Diego parked the car and turned it off.

"I know this Jenkins dude has to have a record," Diego took his seatbelt off, "we gotta get out hands on this file."

"And your plan is to what? Waltz in and just ask for it?" Allison asked.

"I know the station like the back of my hand, sis. I've spent a lot of time inside," he said.

"Handcuffed," Allison said.

"Whatever. Here's the plan," Diego started.

"Plan? I'm just gonna blink in and get the file," Five said.

"No, that's not... you don't know the ins and outs of this place, okay?" Diego said.

"I literally just did this yesterday," Five said.

We all gave him a confused look.

"What?" Diego asked.

"My yesterday, not your yesterday," Five said, "it'll take two seconds."

"Listen to me. You are not going in there. I made a call. That's what a leader does. He leads," Diego said.

"Five, just let him go," I said, "You guys keep wasting time with all this arguing."

Five sighs, "Fine."

While Diego gets the file, Allison, Five, and I wait outside.

"Are you okay? You look a little pale," I told Five as Allison uses the payphone.

"I'm fine. Just tired," he said.

"Five—"

"Y/N, I'm fine. Seriously," he said.

"Okay," I said even though I know somethings wrong.

"Oh, when we get back to the academy, we have to redo our promise to each other," Five said.

"You planning on leaving me again?" I joked.

"Hell no. I just don't want to always worry that you'll slip into a coma if I leave the room," he said.

"Yeah, that's true," I said, "Wait, do you think that if I left, you would go into a coma?"

"Possibly, but let's not find out," he chuckled.

Diego walks over to us with the file in his hand.

"You're welcome," he held the file out.

Allison snatched it from him and flipped through it, "holy shit! Harold Jenkins is Leonard Peabody."

We all looked at each other before going back to the car and getting in.

We showed up at Leonard's house and got out of the car.

"Be careful, okay? We don't know what Peabody's capable of," Allison said.

I nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, he didn't seem dangerous when I first saw him. Looked kinda scrawny," Diego said.

"Yeah, well, so are most serial killers and mass murders. I mean look at him," Allison points at Five.

"Thanks," Five said.

"Good point. So, what does this guy want with Vanya?" Diego asked.

"I don't know. How about we ask him after we kill him?" Five said as we walked up the front steps.

"Five!" I yelled.

"What?" he asked.

"Woah, Woah. Hey, look. I'm gonna burst through—" Diego turns to see that Allison disappeared.

"Where did she go?" I asked.

"You know what? It would be nice for people to stick to—"

Five took my hand and blinked us inside.

"Diego was talking," I said.

"So?"

"Hey," Allison said walking in behind us.

"How'd you get in?" I asked.

"I may have been here before..."

All the sudden, Diego busted through the door. He fell onto the ground and groaned.

"Subtle," Allison said.

I opened the door to see that it was unlocked.

"You know, the door was unlocked," Five said.

Diego stood up, "Yeah, well, my way works just fine."

"Keep telling yourself that," I patter his shoulder.

"Spread out. Yell if you, uh... you know, you're in trouble," Diego said walking into the kitchen.

"Ah, inspiring leadership," Five said.

"One of the greats," Allison chuckled.

Allison and I went upstairs. I was going to look around the rooms, but Allison stopped me and pointed up at the attic door.

She pulled it down and we walked up there to see a shrine. I'm even up there. No one really cared about me because I never went on any missions.

"Guys, you need to see this!" I yelled.

Both Five and Diego came up and looked at the shrine.

"All our faces are burnt off," Allison said.

"Well, that's not creepy," Diego said, "this guy has some serious issues."

"Shit," they both said.

Five started gasping for air. I turned to look at him, "Five?"

"This was never about Vanya. This was about us," Allison said.

Five looked at me before falling down.

"Five!" I yelled.

We all knelt beside him.

"Blood," Allison said before lifting his shirt to see a shrapnel wound.

"Jesus, Five," Diego said, "Why didn't you say anything?"

"You have to keep going. So... close," Five said before passing out.

"Five?" I asked.

"Five," Diego lightly tapped his face.

Shit.

"We have to get him back to the academy. I can't heal him while the shrapnel's still inside," I said.

Diego and Allison nodded as they picked him up.

We got back to the academy and carried Five upstairs to his room.

