I started posting on Wattpad as a sort of mental health experiment—a distraction from the stress of my non-writing life and an attempt to rekindle the joy of writing. I had very low expectations. It was enough for me that the platform provided a way to share my work with family and friends.
The years I spent working with my ex-agent on this project and then querying in the hopes of finding a second agent, zapped my confidence—in the novel and in my writing abilities. So I was pretty shocked when Allyson made the Wattys 2021 shortlist.
