„Well, I thought about it because it was rather obvious.", Susie explained to her best friend. "But are you okay with me eating salami? Otherwise, I can eat vegetarian food as well from tomorrow on for the rest of the week."
"Of course, I am fine with it! I just have personal reasons not to eat meat anymore. They are both, morally and about the taste. But you don't have to change your nutrition because of me, Sus.", Liam answered with a smile. "Oh, hey Robin!", he shouted for his partner, who was looking for a place to sit. "Would you like to sit with us?"
"In love!", the redhead coughed what she saw and chuckled when her best friend turned back to her and rolled his eyes. "I am just telling you the truth, buddy.", she winked at him and watched him throw a piece of cereal at her face.
"I just met her yesterday! And also, I am only being nice because she obviously doesn't have anyone since she's new here.", the fourteen-year-old replied. Robin arrived at the table and sat down next to Susie. "Hey, good morning!"
"Good morning, you two! Did you sleep well?", the brunette greeted them smiling. "Thank you for letting me sit with you. I met two other people, but they are rather annoying, know-it-alls."
"Sure, that's why they are new.", Susie joked, not a fan of such people. "We like having you with us.", she confirmed.

"Mommy, mommy, mommy!", Leo excitedly exclaimed and ran out of his parents' bathroom into the kitchen directly into her arms because she had knelt down for him once she had heard him. "I am soooooo curious about what you will say to our wish!"
"I didn't even know you guys had one.", Amelia informed her son and softly kissed his head before she let go of him. "My Leo-bear has a lot of energy today as I can see.", she grinned.
"We want to watch the Tschuratik Worlt cartoon with Luca!", Lily told her, just as excited as her brother. "He let Ryan know that he wants to watch it and we want to watch it too, pleaseeee!", the six-year-old begged.
"Jurassic World cartoon?", their mother wondered and looked at her two sons in confusion when they joined them in the kitchen. "You are aware of the fact that those are two real movies and they are not for small children, right?"
"Nah, there's this animated series on Netflix, that's what I meant. Couldn't have known those little munchkins here would eavesdrop. But it's fine for six-year-olds, so this shouldn't be a problem.", Luca shared with his mother, who communicated with Katie over facial expressions. "Katie, be on our side!"
"Seriously! You are my girlfriend and mom is only your mother-in-law.", Ryan interfered, causing his mom to be dramatic about the "only your mother-in-law". "Adding to that, we can start watching during breakfast and will be done at lunch. It's only eight episodes long."
"Ryan!", Amelia complained because her son had made that suggestion and Leo and Lily were therefore already sitting on the couch, waiting patiently for their breakfast to eat it in front of the TV. "This means three to four hours in which these two will be watching TV. Usually, they get to see one movie a week."
"We know and understand that, but it's an exception, mom.", the seventeen-year-old argued softly. "You won't have to entertain them for one morning and they will still be happy. Take the time off.", he kindly requested.
"Pleaseeee, mommy!", the two youngest begged again until the brunette finally gave in, causing them to gather on the couches, which meant Luca was taking one by himself, Amelia sat on the middle one with the minis and Katie and Ryan shared the third.
There, the family ate breakfast and the neurosurgeon figured they could just order pizza for lunch, so they would be able to finish the show, Leo and Lily could have their nap after and in the afternoon, they would be outside.

„I am a bit cold; can I get a sweater from your dresser?", Ruby questioned, already getting up and kissing her boyfriend's head, who demanded another kiss but this time on his lips before he nodded and smiled.
"Oh, shit!", Ethan cursed about a minute later and received confused looks from his friends, which he ignored because he was busily getting upstairs. But he was already too late.
"What is this?", his girlfriend asked in a shaking voice and stared at the bottle of vodka in her hand. "Why do you have alcohol in your dresser?", she wanted to know as she looked at him disappointedly, causing his heart to break.
"Rubs...I...", the fifteen-year-old tried to find an explanation but he couldn't think of any. Ashamed, he looked at the floor. "I'm sorry...", he apologized quietly, aware of how bad the situation was.
"About what? The fact that you're drinking again or that you are addicted? You were obviously able to dispense with it the entire week, so maybe you have yourself under control. As well as the lies that you kept telling me about your headaches!", Ruby screamed at him crying. "I trusted you!", she yelled.
"How could you?", Tony questioned in shock. He and his girlfriend had heard everything and were now standing in the room, too. "How long have you been drinking again, Ethan?", he asked seriously and in disappointment.
"Ruby, please come here!", Camilla carefully ordered, worried about her best friend. "Put the bottle down and come over here.", she repeated calmly but the fourteen-year-old had a different plan. She was packing her things, grabbed her bag and stormed downstairs.
"RUBY!", Ethan shouted in fear since it was the middle of the night. "Ruby, please come back!", he sobbed but suddenly they heard the door slam. "What are we going to do now?", he asked his friends and swallowed heavily.
"Please answer...please answer the call...", the young brunette helplessly mumbled while she kept running away from her boyfriend's house and became colder by the second because she hadn't put on her jacket but instead pushed it into the bag. "Ryan! Please pick me up!", she cried.
"Where are you? What happened?", she heard her brother panic. He glanced at his grandma in fear, with whom he'd been watching TV since the rest of the family was sleeping and his mother at work. "Ruby, answer me!"
"I...I am running away from Ethan's house and I need you to come get me, please!", Ruby sobbed. She knew her mom wasn't home tonight and had therefore called her big brother. "Should I wait here?"
"I am getting into my car right now and I will be with you in ten minutes. Go back to the house and put something on, you're freezing!", the seventeen-year-old ordered and repeated himself more clearly. "You are a fourteen-year-old girl and shouldn't run through Seattle's dark streets by yourself at night. So, no matter what happened between you two, wait in front of his house for me."
"RYAN!", his sister cried after she had thrown her things in the backseat and taken the passenger seat. She basically threw herself into his arms and he tried to soothe her by cuddling her tightly.
"Shh, everything is fine! I am here now!", the brunette promised his little sister softly and gently swayed them back and forth. The other three noticed the car of the seventeen-year-old through the window and were relieved. "What happened?"
"Can I tell you tomorrow? I just want to go home.", Ruby sniffled after a while, causing her brother to nod and drive her home, where Evelyn was already waiting. "Grandma!", the girl smiled slightly, she couldn't hide her red puffy face anyway.
"Come here, my love!", her granny said and embraced the fourteen-year-old. "You can sleep in mama's bed with Luca, the dogs and me tonight.", she decided. Both former guestrooms were now the baby room and Lily's room, which only needed a few more things to be completed.

