THERE WILL BE MULTIPLE EPISODES IN THIS CHAPTER

EPISODE IX

Despite having comforted Rebekah after her meltdown, things between her and Madelyn were a little tense. This led to the brunette being pushed out of the Salvatore house and kept in the dark about whatever it is she was planning with the brothers, Elena, and, strangely enough, Mikael.

Madelyn was a little hurt that Rebekah was shutting her out, but she guessed she deserved part of it. With nothing else to do except sulk, Madelyn found herself at the school where everyone was decorating for homecoming. She had remembered Rebekah saying something about it as well as Caroline.

Speak of the devil, Madelyn walked up to the rather upset looking blonde working on painting a van. "What's that look for?"

Caroline sent her an annoyed look. "Tyler is sired to Klaus."

Madelyn smirks. "But that's not what has you upset. Not really, anyway."

Caroline huffed and threw her paintbrush down. "What do you want? To make me feel worse?"

"Don't mean to make you feel bad, love." Madelyn shrugged. "I just had nowhere better to go after being kicked out of my temporary residency until Bekah texts me."

"Kicked out?" Caroline's brows furrow. "Why?"

"Don't know exactly, but I think it has something to do with Klaus."

"Klaus? Is he back?"

"I don't think so. Not yet, anyway," Madelyn said before her phone buzzed. She reached into her pocket and fished out her phone to see a text from Rebekah. "Well, I had a lovely chat, but the queen awaits."

As Madelyn began to walk away, Caroline found herself calling out to her. "Are you coming to the dance?"

Madelyn looked over her shoulder with a small smile. "Don't hold your breath."

~

Madelyn walked through the threshold of the Salvatore house at the same time Elena and Stefan were leaving.

"What are you doing here?" Elena asked with a worried tone as the vampire walked past.

"Rebekah texted. Said she wanted me to help her get ready for the dance," Madelyn replied without turning around, making her way towards the stairs.

As she went to take the first step, there was a sudden body blocking her. "I can't let you do that."

"Why do you care, Stefan? Move." Madelyn shoved him out of the way, walking up a few steps, but he sped right back in front of her. "What is your problem?"

"My problem is you potentially ruining our plan," Stefan said, and before Madelyn could comprehend the underlying threat in his words her neck was snapped and body limp.

~

Madelyn woke up groaning, rubbing her sore neck before noticing the chains on her wrist. She instantly sobered up from her drowsiness, looking around the cellar she appeared to be in, ultimately gasping upon seeing Rebekah's daggered form.

"Rebekah. Bex, can you hear me?" she asked, knowing that there would be no answer but trying anyways.

Her eyes began to water as she stared at the lifeless body of her best friend, not being able to do anything due to the shackles around her wrist. She shouted in frustration, tugging aggressively at her restraints.

"That won't do much," a voice spoke from behind the large metal door. "They're laced with vervain."

Madelyn growled. "Just wait till I get out of here, you obnoxious excuse of a vampire."

Damon only smirked at her from the barred opening in the door. "You won't be leaving anytime soon, I assure you."

"You know, I was willing to work with you—to be on both sides of this war—but you just had to go and fuck everything up, didn't you?" Madelyn said. "Bonnie will hate you more than she already does. She trusts me more than she'll ever trust you."

"Don't worry about playing double agent anymore," Damon said. "There will only be one side left when you're free. And you definitely don't have to worry about Bonnie. She thinks you and Rebekah ditched this town."

Madelyn bit back from what she wanted to say, instead saying, "So what's your plan? To just dry me out? Leave me here to rot until you feel as though you've won?"

"That about covers it, yeah," Damon said.

"Klaus will come, not for me, but for Rebekah," Madelyn said. "That shall be your downfall."

"You're sorely mistaken, sunshine," Damon said. "We plan on killing him tonight."

Madelyn's eyes widened ever so slightly. "You don't realize what will come if you do."

"Nice try," he said, "but you can't scare me. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm already late for the party."

"No, Damon! You have to listen to me! You can't kill Klaus!"

But he was already gone.

EPISODE X

"Thank you for coming," Elena said, opening the door to the Salvatore home for Klaus to enter.

"I trust you have news of Stefan." Klaus walked in not caring that he bumped into the girl before him.

"I couldn't find him. But I have something else," Elena offered.

She led him down to the wine cellar where Madelyn and Rebekah were being kept, unlocking the door they were behind. Klaus followed her in, his eyes immediately falling upon his sister.

Madelyn shifted slightly to see who had entered, shock filling her eyes at Elena willingly letting Klaus in.

"My poor sister," Klaus said, having not noticed the other vampire. "I can't turn my back on her for a moment."

"You have Rebekah, and I'll give you Madelyn too," Elena said, finally making Klaus see the starved vampire chained in the corner. "A deal is a deal."

Klaus looked away from Madelyn, back at Elena. "The life of my sister in exchange for your brother. Yeah, I'd say that's a bargain. Consider him spared."

The hybrid moved to scoop up Rebekah in his arms, leaving the dagger in her back.

"Klaus," Madelyn rasped before he could leave. She knew he wouldn't take her, not wanting to let go of his pride after their fight.

Klaus paused in the doorway.

"Keep Kol in check when you wake him," she said, voice scratchy. She managed a small chuckle. "'Cause who knows how long I'll be down here."

"Don't fret, Maddy. You're much more intelligent than you think." Klaus didn't turn around as he spoke, walking away without looking back.

Elena gave the girl a sympathetic look, but Madelyn didn't want her sympathy. She turned away, leaning her head back on the wall, residing in the same position she'd been in for days, possibly even weeks.

EPISODE XII

Madelyn couldn't help but replay what Klaus had said to her before leaving her a few weeks prior. Was he telling her that she knew how to get out of there on her own? But how?

Maybe she had a chance when she was first imprisoned, but now she was weak. She hadn't had a drop of blood in weeks and the chains keeping her restrained were laced with vervain. She probably hadn't moved from the position she was in for several days.

Footsteps approaching knocked her out of her train of thought. The door to her personal cell opened and in walked Damon.

"Came to have another chat?" she rasped.

"Well, I thought might as well since our last one was so lovely." He pulled a chair into the room, sitting on it backwards.

"Get on with it then."

"The fourth coffin," he said. "What is it?"

"Is it not Rebekah?" Madelyn questioned.

"Rebekah isn't in the coffins," Damon told her.

"Then I don't know," she said before she finally realized what Klaus meant.

"You have to know. You've been Klaus's closest confidante for decades," Damon insisted.

"I-" Madelyn's eyes lit up with false realization. "It can't be."

"What?" Damon asked eagerly, falling for her trap.

"Well, maybe if you unchained me I'd tell you," Madelyn bargained.

Damon rolled his eyes. "Of course. You don't actually know anything."

Madelyn leaned forward, desperate to make him stay and unchain her. "I do, Damon. I have an idea, but I'm not certain."

"Well, I can't let you go off a hunch."

"If my hunch is right then what's in that box is worse than Klaus. Why else would he have locked it away for centuries? Let me go and I can help Bonnie open it and deal with the evil that lay in that coffin."

Damon seemed to contemplate his decision for a while before finally reaching down and ripping the chains off of her.

"Thank you." Madelyn rubbed her wrists before smirking up at the vampire. "But I'm afraid I've lied."

Before Damon could react, she snapped his neck.
