You were to start training in 3 days. As soon as you were shown your room, you slept.
Slept,
Slept,
Slept.
Using time freeze really uses you up. Tossing and turning in that last hour of sleep, you started to have a terrible nightmare.
**NIGHTMARE**
"No", you scream. "How could you kill her? She is not like me; you should have killed me instead!" You yell out.
"You are the one I really need, she was just what I needed to get you here," he says.
You muster up the cursed energy inside you and blast him with fire running towards everyone that was chasing you. You look over at her laying there.
** END NIGHTMARE**
Inumaki was appointed the one to go knock and invite you to dinner with everyone. Well, appointed is an understatement, he volunteered as soon as Nobra suggested someone get you. Megumi would have jumped at the chance as well but Nobra had asked when Megumi was not paying attention
As he arrives at your door, Inumaki is hesitant.
"Ok knock on her door and invite her to dinner. It's with everyone, no pressure. Just knock.
His hands would not move. Knock, knock! Don't be such a girl, knock!"
He finally lifted his hand up and knocked, when he could hear you scream, "No kill me!"
Inumaki hesitantly knocks again, this time it wakes you up from your stupid nightmare.
Inumaki grows a bit worried now and knocks again.
You get up and sit on the side of your bed and yell. "I'm coming." You realized you were sweating so much from that terrible nightmare.
"Shit, I have to push that away." You pull off your sweat-drenched shirt, wearing just a bra and shorts you start to cool off your body.
You finally opened the door. Inumaki was a little stunned at your appearance, no shirt on, sweat dripping down your chest and your hair flowing behind you. He could not help but stare at you. He could tell you were sleeping, and more than likely having a nightmare.
"Can I help you?" You say.
Inumaki looks down right away. You realize how annoyed that came off.
"I was just having a bad dream. Did you need something?"
Inumaki speaks in his mind to you again.
"Everyone is eating dinner together. We wanted to know if you would join us."
Seeing, as you were not getting much good sleep anymore anyways, you decide to join.
"Sure, what are we eating?"
Inumaki is still so amazed that you can hear him. You can actually communicate with him and have a conversation. This was amazing. He hadn't been able to talk to anyone, ever. Not really anyways, he was so taken with you because of this. "Finally someone I can talk to" he thinks to himself. As he watches you get ready he can't help but look at your body, but not for the obvious reasons. He can't help but notice all of the scars you have on you, he can tell you have been through battles, tough battles.
You look back at him to see him staring at your body.
"YES?" You say sternly.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't, I mean I was but not for the reason you think. I wasn't checking you out at all. I mean not that you're not pretty because you are, umm I was just."
You cut him off. "It's ok calm down," You say with a little chuckle at how flustered he got.
"Ok thank goodness, I was really just noticing your scars. You're....tough"
You pause as he says this; you don't really want to open up. "Mmm, I guess"
"So... how many cursed words are you able to speak?" You say trying to think of something to break the quietness now as you pick out a new shirt and spruce up a bit.
"Right now, 3-4 words, but I'm working on increasing it."
"I can help you; I've learned how to strengthen my inner core and I don't just mean the obvious muscles, I mean my insides. It's a practice my clan taught me since it takes a lot of inner strength to master time freeze. I think if you master that, you can greatly increase the number of words you can speak."
Inumaki quickly said "Yeah, I'd like that"
You smile. Tying your hair up into a messy bun, touching up your makeup a bit. Inumaki just watches you. Throwing on a cropped shirt, you are ready to go.
"You sure you won't get cold?" Inumaki says before he opens the door.
"Eh maybe, but I hate carrying a sweater around. I'll be ok."
"If you do, you can borrow mine."
You smiled again. "Umm, thank you." A little taken with his kindness.
As you walk along the sidewalk you two begin talking again.
"So, is my mind easy to read?"
You look at Inumaki. "Hmm, why do ask if it is EASY to read?" Putting emphasis on the easy part.
"I know I am not the strongest, I just wondered if that made a difference."
Well... You look at him again trying to read his mind.
"No, I can't, but again I can kind of tell what you are thinking."
Inumaki blushes, "you can?"
"Yes, you're thinking.... If I am cold yet?"
Inumaki shakes his head up and down yes.
"Haha, not yet, but I will let you know."
