--3 years later--
I yawned, wings stretching as I cracked my neck.
"Dazai, you ass!" A voice shouted from the hallway as I sighed.
"Looks who's back from their mission." I muttered as Yosano-san, Kyouka-chan, Naomi and Gin laughed.
"Chuuya-san! It's too early for this! You guys have literally just come back!" I called out just as the door opened, revealing Dazai-san and Chuuya-san, whose face was flushed red.
I frowned but I saw something glint on Chuuya-san's hand and Dazai-san's hand.
A gold wedding band, each on their ring finger.
I dropped the cup of coffee in my hand as everyone else in the cafe also paused, eyes widening in shock.
"No way." I said as I looked at Dazai-san who was howling with laughter.
"You did it?" I asked as Dazai-san nodded.
I ran up to Dazai-san and hugged both of them.
A whole bunch of 'congratulations' echoed around them.
"Oh my god! You actually did it!" I squealed in delight as Chuuya-san pried me off him, scowling.
"You knew?" Chuuya-san asked as I giggled.
"Dazai-san's been planning for months now." I said as Chuuya-san stared at Dazai-san.
"He got shy." I said as Dazai-san scowled at me.
"At least I did it!" Dazai-san said as I laughed and frowned, walking back to my coffee.
What did he mean, "At least I did it?" I thought but shook my head.
"When?" I asked as Dazai-san smiled.
"Two days ago, on the mission." Dazai-san said as I laughed.
I saw Dazai-san frown as he searched the room
"Akutagawa?" Dazai-san asked, looking for the tall male as I smiled.
A lot had happened during these past three years.
Chuuya-san and Akutagawa had both left the Port Mafia and joined the Agency.
It took a lot of convincing to stop Mori-sensei from killing both of them, but after reminding him how I had saved his life, three years ago, he had agreed to let them go.
I shrugged.
"No idea." I said.
"He kinda disappeared." I said as Dazai-san nodded.
I smiled slyly.
"So have you guys thought about adoption?" I asked as Chuuya-san's mouth fell open, face blushing as he walked out of the cafe.
The cold winter air burst in as I shivered, wrapping my coat around myself tighter.
"I've had enough of this! I'm going back to the Port Mafia!" Chuuya-san said as Dazai-san pouted, walking after him.
"But Chuuya~" Dazai-san said as I giggled, watching Chuuya-san smack Dazai-san.
I brewed another cup of coffee and walked over to Kyouka-chan, Naomi, Yosano-san and Gin.
Even Gin had joined the Agency after her brother had left too.
I sighed as I plopped down next to them, wings disappearing so I could fit in.
"Where's your boyfriend?" Naomi asked, smiling as I rolled my eyes.
It's been three years since we've been dating, and the girls couldn't help but always tease me about it.
I gave Naomi a face.
"He's disappeared into thin air." I said sarcastically as Kyouka-chan giggled.
Kyouka-chan had chopped her hair shorter, so it hung right below her shoulders.
Her cute face had matured and she looked more like a woman.
She had grown so much taller.
"Where's Tanizaki?" I asked as Naomi huffed out.
"He's with Atsushi-kun, Kenji-kun, and Akutagawa, overlooking a mission." Naomi said as I frowned.
"So that's where Akutagawa had disappeared off to." I muttered.
"What mission?" I asked as Naomi shrugged.
"He didn't tell me, but he said it was really important." Naomi said as I slowly nodded, blowing on my hot cup of coffee.
"Wait, did you say that Atsushi-kun is also there?" I asked as Naomi nodded.
"Huh." I said. "So they finally gonna admit being friends?" I asked as everyone laughed.
I laughed. "What?" I asked.
"I've had enough of listening to them bicker for three years." I said as Yosano-san scoffed.
"You think we haven't gotten tired of it too?" She asked as I shrugged.
I looked at Gin, who's hair was down, and had a sly look on her face.
I frowned at her. "Is something wrong?" I asked as Gin smiled at me, sweetly.
"No, nothing at all." Gin said as I raised a skeptical brow.
"Well, I need to go to the mall." I announced, standing up after drinking my coffee.
