—ORDER OF ARREST—

Me and Alec stood together, just...content.
"I'm sorry." Lydia apologised, looking between me and Alec. I glanced at Alec before frowning at the blonde.
"For...?" I hesitantly asked before Lydia walked away from us...and went towards Izzy.
"Isabelle Lightwood, by order of the Clave, you are under arrest for high treason."
"No." I gasped out, bringing a hand to my mouth as i comprehended the information given.
"What? On what grounds?" Alec asked, fuming a little, as he placed a hand on my shoulder comfortingly.
"Only a handful of people knew about the Meliorn op. And only three people knew that Verena was given a sedative to knock her out." I saw Izzy gulped and i stared at the ground. I counted the number of toes i had. Anything to get out of the awkwardness. Alec was conflicted, i knew that much. He was pissed that Lydia was arresting his sister, and he was confused on why i had been sedated. "Isabelle, you were with Jace when he gave her the sedative."
"And everyone knows she's sleeping with him." I almost physically growled at Raj, wanting to give him a good right hook, but i decided against it.
"You know what, Lydia? You're no better than Valentine." Izzy spat. "But at least he had the guts to tell Downworlders to their faces he wanted them all dead. You hide behind the Law."
"I don't hide behind it, Isabelle. I simply follow it. Because it guards against one very important thing. Shadowhunters fighting other Shadowhunters." Lydia explained and i grimaced at her.
"If she's convicted, she'll be stripped of her runes and banished. I can't let that-" Alec was cut off by Izzy, who had given her stele to Raj.
"Don't." She sharply said. "It's not your fight."
"Izzy, no!" I yelled a little loudly, going towards her. "No...no, you can't go." I said. I felt like i was losing a piece of me. Even though the actual ceremony hasn't happened, sometimes it felt like Izzy really was my parabatai.
She was best friend.
Even if she sedated me. Well, to be fair, it wasn't her. It was Jace. I went to say something but Izzy smiled slighly at me. She got taken away by Raj, and Alec had to literally drag me away as he walked away from Lydia.

I walked into the Training room. Upon doing so, i saw Lydia boxing. Rena said she was going back to our room. Which was my room, however, Rena had now decided she was going to be staying there as well.
"Lydia, can we talk?" I asked, approaching her. She stopped boxing and face me.
"Is this where you tell me you're going to propose to me again?" She asked and i frowned.
"What? No." I denied.
"Why wouldn't you?" She asked, as if the answer wasn't obvious.
"Are you kidding? Why would i call the engagement to my girlfriend off?" I asked and Lydia couldn't answer. That's what i thought. "Look....can we just talk off the record?"
"Head of Institute hat off?" She asked and i nodded.
"Yeah." She then nodded, and i carried on. "Listen, i need to come clean about what happened at the City of Bones." I had to try and get Izzzy out of this.
"Isabelle was there, wasn't she?"
"Yeah..." I trailed off. "And Jace and Clary. And some vampires and werewolves. They thought they were stopping a war with the Downworld."
"Well, they weren't wrong, but i had orders."
"Yeah, and i understand that. Better than anyone. But i can't let Izzy be exiled for this." She was my sister, after all.
"In the eyes of the Clave, she's guilty. I mean, how do you propose we get around that?"
"I may have something that the Clave wants." I told her, peaking her interest. "I can give them the Mortal Cup."
"Alec, you have it? Why didn't you tell me before?" She asked.
"I promised Jace. And there's this thing with Clary-"
"It's...." She trailed off, sighing, thinking of the right words to use. "He's your parabatai."
"I'm gonna trade the Cup for Izzy's freedom. Do you think the Calve would go for it?" I wondered, and Lydia did a single nod.
"To keep it out of Valentine's hands, they'll do anything. Where is it?" I opened the safe with my stele, the shelving rose. But the tarot card and the necklace was gone.
"Jace." I seethed.

