✧・ ゚: *✧・゚:*

Professor Slughorns potion lesson had sent all sixth year students into a frenzy. For the next couple days, everyone was more concerned about what everyone smelt in their Amortentia rather than their actual schoolwork.

Genevieve had been private with her Amortentia— she didn't think it wise to tell lots of people. However, there was one person who managed to learn what, or who, she smelt (other than the girls she shared a dormitory with).

Bradley had taken advantage of still being her astronomy partner, and after pestering her repeatedly throughout the first fifteen minutes of their lesson, he finally managed to riddle an answer out of her.

"Coffee, libraries and chocolate." Bradley repeated lowly under his breath after he told her. He hummed in interest before looking out of the telescope they were sharing. "Sounds like a brilliant combination."

"It is," Genevieve agreed as she wrote her description on The Andromeda Galaxy.

"Any ideas on who it's based on?" Bradley asked. He was trying his hardest not to make it obvious that he was hinting at something.

Genevieve bit down on her lip, her quill stopping as she thought Bradley's question over. "Maybe," she started, carrying on her description, "but it's silly and strange and incredibly far fetched."

Bradley pulled away from the telescope to look at her. "Nothings silly," he frowned. "What might seem silly to one could seem logical to another."

Genevieve looked up at him and smiled . "Always the optimist, aren't you?"

He shrugged sheepishly, a smile pulling at his lips. "I try to be. Anyways, stop changing the conversation. Who do you think it's based on?"

Genevieve's eyes flicked over to where Remus Lupin was in answer. He was so engrossed in watching the stars from out of his telescope that she couldn't help but let her eyes soften a fraction.

Bradley followed her gaze, the corner of his lips lifting. "Ah," he said simply, concealing his happiness at her discloses answer.

Genevieve looked back down at her work and carried on writing. "Or maybe I just like the smell of coffee, libraries and chocolate," she brushed her thoughts of with an absentminded shake of her head.

"Or you just like the smell of Remus Lupin," Bradley commented. Their voices had lowered at this point.

Genevieve looked at Bradley in exasperation. "I can see what you're hinting at, and it's not going to work."

Bradley frowned. "Why wouldn't it?"

Genevieve shrugged. "Remus and I would mess up the whole dynamic of our friend group. I mean, what if something went down between us? I wouldn't want to put James, Sirius and Peter in the situation where they have to pick sides."

"You're putting James, Sirius and Peters feelings before yours? Remus could be the love of your life!" Bradley exclaimed in hushed tones.

Genevieve giggled lowly at Bradley's theatrics. "I wouldn't go as far as saying he's the love of my life. As far as I'm concerned, Remus and I becoming an 'us' would mess everything up."

"But it would mess everything up in the best possible way."

Genevieve's quill stopped moving. She didn't say anything back to him, she wasn't exactly sure what to say.

To agree or not to agree.

"Aren't you curious what would happen if you and Remus became an 'us'?" Bradley carried on.

Genevieve glanced back over at Remus. He was no longer looking through his telescope but instead helping Peter with his description, talking him through it with simple words and easy-going smiles. After realising she was staring, she cleared her throat and focused back on her work. "I need to finish this," she said quietly to Bradley.

Bradley thought he might have overstepped a boundary. He bit the inside of his cheek as he watched her scribble words onto her parchment with a frown. "I'm sorry," he apologised.

Genevieve looked at him. "What for?"

"Well I was being a bit pushy there and I didn't mean to be rude or anything I just want you to be happy because you deserve happiness and I can understand if you're upset that I kept pestering you and—"

"Hey!" Genevieve cut off his rapid rambling with a holding up of her hand. "You didn't upset me at all! I love talking to you, I promise," she assured him.

Bradley's worry was put to ease almost as quick as it had emerged. "Okay," he smiled. "Okay. That's good." He repeated that to himself as he gazed out of his telescope.

Genevieve couldn't help but smile softly as she listened to him jabber reassuringly under his breath.

James had been excited for Quidditch tryouts ever since he had been told he was the new captain of Gryffindor team. It was his first opportunity to give the rest of his soon-to-be team a real impression of himself and his tactics towards the game he loved so much.

