-Luka-

My hold on Blaine tightened, holding his close to my chest, as the hand around Dylan squeezed hard. Dylan started writhing in pain, and at the same time, Thomas appeared.

"Mr Ezra! What in the name of the lord is happening?!" He yelled, appalled at the scene before him. "Please let go of my son!"

I glared at Thomas, tightening my grip on Dylan's hand.

"What if I don't?"

Thomas widened his eyes in disbelief.

I felt a panicked tap on my shoulder, and turned around to look at Brett.

"Dude, just let go! You're making a scene!"

"I know. I want to make a scene."

"What the hell? Why?"

"To let Derrick over here know who's in charge. He's been annoying the shit out of me and that pisses me off."

"...his name is Dylan..."

Sighing, I weighed my options. I did indeed wish to crush Dylan's hand, but I had to get Blaine to the infirmary and crushing his hand wouldn't get him out of my way. Instead, he'd be a blockage between the hallways to the infirmary. Tsk. Blaine was far more important.

I released him and pushed him into his father's grasp.

"Oi. Keep an eye on your son. Consider this your last warning, or I can and will end your career."

Thomas frantically nodded, trying to soothe his crying son.

"Fuck off."

And they did.

I quickly carried Blaine up, and took him to the infirmary. The school nurse basically had eyes shaped like hearts for me, so when I told her to let him rest, she put him in the best bed.

"He can rest as long as he wants to here!" She twittered, saying so in an extra sweet voice, even though I could sense the scowl she directed at the boy when I turned around. I smiled gratefully at her, watching her die internally.

Exiting the infirmary, I met up with Brett, who had a weird look on his face.

"Luka, dude..." I tilted my head in confusion.

"Are you gay?"

A moment of silence passed between us, and the hallway filled with people also turned silent.

And I burst out laughing.

"Why'd-why'd you even ask- HAHA-" I was choking on my words.

After an uncomfortable moment, Brett also started laughing, the hallways filling with relieved sighs and small laughs.

"Sorry man, I thought you were, you were paying way too much attention to the worthless kid!" Brett stated after his laughing fit.

"Well, he was hurt, if it was a girl, I would do the same. Is it not normal to help someone in need?" I replied. I didn't comment on how he called Blaine "worthless". Not yet, at least.

"Oh, that makes sense! You helped him because he was injured, right?" I nodded my head.

Brett placed his hand on his chin. "But he's a White Cloak." I smiled, even though my hand balled up into a fist. "He's still human. It doesn't mean he can be denied medical help when he's injured." Brett shrugged. Really testing my patience, huh..

"Well, what're you gonna do now?"

"I guess I'll wait till the boy wakes up. He's probably going to be confused and all that, so I'll just do that."

"Wow bro, you really have a heart of gold. You ain't a discriminator, are you? Maybe I should follow in your steps."

"Maybe."

The conversation continued to smaller topics, and soon Brett went home.

I sighed softly, and went back to the infirmary, sitting next to Blaine's bed.

The school nurse came over, bending over and flaunting her fake breasts.

"So, Luka... What're you doing right now..?" She twittered.

"Nothing, I'm just going to wait till he wakes up." I pointed towards the white haired sleeping figure.

It was only for a second, but she had a look of disgust on her face. It was quickly replaced by a shiny, bright smile.

"Aww, that's so nice of you! Wanna get coffee sometime?" She asked, blinking rapidly. The confidence she had amazed me, being able to go out looking like a train wreck.

"Well, I'm pretty busy." I frowned slightly, hoping she'd take a hint. And of course, she didn't.

"Well, I hope you call me at least! I'm going to go home now, I'll be waiting for your call!" The woman said, handing me a slip of paper with her name and phone number on it, before leaving.

I smiled and waved as she left, before my face morphed into a bored look. Crushing the paper and throwing it into the dustbin, I took out some files from my bag and started working on them.

I was engrossed into my work, making phone calls one after another, but I made sure to stay as silent as possible, not wanting to disturb the resting boy.

"..Could you do a favour for me, Claire?" I asked my secretary.

"Yes, of course, Mr Ezra." Came her reply.

"Call one of the employees by the name of Noah Carter and inform him that his son will be working on a school project with his partner, and thus he won't be coming home early. Be as discreet as possible, ask of it like a teacher."

"Understood. Would you like it to be done now?"

"Yes, as soon as possible."

"Then consider it done."

"Thanks."

"No problem, sir."

I ended the call, holding back a small sigh before going back to my work.

The sun gradually went down, the moon making an appearance. I sighed as I rubbed my temples. Having troublesome employees were annoying, and I had fired more than 5 in the past few hours.

Sure, having branches were great and all, but if the company started hiring useless people, then it wasn't all fun and games anymore. The main company, where I worked, didn't have a lot of people that lived up to my expectations either, but I had to take what I could get.

I was in the middle of a call with Blair, when the boy beside me began to stir.

"Something happened on my side. I'll call you back later."

