November 30th, 1997
When I was with Draco it was like the world had disappeared, so maybe that's why the last sixth months had flown by so quickly.
Technically, it had been two years we'd had this thing going on, but in the last six months, we embraced it, truly.
I wish I would've had noticed it sooner, the way the butterflies exploded in my stomach, or how his laugh was better than any song to me. Sure we had our ups and downs but it was all the little things that made the last sixth months go by so quick.
The future is unpredictable so I made sure he knew how much I appreciated him because he deserved to know.
Draco's POV
Six months, two hours, and nineteen minutes since Y/N became mine, and I've loved every moment of it.
Her small smiles at me, the way her arms wrap around mine, or how my heart explodes whenever I see her, all were engrained in my brain.
She's why I am who I am today, and I'll be grateful to her forever, and she'd know that I'd make sure of that.

Y/N POV
I tapped my fingers on the desk in anticipation, only two more hours until Draco and I were to meet in the courtyard. He had owled me earlier that day to plan a date, we ended up choosing the courtyard at six. I had everything ready, his present, my outfit, everything, but in the end that's not what matters, it was him.
The teachers dismissed us and I ran out of the class excitedly and headed for my dorm room. I slammed open the door, scaring Luna in the process, I apologized quickly and started grabbing my outfit.
"I'm so nervous," I said, while putting my shirt on "I mean, it's him but still..."
Luna smiled at me "Y/N, either way, he'll love you. don't worry about it. I think you look great" She said as I turned around to show her my outfit.
I nodded and took a deep breath, and looked at myself in the mirror, sighing. I just hope he loves it.
Draco's POV
I grabbed a suit from Blaise's room quickly. I only owned one and I didn't want to show her something she had seen before. I started at my work for a little bit before looking at the time and realizing that I had to leave soon. I sighed, I just hope she loves it.
Y/N POV
I ran downstairs as quickly as I could without ruining my outfit, I was running a little late. I tried to avoid bumping into people in the hall as I looked for the entrance of the courtyard.
All the butterflies in my stomach multiplied and flew harder than before. I looked at him, and he looked at me. We didn't need to speak, we knew what we wanted to say.
We started at each other for a moment before I ran to him and hugged him. His warmth surrounded me as I squeezed him tighter. When we finally separate after what felt like a second, it had been five minutes, I looked and saw he had a whole candlelight dinner made.
I tried to hide the smile on my face but it was hard, it was just different than this time last year. I remember all the fights we had, specifically in this courtyard.
I pulled back, my body shaking with anger "It's true? You work for that fucking monster!" I yelled, he clenched his fist in anger "You don't understand Y/N"
"What's there not to understand?" I said shoving him off me "You're a death eater who just kissed me to distract yourself. I will not be a pawn, I'm too good to be that!" I yelled, I was so angry I didn't care who heard me screaming at him
"Y/N, let me fucking speak!" He yelled walking closer to me, I pulled out my wand and pointed it at him "You wouldn't" he said, a little uncertainty in his voice
"Wanna bet?"
The flashback hit me like a punch in the stomach. I stares at him sadly, his face filled with concern "What, is it wrong? Oh, Merlin, I didn't know if you want this or..."
I cut him off "No, this is great. It's just this place has a lot of memories." I looked around
He held the side of my face gently "I know, but we can make new ones, better ones."
I stared into the eyes of the boy I loved, and he stared back at me with the same love back.
There was a different look in his eyes, one different from the angry, or happy, or even sad eyes. No, this one I didn't recognize
It was odd, I couldn't stop remembering those days when it was just us being stupid and prideful. Too proud to admit we were falling for each other.
He led me to the table, where he conjured it is beyond me, and pulled my chair out for me to sit. I smiled and took my seat, which he followed across from me.
It was silent for a little, there were so many words to say but they wouldn't come outright. I looked at him, he didn't notice every time but when he did the butterflies multiplied.
After a few minutes, I finally spoke "It's weird isn't it?"
He looked up ad me "What do you mean"
"I mean, it hasn't felt like just six months, I don't know about you but that just feels too small. All the memories and to think it doesn't count because we were idiots who couldn't admit we were in love"
Draco smiles up at me "I knew though, you know that time in the third year when I knocked over your potion and waited until after class to tell me off?"
I smiled to myself "Yeah, that's when I cared about Snape's detentions."
"I'm not sure what that changed but I couldn't stop looking at you, you never noticed, but it was different."
I felt my face heat up "I feel bad now, seems like you've been in love longer than I have"
"That's not necessarily true, you're way more expressive than me"
I laughed a little, I overreacted sometimes but it's that built-up tension. It was nice, we could talk about whatever, and no one would bother us. We could just be the two of us.

"It's almost ten o'clock," I said sleepily rubbing my eyes, we had been talking and looking up at the stars for the last hour.
He turned his head to me, I followed, smiling a little "What?"
"I'm in love with you Y/N," He said suddenly, I looked at him confused "I know, I love you too" I smiled at him
He shook his head "No like I'm stupidly in love with you, every time I look at you, the butterflies in my stomach freak out, and when you're with me it feels like nothing in the world can hurt me."
I stared at him "I'm stupidly in love with you too, I thought we knew this?"
He sighed "Y/N, I...can you just promise me something?" I nodded "Please never fall out of love with me," He said, holding my hand.
He slipped a ring on, it had Malfoy engraved in it. I looked back at him "I...I'm too young to get engaged, my love"
He smiled and rubbed his thumb on the back of my hand as he held it "Its, not a proposal, I just want you to have something of mine, in case you doubt yourself. I know it's another ring but"
I grabbed his face softly and kissed him "thank you, I don't have a gift to give you...I can get one though!"
He kissed me again "You don't need to, you're all I need."
I smiled at him, trying to speak but nothing good enough made it through. I hoped he knew how much that meant to me.
He got up and took my hand "It's time for you to go to bed. I love you, forever"
I smiled and squeezed his hand "I love you always" and left. I turned around to see him looking at me, I waved to him and he waved back.

I laid in bed, but all I could think about was him. I thought about when he gave me a ring and I acted in such fear of him proposing, but the more I thought about it, maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing.
We never know what's coming next anyways.
