It was a particularly cold winter day. Soft wind blowing through the icy streets, snowflakes ever so delicately landing on roofs of houses, or joining the millions of other snowflakes on the ground. The sun was covered by the white clouds, leaving a rather dark atmosphere. The lack of light didn't prevent kids from the neighborhood to go out, playing in the snow in their gear. Due to the street being on a hill, many of them tobogganed down the roads, forcing any cars trying to drive up to wait for the children to move.
Most people would either be last-minute gift shopping, brightening their homes with festive decorations, or simply celebrating the Holiday with family, however not Zander and Luke.
Inside one of the many identical suburban homes in the neighborhood, two twenty-seven-year-olds lay snuggled up together in their bed, bundled up in the warm, heated-bed sheets, protecting them from the cold weather, talking about anything and everything.
"So, you wanna go visit my family this year?" Zander asked, glancing up at his boyfriend.
"Mhm," Luke hummed, not daring to open his eyes as he held Zander close to him, "You're warm..."
Gently smiling at the comment, Zander couldn't help but blush at the sight of his lover. Luke looked ever so peaceful, the warm, yellow light from the lamp on his nightstand reflecting off his face, complimenting his features.
Zander reached his hand up, tucking some of Luke's auburn strands out of his face. Zander then tore his gaze away from the golden-eyed boy, he cranked his neck back to look at the clock on his nightstand.

So late in the morning, yet Zander felt no motivation to get up. Which was understandable, he had never been a morning person. His work started at 7:00 am, forcing him up at at least six. Whenever he got the opportunity to sleep in, he took advantage of it. Lucky for him, he and Luke both had the week of Christmas off.
Zander let out a sigh, grateful to be able to sleep in without anyone judging him. Luke was the only person he lived with, and he'd definitely be the last person to judge Zander.
Turning back to his lover, Zander spoke up, "I think we should visit your family this year."
His eyes remaining closed, Luke mumbled, "Oh yeah, why's that?"
"Because," Zander said, letting out a loud exhale, "My family's so much bigger. We'd have to get gifts for my parents, my sisters, all four of my grandparents, my aunts, and my uncles," He paused, taking a moment to adjust his position in the drummer's arms, "Since your family is so much smaller, we'd only have to get gifts for your mom, your aunt, and your grandpa. We haven't even started gift shopping, and if we go to your family we'd only need to get three gifts. It would buy us more time to buy my family's gifts since we'd have until New Year until we see them, so that's an extra five days," He explained, "Plus, it's such a shorter drive to your grandpa's place."
Luke couldn't help but laugh causing Zander to look at him, confused.
"You're so lazy," Luke giggled, his honey eyes finally fluttering open, filled with joy.
Zander's face shifted to a pout as he narrowed his eyes, "Well, you made a commitment! Now you're stuck with me!" He exclaimed, jokingly.
Luke chuckled, moving his hand to caress Zander's cheek, "I'm not complaining..." He murmured, "I love and adore every single one of your flaws. All of them added up with your endless positive traits, make up the amazing, independent man I fell in love with..." Luke leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on his boyfriend's forehead.
A rosy tint appeared on Zander's cheeks, as he shifted his gaze to the ceiling, "You're so cheesy..." He muttered, managing to keep his voice straight and not stammer his words.
Luke only smiled, "You made a commitment, now you're stuck with me," He spoke, mimicking Zander's comment from moments earlier.
"Hey!" Zander exclaimed, letting his familiar smile break onto his face, one that made Luke's heart speed up every time he saw it.
"I bet you're looking forward to hearing my wedding vows, huh?" Luke joked, "I mean, if you thought that was cheesy, you should hear the speeches I rehearse in the shower."
Zander forced a small laugh, before his expression dropped. "Um..." He sat up, awkwardly scratching his arm, "I, uh, actually Luke, speaking of that... There's kind of something I've wanted to talk about..."
Concerned by his lover's rather serious tone, Luke copied his action, sitting up on the bed. "Sure, what's up?" He said, his tone soft and comforting as he rubbed Zander's back. It was only then he noticed the tense and nervous energy the ombre-haired boy gave off.