"Anyone else keen to go?" I asked as Naomi smiled, jumping up and down excitedly.
"Oh! Me!" She said as I laughed.
I didn't see Yosano-san, Kyouka-chan and Gin glance at each over briefly.
"Do you need to go to the mall today?" Kyouka-chan asked as I frowned.
"Well, I was planning on buying some clothes since my others got ruined on a mission." I said, walking over to place my cup in the sink.
"I already ordered them, just need to go pick them up." I explained.
"I'll go get them." Yosano-san said as I frowned, laughing.
"No, it's fine. I can get them myself." I said but Yosano-san gave me a glare.
"No, I'll buy them for you." She said as she stood up.
I raised my hands, surrendering.
"Okay." I said, confused.
"I'll go with you, Yosano-san." Naomi said, cheerfully.
Kyouka-chan stood up, "Why don't we do something, onee-chan?" Kyouka-chan asked.
I thought for a minute before snapping my fingers.
"How about we go for get some cake? Surprise Dazai-san and Chuuya-san when they come back as a small celebration." I said as Kyouka-chan nodded.
"Wanna come, Gin?" I asked, looking back at her as she nodded.
"Sure." Gin said as she got up.
Kyouka-chan and Gin grabbed their coats as I waited by the door.
We stepped outside, coldness hitting me like a truck as I wrapped my scarf around my neck.
"Anyone know any fancy bakeries?" I asked as Gin nodded.
"I saw one when I was on a mission once." Gin said as I smiled.
"Lead the way." I said as Gin laughed.
As we were walking, it started to snow as I blinked.
"It's snowing." I said as Kyouka-chan chuckled.
"I didn't realise, onee-chan." She said, voice hinting sarcasm as I scowled at her.
"We should all go skating. I want to skate again." I said as Gin and Kyouka-chan glanced at each other again.
"Come on." I said as we walked again.
We made out way to the bakery and sighed in relief as we walked into to the toasty room.
I saw a bunch of boys there, looking at us.
I smirked as I leaned close to Gin and Kyouka-chan.
"So anyone you have your eyes set on?" I asked as both of them turned to look at the boys staring at us.
They looked like they were close in early twenties, maybe even teenagers.
Gin scoffed as she walked over to the cake displays.
Kyouka-chan lingered, as I saw her stare at one of the boys, who looked around nineteen.
He had black hair and grey eyes. He looked sweet and blushed as he met gazes with Kyouka-chan.
I swung an arm over Kyouka-chan's shoulder.
"Ohh. Someones blushing." I said as I saw Kyouka-chan's cheek turn light pink.
"It's nothing." Kyouka-chan said as I laughed.
I walked over to the boy, ignoring the others.
"What's your name?" I asked as the boy looked at me and swallowed.
"Mukami Ayato." The boy replied as I laughed.
"That's Kyouka-chan." I said as I pointed to her.
Kyouka-chan's eyes widened in shock as she turned away, blushing.
"Pass me your phone." I said, while laughing as Ayato frowned.
He gave me his phone as I added a new contact.
I typed in Kyouka-chan's phone number and gave him a smile.
"That's her number." I said as Ayato blinked in surprise.
"She's free most days." I said as I started to walk off but one of the boys stopped me.
"Can I have your number?" One of the older boys asked as I chuckled.
"Sorry, I have a boyfriend." I said as I walked over to Kyouka-chan.
"See, that wasn't too hard." I said as Kyouka-chan stared at me in awe and shock.
Suddenly, Kyouka-chan's phone vibrated as she pulled it out and saw the unknown number.
I saw Ayato had rung her as he hung up and texted her, Save my number, my names Mukami Ayato.
I smiled as Kyouka-chan's eyes widened in shock.
"Okay, have fun with him." I said as I walked over to Gin who was staring at the cakes.
"Which one?" I asked as Gin contemplated for a second.
"That one." She said, pointing to the matcha cake.
"Can we have that one, please?" I asked the girl nodded and placed the cake in the box.
I payed for the cake, Gin grabbing the box as we walked out of the store.
