Y/N's POV:
Y/N was new to Mondstadt. They grew up in Fontaine and trained to become a great adventurer like their dad. Their dad was the strongest and most determined person Y/N knew. Unfortunately, he had gone missing on a commission in Dragonspine. After months of searching, the Adventurer's Guild announced that he was no longer alive. Y/N was 14 years old when this happened. It was almost two and a half years ago when Y/N lost their father. He was their only family. Y/N's mom died giving birth to them, so they never met, but their dad always told amazing stories about her exceptional strength, intelligence, and beauty.
It was tough for Y/N, being an only child and growing up without their parents. Even though they weren't that young when their dad passed, it hurt them deeply. Before his death, Y/N had a pretty great life. Not that their life was any worse now, aside from the loved ones they lost. Y/N never had much trouble with money. In fact, they were quite wealthy. Although their dad was just an adventurer, he didn't struggle to bring in Mora. Although the pay isn't great, his job as an adventurer was enough.
Along with that, Y/N's mom left quite a bit of savings behind when she passed. That might even be an understatement. Regardless Y/N never had to worry about money, and they still didn't, considering their father left everything to them.
Y/N didn't believe that their father was dead, or at least they didn't want to believe it. Y/N always looked up to their dad. He was powerful, and he even wielded a hydro vision. He was kind of clumsy though, and a bit immature for a father. Y/N would often be the one taking care of him rather than the other way around. Regardless, he still worked hard to care for Y/N and give them everything they ever needed. Because of his strength, Y/N was inspired by him. They have always wanted to be an adventurer like their dad, ever since they were a little kid and just started walking.
"I'm gonna be just like you one day, daddy!" Y/N said to their dad.
"Oh, that's so sweet of you to say, my little pumpkin! I'm sure one day, all your dreams will come true! And I will be right there with you when it happens."
He had lied. Their dad wasn't there. Their dreams hadn't come true yet, and he was already gone. They were only sixteen, and he had left.
Y/N always admired their dad. They always thought highly of him and wanted to be just like him. To help the people of Teyvat and protect them from harm. However, it wasn't until their dad was gone that they began working toward their goal.
They had a new goal and new motivation. They wanted to go to Dragonspine themself and search for their dad. If he really was dead, they wanted to be the one to decide it. They needed closure. Not only that, but they also wanted to make him proud. They wanted to show him that they did reach their goals. They wanted to show him they could be an adventurer just as strong as him, if not stronger. Y/N started training on their own, and they worked hard to get stronger. They never had a lot of physical strength though. Regardless of that, they tried their very best. Even though they weren't strong, they were very fast and could do fine battling hillichurls with their sword. They even fought a few stronger enemies. They were pretty good at fighting, even without a vision. They were finally accepted into the Adventurer's Guild about a month ago, which led them to where they are now.
Y/N was in Mondstadt. They had arrived three days ago and were camping just outside of the city. They planned to stay in Mondstadt for a while. They wanted to prepare for their journey in Dragonspine before they set off for the snowy mountain. Most likely, they wouldn't cover all of Dragonspine in just one day anyway. Especially not on their own. It made sense to stay. Even with company Dragonspine was huge and would take at least a week to explore, probably even longer.
For the past three days, they had spent their time getting acquainted with Mondstadt. They had already met some new people, Albedo and his assistant Sucrose, who were both alchemists. They also had become quite familiar with Sara, the waitress at Good Hunter, where they had been eating all their meals as of lately. They also met Amber, who had asked them quite a bit about their business in Monstadt. They had simply told her they were an adventurer from Fontaine visiting for a while. Amber had said that another traveler had recently stopped by Mondstadt looking for their sibling. Apparently, the traveler Amber spoke of left for Liyue before Y/N arrived.
