Y/N POV:

I woke up, thrilled about getting to start school in Morioh! I hoped to make a lot of new friends, and see the two boys that I met yesterday. It would probably be easier for me to make friends with them, since we've already met, but I especially wanted to apologize to Josuke again for how Rohan behaved yesterday.

Even after we got home from the café yesterday, Rohan continued to rant about how "horrible" Josuke was, and how stupid Josuke's friend was. I thought that it was really rude and it kind of soured my mood too, so I tried to avoid Rohan for the rest of that day.

Tried and failed.

"Y/N! Y/N! Come look!" Rohan had yelled to me that afternoon. I went over to his study and he quickly dragged me over to the window. "Didn't I warn you about him?! Look at him scheming down there!"

I looked out of the window to see... nothing. He must really not like this Josuke for him to be so intent on me not associating with the boy. I guess I really just didn't see what Rohan saw in him. Sure, he got a little defensive at the café, but Rohan did kinda insult him.

"Um... are you ok, Rohan?" I asked.

"What?!" he quickly looked back out the window. "Y/N, I swear he was right there and he was staring right up here!"

"I believe you." I said, raising my hands. "Maybe he was just passing through."

Rohan sighed. "Maybe you just have too much faith in people, Y/N."

I smiled sadly and left the studying, finished up the rest of my coffee from that morning and threw it away in the garbage can outside.

I shook off the memory from yesterday. There was no reason not to put the whole incident behind us and start fresh. It was a new day after all! I put on a f/c school uniform and did my hair the same as I always did.

"Good morning, Rohan!" I said in my usual lively tone. I hoped he wasn't too upset at me for trying to give Josuke the benefit of the doubt.

He sighed, but then turned and smiled at me, holding two plates of breakfast in his hands. "Morning. Are you excited about your first day?" He laid one of the plates in front of me.

I nodded eagerly. "I can't wait to meet so many new people! And make some friends too!"

"About that, Y/N. You know how I feel about... Josuke." he shuddered. "But, you are free to spend your time with whomever you please. I won't stop you. Just please don't bring him around here!"

I laughed. "Don't worry, Rohan, it's not like I'm going to spend all my time with Josuke. I'm not even sure he still wants to be friends after how you spoke to him yesterday."

"I sure hope he doesn't." Rohan muttered under his breath.

Soon enough, I was on my way to school. Morioh seemed much more lively with all the students walking in groups, happily chatting amongst themselves. I couldn't contain my smile as I took in all the beautiful details of the town around me, loving the shining sun and soft breeze that touched me. If only I had someone to share this feeling with!

"Oi, Y/N!" I heard a gruff voice call my name behind me. It was Josuke's friend! I realized that I wasn't able to get his name before leaving with Rohan the other day, but he seemed nice enough. His face scars grabbed my attention and I wondered how he got them. I thought it made him unique.

"Hey, I remember you! Sorry, I didn't catch your name yesterday." I stopped and waited for him to catch up to me.

"I'm Okuyasu Nijimura! You're really pretty, ya know?"

A blush crept up to my cheeks. I wasn't expecting him to be so forward. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Okuyasu. I'm Y/N Kishibe! Oh, but I guess you already knew that." I laughed nervously.

Okuyasu and I talked while walking together. Well actually, it was mostly him talking about food while I listened, but I didn't mind. I thought he was a bit of a goofball, but really sweet at the same time. Soon, school was in sight.

"You know, I usually walk with Josuke, but he's been acting a bit strange since yesterday. He didn't even walk home with me yesterday and didn't even tell me." He said, a little hurt.

"Oh, I hope its not because of what Rohan said." I said guiltily. "But also, he left without telling you he wasn't going to walk home with you? That's not very nice of him..." I was beginning to think whether Rohan was right about Josuke.

Okuyasu waved off my comment. "Well, everybody has a bad day sometimes, right?"

"That's true!" I immediately pushed Rohan's warnings out of my head. How could I have been so quick to judge?

"Oh look, there's Josuke now!" Okuyasu shouted. "Oi Josuke!!" he waved.

Josuke was standing at the front of the school entrance, holding a drink in his hand. He looked like he hadn't gotten much sleep last night. He seemed to stare intently at me personally as we walked toward him, with a look that I couldn't quite describe, but it sent a shiver down my spine. Why did it feel like something was wrong about the way he looked at me?

Is he really that mad about yesterday? I hope I didn't just ruin the opportunity to make a good friend.

