MEETING ZAMASU
A HYBRID VS A KAI
Beerus, Whis, Caulifla, and I flew through the cosmos
Y/N: What is the plan, Whis?
Whis: Your grandfather, Bardock seems to claim that Zamasu is the one behind his turn. We will meet with him and his master Gowasu. I must ask you to play it cool, we are trusting the word of a voice in your head, Y/N, lay low, don't say anything unless spoken to, and no sudden movements.
Y/N: I understand, sir... Whis.
Whis: Hmm?
Y/N: If we are able to free Bardock of Zamasu's control, what happens to him?
Whis was silent for the moment
Whis: Bardock clearly isn't from Trunk's timeline. In the "Sacred Timeline", Bardock was killed at the hands of Frieza, trying to save Planet Vegeta, several decades before where Trunks is from. Clearly, if Zamasu is behind this, he manipulated time to capture Bardock and take him to Trunks' present. If you manage to free Bardock from that mask he wears, he will either stay in Trunks' time or stays in this time.
Y/N: Is there a way we could send him back to his
Whis: Possibly, but need I remind you, it is highly forbidden to manipulate time in such a way. The only ones who could possibly do this are the Grand Priest and Grand Zeno, though they both won't be happy that such actions are being done
I nod slightly, still worried about Bardock.
IN THE TENTH UNIVERSE
Gowasu took a sip of tea given to him by a green-skinned, white-haired Kai named Zamasu.
Zamasu: Master, there is something I've wanted to ask you that's been weighing on my mind recently
Gowasu: Go on, tell me.
Zamasu: These mortals we watch. Are they creatures truly worthy of our protection, sir? With respect, I've observed more mortal dealings than I care to count. They thrive, quarrel, and perish, all on an endless loop. And it seems to me for them to keep doing this is the height of futility.
Gowasu: Ah. That is the path mortals must take.
Zamasu stood up
Zamasu: What sense does it make for us to protect those flawed beings when they persistently make the same tragic mistakes? Would it not be more merciful on our part to put a halt to their hopeless cycles once and for all?!
Gowasu: The role of the Supreme Kai, and all other Kais, is creation. We are not meant to have a direct hand in our creation's affairs if we can avoid it. You do understand that, don't you?
Zamasu: So, you would have me do nothing, and just ignore the mortals' perpetual folly?
Gowasu: No, no. We don't simply ignore the mortals. We watch over and nurture them. That is the position in which we find ourselves. Only one among us is permitted to directly interfere with their kind. That's the destroyer
Zamasu gasped quietly at the words spoken.
Gowasu: I want you to listen to me, Zamasu. Always remember where your place is. And make an effort to get to know mortals better. Is that understood?
Zamasu hesitated
Zamasu: Y-yes... Huh?
Zamasu turns as he hears Lord Beerus and Whis enter the Tenth Universe
Gowasu: Well, well, if it isn't Lord Beerus
Beerus: Hi.
Whis: It's been far too long, Gowasu.
Gowasu: Indeed it has. This is my apprentice, the Supreme Kai in training, Zamasu.
Zamasu: It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. W-wait... Mortals?
Zamasu's eyes meet mine.
Whis: Allow me to introduce Caulifla of the Sixth Universe, as well as S-
Gowasu: Son Y/N of the Seventh?
My eyes widen
Y/N: Y-you know me..?
Gowasu: Of course. A mortal that at only 21 years of age, mastered Autonomous Ultra Instinct faster than any living being in history
I bow
Y/N: T-thank you for your kind words, Gowasu, sir...
I look back at Zamasu, based on the look on his face, he was not too happy to see me, and neither was I
Y/N: And you're Zamasu...
There was silence among the group
Zamasu: This creature.. he holds the power of the gods like it's nothing.. and he travels with a Destroyer?!
Gowasu: What do we owe the pleasure of your visit, Lord Beerus?
Whis: A disturbing matter, we were hoping that you can help us solve a mystery
I look at Zamasu, able to sense his energy a bit, his energy felt identical to Bardock's in the middle of our battle, this had to be the guy.
Whis: Recently, a troubling individual long believed to be dead appeared on Earth in the Seventh, wearing a Time Ring.
Zamasu: A Time Ring?
Gowasu: Hmm..
Whis: If that weren't vexing enough, this individual was not a Supreme Kai, but a Saiyan
Gowasu: T-that's not possible!
Y/N: This guy... I believe to be my grandfather, who has been dead for the past 50 or so years. Do you have any ideas?
Gowasu: This is rather inexplicable, isn't it?
Whis: Indeed; it simply doesn't add up.
Beerus: Tell us. Are all of your Time Rings where they should be right now?
Gowasu: Of course. I store them carefully in a very safe location
Beerus: That's good to hear, but would you mind if we checked them out, to be sure?
Gowasu: If you insist. Zamasu?
Zamasu continued to eye me, I clenched my fist
Gowasu: Zamasu! Would you show Lord Beerus and his associates to the temple?
Zamasu: Y-yes master..
We follow Zamasu and Gowasu up to a rather beautiful building, the front gate in the shape of a symbol, meaning Kai. They walk to get the Time Rings while the four of us wait.
Whis: It would seem Zamasu was unaware of the Time Ring's existence until we brought them up, my lord
Beerus: You're right...
I stood not too far away, my foot tapping anxiously
Caulifla: Y/N...
