Dark...
Why do these dreams always have to be so dark?
Cold as hell too...
Why are the nightmares always like this?
Why do they have to happen every night?
When were they going to stop?.....
All questions are left unanswered as a distorted chuckle sounded out in the dark of the room she was in.
This is something normal she'd experience in her nightmares, but this time, as distorted as it was, it was clearer than it had been in a long while. The little girl began to shake violently, the urge to take the blindfold off and run growing.
But she couldn't move.
Couldn't think.
Couldn't breathe.

.
And then the arms came.
Screaming and kicking at the monster that's haunted her dreams for years.
A faceless figure stood and watched the monster attack the child, a cackle breaking through the screams.
A cackle that made the kid break down into tears.
A cackle that echoes through her head.
A cackle that would haunt her forever.
As the monster went to drop her in its mouth, a figure in white stepped in and grabbed her.
Although being barely able to see through the blindfold, she was able to make out a white blanket wrapping her in safety…
Safety..?
That’s an unfamiliar feeling, but not an unwelcome one.
And as the figure in white picked her up and wrapped her in a white security, she woke up peacefully for the first night in a while.

Alexa woke up slowly, blinking and sitting up to look out her window at the sunrise creeping up past the taller buildings throughout the city. She got up and walked over to her window, she sighed as looked out over the buildings. Alexa remembered a time when her dad would take her flying around the city, teaching her how to spread her wings and glide on her own. The memory brought small tears to her eyes, she hasn’t been flying in such a long time, making a mental note that she needs to go flying to stretch out her wings later.
That thought alone made her wings fluff out some. With another sigh she walked over to her dresser to get ready for her morning.

It was a relatively quiet and calm trip to work that morning, Alexa helped Tommy with handling all the drinks. There were a few more than usual according to Tommy, but neither of them paid it any mind. There were few Heroes in and out of the building as they walked up, some of which had ordered coffee and picked it up from Tommy as they went.
Clementine was at the front desk as usual, a kind smile on her face as she watched the two of them walk to the elevator, giving them a small wave and a 'good morning' before they got into the elevator. She was still somewhat upset about them coming in with their injuries last week, but forgave them regardless. Alexa decided to help Tommy pass out the drinks since Karl and Awesamdude hadn't come in yet. She was very excited to help out like she always is, meeting some other Heroes that she looked up to or just thought were cool. Satyr Pure Blood Hero The Captain was just as nice as people said she was, Starborn-Blazeborn Hybrid Hero Royalty was just as colorful as every news reporter and article said they would be, Merling-Guardian Hybrid Hero Niaachu was a delight to speak to as always. It was just so cool, yet so dangerously frightening to be this close to the Heroes that wanted to put them behind bars, the same ones they looked up to.
Though she knew that if her or Tommy were to ever be caught it wouldn't be good on any accounts, she felt in her bones it would at some point, Tommy did as well. And yet, with that knowledge in mind, they felt themselves getting closer to the Heroes, felt a connection or a sort of bond form between them and most of the Heroes. They felt like they were home with some of them with how incredibly nice and caring they were towards the both of them, and it has only been three and a half weeks..
When it finally came time, only three drinks were left to hand out, one for Karl, one for Blade, and one for Siren. Tommy insisted that he'd be able to take the two drinks to Siren and Blade, and with a sigh she left him to it whole she took Karl's drink to him.
Once she got down to the lab she called out for Karl, only to be yanked into a different room rather roughly. Confused, she was about to question why he had done that, but he held up a hand to silence her as he spoke in a quick, quiet tone.
"There are cameras with microphones all over this lab, but only I control and have access to them. There are ones by the door I don't control, that's why I brought you over here. I need to ask you something important." Whatever cheery mood Alexa had been in before was gone now, demolished by the serious look and tone to the current situation. Her ears fell back as she looked around the area, nodding once her gaze finally went back to Karl.
"Where is your Enderian Mark?" He asked. Alexa tilted her head to the side as she gave him a questioning look.
"It's on the back of my neck. Why?" The night's precious escapade having completely slipped her mind. Karl simply sighed and told her what was wrong. How Blade had been suspicious of the coloration of the Mark on the vigilante, half the building knew about it within the first twenty minutes by the time he walked into work that morning. He even came down to tell Karl about it!
But in true Karl fashion, he somehow managed to, somehow, convince Blade that the back of the neck was a particularly common place to have a Mark. Which it is, a lot of people had a Mark there, but the coloration of the Mark was something that happened to catch his attention. 'NightCrawler is most likely a Triple Hybrid only using two traits then,' he'd told Blade. 'They must only use two to better hide themselves from the public.' And he wasn't completely wrong about that, but it was still terrifying to hear that one of the most intimidating Heroes in the business was ever so slightly on your trail.
Eventually Tommy came down and they both told him the news of Blade knowing that Alexa is a Triple Hybrid, of course he acted like a big man after having been told, saying things like ''there's no way he'll figure it out that soon", "he's smart, cunning even, but not enough for us to get caught that quickly". But even with those words of confidence, and a few squeals and squeaks from Kale (the mushroom) from Alexa's desk, both him and Alexa went about their duties and tasks for the day with more caution than probably necessary. Not to the point they were skittish, but just enough that when people came up to them while they were spaced out they startled more easily than usual.
Thankfully nobody really seemed to notice, and they went through their day without much problem.
