam)
Ash: it's using dazzling gleam!
(Y/N): Croagunk watch out!
(Cinderace gets knocked away as Croagunk tries to push through with poison jab but also gets knocked back)
Goh: cinderace! Are you okay!
(Y/N): good thing fire is also really good against alolan ninetails.
Goh: cinderace use blaze kick!
(Cinderace uses blaze kick as ninetails lets out a cry and uses aurora veil)
Ash: this time is aurora veil!
(Blaze kick is bounced off it)
Goh: shake it off! Punch through it using pyro ball!
(Cinderace uses pyro ball as it bursts through the aurora veil and hits ninetails)
Goh: now pokeball go!
(He heroes the pokeball but it's hit by ice beam as it freezes over)
Ash: what was that?
Quillon: I didn't expect that I'd meet it here.
(We see a small glowing yellow symbol as some ice breaks to reveal regice)
Goh: now what's that?
Rotom phone: regice, the iceberg Pokémon, an ice type. It's body is covered in air 328 degrees below 0 and it's said to have slept inside glaciers for several thousand years.
Ash: several thousand years!
Goh: regice's body does seem to be made of glacier ice.
Quillon: regice may hold clues to the origin of Pokémon, it's very important.
Goh: huh?
(Y/N): it is an ancient titan sealed away all those years ago.
(Regice fires an ice beam)
Ash: Pikachu thunderbolt!
(Thunderbolt and ice beam cancel each other out
Ash: Goh I'll take this one.
(Y/N): me too.
Goh: thanks Ash, thanks (Y/N).
(Y/N): go save ninetails Goh, you got this.
(Goh nods and focuses on ninetails)
Goh: ninetails (holds arm out to tell cinderace to stop) I want to help you, please. Let me catch you. (Grookey goes across his arm and cinderace holds grookey as Goh approaches ninetails who is snarling causing Goh to stop)
Goh: ninetails. (Walks closer as it continues snarling as it uses aurora veil to shield itself) hold on a minute (puts hands against aurora veil) you need to trust me. Let's go, back to Alola (smiles) back to mount lanakila where your home is.
(Ninetails and Goh look at each other until it can tell Goh is true to his words and stops the aurora veil as Goh falls to the ground)
Goh: you'll do it? (Gets a pokeball ready) here it goes. (Gets a pokeball and gently throws it as ninetails goes in and it shakes three times and pings meaning he's caught it)
Rotom phone: ninetails, alolan form, has been registered to your Pokédex.
(Goh sighs and takes a breath of relief until we see Pikachu launched back into Ash)
Goh: Ash! Pikachu!
(Regice fires an ice beam)
(Y/N): Croagunk use it's ice beam against it with ice punch!
(Croagunk uses ice punch as it absorbs some of the power of ice beam into it's ice punch as it hits regice with ice punch)
(Y/N): this is getting nowhere.
Quillon: stand back.
(Quillon walks forwards as regice prepares a hyper beam)
Goh: that's hyper beam!
Quillon: game on. (Sends out his Pokémon)
Goh: what's that?
Ash: I've never seen that Pokémon before.
Rotom phone: urshifu (single strike style), the Wushu Pokémon, a fighting/dark type a d the evolved form of kubfoo (the Pokédex shows an image of kubfoo) it's goal is to win with one strike, it charges at its opponent's chest and strikes with it's highly trained fists.
Quillon: use wicked blow.
(Urshifu uses wicked blow and charges at regice with insane speed striking it in the centre send)big it backwards and hitting against the glacier it broke out of)
Quillon: urshifu, that's enough for now. I'll come again, please wait quietly until I do.
(We see regice not move as the yellow dots on it's face seem to dim and stop shining as Quillon returns urshifu)
Quillon: (walking away) it's time. We're heading back.
Ash/Goh/(Y/N): right.
(Back at the ship)
Goh: ah, it warms you right up.
(We see grookey and Pikachu drinking as cinderace and Croagunk are eating)
(Y/N): you were awesome today (holds hand out as Croagunk high fives it) (Lois at his other poke balls with his Pokémon in them) you were too.
Danika: (enters) we've received your alolan ninetails, you can leave the rest to us
Goh: that's great, thanks so much.
Danika: Goh, Ash, (Y/N).
Goh: huh?
Danika: thanks so much for saving ninetails.
Goh: oh. Well. I just wanted to get it back to mount lanakila.
Danika: and there's something else I should tell you. Honestly the mission you just cleared wasn't an official mission.
Goh: huh?
Danika: it was a test to see if you could take on the project mew missions or not.
Ash: what does that mean?
