(3rd prov, Dick is 16 years old after leaving Gotham)
I was driving away from Gotham, I watched as the city became smaller and smaller until it disappeared. Some tears were coming down my checks, other than the circus Gotham was the only home I knew and now im not welcomed in it. I couldnt come back to Gotham even if I wanted to, Bruce would find out and then probably run me out. What am I going to do now, im only 16 with no where to live and no clue where im going. Luckily money isnt a problem since me and my parents were famous we got alot of money, which then became all mine since I am the only one alive. Plus it helps that Haley still puts money from what the circus gets payed onto the card I have from my days there. Of course its only a part of the money they earn but its still a pretty big amount, even though I tell him to stop putting money onto the card he still does it. Now im more than glad he continued doing that, I at least dont have to worry about money.
I didnt even realize I was coming up to Metropolis until it was to late and I was in the city. I decided to pull off to eat and do somethings. I pulled into a ally way and parked there, then I pulled out the container of food and leaned up against the wall and started to eat. While I was eating I decided to hack into the system of the watch tower and see how they came to the conclusion on me. I was looking through the files and then went to the cameras and went to yesterday. I saw that the league had a meeting so I clicked on the video and started to watch it
There sat the original 6 members of the league at the horse shoe table they had. At the head was Batman with Wonder Woman and MM on his left then Superman, Green Lantern, and the Flash on his right. They all had a serious faces on and were all looking at Batman
"We are here today to discuss the topic of mole in the Young Justice team. We have come to the conclusion that the mole is Robin aka Dick Grayson. All of the evidence points to him but we need to catch him in the act" Batman said
"Yeah totally was me, you know your son and partner for 7 years now. yeah totally was me" I said under my breath
"But how do we catch him in the act. The kid was trained by you, so he knows how hide things from us and we wont find out until it is to late" Wonder Woman asked
"Thats right I was trained by him, so I do the same things as him but apparently im not trust worthy even though he is the one that did it first" I said a bit louder
"The next time the team goes on a mission we will have them watch Robin and have them tell us what happens. In the mean time we will have a close eye on him at all times, have the kids secretly follow him and watch him make sure he doesnt send anything and if he does then we will have our evidence" Batman said
"But wont he notice people watching him. You trained him to watch his surroundings and everything" Flash said
"We dont tell the kids the full reasoning behind them watching him, so to Robin it looks like they are doing what they usually do but really they are watching him" Superman said
"What about when he isnt at the mountain then what do we do" Green Lantern asked
"My butler already has cameras everywhere in the house so I will be able to watch him without actually being there. I have the camera footage hooked up to my phone so I have eyes on him at all times" Batman said
"Why does he have cameras around the house" Wonder Woman asked
"So he knows what is going on at all times and in case a villain decides to break into the house we have his cameras the ones I have set up personally" Batman said
"Ok then. When is the kids next mission then" MM asked
"Its in a week unless something happens before then. For now we have Canary training with them and the days they spend at the mountain"
"Does Canary know about what is going on" Flash asked
"Yes she does. Although she thinks we have to the wrong person. She said that she will keep a eye on him but she doesnt agree with us" Superman said
"Well at least I had one person on my side"
"Anything else we need to go over while we are here then" Wonder Woman asked
"What are we going to do if he is the traitor" Green Lantern asked
"He will be kicked off the team and no longer have access to anything with the league. He will not be allowed back into the mountain or the watch tower, if he does try to enter either one we will treat him how we treat other people who break in and through him into a cell. He will also no longer be Robin, the name will be taken away from him" Batman said
"Robin isnt something you can just take away like you owned it in the first place. Its my name not your da...Bruce, my mother gave me the name not you. You dont own it" I yelled
"What will we do about the public and people close to him. They will notice if he just vanished'" Green Lantern asked
"We make something up" Superman said
"Why not just tell the truth" Flash asked
"Because it will be the same with when we first heared about the mole. If they found out we had one whose to say we dont have another one, so therefore they will not trust us because they wouldnt know if there is another mole or not" MM said
"That makes sense I guess" Flash said
"Now that this meeting is over I have places to be. Meeting dismissed" Batman said
Everyone got up and started to get ready to leave. Batman was about to walk out the door when Flash asked something and everyone froze
"Wait, what will you do if he is the traitor. I mean the kid lives with you, you are is father. So what will you do then"
Everyone looked at Batman waiting for his response. Batman was silent with his back to them but then he turned a bit so they could hear him better and spoke
"Kick him out"
Then batman walked out without another word. Everyone else just looked at each other and then nodded agreeing with Batmans choice
I turned off the screen on my glove (idk what the glove is actually called) and just sat there thinking over what I just watched. I didnt even realize I was crying until I felt the tears hit my hand. I tried to rub away the tears but they kept coming so I gave up
"They didnt even think twice about their choice. My aunt and uncles didnt even think twice about if I was the traitor or not. They agreed with da....Bruce's decision to kick me out and disown me. My....family abandoned me, without looking back, not one ounce of regret. I....I thought...... I thought they loved me"
"No one loves you"
no...no not this again
"no one loves you, why do you think your first family left you. And now this one saw the same thing they did, and left you. No one loves you"
stop it. stop it!!!
