"You already got her registered for school?" I asked my momma, referring to serenity. She came over to the house this morning before she leaves for her flight to go visit her family for the rest of the week
"Yeah. You already know I do the school stuff early. I don't like last minute. She's staying with one of her friends for the rest of the week and they're supposed to go school clothes shopping together so I gave her some money to get whatever she wants"
"Knowing you, it ain't just SOME money"
My momma laughed "girl hush. I was the same way when you were in school"
"You want some cereal?" I randomly asked her and she shook her head
"No.. but why y'all eating cereal? You usually like to cook breakfast"
I shrugged "we just wanted cereal"
As I said that, Benji walked into the kitchen
"Wassup ma" he spoke to my momma and she spoke back as he walked right past me
"Mhhh" I muttered as I poured the rest of the cereal from the box in my bowl and she looked between the both of us but didn't say anything.
I could hear him going through every cabinet as I finished pouring the cereal and sat the box down. He looked back at me before coming over to where I was and grabbed the empty box, shaking it
"You wanna start this early in the morning?"
"Oh, this was your cereal? Oops" I sarcastically said and he gave me the nastiest look
"You'on even eat cereal. Childish as hell"
"Well me and my kids wanted cereal"
"Bet" he simply responded while going to grab a cup and my momma laughed
"The both of y'all were made for each other. I swear"
"He's just a little upset. It'll be okay" I calmly said to her while throwing the cereal box away.
I then went to grab the milk and once I picked it up I realized it was empty so I looked at benji and saw he was walking over to the table where the kids were, drinking from his cup
"Really dimitri?"
"Oh you was bout to use the rest of that milk? Oops" he said, tryina be funny with his corny ass "Better put some water on it"
I stuck my finger up and again, my momma laughed
"You know what, let me get out of here and go to the airport"
"You sure you'on wanna take all four of them" I pointed at the table "the big one included"
"How about you and dimitri stop this petty war y'all got going on. Now I see where Hendrix get it from. When he gets mad at serenity he'll take something of hers and hide it under her bed. Every single time"
"I wonder where he get that from" I sarcastically said while looking at benji
"You ain gone beat my ass bout it"
"Who won't?"
"Hendrix, make sure mommy and daddy behave while I'm gone. Okay?" My momma said to him as she grabbed her purse and he nodded
"Okay Mimi"
"It's a shame when you gotta tell the baby to watch his parents cause they don't know how to act.. now I'm leaving. I'll talk to y'all later"
"Let me know when you land. Be safe"
"Okay babygirl" she responded as she left.
Kyran grabbed some of the dry cereal he was eating and ate it as kinsley reached over to him, tryina stick her hand in his bowl. He side eyed her before pushing her hand away
"No" he fussed and she laughed
"Kin eat your own food" Hendrix fussed like he was somebody's daddy, as he chewed up a mouthful of cereal
"Hendrix leave her alone. Cause if yo daddy say something then ima have to hurt his feelings"
"Tell yo momma she can't hurt shit"
Hendrix just laughed and ate his food.
"Yo momma better eat that cereal too" he also said to Hendrix
"Yo daddy can go to hell"
"That's not nice mommy" he corrected me and benji laughed
"Yeah, that's not nice mommy"
Yasmine walked into the kitchen and I guess she instantly read the room. She quietly went to the fridge
"Mommy, you can have my milk. I gotta finish first" Hendrix told me as he continued to eat his cereal and I shook my head, watching as he ate it
"No baby I'm good"
"She would've had milk if she ain ate my cereal" Benji spoke
"And you would've had cereal if you wasn't being an ass"
"Oh my gosh" yas laughed while going to the cabinet where she keeps all of her snacks and stuff at. She grabbed her box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and then went back to the fridge, grabbing some almond milk that must've been in the back
"It didn't come from a cow but it's milk. Here" she sat the milk down on the counter in front of me then sat the cereal down in front of benji at the table "just have it. I'll buy me another box...... ima just eat at work"
She rubbed her forehead and looked at the both of us before laughing again and left the kitchen, eventually leaving the house. I looked at the almond milk then over at benji and he looked at me
"Are we that bad?" I asked him and he shook his head
"Nah. They just dramatic"
"I think that's what it is too" I agreed with him as my phone started to ring over at the table. Benji grabbed it and answered. The sound of it connecting let me know that it was somebody on FaceTime
"What?" He rudely answered looking in the camera. Whoever it was sucked their teeth
"Where is my friend?" I could hear destiny's voice and I hurried over to the phone, smiling
"Hey bitch!!" I cheesed, grabbing the phone from benji
"Kay I miss you so much"
"I miss you too"
"Y'all just miss runnin y'all mouth"
Destiny laughed "tell benji to hush.., but anyways, BITCH. These hoes been wildin since you left"
"Who?"
"Everybody. This place so full of drama now"
"Like I said. Running hall mouth" Benji said as he got up to go get him a bowl and fix himself some cereal
"Shut up... but what happened" I asked, going into the living room
"Soooo you know how you went off right before you left. Well everybody was talkin bout that tryina come up with rumors on what happened, why you went off on him and why you left but I shut that down. But I guess people started going around sayin shit outside of the office so some lady popped up lookin for him. Turn out he had a secret girlfriend this wholeeee time and word got to her that he was messin with somebody in the office"
I sucked my teeth "this is exactly why-"
"Hold on. I'm gettin to the good part. So I told the lady it wasn't nothin like that and I told her you was not messin with that nigga and she was like I had to be lying cause she saw messages in his phone"
I made a face as she continued to talk
"Turns out, she found messages between him and somebody else in the office. She just assumed it was you cause word got back to her about you going off which made her go through his phone in the first place. But I wasn't you. It was Angel"
I burst out laughing "wait forreal"
"Deadass. When she said he kept calling you Angel in the text messages that's when I thought about it. Then what made it even worse was while she was up there, they came from out of the break room together akiking it up"
"What happens after that?" My nosey ass asked
"She went off on him. Next thing I know Angel just blurted it all out about how they been messin around for MONTHS. So that's probably why she kept lookin at you and shit Kay"
"Wowwwww" I laughed. "That's wild"
"I'm telling you"
"Can you go check the patient in room 6?" Somebody asked her and she nodded before looking in the camera
"I gotta go. I'll call you when I get off"
"Okay. Talk to you later"
She hung up the phone and benji walked into the living room with his bowl of cereal. He sat down on the couch beside me and I grabbed his spoon, eating a spoonful of his cereal causing him to look at me
"Why you gotta touch my shit?"
"I'm your wife. What's yours is mine"
He snatched his spoon from me and I sucked my teeth
"Don't act like that Dimitri"
"Nahhh fuck that"
I rolled my eyes and pushed him upside the head as I stood up
"Fuck you. I'm going back to my kids"
As I was about to walk off he slapped me on my ass hard as hell
"Sitcho add back down. You ain going nowhere"
"You ain my daddy"
He looked at me and I let out a dramatic sigh before sitting back down
"Whatchu want dimitri"
"Damn you'on wanna talk to me?"
I looked at him with a stank face "after how you was acting yesterday?"
He nodded while eating his cereal. I continued to side eye him as he casually ate.
"Scat we doing for Hendrix birthday this year? We got 17 days to plan"
He shrugged "you plan, yo momma make sure it happen and I just show up and look good"
"The way you said that make you sound like one of them deadbeat baby daddies that only come around for the holidays"
"Here" he held a spoonful of cereal to my mouth and I ate it "now that's sad that's the only way I could shutcho ass up with that dumb shit"
"Fuck you" I cursed, playfully pushing him while I ate the cereal and he chuckled
