Also another loyal reader and fan of mine (Georgette321 again) was confused about Draco’s reaction to Violet, so this chapter sort of says why. It’s getting a bit more serious because Draco is starting to act different. My plan (none of this was my brain blast) probably won’t start until the next chapter. But until then I wonder what’s going to happen...

I Was Dared to Love You (A Draco Malfoy Love Story)
Chapter 10: Questions, Blushes, and One Easy Response
-------| Draco’s POV |--------
“How are you doing, Malfoy?” Jesperson muttered, pushing a stray lock of her dark hair behind her ear. My heart thrummed a bit louder in my chest, and I put up an indifferent mask to disguise my shock. I rubbed my hands on my pants and cursed myself for acting like a child. This mudblood must have put a charm on herself so I would act strange. Bloody witch, always using magic to her own advantage
Swallowing hard, I quip back colder than normal, “Fine.” I had to get her away from me. And if there was something I was good at, it was scaring people with my attitude and presence. Giving her the death glare, hoping to frighten her with looks alone, I notice she wasn’t even looking at me, but again behind my shoulder. In a way, I was kind of depressed—dammit! This witch had better stop with the charm.
“Oh, well. I’m fine too, I guess,” Jesperson stuttered back. Her reaction was a faint surprise. Against my better judgment, my eyes widened and I straightened my shirt subconsciously.
Clearing my throat, I grunted back, “Oh, well … er, that’s good, I suppose.”
She nodded to herself and after a second muttered something under her breath. Giving her a questioning look, I see she … zoned out. Waving my hand in front of her face, she didn’t react. Didn’t even blink. Daring a poke in the shoulder, Jesperson didn’t even flinch under my touch. Did she faint without the fall? Forget to take her pills and shut down? Clearing my throat again, I begin wondering if she was even sane. A normal person wouldn’t just … space.
“Uh … Jesperson? You good?” I said with, what I regret—and deny—worry. With another wave of my wrist, she blinked her greenish eyes and was brought back.
Once she came back her face blushed brightly and I couldn’t help but smirk. Jesperson started to shake her head back in forth muttering, “No, no, no!” Now it was official, she’s lost her marbles. Her foot stomped once, and I couldn’t help but think she looked like a child. My thought process stops when she gives a low growl in her throat and blinks up at me.
The next thing I heard made me want to puke, “Do you wanna go to the dance with me, Malfoy?”
I looked at her as she flushed brightly up to her roots and ground her foot into the floor. Her hand was fiddling with the edge of her shirt. Her eyes were staring daggers at me and I was at loss for words. It was my turn to blank out.
Jesperson wanted to go to the dance, that I could understand. She had always liked dancing and music and … and the likes. But with me, seriously? What the fucked up Salazar is the meaning of that?! I thought she hated me and all that I was worth! Since we worked together in Potions First Year and I blew up the cauldron, she swore to make my life hell. Then again I ended up being the one to torture her … And she had asked me to be friends …
“Did you hear me or not, you git! I asked you to the dance! Do you want to go or not?!” she ended up shouting.
Did I mention I wanted to puke?
Did I also mention that it was in a good way?
----------| Ginny’s POV |-----------
He still hadn’t said anything. Growling, I was tempted to run and tackle him from behind. Violet was looking hopeless. By now, several Slytherin had noticed her talking to Malfoy. People were whispering and muttering, but that we could handle. That wouldn’t effect the plan at all. Then Violet had to go and yell at him! She just didn’t cooperate. “Did you hear me or not, you git! I asked you to the dance! Do you want to go or not?!” Sighing, I smack my hand to my forehead.
That girl really couldn’t hold onto her temper.
But that was why I chose her to be the one to fake date Draco Malfoy. She could deal with his bipolar attitudes and atmospheric (meaning larger than the planet) ego. Violet wouldn’t take a comment such as “filth” or “mudblood” to heart; she would instead act pleasant and talk nice because that was how her record spun. She’d secretly be plotting their slow and painful death but would scare them instead with her too-nice aura. I had planned on daring Hermione but Malfoy would crush her like a bug in three words flat. But Violet, Violet was simply too thick-headed to realize how beautiful and smart she was.
Malfoy was going to fall hard and fast, especially for Vi.
---------| Hermione’s POV |-----------
Poor girl. She was blushing up a storm, stomping her foot like a child, and twirling her shirt with her fingers. Makes me regret following up with Ginny on this plan. But Violet really needed to think outside the box. Malfoy wasn’t just going to wake up one morning and think “Wow, Violet’s really hawt; I should tap that!” Chemistry between two people just doesn’t work that way. And yes, Malfoy needed to feel some sort of chemistry for this plan to even have a cookie crumb of hope. Violet on the other hand, just needed to “grow some balls” as Ron likes to say.
Balls of steel are more like it.
Ginny nudged me in the gut, and I zoned back in on the plan that may or may not succeed.
---------| Violet’s POV |---------
I just wanted to smack him, kick him in the bloody balls, and then dump him in a Chinese dumpster. There he was standing, as if he ruled the whole bloody kingdom. Just as I was about to go in for the punch, Ginny began waving her arms again. Holding up her notebook, I read, “He’s nervous.” Looking at Malfoy, I noticed that he was rubbing his palms on his pant legs, and he was totally zoned out of the conversation.
Hermione held up hers at the exact moment and it read, “It’s okay if you don’t want to.” Meaning that had to say that.
Sucking in a breath of air carefully, I was shocked to find it waver with nerves. “It’s okay if you don’t want to.” That snapped him out of his daze.
“Fine,” he ground out. I noticed that his teeth were clenched together in annoyance. He spun on his heal, slightly paused when he saw Hermione and Ginny quickly hide their notebooks behind them like ninjas, then strutted away with as much dignity as he had.
“Well, I’m glad you’re excited,” I muttered loud enough for him to hear.

“Well, I’m glad you’re excited,” Jesperson muttered as I walked away.
‘Bloody thrilled,’ I thought as a blush began to creep up my neck. In annoyance, I quicken my pace, hoping no one noticed.
“Drakie Pooh!”
Ugh … Parkinson.