"You're at school now, right?"

"Yep."

"Get home safe with Blaine, kay?"

"Okay."

"Then I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye."

I hung up, taking notice of the now awakened boy.

"How're you feeling? Any pain?" I asked softly. After all, he was almost suffocated to death. And all of a sudden, Blaine had started crying.

I quickly stood up to find tissue, but I felt a hand grabbing onto me. I turned around to look at the boy, noticing how his heterochromatic eyes shone in the moonlight.

"Please, don't leave me here..." He weakly whimpered out, as I frowned a little, before sitting down again, pulling his body towards mine. I was basically hugging him, but I didn't dislike it. My hands circled around his waist, pulling him towards me. He slumped into my arms, letting out soft noises. His tears soaked my shirt, but I didn't care about that. Nothing was more important than him right now.

His head was against my chest, and my hand slowly moved up from his shoulder to his head, slowly stroking it, as he quivered from the intensity of his sobs. Cradling his body to mine, I whispered soothing words into his ears, calming him down from his breakdown, as I caressed his head gently. I was gently rocking him back and forth as well, holding him like a baby.

"I can't take it anymore..." He sobbed out, leaving me extremely confused. What was happening to him?

"Father...ngh... does things to me at home. His friends as well. M-Mr Rea told me to see him in his office from now, and I'm s-scared. Please... what do I d-do?" He choked out, gripping tightly at my shirt. I stopped, shocked, but quickly started rocking him again, trying my best to make him feel safe.

"I want it to end. It..It hurts. M-My life is worthless, and e-everyone would be happy if I died. It hurts, L-Luka. It hurts." He whimpered out, not being able to speak properly through his tears. Blaine continued on, telling me how his life had been like, and how he wanted to die to just end it all. I let him vent, while I listened silently, gently fiddling with his hair. He seemed to like that, seeing how he leaned into my palm subconsciously.

Soon, he had gotten exhausted and his eyes were puffed up from his crying. He tried to hide his face away, but I tilted it up to face me.

"Don't hide your face from me, Blaine." I murmured out, staring at him. His eyes were beautiful, a mix of sea green and bright blue in both. Heterochromia was astounding, especially paired with such a beautiful boy. My hand moved to his back, running my fingers up and down slowly, as Blaine bit his lip.

I looked at his wrists and noticed the cuts. Most looked newly made, and I raised them up slowly, looking at them up close. "Don't cut yourself..." I mumbled softly. Blaine tried to yank his hands away, but I held on tighter, making sure not to touch the wounds. I sighed softly, before coming to a decision that had been in my mind for a long time. I put his hands down gently, and tilted his head to face me.

"I'll help you. I'll help you get away from all this." I said seriously. He looked incredulous. "How? It's impossible." He whispered, his eyes shining with tears in the moonlight.

"I don't make empty promises. Trust me." I replied. Blaine slowly lowered his head. "You can try..." He mumbled softly.

"Give me 5 days. Everything will be okay." I promised immediately. He looked up at me with a pained expression before smiling and nodding forcibly.

He tried moving away, but I held him tighter. He opened his mouth to protest, but I cut him off.

"Blaine, I'll need your help when I deal with your father." He slowly nodded, even though he didn't look convinced.

All of a sudden, Blaine started breathing heavily, taking in large gasps of air. It was as if I could read his mind.

"I've informed your father that you'd be late today." He immediately let out a sigh of relief.

"I've also told him you were going to start coming over to my house for a project. It's to keep you away from your father, even if it's a just a few hours everyday." I told him, but he looked grim.

Blaine looked at me with a bittersweet expression. "Luka, it's okay. You can't free me from Father. Thank you for all that you've done, but it's just impossible. It'll never work." He whispered, his voice breaking at the last part. I looked at him painfully, and caressed his face gently. "It will. I'll make sure it works, even if I have to go to extremes."

Silence fell between us.

"Why?" Blaine asked. I tilted his head, confused. My hand continued to stroke his face gently, tucking a loose strand of hair behind his ear.

"Why are you so nice to me? I'm a White Cloak, and a pure white one at that. My life is worthless." He repeated, increasing the volume of his words. I stopped my touching, and was taken aback.

Why did I feel like this for Blaine?

It wasn't pity.

It was as if I was staring at a younger version of myself.

I didn't want anyone to suffer like how I did back then.

"You remind me..." The words slipped out of my mouth.

He looked at him curiously, but I was already lost in the memories of my past. I didn't want to worry Blaine yet, so I snapped back to reality giving him my first genuine smile in days.

"That's something I can't tell you...yet.". I threaded his fingers through his hair one last time, before releasing him fully.

"If you're tired, rest for a little. I'll bring you back." I said. He nodded his head, seemingly thinking about something.

As I walked out to the empty hallways, I began whistling a soft tune while thinking about what happened today.

Brett asked me if I was gay.

Yes, I laughed at his question.

But...

Did I say no?