"I..." Zander took a deep breath, "Okay, I don't really know if you're ready, and if you're not that's okay, but... I think maybe we should start considering... Getting married soon..."
Luke remained silent for a moment, blinking at his jittery boyfriend, who kept shifting his position. "Sweetie," Luke finally said, "Why were you so scared to ask me?"
Zander glanced up at Luke, his eyes slightly wide, "I... I don't know... I didn't wanna like scare you away by talking about marriage, especially since I don't know if you're ready to take that step yet."
"Zander..." Luke let out in a breathless laugh, "I've been head over heels in love with you since sixth grade, and we've literally known each other nearly our entire lives. Of course I wanna marry you soon," He enveloped Zander into a hug, not too long after he felt the latter's frail arms wrap around him as well, "We can talk about it, okay?"
Once they pulled away, the pair exchanged a smile, Zander then rested his head on Luke's chest, leaving them in silence.
Luke couldn't help but let his mind wander, flooding with different thoughts.
They had been together for so long.
They spend a lot of their time together.
They care about each other's opinions more than anyone else's.
They'd talked about starting a family together before.
Luke was certain Zander was the person he was gonna spend the rest of his life with, and he was sure Zander felt the same way.
Zander had basically just said he was ready to get married.
Luke was ready too...
"Why don't we just get it over with?"
"Huh?" Zander looked at Luke, clearly not realizing what he meant.
"We've been together for almost twelve years now, I doubt we're ever gonna break up. Why don't we just get married? Not soon, like, now." Luke, who had been staring at the wall, glanced down at Zander, a soft smile erupting onto his face.
"Are you... Proposing...?" Zander faltered.
Luke gently shrugged, "I mean, I guess, yeah."
Zander blinked, remaining silent for a moment. "Okay then... Let's get married." He felt a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth, one he failed to fight back.
Another silence took over the room, as the couple was left gazing into each other's eyes.
"So... We're engaged now?" Luke asked.
"I guess so..." Zander uttered.
The two then broke into laughter, along with lots of hugs, kisses, and affection being exchanged.
"Okay, okay," Zander said, composing himself as his giggles died down. He then crawled out of bed, grabbing Luke's hand, "Let's go!"
"Hm?" Luke glanced at his now fiance, his own laughter fading, "Where are we going?"
Zander beamed, pecking Luke's cheek, "Come on, silly! I wanna get you an engagement ring."
Luke raised an eyebrow, taking disbelief at Zander's comment, "Right now?"
"Yes, right now!" Zander confirmed.
"In the freezing cold weather in our pajamas?" Luke asked, once again looking for confirmation.
"Yes!"
"Do you even know if the place is open?"
"No, but that's a chance I'm willing to take!" Zander's voice was reduced to more of a whine, "Now hurry up!"
Luke chuckled, standing up, his fingers still entangled with Zander's, "Okay, but I'm getting you one, as well!"
The shorter man smiled, as the two began exiting their bedroom. Once they arrived downstairs they agreed they would pick up food on the way there, then put on their snow gear. They arrived outside, approaching their car.
"Oh, wait!" Luke exclaimed, causing them to stop walking, "What day is it?" He asked.
"The twenty-third, I think," Zander briefly paused to think, "Yeah, Christmas is in two days, so it's the twenty-third." He confirmed. "Why?"
Luke grinned, pulling Zander close to him. He closed the gap between them, passionately kissing his lover as he cupped Zander's face. Despite the coldness in Luke's touch due to the weather, kissing him never failed to make Zander feel warm and fuzzy inside. Fragile snow landed on them, the wind creating a nice breeze, only adding to the romantic setting at that moment. Once they pulled away, Luke pressed their foreheads together, his large smile still visible on his face.
"December 23rd... The day we got engaged."

I've written quite a few Lander proposals throughout this book, but I'm not gonna lie, this one's probably my favorite. I just adored the idea of Luke ever so casually proposing XD
Quick question, I've asked you guys before which one of my one-shots is your favorite. However, that was quite a while ago, and I've written a pretty decent amount of new ones since then.
Because of that, I'm gonna ask again. Which one of my one-shots so far is your favorite?
Personally, mine has to be Pink Lemonade, I was so proud of the outcome of that one ^^
