Yona POV
As I knocked on Karl's door, I heard a " Come in". I slightly opened the door to find Karl busy, looking over documents that were spread over his table. him wearing gold-rimmed glasses over his eyes, letting his long hair down. As the sunlight bathed him, he looked handsome, like a work of art.
I agree that he looks pretty, but looking handsome doesn't change someone's character. He is still that someone who made people's life horrible. if the real Cordelia for here, she would have been pleased seeing this but not me. with an uninterested look, I asked,
"so what did you call me for?"
with that, Karl lifted his head up to look at me, he had a surprised look on his face. Ahhhh I already knew why this annoying guy didn't even knew it was me till the time I spoke. seriously!!
with a huff-puff, and a glare in my eyes, I spoke again, " what do you want now?"
He removed his golden rims and spoke with a smirk on his face, "I called for you to talk something important".
and I was like what? important? now, these days do people talk important with a smirk on their face?
I spoke with an annoyed expression on my face which clearly tells that I am annoyed, "what is it?". He looked me in the eyes with that annoying smirk and said, " Do you know Duchess Romane? She is having a tea party".
And I was like what? who now? I searched my brain for this name, from my memory of the game to the information I got here. Before I could even ask who the heck this was? He again spoke at full speed.
"Since you have not attended any tea parties for a long time, you should go as my wife". Now that smirk of his turned into a smile. Now wait for a minute man, let me speak. just as I had finally decided to try to speak again he again for heck's sake interrupted me.
"I am not asking you, I am telling you. Now you should get going, I have work to do. Be prepared for the tea party, it is in 4 days. I will let you use my carriage." He said cunningly with a playful smile, In truth, he was playing with me from the start since he didn't even give me the damn chance to speak. Now I understood what he wanted, He wanted to let me know about this without letting me question. This bastard!
And before I knew it, I was standing outside the door. My head was about to open up, this man is definitely a mental case. He didn't even give me the chance to say yes or no. And now I have No idea what just happened but I know I am going to an unknown women's party in 4 days, WOW! just wow!
With that, I sighed and decided to retire back to my room for today, since my good day has become worse, let's just end it here. I returned back to my room to see my three lovely children sleeping beside each other on my bed. through in the start, the maid made them sleep in their crib but then I made her stop that and made my kids sleep with me. In the end, they are just newborn children, how can they sleep without their mom.
Since the time I came here, the maids always wanted to bathe me. In truth, all the noblewomen here don't bathe by themselves but by maids. In the end, it is more like the European era, where the upper class doesn't do anything but is served by the lower class and I was like, what is this? privacy invasion and discrimination too. Anyway, since Cordelia bathed like that, that's why maids thought of bathing me. So you see, since start I have bathed myself.
With that, I took my blue nightgown in hand and went for a bath, before sleeping. In the end, I needed to relax myself from all that non-sense I heard from Karl, even though I need to accept it tomorrow. So I will just chill. After bathing for like 10 mins, I hurriedly wrapped the towel around myself and changed my clothes fast, since the kids would be scared if they woke up from the sound of the shower in the middle of the night and didn't find me.
As I opened the door to the bathroom and entered the room with a towel wrapped around my hair, I saw Laito looking at me, as our eyes met. His green eyes met my green ones. I was surprised seeing him awake and top up of all he was not crying for the first time. Otherwise, whenever I was not around he would always cry, and also the other two would do too.
with a surprised expression, I asked, "why are you awake Laito? Did the shower wake you up?"
Laito tilted his head up and looked and me curiously and after some time nodded his head. I looked over the other two, checking if they were also awake by the sound of the shower. fortunately, they were asleep. I dried my hair with the towel as I spoke again, " You should have gone back to sleep, Were you waiting for Mama?"
Just as I asked that he nodded his head fast. I chuckled at that, I smiled. I dropped the towel on the chair and sat on the bed beside Laito. Picked up him and sat him on my lap.
"My baby, Mama is so happy that you waited for mama. Now that Mama is back we can go to sleep just like your brothers are sleeping. Do you want to sleep with your brother's Na?"
He happily looked at me but when I mentioned his brothers, he shook his head. I was surprised but then chuckled and spoke again, " don't you want to sleep with your brothers?"
He again shook his head, In truth, I was amused for a sec there. I chuckled and said, " it can't be that my dear baby wants to sleep with mama?". At that, he nodded his head.
"Ok if Laito wants to sleep with mama then, let's sleep but of course your mama can't forget your brothers, they are also my babies".
At that Laito huffed and puffed, trying to show his anger. I smiled and squashed his cheeks and kissed his forehead. He was surprised. With that I pulled him towards myself and of course did not forget my other two. I pulled the three to myself and laid on the bed. I was sleeping on the right while the kids were on my left. Laito, Ayato and Kanto in line order. As I hugged the three I sighed and felt relief from the hug. I slowly closed my eyes, As I was tired and ended the eventful day.
The next day, the first thing I did was to go to Beatrix and ask about this unknown woman and what I got from her was that this woman was quite famous since she was a widow, her husband had died fighting Karl before he had sat on the throne. So they both have cold blood in between them.
I am sure this woman was pretty insignificant to the story, seeing that she was not even introduced in the anime or the game. But truly I have no choice but to meet this woman. I guess that's why this was important for Karl. So when I told her about the tea party, she was surprised,
"out of all three, we have never gone to her party. Since her husband died, she asked Lord Karl for the honor for her husband by taking the duchess name, the nobles were busy supporting her, Lord Karl had no choice but to agree to it. Since she and Lord Karl are like enemies, we never went to any of her parties nor got invitations, but it seems like Lord Karl is trying to make peace with her by sending you"
when I heard, This I was sure this Karl, was trying to make me the piece of goat for sacrifice. Now I didn't even know what that woman would do to me in revenge for Karl, but please let me ask, why me? He gave me the reason that I haven't attended any parties for the time I was pregnant so what now makes me a sacrifice for not attending?
Now I definitely knew that I didn't wanted to go, but I had no choice, so what can I do? But go and fight that women than becoming a sacrifice. With that, I started preparing for the damn tea party. While of course, I left to dress and jewelry selection to Beatrix and Christa to prepare but I was preparing myself mentally.
I decided to be cautious of her of course. Now those 4 days became 1 day. I was already prepared for the battlefield. I can't die there, I have to return for my kids, with that determination I got dressed for the tea party, wore a light green dress with flowers decorated on it and black heels.
I decided to leave the kids with Beatrix since it would be safer to be with Beatrix than be in that woman's party. Even though the kids did not want to part with me, but what choice did we have?
After getting ready myself, I rode the carriage. Before leaving, Beatrix bid me farewell while in truth, inside I was totally crying. I waved at Beatrix as the carriage moved. I settled in my seat, prepared myself mentally and while the whole trip I was much more busy thinking, I did not even realize when we reached the destination.
As I came out of the carriage, my eyes moved towards the mansion in front of me. It had red bricks. There were attended on standby for me. Just as I set foot, The attended standing closest to me came forward and spoke, "Welcome to Lady Romane's Mansion, Lady Cordelia".
I nodded at him, he then held his hand out to me. I looked at his hand, asking with my eyes, what it was for?
He spoke, " My Lady, Now I will lead you to the venue area for the tea party." I nodded and followed him form before then taking his hand. He was a little surprised but then recovered and moved ahead.
Now, since I already know I have changed the storyline, I don't know where it's going to go, how all-new characters are coming to life, and what other things are left for me to overcome but I know one thing got to move forward. For my children, the story, other characters, and for myself.
With that in mind, I made my way to the new unknown battlefield, which I am yet to encounter.