"Well that went well." I said as we walked in the chilly weather.
"We got a cake and Kyouka-chan might get herself a boyfriend." I said as Kyouka-chan blushed.
"Who is he?" Gin asked as Kyouka-chan dropped her head.
"Ayato-kun. He's eighteen." Kyouka-chan said as I nodded.
"A year older, that's good." I said as Gin nodded in agreement.
We walked back to the Agency, trembling as we entered the warm building.
"It's so cold outside." I complained as Gin went to place the cake back in the fridge.
I saw that the cafe was empty, so I assumed that the boys were still out on their so called 'important mission' and Yosano-san and Naomi had gone to pick up my clothes from the mall.
"What should we do now?" I asked as Kyouka-chan thought.
"We have some paperwork to do." She said as I sighed.
"All right." I said as I opened the door to the back and climbed the stairs.
"Paperwork, my ass." I muttered as I opened the door and blinked in shock as I saw Dazai-san and Chuuya-san in the office.
Their clothes were wrinkled and out of place, both of them were both panting as I blinked.
"You know what." I said as I slowly closed the door again.
"Paperwork can wait." I said as I closed the door.
I coughed trying to cover my laugh but I heard Chuuya-san growl from inside.
Chuuya-san stormed over to the door and yanked it back open as I couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"I-I won't tell anyone!" I yelled in between laughs as Chuuya-san glared at me.
"Why does she have to be such an inconvenience?" Chuuya-san asked, looking back at Dazai-san as I lay on the floor, struggling to breathe.
"We bought you cake." I said after getting my breathing under control, Chuuya-san scowling.
"Stupid annoying y/n." Chuuya-san muttered as he walked downstairs.
I smirked, looking at Dazai-san, who's hair was messy.
"You might want to straighten your hair out." I said as Dazai-san flushed red as well.
I laughed as Dazai-san mumbled something under his breath as he walked out the office.
"You should go do it somewhere else!" I shouted as silence rang before I heard a loud crash.
"Oh! That's it! Y/n, come here!" Chuuya-san yelled as I winced.
"Oops, I forgot that I have to go somewhere!" I yelled out as I opened the window and leapt down.
A few civilians cried out in surprise as I dropped from above.
I shivered as I rubbed my hands together.
"Sorry." I apologised as everyone resumed their morning as normal as I ran away from Chuuya-san's threats echoing.
I walked over to a park and sat down on the frozen bench as I pulled out my phone and plugged some earphones in and played my songs.
I sighed, white cloud coming out of my mouth as I smiled.
I stayed in the park for about an hour, just listening to my songs as I waited for Chuuya-san's temper to cool off.
Maybe I should just chuck him outside? I thought to myself but laughed.
Not even this weather could cool Chuuya-san. I thought as I stood up.
It was only 12:38 but hopefully Chuuya-san was either all calm, or had left.
I was getting too cold and I wanted to go back in.
I walked back over to the Agency, the bell indicating I was back.
I saw that Yosano-san and Naomi were also back, both of them speaking with Kyouka-chan and Gin as I snuck in.
"Is Chuuya-san gone?" I asked as they all turned to me.
"He left about half an hour ago." Gin replied as I sighed out in relief and shrugged my snow-coated coat, hanging it on the coat hanger.
"It's freezing out there." I complained as I sunk down next to Kyouka-chan.
"Why did Chuuya-san get so mad at you?" Kyouka-chan asked as I smirked.
"I can't say or else I'm really dead." I said as everyone laughed.
"Typical y/n." Yosano-san said as we laughed.
The rest of the day sped off pretty quickly, mostly just talking and paperwork.
I sighed as I slumped on my desk.
I lifted my phone.
5:58.
I groaned as concern slightly filled me.
The boys had been gone since the morning and still hadn't returned.
I shook my head.
They're probably being stupid. I thought to myself
I walked down to the cafe, stretching my limbs.
"Damn, I hate reports." I muttered to myself as I brewed myself another cup of coffee.
The cafe was empty as the others had left as well.
It was only me in the Agency.
Rampo-san and Kunikida-san had gone to investigate a mystery somewhere around noon.
