Todoroki seems surprised that you understand him at all. You give him a toothy grin and hand him a cup of tea. He's been talking for a while- His throat must be really dry.

"I feel like I'm closer to you now, one way or another. I'm glad we had this lunch. I know you might be wondering why I-" You pause to think about how to put your thoughts into words, "I understand because I have some experiences myself."

You avoid his gaze after seeing one of his brows raise.

"Not as bad as your own, but it did happen-" You quickly explain, "I have strict parents, with zero knowledge on how to properly raise a child, and love them."

"They feel the need to find their authority in me and feel superior, so trying to convince them that I'm right in a situation never worked," You fidget with your fingers, voice quiet.

"They tend to ignore my feelings as well. My opinions."

"My mom left early for work and came back late. She traveled a lot too. My dad worked outside the country, so I barely see him. They contributed a lot and were really tired, but hid that fact from me until recently when I got into UA. THey only opened up to me after I had given up on trying to make peace with the negativity they'd show me when I was little..." You take the tea set and pour yourself a cup, feeling the warmth on your fingertips.

"At the age when I needed parents the most, I didn't have any. I was insecure, really lonely, and very self-doubting. And being in a boarding school at that time didn't help at all," You lower your eyes and stare down at the steaming liquid.

"I didn't know back then, but as I grew up and learned more about this stuff, I realized that I was going through a lot. I could say my childhood wasn't really... a childhood..." You take a sip of the tea.

"I had one mental support; this stuffed F/a my dad bought me when I was one. I bring it everywhere. I didn't realize it was so important to me until I couldn't find it once."

Thump Thump Thump.

You could feel your lips trembling, recounting your story, "Then when I started growing up, my mom decided to bring me to live with my dad, outside the country. I was introduced to a whole new world, literally. I felt like that year that I went there, was when I had only started living,"

You sigh, "I started making some friends, who eventually had to leave."

"Then there was the recent pandem-" You stop yourself, remembering that you aren't in your old world anymore, "-plans, and we moved again."

"My new classmates, during that time, were in the middle of teenage and puberty, so they bundled up together in their 'popular' groups. Either way, it probably sounds really arrogant, but none of them were really worthy of my time..."

"Then came the expectations. All of a sudden; I think it was around a few years before we moved; my parents started giving me extra work. They expected me to plan my own future at just 13, as if I really needed it all. I found no interest in anything and stalled in making any plans, resulting in many arguments; many of which usually one-sided. They'd hit me sometimes, too, when I argued back." I didn't want to put a marker on everything in my life. I wanted to let it flow naturally. Plus they never support my deicions in life anyway-"

"You're one of the top students here at U.A, there's no doubt about your capabilities," Todoroki interrupts, voice firm.

"Well, I always was the best, everywhere I went. Plus, whether I did extra work or not, they just never see the good in me," You manage a weak smile, "Maybe it's because I wasn't good or smart with my words.."

"Because of everything, I became more insecure, more doubtful, especially of myself. I worked hard on my strength, perfecting everything I could. I cared a lot about what people thought of me. And I really, really, hate having spare time on my hands where all of a sudden I start contemplating life."

"During these times, I second-guess all of my choices, second-guess my goals. Even the one as to being a hero..." You struggle to formulate words, the old, lonely times where you sobbed to yourself rushing back to you, "To be really honest, I don't have the pure heart of a true hero; at least not in my opinion." I don't even belong in this world... I never even had the heart of a hero.. I'm just a little childish bitch that wants validation...

"That's not true. I heard Kirishima and Mina talking about how you saved them during the entrance exams even though you got hurt for it," Todorki immediately cuts in, making you smile through your tears.

"Thank you, Todoroki..." You whisper, raising your gaze to meet his.

Thump

You can't seem to tear yourself away from those eyes.

They look so tempting when they're not defensive and cold.

Thump

You feel your cheeks heat up and quickly look away, "As I grew up and matured, I guess I sort of just gave up. I started trying to think in their places, convincing myself that they just wanted the best for me. I always loved my parents, don't get me wrong, it's just that-" You take a deep breath, much calmer now, "I love them, a lot. But it's just so conflicting- my mixture of feelings.."

He nods with a knowing look.

A silence falls over the two of you, but neither of you minds it.

"May I call you Y/n?" He asks suddenly, "We're officially friends now, right?"

"Of couse." You smile softly.

"Very well. We should eat now, the food is getting cold." He picks up his pair of chopsticks and bowl of cold soba.

You discard the lingering sadness in your head and grab your own chopsticks, "I never say no to food~"

You smile and start digging in.

"Their cold soba is really delicious, that's why I come here a lot." He comments after swallowing a mouthful.

"It is really good, actually," You agree, shoving some more soba in your mouth. Gotta enjoy the expensive shit when I can.

After lunch, Shoto had apparently already paid, you decide to take him around the more common places since he said he doesn't go out a lot. Before leaving the restaurant, you take a quick selfie of the two of you without saying anything.

He looks surprised in the picture, but still really handsome.

How does he manage to pull that off without even knowing I was taking a picture?! You think bitterly, jealous of his poreless skin and hot ass face.

After that, you walked with him to the arcade, taught him half a dozen games, and had some fun yourself.

It was around 4 in the afternoon when the two of you finally leave the arcade. You both walk around aimlessly, chatting about random things and going into random shops you come across.

Finally as the sun begins to set, he walks you home so you don't get lost.

"Thank you Shoto," You say genuinely, "Today was really a lot of fun."

"See you at school," He waves, the corners of his lips lift into a tiny smile, "I'm glad I made a friend today."

The sun is setting and the sky is half dark. The orange light casts a brilliant shade onto his face, his white strands shining. "Me too," You whisper, a suspicious pink tint spreading across your cheeks as he turns to leave, his silhouette glowing under the beautiful sunset.

BeepBeepBee-

Another Monday... You sit up in bed and stretch. You get ready quickly, following your routine and head downstairs.

After a quick breakfast, since you're early today, you decide to walk.

Yesterday was like seconds ago, it was so fun. You smile to yourself as you pluck in your headphones.

A couple minutes in, someone pulls one of your earbuds out from behind you.

"Why are you smiling alone like a damn idiot?" You hear a familiar voice behind you.

"Good morning to you too, boom boom boy." You continue walking without turning back, one hand adjusting your headphones.

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" He shouts, earning a couple of weird looks as he runs after you.

"Shhh! People are looking at us weird!" You whip around and stick a finger to his lips. He freezes, and you turn back around, satisfied with the result.

"Don't walk in front of me, you shitty extra!" He says angrily, stomping up ahead of you.

You roll your eyes with a laugh, "Alright Sensei."

"What the fuck?" He frowns.

"Let's discuss the tutoring," You say to his back, making funny faces, "When are you free?"

"The sports festival is coming up. I'm hella busy." He grumbles.

"Well- I thought you didn't care about competing with us extras?" You mock with a smirk.

"OF COURSE I DON'T! I'LL BEAT EVERYONE'S ASS!" He screams.

"Well Mr. Confident can make some time to tutor me then, right?"

"Whatever," He shoves his hands into his pockets, back in his usual slanted posture and narrowed eyes.

"Hmmm. Maybe I'll ask Izuku then," You put a fake thinking face on and rub your chin, "He wouldn't hesitate to help-"

"NO WAY IN HELL!" He yells, "MY HOUSE, SUNDAY, AT 2!"

You giggle. Of course Izuku triggers him.

"Yes sir!" Your laughter echoes around the empty neighborhood as you walk behind him, gladthat you found yourself a free smart-ass tutor.