Josuke POV:

I stood in front of the school, scanning the crowds of faces showing up. Plenty of girls walked up to me, saying I looked as great as ever or something along those lines, flashing me their best smiles. I didn't feel anything for them. I didn't even smile back. Who cares about them? Can't they see I'm waiting for Y/N?

I began to grow impatient. Would she even be here soon? Maybe I missed her come in and she didn't want to see me? What if she decided to not show up to school at all? She told me she would be at school today! Would she lie to me like that?

My hands were warm from the coffee I had bought this morning. It wasn't for me of course, it was for Y/N. I thought it would make her happy if I brought her something and then offer to help her find her classes. She would like it. There's no way she couldn't. She would appreciate my kindness. Plus, I had gotten her order just right after all.

It wouldn't be enough to buy her just any old coffee, she deserves the best after all! So last night, I snuck over to Rohan's place and dug in the trash cans until I found her coffee cup from that morning. Thankfully, what she had ordered was still written down on it.

I guess it took longer than expected because by the time I got back home the sun was barely coming up. I probably stunk real bad and my pompadour was most likely messed up, but I hardly noticed. I just kept looking at the order on the cup and grinning. She would think I'm so thoughtful!

I took a nice shower, thinking delightfully about how much she would love me for going out of my way for her. I left home early and went to the café, ordering exactly how she liked it.

And now, here I was, waiting eagerly at the school for her. I would be the first one to greet her, the first one to say hi to her and smile at her. I'll make her the happiest girl ever.

The sound of her voice pulled me from my thoughts. Was she finally here?! Where?! I looked around frantically only for my eyes to finally land on Y/N....

walking with Okuyasu.

"Oi Josuke!" Okuyasu shouted at me, waving his arm. Y/N giggled at Okuyasu's actions.

All I could do was stare blankly at them, gritting my teeth. Y/N giggling and smiling at something Okuyasu did and not me? That dumbass doesn't understand that he's getting in the way of me and Y/N. She doesn't need him to make her laugh, I could do it better than anyone!

"Where did you go yesterday, Josuke? You ditched me!" Okuyasu said.

"Oh you know, just wasn't feeling well." I answered. It was partially true, I didn't feel truly well if Y/N wasn't around. "Hey bro, I think I forgot to get a book out of my locker. Think you can get it for me?"

"Um, sure I guess." he gave me a questioning look. "See you around, Y/N!"

"Bye! Maybe we can hang out later!" she called to him.

Hang out later? With him? Why not me?!

"Hey Josuke... I wanted to say--"

"I bought you coffee this morning! I hope you like it! I-I'm sorry about yesterday! Please don't hate me, Y/N." I quickly cut her off, handing her the coffee. She took it, a surprised look on her face, her cheeks tinting red. I knew she would love it!

"Oh, I don't hate you at all Josuke! I was actually going to apologize to you about yesterday. You didn't need to do this for me..."

"Are you saying you don't like it?"

"Huh?! No, that's not what I'm saying at all! I really appreciate it, it just wasn't expected." she chuckled. "You're very sweet, Josuke." she smiled kindly at me.

Oh, that smile! I've been waiting to see it all day. A smile made just for me. I wish she wouldn't share it with anyone else.

"Please don't worry about it, Y/N. I'd hate to see you get upset over that, it's just the way Rohan is."

She scoffed. "Tell me about it, but that's Rohan for you. I love him, but he's such a pain sometimes."

Love him? Y/N shouldn't be sharing any amount of love with that jerk, he doesn't deserve it like I do. What has Rohan gone out of his way to do for her?

"I was worried you wouldn't want to be my friend, Josuke." Y/N continued. How adorable, she was worried I wouldn't like her. Shame on Rohan for making her worry like that. "Also this coffee-- how did you know exactly what I like?"

I laughed nervously. "Just call it a hunch I guess! Can I see your schedule by the way? Maybe we have some classes together!"

She handed it to me and I eagerly went down the list. Only 2 classes together?! I furrowed my eyebrows.

"What's wrong?" Y/N asked.

"Oh nothing, its just that we don't have that many classes together." I said disappointed.

"Well its not like we have to have all our classes together. There are other times to hang out togeth--"

"So you're saying you don't want me in your classes? I thought you wanted to be friends!"

"Huh!? Josuke that's not what I meant at all!"

I internally smacked myself on the forehead. Of course that's not what she meant! She would want all her classes with me if she could.

I'm just getting too worked up over this for some reason...

But it's not like that's a bad thing right? I just want to spend time with her.

"Sorry! I've just been feeling... different recently."