Amber had also introduced them to Jean, the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius. During their meeting with Jean, they noticed a young girl in the headquarters named Klee, who they recognized as Albedo's sister. Albedo had mentioned his sister when they met. Y/N had also spoken to Katheryne in Monstadt. They thought it was a little odd how Katheryne was in Monstadt, even though she was in Fontaine before they left. They didn't question it much though. Being a receptionist for the Adventurer's Guild must be a tough job, but Katheryne seemed to do well.
Currently, Y/N was on their way to collect their rewards for their commissions. It was a sunny day in Mondstadt. It always seemed like that, at least for the few days Y/N had been there. Most of the people in Monstadt were very cheery and happy. Y/N enjoyed the atmosphere.
"Good afternoon, Katheryne!" Y/N greeted the women.
"Ad astra abyssosque! Welcome back to the Adventurer's Guild, Y/N. How can I help you?"
"I am here for my commission rewards," they replied.
"Ah, yes! Here you are!"
Katheryne handed Y/N a bag of Mora.
"Thanks a lot, Katheryne!"
"Oh, Y/N, while you are here, you may wanna check out some of these quests if you are interested. There are some fliers on that bulletin board over there. Take one if you are interested."
"Ok. Thank you, Katheryne."
"Of course!"
Y/N headed over to check out the board. They weren't that interested in going on quests since they didn't need the Mora, but they didn't mind.
The bulletin board was filled with different fliers and posters advertising job offers, quests, commissions, and bounties for the Adventurer's Guild and other miscellaneous items. There was a poster advertising some sort of fortune teller. "The great Mona Magistus," it read. There was also a flier for a waitressing job at Good Hunter.
Y/N browsed the board when their eyes fell upon a particular paper that seemed to have been shoved behind a few other items. The flier seemed a bit old and a little torn up. It was a notice made by another adventurer. It was tough to miss, with all the bright colors used to decorate it. It almost seemed like it could've been made by a young child.
In big red letters at the top, it read, "Join Benny's Adventure Team!"
Someone had drawn a big thumbs-up next to the letters. Underneath the bold letter at the top, it said, "we are looking for some strong adventurers to join our party! Our goal is to protect Mondstadt and bring happiness to all its people. We plan to go adventure through Dragonspine and are looking for some company to join us! If you are interested in joining our powerful team, come to the address below for an interview with our leader."
Below was an address to a place in Monstadt city. Y/N stared at the flier for a moment, thinking. The idea of joining a party had never crossed their mind before, but now that they thought about it, it wouldn't be such a bad idea. They planned on going to Dragonspine, which isn't exactly the friendliest of places.
Y/N re-read the flier. It seemed like someone a bit immature had written it. They questioned if it was even a genuine offer. But it did seem like it could be worth checking out. The group was heading to Dragonspine as well, and it would be a lot less challenging to travel with companions. Y/N thought about it for another moment. If they are adventurers, they must have some potential. It couldn't hurt to meet them.
The flier seemed old, but if they were no longer searching for party members, they probably would have gotten rid of it a while ago.
Y/N read the address again and decided they would go check it out.
They stepped away from the board and began to set off when they heard Katheryne from behind them, "find anything interesting?"
Y/N looked down at the flier once more and then looked back up at Katheryne. "I think so. We will just have to find out. Maybe I'll get lucky." They gave Katheryne a smile, and Katheryne grinned back. With that, they were off.

It has been a while since I have written anything and I cancelled another, HunterxHunter fanfic I was working on, due to not having time or motivation to keep it going. I doubt anyone remembers it anyway but if you do I apologize. Someday I might bring it back but until then I will be putting my energy into this. I plan to do my best to keep up with this one. It is one of my main resolutions for this year to write more. I also plan on starting quite a few other fanfics. I am mainly going to focus on Genshin Impact characters, but I am pretty flexible and open for requests. No promises that I will fulfill them though. I look forward to writing more. also please note that the cover art for this is not mine and I take absolutely no credit for it. Anyways I am currently working on the second chapter of this fanfic, and it is going well, so expect a new chapter next week! I hope you all have a wonderful day or night wherever you may be <3)