With Genevieve, Sirius and Lin beside him, he took a good look at the people trying out in front of him. He gulped at the amount of people staring into him with wide, expectant eyes. There weren't this many people usually.

"James."

James looked at Genevieve to see her eyebrows pulled together. "Are you OK?" she asked sceptically.

James blinked himself out of his trance. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"You've been standing there not saying anything for the past three minutes," Lin told him quietly. "It's getting concerning."

"Oh," James said obliviously. "I have?"

Everyone nodded at him with concerned looks.

"I guess I was in my own little world," he shrugged before looking at the audience with his sudden return of confidence. He cleared his throat before beginning. "You're all obviously here to try out, but not all of you are going to make the team. If you don't make it, don't make a drama about it, just try out again next year— that's if you're here next year." He locked eyes with Dylan Hunter. "And people like you can get off my pitch."

Sirius snorts. "Yeah, you can piss right off, mate."

A defensive sneer automatically painted its way across Dylan's face. "Why?" he demands to know. "I'm here to try out for Beater."

"The last time you played you hit Gen out of jealousy," James answered blankly. He wanted to admit that he already had two perfectly good Beaters that wouldn't be replaced no matter what, but he didn't want to disappoint the others trying out for that position. "Get off the pitch, Hunter."

"I knew this would happen," Dylan laughed bitterly. "Of course you're going to be biased. Everyone's in love with Miss Lewis here, aren't they?"

"It sounds like you're in love with her too," Sirius muttered under his breath.

All of the people trying out looked confused as they watched Hunter go red in the face. Half of them didn't know what he had done last year, while the other half did know but didn't see why he was getting so worked up.

"You're making things worse for yourself, Hunter," a boy in the flock of people trying out spoke. Upon glancing at them, Genevieve realised that it was Marcus Cruz that had warned him. He was in a year above them, just like Hunter. "Leave or I'll make you."

"I mean, I should know this by now, shouldn't I? The captain always favours his friends." Hunter carried on despite Marcus's warning, stepping closer and closer to James in attempt to intimidate him.

It had originally been Genevieve's plan to stay quiet and let James handle the situation— he was the Captain after all, and she didn't want to speak over him. However, she had bit down on her tongue so harshly that it had gone numb and she couldn't hold back her remarks anymore.

"You can barely string two brain cells together to see the difference between an elbow and a bludger. James isn't being biased or having favourites, he's making sure we don't have idiots on our team," Genevieve spat, taking a step towards him so he would stop gaining on James.

"And if I was trying out for the team, I wouldn't be talking about my Captain like that," Lin added quietly, wanting to stick up for his teammates without drawing attention to himself.

"Listen to James and get off his pitch. If you don't then we'll see how you like a broken elbow," Genevieve threatened him lowly.

Hunter's jaw tightened as he clenched his teeth together in irritation. His dark eyes stared into Genevieve's as they played a silent game of 'who is going to back down first'. It was only when Sirius stood between them that Dylan finally took a step back, making a satisfied smirk emerge on Genevieve's face.

Dylan's sneer never left as he was escorted of the pitch. It was amusing to watch for everyone, especially Genevieve. She loved the fact that he hated her so much purely because she was better than him at everything he did.

"Anyways," James carried on with his speech. "We're going to start with a warm up. Ten laps around the pitch, complain and I'll make you do one hundred sit ups while hanging off your broom."

"And I thought Emmie was strict," Lin mumbled to someone in his year under his breath as they both started jogging together.

While everyone else followed the order James had given them, Sirius and Genevieve hung back and chatted to each other while avoiding eye contact with James.

"What are you two doing?"

They both stopped talking instantly and looks at James in desperation. "Oh, come on Prongs, we're your mates!" Sirius begged.

"You're not going to make us do it too, are you?" Genevieve pleaded with her hands clasped together.

"Of course I won't." He slapped a hand on both of their shoulders. "I'll make you do twenty!"

It was in that moment that Genevieve agreed with Lin.