"Shit, I need to find mom's first-aid kit," I said.

"No need, sweetie. I got it," mom said walking in.

"Mom?" We all asked.

"How are you walking around?" Diego asked.

"One foot in front of the other. Why? How do you do it?" she asked.

"I have questions too. But Five really needs our help," I said.

Mom nodded and we walked over to his bed.

She lifted him up and I removed his blazer and vest and tossed them aside. Mom laid him back down and unbuttoned his shirt.

"Okay, I'll get the shrapnel out and then you can heal him," Mom said.

I nodded as she picked up the tweezers and slowly took the shrapnel out.

I placed my hand over the wound and focused on it healing.

"Good job, sweetie," Mom patted my shoulder.

I smiled.

The next morning

I sat in the chair that's in Five's room reading a book. I haven't left his side all night.

"Y/N?"

I look up from my book, "You're up!"

I got up and went over to sit on the side of his bed.

"Did you sleep in the chair?" he asked.

"Yeah, why?" I asked.

"Why didn't you just share the bed with me?"

"I didn't want to wake you up," I said.

"I wouldn't have minded," he said.

"I know. But the chair was fine."

He rolls his eyes and climbs out of bed.

"Five, be careful!" I yelled.

"You healed me. I'm okay," he chuckled.

"I don't care. You scared me! And you lied to me when I asked you if you were okay!" I yelled.

"I know. I'm sorry," he helped me up and pulled me into a hug.

"I'm still mad at you," I said in his chest.

"you'll get over it," he said.

I rolled my eyes as he let me go.

"Now, I need some coffee," he said taking my hand and blinking us to the kitchen.

Klaus was pouring coffee into some cups. Luther picked one up and went to take a sip, but Five stole it from him before he could even drink it.

He sat down with the cup in his hand.

"Luther, you look like shit," I said sitting down at the end of the table.

"Thanks," he mumbled as he picked up another cup of coffee.

"Y/N, do you want some hot chocolate?" Klaus asked.

"Yes!" I said.

Five chuckled at me before taking a sip of his coffee.

"Jesus, who do I gotta kill to get a decent cup of coffee?" Five said putting the cup down.

Luther groans, "Can we get started? Please."

"Started on what?" I asked.

"Klaus said he has to talk to us," Luther said.

Klaus walks over and sets a mug of hot chocolate in front of me.

"Thanks, Klausy," I said before taking a sip.

Klaus makes some good hot chocolate!

He smiled at me before picking up a spatula, "anyone seen any of the others? Diego? Allison? No?"

"I haven't seen them since we brought Five back from Harold Jenkins house," I said.

"All right, then. This is the closest thing to a quorum..." Klaus bangs the spatula on the table, "that we're gonna get. Now, listening up."

I set my mug down and looked at him.

"Now, there's no easy way to say this, so I'm just gonna spit it out," he stops talking for a second, "yeah."

Yeah, what?

"Klaus," Luther said.

"I conjured dad last night," Klaus said.

We all looked at each other before looking back at him.

"You said you haven't been able to conjure anyone in years," Luther said.

"Ah, yes, I know, but I'm sober. Ta-da!" Klaus said, "I got clean, yesterday, to talk to someone special."

I smiled at him.

"And then ended up having this... conversation with dear old daddy himself," he said.

"Has anyone got any aspirin?" Luther asked completely ignoring what Klaus said.

"Top shelf next to the crackers," Five said.

Luther went to get up, but Klaus stopped him, "Hey, hey, hey. This is serious, guys, all right? This really happened, I swear."

"Guys seriously," I said looking at Luther and Five.

Five looked at me before looking back at Klaus, "Okay, fine. I'll play. What did the old man have to say?"

"Well, he gave me the usual lecture about my appearance and my failures in life. No surprise there. Even the afterlife couldn't soften a hardass like dad, right?" Klaus said, "but he did mention something about Y/N and something about his murder."

"What about me?" I asked.

"Apparently, you can do way more than just heal people," Klaus said.

Five and I looked at each other and then back at Klaus.

"What do you mean I can do more than just heal people?" I asked.

"I'm not entirely sure," he said.

"How did dad explain it?" Five asked.

"he said that when she heals someone she has to focus on healing them. So, apparently, you can do anything to a person's body just by focusing on doing it," Klaus said.

