ERIN'S POV
I open the door and Alex turns around to face me holding flowers. I smile then say
"You didn't have to"
"Is everything okay?" he asks handing me the flowers.
"Yeah, let's go" I say hurriedly and he just nods his head
We get into the car and we begin to talk.
"Well you look good tonight" He says
"Why, thank you. You don't look bad" I reply
"Oh a compliment from the heiress" he says (pronounced eris to be a play on her name)
"You got jokes huh?" I chuckle
"You haven't seen anything yet my lady. Now then any guesses about where I'm taking you tonight?" He asks
"None at all. Give me a hint." I say he smiles then says
"Hmm mm. Let me think"
"Are you winging this date?" I ask.
"No I totally have a plan" he says and I doubt him
"No you don't" I laugh
"I do. I figured you're above all the dinner and fake fun of normal first dates so, I planned a night of entertainment, starting with laser tag." He says nervously and I laugh
"I am not dressed for laser tag"
"I meant classy dinner and a movie then" he says
"So you are winging it" I laugh. This is a first.
"Maybe" he says to remain suspicious
"Isn't it more fun that way though" he adds
"I don't know. I thought you'd have a plan" I say
"I do and it's already in motion" he says
"What's the plan?" I ask
"It was going to be a surprise but we are going to eat at my favorite restaurant tonight." He says
"Mmmh sounds nice. What's your favorite restaurant called?" I ask
"You may not have heard of Jim's stake out" he says
"No way! James and I go there all the time. It's one of my favorites too. It's like 15 minutes away from my house" I say excited and my thoughts drift back to James and how we left things
'Erin don't leave things like this' echoes in my head.
"What, for real? He never brought it up" he says taking me out of my thoughts
"Oh my goodness, he told you didn't he? I almost fell for that" I say feeling dumb
"Told me what?" he asks suspiciously
"That Jim's is one of my favorite places to eat" I say
"Well go back to falling for it. He didn't tell me" he says and I believe him because let's be honest James wants me to hate this date. Why would he help Alex?
"Fine" I say
"I was so looking forward to your reaction to the place when you saw it." He says and we chuckle.
"Well that's ruined" I say
"Why do I feel like that's going to be a trend with you?" he asks jokingly
"I can't say" I say
"Trying to remain mysterious now are we?" he asks
"No not at all" I answer
"Well you've to tell me when we get inside because we are here!" he says and I let out a joyous 'Yay' because man I am starving.
He parks the car and gets out then rushes to open my door.
"Allow me" he says as he helps me out of the car
"Thank you. Chivalry still exists" I joke and he laughs.
We get into the restaurant and get seated on our table.
"So, what do you usually order when you're here" he asks and I am a little embarrassed
"Ribs" I answer honestly and he laughs
"Well things just got interesting" he says and I laugh
"I am not going to order them tonight, so relax. Tonight I'm going to order first date food." I say. The waiter asks for my order and I order a coke, a burger and fries and Alex orders an unfulfilling salad.
"The ribs were a great option. This place has some of the best ribs in town. So I don't blame you. The burger is also good though not a normal first date choice" he says
"Yes it is" I protest
"No. Okay, it's the usual option for the guy" he says so I laugh
"So because I took your order you ordered an unfulfilling salad?" I ask. This boy is funny.
"Yeah I will possibly have one chip from the ones that come with you burger" he says
"You already had my food in the cafeteria. You are not about to eat out of my plate again" I protest
"What's going to stop me?" he teases
"My hand" I raise my hand jokingly
"Didn't work in the cafeteria" he laughs
"I didn't' stop you" I answer.
"So you let me eat your food?" he asks smirking
"No I wasn't expecting you to eat my food. Plus you only had one chip." I say
The food arrived and I was salivating. I was really hungry and I am happy I get to eat my food. The waiter swaps our order and I say
"Excuse me"
Alex says
"Thank you sir, have a good evening"
"Excuse me!" I say and the waiter turns around
"Yes Miss" he answers politely
"You gave him my food" I say and the waiter swaps the plates, the stereotypes damn.
"Almost got away with my food" I laugh
"So close" he says and I chuckle
"Not going to happen" I say and we begin to eat
"You're not wearing a watch?" he points out and when I turn to look at my wrists he steals a chip from my plate.
"I can't believe you did that" I sigh
"I just thought I'd get that out of the way before I enjoy my delicious unfulfilling salad." I laugh and he shrugs
"We could've ordered the same thing you know." I state
"Well I would have wanted the one chip" he says and I smile. Alex is a character.
"So tell me about you." I say generally interested
"Taking my conversation starters too now?" he says and I laugh
"Not at all. I'm just making conversation." I defend
"Sure Erin." he says and I chuckle
"Alright so I'm athletic. I'm mainly into football and my team is everything to me because football is my passion. Recently I started reading a bit for my English classes but now it's becoming a personal obsession" he says
"Really? What genre do you enjoy reading the most?" I ask
"You're going to laugh" he says and I giggle
"I will try not to" I reassure him
"Mainly tragedy with some romance" he says
"I was not expecting that. Wow!" I say and I laugh. He joins in nervously.
"Yeah, I wouldn't think I'm the type to be reading tragedy for fun either." He smiles. He has a really nice smile.
"Well, I guess we are both in shock" I say