He was so glad you couldn't fully read his mind. Although he was wondering that, he had a feeling about you in the pit of his stomach. A feeling he didn't know whether he should give into just yet. He had no idea what your situation was. "Single? Maybe she likes girls or isn't looking for anything. Maybe she plays. Maybe..."
"Are we almost there?"
Inumaki snaps out of it. "Oh, yes almost, just one more block." As you cross the street, a car comes speeding down and completely ignores the stop sign.
Inumaki's reaction time was too slow for you. You react by grabbing Inumaki's hand and pulling him towards you embracing him, then you jump off the ground and stomp on the roof of the car to end up at the back of the car.
The driver immediately stops and gets out of his newly dented car.
"What the hell! You put this big old dent in my car." The guy yells. You're still hugging Inumaki and breathing hard since you're still a bit out of it since you used your time freeze.
Inumaki takes notice and stands up straight asserting his dominance to this guy. He says,
"Don't speak" in his, cursed speech.
The guy automatically shuts his mouth. Mumbling but not able to open his mouth.
"Thanks, Inumaki senpai." You have caught your breath now and have a few choice words for this asshole.
"What the hell! You nearly killed two people and all you care about is your car. That really, really pisses me off."
You feel the cursed energy building up inside you. When you get angry, the energy builds up and gets uncontrollable sometimes. You let go of Inumaki and walk towards the man. You're mentally still unstable at the moment so even though you can hear Inumaki in your head you aren't listening to him right now.
You swing his car door open with force, denting it. "Get in," you demand.
The man cowering away from you gets in the car.
You break his driver window with one swift punch and slam the door shut. Lowering your body to meet his face you can see how scared he looks.
"Now are we going to be running any more stop signs?"
The man shakes his head vigorously no.
"Good, good. And was this our fault?"
He is so scared he doesn't move anymore.
You yell now; "WAS IT?!!?"
He can finally speak again.
"No, no, no, it wasn't you guys, it was mmm, me."
"Good boy, now go."
He did not hesitate, turning on his car and revving it to leave as fast as he could away from you. You watch as he drives off into the night.
Inumaki comes up behind you and places his hand on your waist to turn you around.
You instinctively grab his wrist hard and pulling his hand upwards as you turn, your other hand filled with energy. He yells at you in his cursed speech "don't move" you could feel his energy hit you. You were frozen.
Normally this effect would leave someone stuck frozen like that for a few minutes. You were a lot stronger than him though. You were able to gather that cursed energy of his flowing through you keeping you frozen and absorbed it all into your fingertips. You lifted your free hand and let out a blast of energy from your fingers. You could move once again.
Inumaki was completely mesmerized at the fact that you could do that. His cursed speech barely affected you.
"Sorry about that" you say as you lower your hand that was full of energy. "Sometimes it takes a few seconds for me to snap out of that side of me."
Letting go of his wrist you start to hold it gently now and you both look at it. It's bruised.
You instantly feel regret. "I'm, huh... "You let go and walk away a few steps.
Inumaki looks at his wrist again, the outline of your hand is there in purple. He thought to himself how strong you really are, if you were able to do this while not being at your strongest, imagine you at your strongest. He felt sad though, obviously you have been through so much, you were very guarded and protected yourself instinctively. That kind of behavior is born from pain.
"Y/N," he says calmly. "I'm ok; you didn't do it on purpose."
"I know, but still just.... D-Don't get close to me. I don't mean it in a rude way it's just..."
Inumaki cut you off by waving his hands back and forth. You stop talking to hear him.
"I hear you, but I will do what I think is best. "As he says this, he takes his jacket off and walks towards you.
"I think this is what's best right now." He puts his jacket over your shoulders.
You inhale and let out a deep breath. "Thank you."
You really appreciated his kindness, especially now you were going through so much emotionally, his kindness is actually making you feel a bit better.
"Did you still want to eat?" Inumaki says hesitantly.
"Yes, I am starving now. I used up the last energy I had."
You both continue along walking side by side. Nearing the restaurant, you can see everyone through the window sitting at a table already.
Inumaki goes to open the door.
You stop him. "Wait your wrist." You said.
"Oh yeah, they will ask what happened if they see this."
You hand him his jacket back.
"I will give this back to you when I walk you back to your room." Inumaki says happily.
You smile and both enter the restaurant.