"How could you believe people actually loved you. wow you really are stupid"
STOP!!
I was sitting there clutching my head and pulling on my head. Tears were streaming down my face, I just want the voice to stop. Why did they have to come back. I need to get help but who can I go to. Bruce kicked me out, Wally agreed with everyone else, everyone else also agreed with the traitor thing, maybe I could go to Barbra....no she's in Gotham and im sure she was told I was the traitor by Bruce by now
"I actually didnt tell her that. She just thinks your dead" Bruce said
"Hey kid, you ok" A random guy asked kicking me out of my thoughts
"Honestly no" I said
The guy sat down next to me. I looked over at him and he didnt look dangerous but I still kept my guard up
"You want to talk about it" He asked
I looked at him trying to see if he was going to hurt me or try something
"Dont worry I wont hurt you. Even if I wanted to I have nothing to hurt you with. I just heard crying and came down here, I live in the next ally way over and since I know no one lives down this ally I got curious. So I ask again you want to talk about it" He said
I continued to look at him though, He does look like he lives in a ally. But I come from a place were you dont trust people like him since they are always just trying to get money or something
"Will it help you to trust me if I told you why I live on the streets and my life story" He asked
I nodded my head. Before he started to talk though I heard his stomach growl
"hehe sorry I havent eaten in a while" He said while rubbing the back of his neck
"Its fine, here I have some food left over. You can have it, sorry its not much" I said handing him the rest of my food
Sure he might be doing this just for money but either way im not going to let him go starved, everyone deserves to eat something
"Thanks kid" He said while taking the food
"Ok so first my name is Kaden Jones. You dont have to tell me your name if you dont want to but I just thought you should know mine"
I nodded and listened to him. He took a bite of the cookie and his eyes lit up
"Whoa this is the best cookie I have ever had. Im saving this for the end now. Anyways my life was going good, I had a nice job, a wife and a daughter, a nice house. Over all it was going good, sure I had ups and downs"
"Who doesnt" I laughed a bit
Kaden also laughed and continued "Well one night it went down hill. Me and my family were on our way home from a night out, we saw a movie based off of my daughters favorite book, Bridge to Terabethia"
"Thats my favorite book also, My mom would read it to me whenever I couldnt sleep. The movie was good to" I said sadly remembering when I was little
"My daughter loved it and wouldnt read something else for weeks. We were on our way home from that when a truck ran a red light and hit us. He hit us so hard, when I came to we were upside down and the paramedics were getting my daughter out of the back. I remember looking over and seeing my wife with blood coming out of her head and her face was all bloody. The paramedics finally pulled me out
"I had a broken arm, head damage, and a few ribs broken. While I was in the hospital they told me my wife didnt make it, they did everything they could but it was to late she lost to much blood"
"What about your daughter" I asked you could hear the worry in my voice
Kaden took a deep breath "She's still alive, but she's in a coma"
"Im so sorry" I said
"She been in a coma for a year now almost a year and a half. I go and see her has much as I can but its hard to. After the accident I wasnt the same, I was more angry and would lash out at people. I guess I missed to many days and lashed out one to many times because next thing I know im getting fired. Since I didnt have any money to pay the bills I lost my house also. Now im just trying to make ends meet and keep my daughter alive. Its hard sometimes though I havent been able to find a job and the hospital bills are so much. But I always try to look on the bright sides of things"
"Im sorry this happened to you, you seem like a really nice guy. How old his your daughter" I asked
"She's 9 now almost 10 "
"Im so sorry, I know you are probably sick of people saying that but I truly am. Would you mind if I visit with you one of these times you go and see her" I asked
1) I feel bad for the dude 2) I still dont trust him completely so I want to make sure this is true 3) if it is then im going to help him the best I can
"Sure I was heading to go see her today anyways that is before I heard you crying"
"Why didnt you just keep walking then" I asked
"Because I wanted to help you, you seem really sad. plus if my wife was still here then she would be yelling at me if I didnt help you same with my daughter" Kaden laughed the last part
I started to laugh with him
"Theres a laugh. Now how about you, what's your story" Kaden asked
I went quite at that but then took a deep breath and started to explain everything to him. From my circus days to now. All though I did leave out the whole Robin and Batman thing
"Wow kid you've had a rough life thats for sure. And they all just betrayed you like that without any evidence or anything"
"Yeah pretty much. The person who I thought was a father to me even kicked me out, so now im like you and homeless. I dont know where im going to go or what to do" I said
Honestly it felt good to talk to someone about all of this and to actually talk through it and soak in what happened
"You will figure out what to do. From what I heard you are a problem solver. You may not know what to do now but you will figure out what to do and when you do you will look back and see how stupid you were for thinking it was the end" Kaden said
