Previous chapter:
I looked him in the eyes before I asked him, "Am I pregnant?"

Calina's pov

His quiet demeanor was answer enough for me. "I trusted you," I said in a whisper, shaking my head, as the tears blurred my vision before I blinked and they flew across my face.

"I really trusted you." Then, I turned and left his office.

"Calina!" I heard him calling for me. But I didn't stop, I stormed out of his office and ran into my room, before slamming the door after me and locking it.

"Calina! Please! Open the door and let's talk!" he told me from the other side of the door. "Go away!" I said hurt as I slumped next to the door.

"Listen! Sara said to wait until you completely healed as we didn't know how the news would react your healing process! Now, that you were feeling better, I wanted to tell you very soon, in a few days. I wasn't going to hide it from you!" he told me as I sat numbly on the floor, leaning my head against the door, not answering him.

"I'm coming in," I heard him say before I heard the keys rattle and the door unlock. Then, I was pushed against the wall when he opened the door and got in.

My gaze was fixed on his shoes before he sat down next to me on the floor and gently grabbed my face, making me look at him.

"I wanted to tell you, Sara said we had no way of knowing how you would react to your pregnancy. She claimed that it was very important to keep your motivation high before the transplant and during your recovery," he told me again.

"She only told me yesterday that I could tell you, but I didn't know how to convey such news to you. I was just thinking about how to tell you before you confronted me in the office. But I really didn't mean to hide it from you."

And as I looked into his eyes, I could see that he was telling the truth. I knew he wasn't lying. I could tell because I knew a liar if I saw one, or just looked in the mirror as I lied for years when I was on the run with Adrian.

"I believe you," I muttered as he wiped my tears away and pulled me closer to him. "And do you still trust me?" he asked me now as I sat on his lap, my head against his chest.

"I do," I sighed, nodding my head. Letting put a sigh of relief, he lifted my face up, making me look in his eyes again, telling me, "I won't force you to do anything. There's still time if you don't want the baby."

"But if you want it, I want you to know that I will support you in everything. I will love it, whether it is from him or from me. I'll love it like it's my own child," he promised me.

I frowned. He didn't know it was his child. But I knew it was his child. But the fact that he told me he would love it even if it wasn't his made me love him even more. He accepted me with everything that came with me.

"It can't be his. We haven't had sex since we met. Every time he tried to touch me, I got on his nerves and ended up getting hurt before he stormed out," I told him.

"It's mine?" he asked me and I nodded my head. "And I want to keep it," I told him. He gave me a genuine smile before hugging me tightly.

"I want this baby. I want it because I love you, it's part of you and I see what a wonderful father you are."

"I love you, I love the life that grows in you and I will protect you with my life. I'll protect you all four with my life, I promise," he muttered as he put his hand on my stomach.

Smiling a little, I hugged him. If he was ready to protect us at all costs, then I was ready to open up and share my past with him. I trusted him enough to tell him about my pain so that he could heal me.

"You're the second man, that makes me feel safe," I muttered agitated. "And who's the first?" he asked me jealously. "Adrian, my brother," I admitted.

"My family never made me feel safe, as I knew they'd only trade me for power when I was of age. And when I was only seventeen, my father promised me to him," I muttered as his hand stopped on my stomach and he listened to me in silence.

"I ran away on my wedding day after robbing my own father. I needed a fresh start, so I needed money. And a new identity. Adrian, he's a very good hacker, found two doppelgangers, lured them to Russia and killed them. We took over their lives. Everything went great for years until I made a big mistake. Coincidentally, when I found Raphael's brother injured, I helped him as he had a concussion and had lost his memory. After I took care of his wounds, he left. The next day, Raphael was at my door. He thought that I murdered his brother. He thought I was Evelina Turgenev, the girl whose identity I had taken. He kidnapped, tortured, raped me, made me his surrogate, married, then raped me again until I escaped to the US, and from there you already know what happened," I muttered.

"I'm sorry, baby," he kissed my temple. "You don't have to apologize for my past, as it's not your fault what happened to me," I told him firmly.

"Alright, but I promise you that he will not be able to get close to you again, I will not let him hurt you again. He has to kill me first, before he can put a finger on you, I will protect you and the children at all costs," he told me, hugging me tightly

"I know," I muttered relaxed, hugging him back.

And I felt safe in his arms. Moreover, I felt like a stone fell from my heart as I opened up to him.

*****

It was evening. We all sat in the living room.

"What do you want to speak us mom?" Zia asked me. "We say talk, not speak," Draven said with a whiskey in his hand.

"Right," I sighed before looking at the children. "Would you be happy to have a sibling?" I asked them both.

I wanted them to know about my pregnancy. I wanted them to know about it soon. After all, the would have a sibling in nine months. And I hoped that they would be happy to have a sibling.

"Yes! It would be fun! Then it would be me, Lucy and our sibling! And we could all play together," Zia responded happily.

"Yes! Where is our sibling?" Lucy asked curiously.

"In Calina's stomach," Draven said, pointing to my stomach.

"Mom, did you eat our sibling?" Zia asked in surprise.

