Gracies POV (7 Years Old)
I could feel my heart beat against my chest as beads of sweat rolled freely down my face,
"Jay? Will?" I shouted in to the darkness in hopes that one of my big brothers would suddenly appear and save me "guys?" I shouted again but received no response. My heartbeat quickened as I heard footsteps heading my way through the darkness,
"Hello?" I whimpered as the footsteps grew closer and a man appeared in front of me,
"Little Gracie Halstead" the man spat with a sinister smirk,
"How do you know my name?" I asked the stranger with a terrified wobble in my voice. He let out a villainous laugh,
"I know all about you" he replied as he walked towards me. I couldn't take my eyes of the strangely familiar man as I backed away in fear until my back hit the cold stone wall "there's no point in running" he smirked "no one will come for you" he said matter of factly but I shook my head in defiance,
"That's not true" I stated with tears in my eyes "my brothers will find me" I said adamantly and his wicked cackle only increased in volume,
"Come with me sunshine, I've got something I wanna show you" he sniggered slyly as he grabbed my arm painfully hard and dragged me through the cave like room before stopping at the top of a set of stairs that led down in to a pit of darkness "abracadabra" he said in a sickly sweet voice before clapping his hands commanding the lights to turn on. I squinted at the sudden change in light and blinked a few times to allow my eyes to adjust before looking down the creaky metal stairs in to the windowless room. "I spy with my little eye, something beginning with b" he continued his cruel game. I scanned the room cautiously half expecting something to jump out at me. But what I saw was much much worse. Jay and Will lay lifeless in the corner of the room with blood covering there clothes,
"JAY. WILL" I screamed in horror causing my captor to howl in hysterics as he let go of my arm and allowed me to run down the tattered looking stairs and over to my two brothers "guys" I pleaded as I shook Jays shoulder before doing the same to Will only to receive no response "please wake up" I begged but with no luck,
"Oh hunny" the evil man patronised "they're not waking up anytime soon if you know what I mean" he joked as the tears poured from my eyes at a colossal speed,
"YOU'RE LYING" I screamed hysterically "WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM?" I demanded but the man simply sniggered at me pitifully,
"I was hoping you would ask" he smirked psychotically as he pulled his phone out and pressed play. I looked on in shock and horror as I watched two men beat up my brothers,
"NO" I screamed "STOP IT! YOU'RE LYING. STOP IT" I demanded as I looked away from the screen and kept my eyes firmly closed.
"Awe, I wish I could" he mocked "oh wait a minute. No I don't" he added wickedly as he tucked his phone back in to his jeans pocket "now" he said as he walked towards me causing me to back away until my back hit the cold stone wall "time to send you where your precious big brothers are" he said sinisterly. He pulled out a gun from his waistband and pointed it directly at my head silently. I shut my eyes in terror and let out a blood curdling scream-
"Gracie" I heard someone say as I tossed around erratically "Gracie, wake up baby girl" the voice comforted. My eyes shot open and my breathing continued to be erratic "hey hey hey" Will? "Sweetie look at me" he encouraged as he cupped my face in his hands and my eyes stopped flicking frantically around the room and met my brothers concerned ones "you're safe. It was just a dream" he assured as my breathing began to slow down and I burst in to tears. I threw my arms around his neck and sobbed,
"I was so scared. You and Jay where covered in blood and you wouldn't wake up even though I was trying to make you and there was this horrible man there who had hurt you then he pulled a gun out and he was gonna shoot me" I rambled as my brother rubbed soothing circles on my back and rocked me back and forth slightly.
"Shhhh" he soothed "it was just a bad dream" he assured "everyones ok" he promised as my sobs died down and my breathing levelled out,
"Are you sure you're not hurt?" I asked in concern as my brain struggled to separate the fact from the fiction,
"I'm fine Gracie" he said as he pulled me away from him "look" he said as he held his hands up in proof "it was just a bad dream" he repeated as he wiped away some of the stray tear that where still lingering on my cheeks. My eyes widened in horror when I realised the noticeable lack of my other brother,
"Oh no, where's Jay?" I asked alarmed as my breathing began to speed up and tears stung my eyes once again,
"He's staying at Haileys remember" he reminded as he continued to rub small soothing circles on the back of my hand "I'm sure he's just fine" he assured but I shook my head,
"You don't know that Will" I shrieked "what if he's hurt and we just don't know?" I asked in panic. I watched as Will pulled out his phone and looked at the time. 10:30pm. Wow. I've only been asleep a couple of hours.
"Do you want to call him? Would that make you feel better?" He asked and I nodded instantly "ok fine" he agreed as he tapped Jays name and held the phone to his ear "I promise you he's fine Gracie" he repeated as he waited for Jay to answer "hey sorry to...disturb you" Will cleared his throat "Gracies had a nightmare and she's pretty freaked out about it. She wants to talk to you" he explained and a few seconds later he handed me the phone,
"Jay?" I asked tearfully,
"Hey sweetie" he greeted "what's the matter?" He asked. I told him all about the terrible dream I had and how him and Will had been covered in blood,
"You promise you're not hurt?" I asked,
"I promise, I'm absolutely fine Gracie" he assured "It was just a scary dream that's all, but it's over now" he promised and I sniffled in response "now try and get back to sleep and I'll see you tomorrow ok?" He asked and I nodded,
"Ok, love you" I said,
"I love you to" he replied before we hung up the phone and I handed it back to Will,
"Happier now?" He asked with a light smile and I nodded,
"Can I sleep in your bed?" I asked hopefully and Will let out a soft sigh,
"If it will make you feel better" he allowed "but you have to sleep in your own bed tomorrow, deal?" He asked and I nodded,
"Deal" I agreed as I grabbed my stuffed rabbit and followed my brother in to his room. His bed was still made and I noticed the tv was still playing in the living room so I guess he had yet to come to bed,
"Right, in you get" he instructed as he pulled his duvet back for me to climb in to. His bed is much bigger than mine and had a different smell. A comforting smell. "I'm gonna go and get changed but I'll be back in a minute" he informed before leaving to do just that. A few minuted later he reentered his room dressed and ready for bed before climbing in next to me and allowing me to snuggle down under his arm,
"What If I have the same nightmare?" I asked nervously as Will rubbed my arm comfortingly,
"You won't" he assured "just try and think of nice happy things" he suggested as replanted a kiss on the top of my head,
"Night, love you" I said contently,
"N'night. Love you to" he replied before I fell in to a dreamless sleep.