"Huh?" we all asked.

"Dad said and I quote, she can touch someone and focus on the thing she wants to happen to them, and it'll happen in seconds," Klaus quoted.

We all sat in shock.

"He said you have body manipulation powers," Klaus said.

Why would dad keep this from me?

"Did he say why he didn't tell me?" I asked.

"No, sorry," he said.

"Okay, then what about Dad's murder?" I asked.

"Wait, don't you want to talk about this?" Five asked.

"We can later. I'm still trying to process it," I said.

"Are you sure, Y/N?" Klaus asked.

I nodded, "Now, what about his murder?"

"Well, that's the thing... he wasn't murdered... he killed himself."

Luther rolled his eyes and stood up, "I don't have time for games, Klaus."

"I'm telling you the truth, Luther. I'm telling you the truth," Klaus said.

"Why did he do it, then?" Five asked.

"He said it was the only way to get us all home again," Klaus said.

"No. Dad wouldn't just kill himself," Luther said.

"You said it yourself. He was depressed," Five told Luther, "Holed up in his office and room all day and night."

"No. There weren't any signs," Luther said, "suicidal people exhibit certain tendencies, strange behaviors."

"Like sending someone to the moon for no reason?" Klaus asked.

"I swear to God, Klaus, if you're lying..." Luther said.

"I'm not. I'm not."

"Master Klaus is correct."

We all turned to see Pogo.

"Regretfully, I helped Master Hargreeves enact his plan," Pogo said.

"What?" Luther asked.

"So did Grace," Pogo said, "it was a difficult choice for the both of us. More difficult than you could ever know. Prior to your father's death, Grace's programming was adjusted so she was incapable of administrating first aid on that fateful night."

"Sick bastard," Five said.

"So, the security tape we saw?" Luther asked.

"It was meant to further the mystery. Your father hoped that being back here, solving it together would reignite your desires to be a team again," Pogo explained.

"And to what end?" Five asked.

"To save the world, of course," Pogo replied.

Klaus laughs, "all right."

"First the moon mission and now this. You watched me search for answers and said nothing," Luther said to Pogo, "Anything else you want to share, Pogo? Any other damn secrets?"

"Luther, calm down," I said.

"No, I won't calm down!" he yelled, "We've been lied to by the one person in this family we all trusted."

"Hey, we all trust Y/N," Klaus said.

"I'm making a point here, Klaus!" Luther said.

"It was your father's dying wish, Master Luther," Pogo said, "I-I had no choice."

Luther walked over to him, "there's always a choice."

Pogo looks down as Luther walks out. Pogo follows a few seconds later.

"So, dad killed himself and Y/N has body manipulation powers... I gotta think," Five said taking my hand and blinking us to his room.

I sat down on his bed, and he sat next to me.

"Why would dad tell me that I can only heal people?" I asked.

"I don't know," he takes my hand, "but do you want to test them out?"

"I'm not going to hurt you!" I said.

"you'll heal me afterward."

"Five..."

"Y/N, come on. Just cut my arm or something," he said.

I looked into his eyes, "Are you sure?"

"Yes. Now do something," he said.

I close my eyes and he gives my hand an assuring squeeze. I focus on making a small cut appear on his right leg.

He winces and I open my eyes.

He lifted his leg and sure enough, there was a bleeding cut.

"Holy shit!" we both said.

I quickly healed it and looked at Five, "I just did that..."

He smiled, "you just did that."

He gets up and picks up a knife off his desk, "While we're here, let's redo our promise."

"Okay, well, you're going first," I said.

He chuckles, "what's our new promise going to be?

"Well, we don't have to change it. Just add to it," I shrugged.

He nodded.

"I, Five Hargreeves," he dragged the knife over his hand, "promise to always be there for you, my best friend, Y/N Hargreeves. Even if I can't always physically be there."

He hands me the knife.

"I, Y/N Hargreeves," I dragged the knife over my hand, "promise to always be there for you, my best friend, Five Hargreeves. Even if I can't always physically be there."

We put our hands together.

"Hopefully, that fixed everything," Five said as he took the knife and went over to his desk to get some gauze.

"I hope so," I said.

He wrapped his hand and then he wrapped mine.

"Now that that's done, we're going to get Klaus and look for Harold Jenkins." Five said.
