Once again, I'm stuck in my head,
Swimming among the toxic thoughts,
Sometimes barely floating,
Waiting to be saved from drowning.
The water beats over my face,
My glasses are fogged and clouded,
I go deaf to everything except my own struggle,
As I beat my hands and legs faster to stay afloat.
So stuck I am, waiting for help that,
I forget soon enough that it's not only me,
That maybe even you're barely breathing in the same storm,
Close enough to collapsing.
For a second I emerge from the waters,
And that's when you shout, still trying to fight,
I hear you for the first time and am eaten by guilt within.
I hope I'm not too late to realize my selfishness.
And then I shout back,
Hoping you hear me,
The waters swallow me again,
But I swim, blindly following my instinct.
And then I crash into something, someone,
It's you; who followed my voice just as blindly.
We grab each other's arms,
Together, let's emerge victorious.
