How last night ended wasn’t the smartest move coming from Minju,
She really had to dump all of that information to Chaewon who was having so much fun with her last night,
From their small incident right before they met,
When a cat jumped on her lap back at the animal shelter,
When they almost slept on each other’s shoulder on their way to the stadium,
Chaewon mistakenly ordering cheese flavored powdered donuts that was supposed to be cinnamon sugar,
Yes lots of things wasn’t the bare minimum which was great,
And the minimal incidents were the things that made their date more extraordinary,
For someone who hasn’t been out on a date since a batchmate tried taking you out back in college.
Chaewon’s response to what was Minju’s try in bringing up the past,
Was the nicest thing Minju thought could be a reaction to what she said,
It wasn’t the lightest baggage someone could catch in their arms and her asking if she could walk her until their house,
Was been the greatest reaction Chaewon had with what happened but when they did reach her house up the steep staircase,
Minju wasn’t ready with what could happen by the time they reach her very humble and cozy home.
“Do you want to see the stars with me tomorrow? I know a good place that has clearer skies.”
The unguarded and open ground Minju leaped onto just managed to balance itself with Chaewon’s weight adding i,
And with that very risky and explorative approach on something Minju just wanted to do for tonight,
Isn’t how she thought their night would end.
Chaewon’s the person who only backs out of a situation if her ego can’t handle it anymore,
Or if it hits home too close that she feels like one more nitpick coming at her would make her crumble into pieces,
So when Minju thought that she’ll just say goodbye to her when they arrived in front of her house,
She never really got to this option of an ending and it took her into a surprise she has never thought that would happen.
“I’ll see what I can do.”
Was the last thing she said to Chaewon last night before she watched her wander back down,
To the flat ground for her to get home and when Minju went through their gates right after she physically saw her disappear from the corner,
She went straight into their room where her sister was unaware of everything happening,
And that was the start of her mind pondering whether she should come with her or not,
It’s like they just went on a date today and they’ll be going to another one tomorrow?
Like literally,
She just spent half the day with her earlier and now she may not even be able to sleep,
Thinking what she should do since she doesn’t want to disappoint her with saying no after what she did earlier in their walk,
What is she supposed to do now?
Ask her sister to come with her to turn things up a notch too?
Deny that she’s not ready for another date and say that she just wants to spend the rest of the weekend in?
But it is true that throughout all the things they did earlier when they were out and about,
Exploring different places so they could do what Chaewon had in mind,
If there was one thing that Minju’s eyes always caught itself on to,
It would have to be Chaewon’s smiles and grins that would appear on given times,
Whenever she feels the serotonin entering her body with whatever it is that made her feel that way,
Even if it wasn’t Minju making her feel that happy and alive earlier when they were petting cats,
Striking baseballs,
Eating hotdogs on their seats,
Or maybe even when Chaewon called her frantically because she didn’t know how to load her subway card,
Minju’s not certainly sure if she was smiling by that moment but when they did see each other in the café she was waiting at for the first time today,
Chaewon’s smile couldn’t be anymore brighter than how it was when they would see each other after classes,
While the bell was ringing and multiple crowds were contradicting the way they were going,
The stairs on the left side of the school was closer than their gates but the right one was more quiet and spacious,
That’s why they always went down on that side of the building.
If you have to blame something here for making Minju do that so abruptly,
It’s got to be nostalgia, remembrance and regret in a one whole deal of ‘buy one get two’ package that Minju’s inner self could never really leave out on any of her past histories with anything,
It’s like she’s a moving loophole always having those three concepts within her past that makes her doubtful of everything.
The reason she knows back then of what they moved away was that their dad did something,
That made Chaewon’s family go hostile and pushed them to move out of their house for their sake and with enough money given to them,
They did.
That was the talk going around the flow back then and Minju kept hating on them because of their ‘rich power’
That made them leave out of that perfectly good place surrounded with perfectly good neighbors and facilities anyone who has a family deserved to have.
Yet when Minju and her mom got to drink together for the first time ever since she was given the responsibility to do so,
Truth started leaking out and with every little detail making its way out of her mom’s mouth,
Minju started taping things together and that’s how it led to her hating her dad through the fact that,
If it wasn’t for him then she wouldn’t be alive right now at all,
Even if you tell her that dads are the person that you need whenever you need to act tough in life,
Or if you need someone to protect you when things get nasty in life because of something that makes human go to their extreme measures,
She promised herself that she would never want to face him again because of what he did to Chaewon’s family,
And Chaewon herself because they were both just dumb and stupid teenagers back then yet he had the audacity to do that,
It was so inhumane and unethical and that was enough for her to end her connection with their dad permanently.
Yeah, Minju blindly made a decision the same night she remembered everything that made this situation as hard it is for her right now,
With the nostalgia making her regret why she even thought like that when she didn’t even know their side on the fight,
Because of the instincts ‘family first’ kicking in on a young and foolish 16 year old Kim Minju making her opinion strong,
That it was the other family’s fault that led things to her dad fortunately filing a divorce with their mom,
And her brother moving out as soon as he turned 20 to “live life at its fullest” with his dumb and irresponsible friends back at who knows where,
Minju lived with men treating her like a piece of sh*t that’s why she never stopped knowing what really was the reason behind all of this,
And now that Chaewon really is back in her life and is connected with her at a closer distance than how it was back then,
She wants to know her side of the story,
Her family’s side of the fight and what the whole big picture really is so she could at least alter how she remembers the whole thing,
To be an equal and balanced memory so once she gets older and is craving to go back to the past,
She can either remember it as how her childhood best friend was kicked out of her life due to an abrupt situation,
Or how she and her girlfriend separated back at their teenage days because of a stupid dumb fight between their families.