Danika: it means Goh has now been accepted as an official challenger to apply for project mew.
Ash: oh, this is why Gary said project mew wouldn't be a cake walk.
Goh: hold on Quillon said-
Quillon: quiet.
(Goh turns around to see Quillon)
Quillon: answer me this. Are you going to do it or will you refuse?
Goh: I'll do it! Please give me a chance!
(Tney stare at each other)
Ash: good for you Goh! (Puts an arm around his shoulder) I'm fired up about this too.
(Y/N): me too, it seems you two aren't as bad as I thought you were (referring to Danika and Quillon)
Goh: thanks but it just feels like I've gotten to the starting line.
Ash: that's okay just don't let Gary beat ya.
(Y/N): he will be one tough person to beat but I'm sure you can do it.
(We see Amaranth come in)
Amaranth: Goh, congratulations.
Goh: oh. Thank you so much professor.
Amaranth: Quillon, I heard regice made an appearance.
Quillon: the data is being analysed now.
Amaranth: you're always thinking a step ahead. It's no winner you're the chaser who has the highest score (slaps him on the back)
Goh: uh professor Amaranth.
Amaranth: huh?
Goh: is it true regice is vital to revealing the origins of all Pokemon? Quillon said so.
Amaranth: perhaps. That's certainly my thinking.
Goh: does that mean it's somehow related to mew
Amaranth: have either of you given this much thought?
Ash/Goh/(Y/N): huh?
Amaranth: about what Pokémon actually are, where they came from. I'd like to solve this, our world's greatest mystery and the one they say holds the DNA of all Pokémon is the key, the one said to be the ancestor of all Pokémon, mew. That's why I want mew thoroughly researched, it's project mew's most important goal.
Goh/Ash/(Y/N): great!
Goh: I'll do whatever I can to become a member!
Ash: yeah, I'll help anyway I can.
(Y/N): me too
(Grookey and Pikachu hop on their trainer's shoulder as cinderace gets up and Croagunk stands next to (Y/N))
Amaranth: very well. On our trip back to mount coronet shall we look at regice's data together.
Ash/Goh: great!
(Y/N): this'll be so cool!
(They reach mount coronet and begin to walk away as (Y/N) hears something as he sees black and red on a Pokémon)
(Y/N): Pawniard?
(However he looks again and sees nothing as he give to look but stops himself as he remembers Chloe's words)
(Flashback: evening as (Y/N) has been looking for pawniard as he sees Chloe by the Cerise lab)
(Y/N): any reason you're not asleep?
Chloe: same could be said for you.
(Y/N): you know why.
Chloe: and that's what I came to talk to you about.
(Y/N): huh?
Chloe: (Y/N), you don't need to be out most of the night, you're just hurting yourself more.
(Y/N): but-
Chloe: think about it. You've taught me that bonds between people and Pokemon are important and I've spent more time with ponyta and eevee I've grown to love them and care about them but one thing I have learnt is that if you're worrying despite how far away they are your Pokemon will worry so you have to stay strong and believe that they'll be okay because if you believe in your Pokémon they will be fine too as you and pawniard have been with each other.
((Y/N)'s eyes widen as he remembers first meeting pawniard, then that tree at the lab with the food as if you didn't know (Y/N) saw pawniard the whole time but pretended not to notice and see what's happen and was spying as pawniard ate the food and then him teaching pawniard he can work with other Pokémon as he then snaps out of it looks at Chloe and sees how far she's came from when he first met her)
Chloe: if you're not looking constantly and harming yourself in the process doesn't mean you've given up on them. Just like you trust your Pokémon, you should also have trust in others, my dad has put a report in, Ash and Goh are always with you, and I'll help too.
(Y/N): (sits down) you're right... you're right.
(Chloe sits down near him)
(Y/N): who thought it'd be you helping me through something. You're new to being a trainer or even having a Pokémon yet you're helping me. Thank you.
(And we see (Y/N) looking away as he's blushing)
(Flashback end)
(We see (Y/N) blushing as he takes a step back)
(Y/N): no pawniard will be fine. I don't just believe it, I know it. It's one of my Pokémon after all.
(They leave as we cut to the thing (Y/N) saw as they walk away and we see a kricketune and then we see it clash with an all too familiar face, that being pawniard as it defeats kricketune it feels something reassuring it and looks to the sky and closes it's eyes and believing that it's trainer is well like (Y/N) has just done)
(Speaking of (Y/N) he feels something in his heart as he smiles as this wave of relief washes over him)
(Before leaving pawniard helps kricketune up and they walk away further into the forest)