Some how those words made me feel better. Made me feel like I could do something and I would figure out what to do
"Thanks. You dont know how much those words helped just now" I said
"Your welcome. Just remember to not listen to the little voice in your head"
"How did you know about that voice" I asked shocked
"We all have one weather it be good or not we all have one. And from what I saw when I came to you, I could tell it was a bad voice. I know what it looks like to have a bad voice in your head. My best friend had a bad voice in her head" Kaden said sadly
"Im assuming the bad voice won" I asked lowly
"Yeah it did. 10 years ago the voice won"
It was silent for a bit before I started to speak
"Thank you for cheering me back up. Now you ready to go and see your daughter" I asked
"Your welcome it was also nice to talk to someone about my life. Yes I am lets get going" Kaden said and then started to walk out of the ally
"Where you going" I asked
"To the hospital"
"Well I know that, but hop on" I said and got on my bike
"Wait thats yours" He asked
"Yeah now do you want to ride or do you want to walk"
He got on the bike as fast as he could and told me what hospital his daughter was was in
(time skip to the hospital)
We have been at the hospital for a while now. His daughter name is Jasmine, named after his wife favorite flower. I talked to her a bit even if she is in a coma, it is said that they can still hear and feel things so I talked to her and told her the surprise im planning for her dad. I told her she should wake up soon so that she can see it herself and so her and her dad can be happy together again
"I will be right back ok" I said to the two
"Ok we will be here" Kaden said
I walked down to the lobby and walked up to the desk
"Hello how may I help you young man" The lady asked
"Where do I go if I want to pay off hospital bills"
"Oh um here I guess but arent you to young to do this" She asked (dont come at me if this isnt how you do this im only 17 and have no clue how this actually happens)
"Im only 16. now what do I have to do" I said determined
"Umm.. ok whos bills are you paying for then" She asked seeing I wasnt going take no
"Jasmine Jones. the 9 year old in the coma" I said
"Yes I know her. Tragedy what happened. Are you sure you want to pay these bills they are pretty high since her father lost his job"
"Yes im sure. Here is my card. please bill all of the payments to this card for now on"
"Ok? if you are sure"
She took my card and started to type everything in. Then she hit a button and waited. A dinging sound went off and she was surprised
"Everything is payed for. In one go, those bills were up in the thousands" She said
I just smiled at her and took my card back and walked away. Before I went back to Jasmines room I found a empty room and started to look online on my glove at places that were up for sale. I smiled finding a affordable two bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in a nice area of town. The inside was huge and the kitchen and bathroom were good. The master bedroom was the right size same with the other bedroom. It was perfect. I bought it and made sure the rent came out of my card and then walked back to Jasmines room smiling
"What are you smiling about" Kaden asked me when he saw me
"Oh nothing I just have a surprise for you and Jasmine. You helped me in ways that words cant describe so now I want to help you and your daughter"
"You didnt have to"
"But I wanted to"
I then showed the apartment to Kaden and told him it was for him and Jasmine when she woke up. I told him he didnt need to worry about rent or paying for bills for now, but once he gets a stable job then he will. Well all except the hospital bills, I told him that we will go furniture shopping and cloths shopping later and he didnt need to worry about the cost of anything. He was so happy that he started to cry, Jasmines heart rate speed up a bit and I saw her mouth twitched little
"I guess she can hear us" I said
"Yeah she can, I can tell she is just as happy as I am thank you Dick" Kaden said
(time skip)
I helped Kaden get moved into the apartment and get him everything he needed. I even helped him decorate Jasmines room and make it perfect for when she wakes up. It was Terabethia themed so I knew she would like it. I also got him a phone so that we could stay in contact and he could tell me when Jasmine wakes up.
Before I left Metropolis I visited Jasmine and caught her up on everything that was going on. Once again I told her she should wake up soon so that she can see her room and everything. I then saw Kaden and said by to him. As I was driving through Metropolis I saw Superman fly above me. Through out helping Kaden and Jasmine I forgot what happened a couple days ago but now I remembered
"Fuck you Superman" I yelled and speed up
"So thats how you meet her" Slade asked
"Yeah, Funny isnt it" I said laughing
"Did you really yell Fuck you Superman" Jason asked
"Yes I did, I hope he heard it" I said smiling
"What happened to Kaden, did he get a job" Tim asked
"Yes he got a really good job actually, he is now one of the head people of the Drake Industries building in Metropolis" I said
"Wow!! he really did get a good job" Jason said
"Well of course he started at the bottom but he worked his way up" I said
"What about Jasmine did she wake up" Bruce asked
I just looked at him at first "yes she did she woke up a couple of months after I left. She is doing great now. She is in a loving relationship, and is working on getting her degree in writing"
"So what happened after you left Metropolis" Damian asked