Yes, in short,
She agreed to Chaewon’s offer to see the stars tomorrow night on a place with a clearer view as she said in their 5-minute call before they slept,
She swears that where they would be going is gonna be worth it to see all the stars and even the moon shine bright at night,
With her right beside Minju just like how she wished it to be,
Minju just needs to go around Chaewon to know about the past then she’ll be settled with making decision her way,
Without feeling guilty over anything that can make the whole scene pounce right back at her once things come right back at her way.

“Hey.”
Seeing Chaewon after receiving her text 10 minutes ago saying that she was close to reaching her already,
It’s a hassle that you need to either go down or up on the staircase that leads to Minju’s house,
But you can either see it like an exercise before meeting someone living near the top,
Or it may be the trouble you need to go through first,
Before meeting the person that would most likely give meaning and worth to the more than 20 steps you took before their house.
“You ready?”
“Aren’t you tired?”
The two asked each other once Chaewon reached the entrance to Minju’s house,
She went back to their porch to grab her pretty packed back pack since she didn’t want to borrow anything from Chaewon,
That may end up with her looking like she’s already that comfortable with her and though she really is,
She’s not the kind who'll borrow an extra shirt just because she forgot to pack an extra one in case of coffee spillage.
“Remind me why do we need to spend a night over wherever it is you are taking me to?”
“The stars are prettier early in the morning so I’ll just wake you up when they’re shining bright already if ever you fall asleep.”
Grabbing the other bag Minju was holding so she could help her with her baggage on their way down the steps,
She’s not in the mood to see her roll down a staircase right now that they’re travel will still be an hour or two,
And it’s already 3:30 pm which makes sense if they arrive there with the dark already tailing the car their riding.
“Please tell me that you didn’t rent any kind of hotel room or a house at somewhere just for us to see the stars.”
“I didn’t I promise.”
“Oh right, I got you this.”
Chaewon said while she was getting something out of her back pocket that Minju carefully watched just to see what it was she got for her,
The iconic red packaging and the illustration her hand barely covered was already indented onto Minju’s mind,
So when she reached out her hand to take it off hers,
She already knew what it was but does not know why she got her this and in all other means,
It does seem really cute that Chaewon wanted to give her something so simple like it.
“A Choco pie?”
“Yes, you don’t like Choco pie?”
“No, I do actually, thank you”
Smiling at each other with very similar thoughts going on each other’s mind,
Minju feels like Chaewon just gave her a piece of her heart with this Choco pie as a resemblance and if it is something like that for her,
She’ll surely be grateful for receiving this piece of artificial pastry from someone who loves it as much as she does.
“Let’s go?”
“Seonhwa!”
“What!”
“I’m going!”
“Then go!”
Smiling at Minju and her sister’s way of treating each other,
It’s very much like her and her brother’s ‘siblingship’ back when she was still living at the same house as him and now,
She misses her brother because of Minju.
That’s great,
When you’re together you don’t want to see each other’s faces but when you’re not,
You always want to see their irritating grin and have their presence near yours.
“It sounds like you get along with each other pretty well.”

“Unnie?”
“I told you not to call me that.”
The two sitting at the back of the car since Chaewon didn’t want to leave Minju alone on the duration of their trip,
They are going there using her family’s car right now since she told her brother about it,
And he gave her the keys last night too when he was all alone in the house since her mom was somewhere out again and their dad was nowhere to be found,
He said that it wouldn’t hurt for her to spend at least a night there since she is a part of the family too,
Heecheol offered to drive them there but Chaewon sticked with their driver since she wants them to be alone there when night timr arrives.
“I can’t help myself”
“Fine, what is it?”
“Where are we going?”
Diverting her attention away from her phone to Minju’s face due to the tone she used with that question she fired directly to Chaewon’s way,
She doesn’t look that bad for someone who did just ask where they are going cause only thing she knows,
Is that Chaewon didn’t let her help with anything and she knows what the hell she can do thanks to her family’s status in life.
“My family’s beach house near Eunwangri, are you not okay with that?”
“No, I just wanted to know.”
Avoiding Chaewon’s eyes to look outside the window onto the highway their passing by right now,
Minju gets that Chaewon wanted to fulfill what she wanted last night,
But she could’ve just went with her onto some park back at town and not go somewhere she’s not even aware of,
Well there is a good side to this,
It’s her family’s house,
There must be some memories made here and she could get Chaewon talking about what she wants to know.
“You and your family spend summer there?”
“Yeah, whenever mom has a clear schedule back then, we would go there to spend a week or so.”
“How did that turn out?”
“Mostly me, my mom and my brother hanging out with each other.
"Our dad never really chose to go there to cool off the same way as us since he just watched movies or sleept in their room.”
Feeling bad after asking that question since it ended in a not good way for most people’s opinions,
Minju looked back at Chaewon to see a smile in her face as if she already remembered all the times they spent there as a whole family,
Maybe not with her dad but that still counts since his presence was there with them on vacation.
“Sunsets are great there, I promise you that”
“I believe your words.”