"Dad!" Lucy got up from the couch and ran scared to her father.

"No!" I said, getting up from the couch when Draven looked at me in amusement with Lucy on his lap. I approached them when I saw him let Lucy sniff his drink before almost letting her taste it. I took away the glass and poured it into the plant. "And for God's sake, you don't give kids whiskey!"

"She wouldn't drink it anyway because it's too bitter! I just wanted to see her grimace!" he claimed defensively.

"Mom? Why did you eat our siblings?" Zia asked me sadly. "I didn't eat it," I said with a sigh, rubbing my temples. I got a headache and Draven didn't help it at all.

"You were in my stomach too. Your sibling is really very small at the moment!"

"Yeah, you can imagine--" I put my hand over his mouth before he could finish that damn sentence.

"It has to grow a bit before it can come out," I tried to explain it to them in the most understandable way possible. I wish I just said the shrubs would bring their sibling in nine months then it wouldn't be that complicated.

"How does it come out?" Lucy asked me curiously and Draven muffled into my hand something before rolling his eyes. "In the hospital they take it out," I told them with a smile.

"Okay! When are they going to take our siblings out?" Lucy asked me. "In nine months, it will be a long time before your sibling is big enough for them to take it out of me," I told them.

"Wait, how is it Lucy's sibling. Is it not in your stomach, mom? You're not her mom," Zia told me with a frown.

"Dad? Do you have a baby in your stomach too?" Lucy asked excitedly, rubbing Draven's stomach, which made me laugh.

He raised his eyebrows at her before removing my hand and saying, "No! The baby in Calina's womb is mine. Calina is the mom and I am the dad of your sibling."

"So, mom's baby isn't my dad?" she muttered confused. "What you said sounded like a different language, but no, I am the dad of your mom's baby and she is the mom," he told her.

"So, she will have a daddy? And a mommy?" Zia asked with a frown, since it was too much for her to process everything.

"If you want, I can be your daddy too," Draven said after a while while looking at her. I smiled at his words.

Zia looked at him. "I do not know. I had a daddy, I don't like having a daddy," she muttered.

"I can be a completely different daddy, not like him. I can be a daddy like I am a daddy to Lucretia. I can love you, you can hug me, you can come to me when you have problems or need something. I don't know if you like me, but I would love to be your daddy," he told her and I couldn't help but get emotional.

"A daddy like you are to Lucy? Read me stories? Bring me to kindergarten?" she asked hesitantly. He smiled at her before nodding his head.

"Okay...daddy," she said hesitantly, and I couldn't help but smile as tears of joy left my eyes. She wished for a dad for half a year, and I thought I could never give her one the way she imagined in her head.

"Can Calina be my mom too then?" Lucy asked suddenly. "If she wants," he said, looking at me.

"I would also love to be your mommy, I already love you like my daughter," I told her as I looked at her.

She smiled at me before saying,

"I love you too mom!"

*****

The children were already in bed. I sat in the pavilion in the backyard and enjoyed the sunset, but also wondering how Adrian was doing. I tensed up when I was hugged from behind, but relaxed when I realized it was Draven.

"I am so happy about the day you came into my life, baby, I didn't know that something was missing until I met you," he told me, sitting down next to me before pulling me onto his lap.

"Are you sure? Because I not only brought happiness, but also war," I told him sadly. "I would fight and fight and fight for you because you are worth it, Calina," he said with a sigh as he snuggled his head into the crook of my neck.

"I just hope we'll win this fight with his as soon as possible because I'm tired of watching the people I love getting hurt," I said, thinking of Adrian.

"We'll," he assured me, before turning my face towards him, asking me with a frown as he saw the worried expression on my face, "what's bothering you?"

"Adrian," I admitted with a sigh, "I know you said you'll keep him safe as I ... accepted your gift."

"And I did," he told me with an amused smile. "It's just still worries me not to know how he's doing, if he's really alright," I confessed him how I felt.

"He's safe, but his family and your brother moved from their previous home to another," he told me, making me frown. "What? Why?" I asked confused, but also a little alarmed.

"Relax, the man I positioned before his home to keep him safe, he noticed them and thought they were Raphael's man, and left his home without my men noticing," he informed me, doing something on his phone, before holding the device in front of my face, "and left this note sprayed on the ground."

It's not easy to catch a master like me, you gotta play smarter, asshole.

"He hates Morelli. I like him," Draven said with a grin. "Do you know where he is now?" I asked him.

"Not yet, but the devices he has with him aren't good enough to erase his traces completely, we'll find him soon," he said, and I nodded my head.

"And the phone you used to call him, it isn't that well crypted, I had given it to you to call him, in order to track him, as I thought I'd find more about you out over him," he informed me. "You used me?" I gasped.

"I just wanted to know why you were acting so defensive, and you just played right into my hands, baby," he shrugged. "And talking about playing, I did the changings in the cloud-nine room you desired."

"How did the conversation come from a serious conversation to a kinky topic?" I asked him confused.

"I guess, I am good at changing topics, but I am also good at other things I'd desire to show you."

"Then, show me!"