I walked to Izzy's room, Rena glued to my side. She had said about me and Izzy being the only friends she had now, and she wanted to do anything to help her.
"Keep it short." Raj spat before letting me and Rena into Izzy's room.
He left and closed the door behind him, leaving the three of us here.
"Jace stole the Cup." I informed her, but Izzy looked away with guilt in her eyes. "Izzy, did you know about this?" When she didn't answer i knew. "My God, did you help him? The Cup is the only thing that can get you out of this."
"Jace is doing what he thinks is right." I got told, and I glared at Izzy a little.
"What's right?" I asked her. "He put the whole Shadow World in danger. He put you in danger. We have to get him back here. With the Cup. It's the only thing that can help you."
"They've taken Meliorn back to the Seelie realm." She informed us and I heard Rena make a little sigh. "You can't track him there."
"Not by any of the normal ways." I told her, and Izzy shook her head instantly.
"No, absolutely not." She denied. "You cannot track Jace through your parabatai bond."
"What would it do?" Rena asked, grabbing my hand and looking at Izzy.
"It will weaken them both. Or...break the bond." Rena gasped and shook her head.
"I can do something! I can ask Dad! I can-"
"Rena, please." I quietly said, placing a hand over her mouth. I knew she wanted to help, but i had to. This was Izzy's whole life on the line. I felt something lick my hand and I gave my girlfriend a 'seriously?' look.
"Jace already weakened it." I spat. I was angry. I didn't think what Jace had decided to do was right. "How does he think i can trust him after what he did?" There were so many things piling up on top of the other that at this moment with Jace that i didn't know how to escape it, to be honest.
His total obsession with Clary. That one isn't as confusing - but it is because she's a total
skank - as i swear i'd kill everyone that hurts Rena, but still.
His...weird obsession of wanting to be the hero all the time. He loves the attention and it's driven him to do things without us - me and Izzy - or risk our own lives as Shadowhunters. Like Izzy's is.
He's been rude to Rena, and i swear if she heard, she'd slap him.
"Don't say that." Izzy begged, looking at me sadly. "Please, Alec. Think about what you're doing."
"It's okay, Iz. I'll take some of it away." Rena whispered before grabbing my hand and leading us out of Izzy's room.
"You aren't doing anything, Verena." I told her as we walked towards where Hodge would be.
"Try me." She snickered, walking in step with me, swinging my hand slightly.
"I can't let you get hurt because of me." I said quietly, looking at the ground as we continued walking. "Not again."
"You won't be hurting me if it's done by choice." She shrugged, then a smile replaced the little frown on her face. "Besides...i'm pretty un-killable." I chuckled and nodded, kissing her head quickly.
"That you are, baby."

"Hodge, you ready?" I asked the ex-Circle member. Lydia, Rena and Hodge gathered around me.
"Alec, don't do this out of anger." Lydia said, trying to convince me not to do it. "Jace it still your parabatai." I felt a soft hand clutch mine and i gave it a tight-ish squeeze. I knew it was Rena.
"Lydia's right." Hodge spoke, agreeing with the envoy.
"I'm not letting Jace sacrifice my sister for his girlfriend's pointless crusade. We're doing this. And if you don't wanna help, get out." I spat, glaring.
"I'll help, but on one condition." Hodge said, bargaining almost.
"What?" Rena questioned before i could.
"You don't let it go too far." He told me, and i sighed. "Now your bond with Jace can withstand a certain amound of strain. But you have to promise me that you won't let it break."
"Jace is dead to me." I said coldly. Because, in truth, it felt like it. It felt like he only cared for the redhead twat - not Rena, obviously - and it was slowly killing me. I knew.
"Alec." Hodge said in a warning tone.
"You don't know how dependent you are on the bond, or how dependent you are on each other."
"I have to do this." I urged, giving Rena a little 'help me' glance.
"He's right. This is for Izzy's life." She said, and no one seemed to disagree with her. Perhaps they feared her too much. I shook the thought away and took my shirt off, lying down on the bed that was neatly made.
"Prepare yourself. This will be very, very painful." Hodge warned, and i nodded, glaring at the ceiling a little.
"Do it."