Y/N: I'm fine, Caulifla...
Caulifla: We just have to tolerate that green idiot for a little while longer, then we can get the answers you want.
Suddenly, Gowasu and Zamasu reappear with a small box. He opens it delicately, revealing all the Time Rings.
Gowasu: As you can see, all the rings are present and accounted for.
Beerus: Ahh, indeed.
Whis: I guess the search continues.
Gowasu: Yes. For a moment, you had me worried I'd made some grave mistake. But now that we can see all is in order. I have to ask why you came to the Tenth Universe for answers to a problem occurring in the Seventh?
Beerus looked to Zamasu, who continued to eye me
Beerus: Zamasu, would you excuse us for a moment?
Zamasu: U-uhh, of course.
Zamasu walked off, side-eying me.
Beerus: Y/N.
I walk over to Gowasu
Y/N: This guy we're dealing with in the Seventh spoke to me, saying that a man with green skin and white hair captured him and tortured him, putting him in a mask that forced him to do his bidding. We believe that man to be Zamasu
Gowasu's eyes widen
Gowasu: I-I can assure you my apprentice would never do such a thing!
Y/N: Zamasu's energy resembles that of the man who came to Earth. It felt like Saiyan's energy but with godly influence.
Gowasu's face fills with worry.
Y/N: If you don't mind, sir, I'd like to challenge your apprentice to a one-on-one sparring match.
Gowasu: A-as you wish.
TIME SKIP
Zamasu and I stood in front of each other, Whis, Beerus, Caulifla, and Gowasu watched from not too far away. Gowasu, based on the look on his face, was now worried, I think my words got to him.
Y/N: Alright, Zamasu! LET'S DO THIS!
I power up to SSJ 2
Gowasu: Super Saiyan, was it?
Beerus: Indeed, though this is the second form of the transformation, Super Saiyan 2
Zamasu: Super Saiyan 2? His energy is exponentially higher now, and yet he's still holding back Ultra Instinct!
Y/N: Haven't fought a deity since I fought Lord Beerus.
Zamasu: YOU FOUGHT A DESTROYER?!
Gowasu: IS THAT TRUE!?
Beerus: Indeed. It was a surprisingly hard-fought battle. I had to use 70% of my full power.
Gowasu: My goodness. This doesn't make any sense to me! How is it possible he's still alive after that!?
Beerus: I had enough fun to spare his life. Guess after all of this, it was worth it. If we were to fight like that again, I'd have to use a good 80-85% of my full power.
Zamasu: And here I thought, mortal, you possessed Ultra Instinct?
Y/N: I do, somewhat. I haven't been able to achieve it since fighting Jiren. If I could, I'd use it without a doubt. For now, Super Saiyan 2 will suffice. I'LL KICK THINGS OFF, ZAMASU!
I get into my fighting stance while Zamasu gets into his
I rush at Zamasu, he grabs my fist and swipes me to the side.
Zamasu: You're finished now, mortal!
He attempts to strike my neck but I block his chop with a blast, then I felt his energy.
Y/N: This sensation... it's almost identical to Bardock's energy during our fight!
Beerus: Did you feel that
Whis: Indeed.
We both gain some ground before I charge at Zamasu again. He blocks my punch, but I began to overpower him. I attempt to kick him in the head but he once again blocks my kick.
Zamasu: This mortal.. he's even stronger than he was at the Tournament of Power..
I land a powerful punch to his face, sending him flying back, crashing to the ground. I swing at him while he's down but stop my fist just before I connect
Y/N: This answers everything... It has to be him...
I hold out my hand
Y/N: Thank you for the fight-
Zamasu threatens to swat my hand away
Gowasu: Zamasu!
Zamasu sighs before accepting my hand
Beerus: *yawns* Well, I've seen the rings, which is all we came for, come along Y/N! We're headed home! Oh, and Gowasu, do keep an eye on your apprentice...
I look to Zamasu, bowing a bit before running off back to Beerus. All four of us fly up and set off toward the Seventh Universe.
Whis: Between the antisocial psyche that's clearly lurking within him and the energy he projected outward
Y/N: It's Zamasu, it has to be!
Whis: Hold it, Y/N. There are elements we can't yet explain.
Beerus: If we all believe it. Maybe I should just dispense with him now, while I can.
Y/N: His energy was almost the same, though Bardock's own energy was intertwined with it as if Bardock doesn't possess it himself
Whis: You believe Zamasu gave Bardock some of his energy to make him stronger?
Y/N: No doubt!
IN THE TENTH UNIVERSE
Zamasu: Master Gowasu. I want to thank you for encouraging me to battle the Saiyan Hybrid. My understanding of his power has grown much deeper because of the encounter.
Gowasu: So I see. Has this helped to assuage the feelings of disdain toward mortals that have been bubbling inside of you?
Zamasu: I'm deeply ashamed of how callow I've been.
Gowasu: Then, I assume you've learned an important lesson.
Zamasu: Yes.
Gowasu: You should know, coming to the realization is an important step. Indeed such reflection is what it means to grow.
Zamasu: Yes, master.
Gowasu: Zamasu, go fix another cup of tea
Zamasu complies, though his blood boiled
Zamasu: Oh, I've learned a lesson. Mortals are even more dangerous than I thought. Know this, Son Y/N, I will never forget you.