The boys, no idea where they were.
The girls, they seemed a bit suspicious when they left too.
I sighed as I sat down, staring into the sky.
It had already grown dark, street lights illuminating the night.
I smiled as I stared into the sky.
Suddenly, the door smashed open as I jumped up, almost spilling my coffee.
Atsushi-kun panted as he scanned the cafe, eyes landing on me.
"Atsushi-kun?" I asked as I didn't see anyone else behind him.
"Where's everyone else?" I asked as Atsushi-kun stared at me.
"Akutagawa's been captured." Atsushi-kun said as my eyes widened in shock.
"What?" I asked as I stood up.
"We were on a mission, and we were ambushed. I only escaped." Atsushi-kun said as I frowned.
"How? When?" I asked as I grabbed my black coat, opening the door to the back.
"We don't know who it is." Atsushi-kun said, following me up the stairs, leading to the roof.
I shrugged my coat on and I opened the door to the roof and let my wings grow out through the specially made slits.
The cold breeze ruffling my white-black feathers.
I pulled open the shed containing weapons as I strapped them on.
"Where is he?" I asked.
Atsushi-kun told me the coordinates.
"He's being held hostage next to a river?" I asked as Atsushi-kun nodded.
I groaned.
"Bastards, it's too cold for this." I mumbled out as I ran over to the edge of the roof.
"Stay here in case any of the others return and tell them what's happened." I said as I saw Atsushi-kun nod.
I leapt off the roof, wings snapping open as I soared higher.
I flew towards the coordinated, I saw the huge river, which had been frozen from the cold weather.
Next to it, I saw an abandoned dock with a building, people all clad in black standing behind it as I barrelled towards it.
I slammed down onto the ground, wings in front of me, unfurling to their full length.
The people in front of me all had helmets over their heads so I couldn't see them.
"Where are they?" I asked coldly, venom lacing my words as I grabbed my daggers.
The people in black didn't move as I smirked.
"You have the count to three." I said as I pulled out my throwing knifes, each in between my fingers.
"One." I said as they didn't move, their guns trained at me.
"Two." I said slowly as I tensed ready to lunge but a voice stopped me.
"Always with the dramatic entrance, aren't you?" A very familiar voice said as I frowned, pausing.
"Akutagawa." I asked just as Akutagawa stepped forward from behind the men, completely untouched.
He wore his usual coat and was wearing a white shirt and black pants.
"What?" I asked just as the men in black moved.
They all took their helmets off as I laughed, each of them revealing my friends.
"Are you kidding me?" I asked as I scoffed.
"Is this what you three," I said as I turned to Yosano-san, Kyouka-chan and Gin.
"Were hiding all day?" I asked as they laughed.
"We couldn't tell Naomi because she can't keep secrets." Gin said as I laughed again.
Akutagawa stepped forward, as I laughed again.
I watched as all my friends left, giving Akutagawa and myself some privacy.
"Is this where you were all day?" I asked as Akutagawa shrugged.
"Maybe." He replied, smiling as I laughed.
"Well, it must be something big if you made everyone come here." I said.
"It is our third year anniversary." Akutagawa said as I smiled.
I shook my head. "I didn't think you'd care." I said as Akutagawa grabbed me by the waist.
"When it comes to you, I always care." Akutagawa said as I blushed.
"Shut up." I said as Akutagawa laughed.
I paused. "So you made me come all the way here, in the cold, to tell me that it's our third year anniversary?" I asked.
I scoffed. "I came all the way here because I thought you were in trouble." I said as Akutagawa laughed.
I scowled, hitting Akutagawa in the arm.
"I even brought all my weapons." I complained as Akutagawa chuckled.
"No, actually, there's more." He said as he grabbed my hand, taking me to the abandoned dock.
I gasped as I saw the frozen lake, where there were candles set out.
Akutagawa walked me to the lake.
"I thought you might want to go for a skate." Akutagawa said as I scoffed, laughing.
"No wonder I rejected a guy who asked for my number." I said as I saw Akutagawa tense, jealousy filling his eyes.