"Who do we have?", Amelia wanted to know at 3am in the morning, as she ran outside together with April, Teddy, and Alex. She was rather exhausted but had to continue her shift until 6am. Once she saw the patient, any kind of exhaustion was immediately gone.
"Ethan Todd, 15 years old – drank himself into a coma. Stupid youth of today!", one of the paramedics shared and was hit by his colleague because of his unacceptable behavior.
"Were there other teenagers?", the neurosurgeon asked afraid and therefore accidentally hesitated, meaning she didn't grant her daughter's boyfriend the immediate care he needed. "A girl that looks like me?"
"No, ma'am...just two other friends who called 911 and said the young man had locked them out for two hours, which caused them to luckily make the call out of fear. I am sorry.", the other paramedic replied and watched the woman nod.
"Amelia, we can page Derek or Tom!", April promised when they finally started moving and pushed the blonde into a trauma room. Teddy began checking the boy's heart functions.
"No, Derek is at home and it will be a while until he's here and Tom is currently operating. I am his only chance.", Amelia realized and tried to save her patient. Once he was stable, they arranged a CT which confirmed the coma.
It was already 4:49am now and the brunette ran into the attendings' lounge to glance at her private phone, on which she actually did find a message from Ryan. He explained that he had picked up Ruby, who had been pretty upset but that she seemed fine other than that. She had received it at 11:54pm.
Now it was time to inform the fifteen-year-old's parents. The neurosurgeon volunteered to do the job, since she was friends with them.
"Amelia, I think it's time for you to go home.", Alex suggested with a small smile after watching his friend walk into Ethan's room to make the call. "I have this under control and you're super tired."
"He was visiting so many times during the last weeks...he was okay, Alex.", Amelia finally started crying. "He's such a sweet boy! I don't understand that! He doesn't deserve this!", she sobbed.
"He'll be alright, I know it.", the peds surgeon lied as he hugged her and then repeated his demand: "Go home, sleep a little! You have to tell Ruby later, so you need some calmness before you do."

Ryan and Katie had left to get his siblings from their camps and Evelyn was outside playing with Leo and Lily. Luca was finally allowed to play with his big brother's PS4, so Amelia and Ruby could be alone.
"What happened yesterday, angel?", the mother of eight carefully questioned. She had kept Ethan's condition a secret until now and wanted to know what had been going on from her daughter first.
"Well, everything was normal...we were watching a movie in the evening and I was cold. So, I asked Ethan if I could get a sweater from his dresser and he nodded. I opened it and looked for one when I noticed something hard. It was a bottle of vodka.", the fourteen-year-old sniffled again.
"Was it open?", the neurosurgeon wanted to know, which confused her. She just shook her head. "Alright, what happened after?", she calmly questioned. A whole bottle of vodka could have killed Ethan, he was lucky to be alive.
"Eth came in and saw I had found the alcohol. I didn't let him speak and asked what this was supposed to be...", Ruby sadly swallowed. "He didn't have an explanation. All the headaches have probably been because he'd been drinking, Mom!", she sobbed. "But he was fine for the whole week without any alcohol, so he's most likely okay in general."
"He's not.", Amelia sighed upset and grasped her daughter's hand. She was looking at her even more confused now while tears rolled down her cheeks. "He was brought to the hospital this morning and is in a coma because he got really drunk. Probably after you ran away."
"No, no, no, no, no! Never! Mom, don't lie to me too!", the young brunette mumbled but saw it in her mother's eyes that she was telling the truth. "It's my fault...", she whispered, her heart breaking.
"Let us not discuss whose fault it is. Ethan voluntarily drank the vodka, baby.", the neurosurgeon reminded her daughter, who was staring at her mama's legs. "You can see him this evening if you want to...but he doesn't look like himself."
"When is he going to wake up?", the fourteen-year-old innocently wanted to know and gazed into her mother's sad eyes again. "He will wake up, right mommy?", she sobbed and threw herself into Amelia's arms, as she didn't have an answer to this question.
