Hi fam, here's a random chapter dedicated to some stuff that's been going on in my life. I consider this book to just be a giant group chat anyways, so imagine that this is what that is. We're just pals catching up💞
Firstly, I've already made a few chapters dedicated to random graphics I've made, but here are some that I've created since then:
I discovered stock photos and kinda went ham LMAO. Everything is off Deviantart, even the png of Shay Mitchell that I used. The blending isn't that great but I think it's okay for my first time ever doing it ??? Also the original stock photo was of a white woman so I had to darken the skin. Fallon is an absolute gem and she deserves more graphics so here I am, providing!!!
This was random, but you know those teaser posters that just have like ... a character silhouette and a date for the movie? That was the concept behind this. They didn't do this for Spider-Man: Homecoming but I can imagine Peter's being his iconic 🤟🏻 thing with his suit on and webs shooting out, plus a tagline of his own. Idk it's weird but it was fun to make (and it's a great visual for her powers since that's how I imagine them to look when I describe her as "pooling energy into her hand" or a "ball of energy" doing something).
Ok now BEFORE YOU YELL AT ME ABOUT VERA'S ABSENCE, I could not find a photo of Aimee that would work for this, so I gave up. I'm surprised that I even managed to find one of Curran. I know he looks broody, but if he was a real character in the show, I can imagine him doing a closed-lipped grin and a peace sign like the true bisexual he is. Then Vera would be next to him, behind Scott in that extra space, beaming at the camera,,, now I'm emotional over them not being real, bye 🏃♀️💨
That's it for the terrible graphics, now moving on to a different topic
Here are some photos of some of the dogs at work because they're ADORABLE.
💘🌸💕💫💖🌈💗🌟💞✨ I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!! Especially the puppies; I love meeting them when they're so little and watching them grow up. We had a mini Australian Labradoodle come in at 3 months and now she's 6 months old???? AND SHE USED TO BE AS SMALL AS THE POMSKY IN THE TOP LEFT PHOTO BUT NOW SHE'S LARGER AND I JUST 😭😭 STOP GROWING UP
On top of school, another reason why updates are kinda slow is because I've been trying to read more. I used to read 30+ books a year back in high school, but now that I'm working and in college, it's a lot harder. Currently I'm at 16 books, which is 6 more than last year, so I'm on a roll!!
I'm currently reading a few books:
1. The Diviners by Libby Bray, which I've been reading since the beginning of the year. It's very slow at the beginning and there's a lot of buildup even though I feel like I should be halfway through the book with how much I've read, so I haven't been feeling very motivated to finish it. I hope I can do it eventually because I have the second book in the series as well and I heard the books are really good! (Progress: 19%)
2. Emma by Jane Austen. I love how I can see the elements that Clueless took from this and how they adapted it to fit the 90s modern day. I'm trying to read more classics, so I bought a few off of ThriftBooks for like $4.50 each. That site is AMAZING for used books for a cheap price! (Progress: 36%)
3. A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas. I've been an ACOTAR fan since 2016 and I devoured the original series, but it's been really hard for me to get through this one, mainly because of its size. It's the size of a refrigerator. Also it doesn't help that I know I own smaller books that I still have to read, so I want to finish those first. (Progress: 22%)
4. The Electric Heir by Victoria Lee. I just started this and I'll explain more about it in a few paragraphs. (Progress: 7%)
Yeah, that's more ongoing books than I'd like to have, but what can ya do when life has ya messed up? I'm just trying to meet my reading goal in any way that I can, and this way, it's faster than trying to drag my way through one of them and going through a reading slump.
My friend told me about this deal where you can get a few months of Kindle Unlimited for free with a Student Prime account, so I started mine in September and honestly ?? it's great for books I don't want to buy/find at the library but still want to read. I've read about 4 books on there so far and though I prefer physical books, it's kinda like reading on Wattpad because you just tap through. Some books have audio narration which helps me get through them because I can listen while doing other stuff!
I just finished The Fever King by Victoria Lee and ???!!! ASKDMSMAKDMAK ???! Holy shit. It's pretty new; it came out in 2019 and the representation is amazing. The main character, Noam, is Jewish, bisexual, Latino, and the son of illegal immigrants, and his male love interest his a man of color as well. Also there's like no fanart for the series so I cry,,, Noam and Dara my loves. The Electric Heir is the sequel and it's extremely,, heavy. There was a warning for child ab*se and s*xual assault at the beginning so! cool!
I also finished As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson yesterday afternoon and DIED (pun intended). It's the final book in the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder trilogy and it was just as fantastic as the others!! I absolutely loved it! Pip Fitz-Amobi and Ravi Singh my beloveds <3
Before that, I read The Handmaid's Tale which was like getting shot at a knife fight. It was not what I expected at ALL; I went in without really knowing it was about and holy crap. This book is way more haunting than I thought it would be. The life that the handmaids are forced to survive in is just... terrible... and it's really eye-opening to see how some people think that repressing women's rights to dress how they want, be with who they want to, own land, etc is somehow "liberating them". I know there's a show and I used to want to watch it, but now that I've read the book, I'm not interested. I looked through the tag on Tumblr and based on the changes that I saw, I think it would just ruin it for me.
You can check out my Goodreads account if you want to stay up to date on what I'm reading and see my book reviews! You can find the link to my account in the carrd linked in my bio :) Feel free to add me as a friend and comment on my stuff! I'd love to know if we agree on points I make in my reviews.
Last week, my friends and I went to a cider mill and my friend took some photos with her camera!!
Here's me:
^Vera Pérez cosplay???????
I also just posted a new board on my Pinterest, and this one is dedicated to my OCs whose stories I have unpublished forever, including my infamous Jack Frost fanfic! It's been so fun to create so far. Not only am I making aesthetics for how they were, but I'm also changing things to how I'd make them if I had written their stories today. Basically I'm just making all of them canon LGBTQ+ and I'm loving it. You can check it out on my account if you want!
I think that's it for my life updates. What's been going on with you guys?? Any news?? I am very interested to hear the tea👀