"When did this happen?" He asked, voice hard as I laughed.
"Don't worry, nothing happened." I said as I sat on the snow and pulled my combat boots off, grabbing the skates and put them on.
After tying up the laces I smiled and stood on the frozen lake.
"Come on." I said as Akutagawa smiled, shaking his head as he also put on some skates.
I took off all my weapons as Akutagawa put his skates on, leaving them in a pile.
Akutagawa laughed, looking at all my weapons.
"You sure did bring a lot." He said as I scowled.
"Hey, I thought I was saving everyone from a big gang or something, how could I not?" I asked as Akutagawa laughed and stood up, kissing me on the forehead.
"Let's go." He said as I blushed.
Akutagawa skated as I rolled my eyes.
However, soon I was laughing as I skated beside Akutagawa.
"I've never asked, where did you learn to skate?" Akutagawa asked as I skated backwards, smiling.
"Moriai-san took me skating once, to improve my balance." I said as the wind ruffled my feathers.
"Went for a few years." I explained as Akutagawa stared at me.
"Where did you learn to skate?" I asked as Akutagawa continued to stare at me.
I skated towards him, pulling his arms.
Akutagawa didn't answer my question as he continued to stare at me as I laughed.
"Y/n." Akutagawa finally said, voice soft as we skated together.
I smiled at him. "Hmm?" I asked, enjoying the night.
"Will you marry me?" He asked as I was taken aback by the sudden question.
I stumbled, tripping over.
I made us both fall as Akutagawa fell over me his arm slamming next to my head, to keep himself up.
"What?" I asked, breath hitching as I stared at Akutagawa.
"Will you marry me?" Akutagawa asked again as I was rendered frozen in shock.
I was silent as Akutagawa awaited my answer.
I stared into his steel grey eyes, as I thought.
Marry? At 21? I exclaimed to myself.
But then I thought about everything we had gone through as I swallowed back and looked at Akutagawa, smiling.
"Yes." I said, this time, Akutagawa's turn to blink in surprise.
"What?" Akutagawa whispered out as I laughed.
"Yes." I repeated again as Akutagawa's eyes searched mine as he leaned down and kissed me.
I kissed him back, hands wrapping around the back of his neck.
We pulled back as Akutagawa stared at me.
He pushed himself upright and offered a hand for me.
I took it, Akutagawa pulling me up as he also pulled the glove off my hand and placed a ring of my finger.
I blinked in surprise as Akutagawa smirked at me.
"Did you think I would propose without having a ring?" Akutagawa asked as I smiled and pulled on the front of his coat, pulling him back down.
After more kissing and skating, we finally went back to the Agency.
Everyone was inside as we walked in.
"I assume it ended well." Yosano-san said as I laughed, lifting my hand to show them the ring on my finger.
Naomi ran forward, squealing in delight as she stared at the ring.
"It's beautiful!" She said as I laughed.
"Get yourself a boyfriends and you'll get one too." I said as Naomi giggled.
"I'll just as Nii-san to buy me one." Naomi said as I chuckled.
"So, we sister-in-laws?" I asked to Gin who smiled at me.
"Yes we are." She said as I smiled.
I looked around and saw Chuuya-san and Dazai-san also there as I walked over to them.
"Had any fun?" I asked as Chuuya-san scowled.
"So Akutagawa had the guts to propose." Chuuya-san stated.
"Took him a while." He said as I laughed, "Dazai-san also took a while." I said as Chuuya-san scowled.
We all celebrated, eating the matcha cake that I had bought.
"Cheers to Dazai-san and Chuuya-san!" I said as I raised my glass, everyone doing the same.
Chuuya-san scowled as he rolled his eyes.
"Cheers to you annoying couple too." Chuuya-san said as I laughed.
Akutagawa pulled me in close, kissing me on the lips as my insides went warm.
I closed my eyes as I smiled against his lips.
I would do anything for Akutagawa. He was all I lived for.
I remembered the first time I had met Akutagawa.
We had almost killed each other.
A lot has changed since then.
At first... he was a rival.
Now... he was the man I was willing to give everything up for.