"Different? Well, if you ever want to talk about something, I'll gladly listen." She placed her hand on my arm and smiled genuinely at me.

I was so excited by her touch that I couldn't help but give her a big grin back.

I helped Y/N find her way to her first class. Briefly peeking in I saw Yukako, but everybody else was just a regular old boring student, and the guys in the class were nothing special. No way would they steal my Y/N away from me.

Not that she belonged to me of course! She was just my friend! It's just that... if she made other friends, she might spend less time with me. But why would Y/N do that? She would love to spend time with me, I'm sure of it! She doesn't need other friends anyway, I'm more than enough.

I went to class, but still my thoughts always stayed on Y/N. Without her around, my head started to hurt and I felt dazed and confused.

I found myself opening my notebook, trying to take notes, but unconsciously, instead of notes, I had written Y/N's name over and over.

'Y/N Kishibe'

'Y/N Kishibe'

'Y/N Kishibe'

It was all over my notebook.

Oh, when will this damn class be over?!

Y/N POV:

"Hi, I'm Y/N Kishibe! I just moved from the city and I'm very happy to be here! I hope to get to know you all!" I found myself speaking to the class, as the teacher had asked me to introduce myself.

Immediately upon saying my name I heard murmurs and saw raised eyebrows. 'Kishibe as in Rohan Kishibe?' I heard some of them say.

For some reason, I saw a lot of the girls in the class frowning at me or shooting me mean looks. I'm not sure what I did to upset any of them, so I tried to ignore it, convincing myself that I was just seeing things. Only one girl was genuinely nice to me.

"I'm Yukako Yamagishi, nice to meet you. You're related to Rohan right? I've met him a couple times, but thankfully you seem nothing like him."

"Its nice to meet you! And yeah, Rohan's my cousin, I know he can be difficult." I chuckled.

"Well as long as you stay away from Koichi, we shouldn't have a problem." She said menacingly.

I didn't know who Koichi was, but the way she looked when she said that was enough to make me just go along with whatever she said.

"You don't have to worry about anything." I answered with a nervous smile.

Her mood immediately lightened, and she started to get to know me, asking me various questions. Eventually she asked me if I was interested in anyone.

"Interested? Oh, I don't know, guess I haven't found anyone yet." I said shyly.

"Well what about him over there?" Yukako pointed to a blonde boy at the other side of the room. "He's been glancing over at you this whole time. He's pretty handsome, but not as handsome as my Koichi of course."

I looked at him. He was indeed handsome, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He glanced at me for a moment, but quickly looked away, probably noticing that I was looking at him.

Yukako and I giggled as we saw a blush start to appear on his face.

In what seemed like no time at all, class was over and we were dismissed.

"Hey, what's your next class?" Yukako asked me. I handed her my schedule. After looking at it she smiled at me. "I have that one too! Let's walk together and we can talk about him." She teased, talking about the boy in class.

"Oh stop, I don't even know his name. Also, it doesn't mean that he likes me. Maybe he just thinks my face is weird or something." I denied.

"Come on, you don't really believe that, Y/N, your face is gorgeous!"

I brushed off her compliment, packing up the last of my things.

I heard someone clear his throat behind me.

"Excuse me, fraulein." I heard in a thick German accent.

I whirled around to see the blonde boy, smiling softly at me, his cheeks slightly pink. Behind him, Yukako was giving me a thumbs up, making me completely flustered.

"Oh, hi." For once I was at a loss for words. I knew I was blushing, which was totally embarrassing.

"I just wanted to say welcome. I'm a bit new here myself, so I thought I'd say hello. I'm a German exchange student."

"Well, it's nice to meet you! Hopefully we can be friends!"

He nodded. "I hope so too. You're very beautiful, you know? And you seem very nice. I was wondering if you would want to eat lunch with me."

Looking behind him, I saw Yukako eagerly nodding at me, telling me to say yes. Well, its not like I already promised to eat lunch with someone else, right? Why not make a new friend?

"I'd love to, how about we meet up in front of the school during lunch then?" I said.

"That would be perfect." He smiled at me. I couldn't help but smile back.

"Oh, what's your name by the way?" I felt stupid for not asking earlier.

"Richard. Richard von Stroheim." He said pridefully.

We said our goodbyes and I left the classroom with Yukako. But to my surprise as I stepped out, I saw Josuke leaning against the wall next to the classroom door.

His eyes widened and lit up as he saw me exit the class, and he gave me a wide grin.

"Hi Y/N! Did you miss me?

Because I missed you!"
