After I was dressed and my long blonde hair was pulled back I left the room and ran down the stairs. No one was in sight.

"Hello?!" I yelled into the empty space which sent an echo through the house. "Thomas?!"

A door opposite of the staircase opened up and Thomas stepped out. He looked at me with a gaped mouth and wide eyes.

"What are you wearing?" He chuckled.

"Oh, I didn't think a dress was right to wear when we are looking at a machine. I hope it is ok." I walked down the rest of stairs and he met me at the bottom.

"You look... good." He checked me out.

"Thomas I understand we are married but I rather you spend our time looking at your machine then checking me out." I chuckle. He smiled and held out his hand. "Thank you. Now as amazing as your clothes are I couldn't find a single sensible pair of shoes." He looks at my bare feet and laughs.

"We have some boots in the closet that may fit your feet." He led me over to a closet next to the front doors.

"Thank you, Thomas." He opens the closet door and pulls out a pair of boots. I put on the boots then he took my hand again.

"Shall we?" He asked. I smiled and he led me outside. "Have you ever build a machine of your own?"

"I have built a whole car by myself once." He snaps his head over to me in shock. "It wasn't much." I shrug.

"Wasn't much?! What else are you hiding from me?" He chuckles. A lot....

"Nothing much. I'm a pretty boring person without the mechanical part." I giggle. We near the machine and he lays go of my hand to run up to it like a little boy.

"This is my greatest invention." He opens his arm wide to display his machine. "All my life's work is right here." I walk up to him.

"It's amazing. Mind explaining it to me? I like learning." He smiled with full teeth.

"Of course." I took his offered arm and he lead me into the reason and build of his machine.

I watched him in awe, this man, this 1887 man was so in love with his work. He is so passionate about what he has created. I can't help but feel my heart flutter when he looks at me with that smile. Why do I feel this way? Is this Claudias feelings, I just met Thomas, I can't already like him.

Thomas even went as far to show me how it works and a simple demonstration. He was so giddy the whole time. Like a young child showing his mother his new toy.

"What do you think?" Thomas asked me as he grabbed my hands.

"I think you are an amazing inventor. Very smart, from toys to machines." I squeezed his hands. He grabbed my neck and drew me into a kiss.

I moaned into the kiss as he pulled my waist closer with one of his hands. I felt a smile form on his lips as his lips were pressed to mine. He broke the kiss but kept his forehead to mine.

"You are an incredible woman." He pants. "Why do I deserve someone as smart as you?" He moves his hand on my neck to my cheek.

"Maybe God thought you needed an extra brain to help you out." I chuckled. He smiled and kissed me again. Why do I love this so much?

"Would you like to see something else?" He asked smiling and taking my hand.

"Depends what it is." I raise a brow.

"Come on." He pulled me into the house.

He basically drag me into the mansion and through the hallways until he stopped at a door. He smiled at me then led me into the room. A old wooden room, looked to be a workshop, it had machine parts and old toys lying around.

"This, is my workshop. I made Lucilles toys here." He led me to a desk which was cluttered in papers. "This where I spend my time when you can't find me."

"This is amazing." I picked up papers and look through them. Different designs of different kinds of machines spread across the desk. "Did you invent all of these?" I looked to his frowning face.

"Yes, unfortunately all of them failed." He looked away from the desk like it was his life's disappointment.

"Well, now you have me." I grab his hand. He turns back to me. "These aren't bad. They just need a touch up." I looked at the papers. "You aren't giving yourself enough credit. You created something where there was nothing. You just need some help finishing them." I looked back at him. "I have your back." I smile.

"Are you even real?" He cups my cheek. "Who are you Claudia Williams?" He smiled.

"Someone who will help you become a world known inventor." I place my hand on his. "But I don't want you to be come a snobby rich man that craves fame." I chuckle. He smiles. "Even though I am a woman in the 1800s doesn't mean I am your property and you own me. I won't be flaunted around as such." He chuckles.

"I would never." He leaned in, taunting me with the brush of his nose against mine.

"Seems I have to finish everything for you." I lean the rest of the way, connecting the kiss.

"Hello Thomas, Claudia." Lucille walks in with a tray of tea. What is up with her and tea?

Lucille set the tray down on the table in front of us, scooting the metal gears to the side. I pulled Thomas's ear down so I could whisper.

"I hate to be rude but absolutely hate tea." He smiled and stood back up.

"Lucille. I don't think Claudia is in the mood for tea." Thomas said as Lucille poured a cup.

"Nonsense. She has to have tea. Right Thomas?" Lucille held the cup to me and glared at Thomas. "Here my dear, it will make you feel better." She moved the cup more towards me. She is giving me a really off feeling...

"Um... Thank you." I took the cup and Lucille just stood there waiting for me to drink it. "Lucille, I don't mean to be rude but ever since I was a child tea disgusted me. I like other Heath drink but tea isn't my thing." I put the tea cup back on her tray. "I appreciate it though, you are very kind."

"No matter." Lucille said through her clenched jaw. "Maybe some porridge to help." Lucille looked to Thomas then me. "I'll go make you some." Lucille picked up the tray and left us in the room.

"Thomas?"

"Yes?" He held my hand.

"Why do I feel like if this was a book Lucille would be the villain who murdered me?" Thomas stiffened.

"We have had a rough childhood. Lucille Sharpe was born a disappointment to our parents. An unwanted daughter to our father and a vessel for our mother's wrath. Her life was never easy." He said. "She means well, she just is trying to be nice."

"I understand." He squeezed my hand.
